Am I the only one here who is so damn angry about the fact that a large portion of the Slavic representation on the Western media is either Russian, Russian-coded (e.g. the Grisha Universe by Leigh Bardugo) or copies the narratives about other Slavic nations that exist in the Russian discourse about them?

My favourite part about being an eastern euro online is that I get to know the exquisite nuke-building pleasure of seeing Kyle from Ohio commit hard to the bit and supplement his "nooooo I don't want to be drafted to die in a nuclear world war nooooo why does this keep happening to meeee 😭" with "why should I die in a nuclear holocaust for two (2!) polack farmers 🤬".
Some of you are just bad people have you ever considered that

Vos employeurs n'ont pas été élus sur ce mandat, vous pouvez m'en croire !

wait so genuine question about the eurovision boycott: i never watch the actual performance, but pretty often i'll find a cool song on spotify and then find out a while later it was on eurovision. i'm not sure if the boycott is calling for just "don't watch or talk about the competition itself," or if we wanna in general avoid streaming the songs featured on eurovision as a whole. i would guess it's only the contest, because from what i understand, streaming the songs will only benefit the artists directly. but yk, better safe than sorry. hope this isn't a dumb question 😅
Okay so, if we're going JUST based off of BDS's statement, and if we take it at face value and only look at what they've said, it seems like the boycott is only referring to boycotting the competition as it happens. If you're asking for my opinion, I personally would not stream any Eurovision songs after the fact either. I don't think those artists should profit from a piece of art they made and performed while sharing their platform with Israel, and I certainly don't think they should benefit from participating in a competition steeped in hypocrisy (Eurovision has banned Russia since the invasion of Ukraine but refuses to ban Israel) and Western centrism (Israel and Australia are not a part of Europe and yet. What do they have in common? I don't think I need to finish that thought you can fill in the blanks just fine.).
At the end of the day the decision is up to you, but just bear in mind that Palestinians have been calling for a boycott of Eurovision literally for years, and every single time our voices have been drowned out and ignored. I think as long as you bear in mind things like the BDS movement and center Palestinian voices (and actually listen to us) you'll be just fine.

Thank you for speaking out about Western centrism.
In one of your last your last post you mentioned in the tags that Ukrainians were traumatized living in Germany and fled in horror.
What caused this? What can Germans do to make Ukrainians feel welcome here
I am Ukrainian diaspora living in Germany and working with Ukrainian refugees here. Ukrainians refugees have told me that they can't believe that some Germans are unwilling to support Ukraine, while their family and friends are bombed in Ukraine and they themselves experienced air strikes. They are angry that some Germans think they deserve to die and are calling for so called "peace"
Hi! First of all, thank you for helping our people out - this really means a lot. If not for the genuine help that came from common people, I don't know what we'd be doing by now. So thank you once again.
Appeasenick Germans are, undoubtely, an infuriating factor, but I have huge doubts they can be, like… talked out of it. It would be nice to at least keep them away from traumatised refugees, but I currently cannot see any realistic solutions to this problem.
The biggest trouble, of course, is the parts of the German government that advocate for appeasement and prevent us from getting weapons. Sorry but this is Нікчемщина
The things I've heard people complaining about the most are of bureocratic nature, and I'm afraid this is not something that can be changed overnight. But this comes back to my point that every country has its pros and cons; for many years we looked up to Germany as an ideal of perfect European life, and after going there, we discovered that many things are much more comfortable in Ukraine.
For example, opening a bank account. To do this in Ukraine, I don't even need to leave my home - this can be done in half an hour through an app. A shitton of governmental services are fully digital as well - like opening a private business or applying for a marriage - and full digitalisation of the governmental services is in the plans. Another thing that is much better in Ukraine - we don't need to wait months for a doctor's appointment. Some time ago I needed to visit a doctor, so I just walked into my nearest hospital, and there just was a free opening in an hour. I had a consultation, ultrasound and prescription in one go, and all of it was for free. Oh, and not to mention, shops and other establishments are open on Sundays. Should I even mention the difference between Deutschebahn and Ukrzaliznytsya? Guys, sometimes I wonder how do you even survive like this.
Now, to think about it, I have heard some problems ukrainians had in german refugee centres specifically. For example, the abundance of russian workers. Now, I fully understand and respect their desire to help refugees, it is a morally sound choice, but you have to understand that many people flee from occupied towns or places that underwent constant bombings. Many women escaped to Europe after being raped by russian soldiers. They might be literally triggered by being in the proximity of russians or hearing russian language, yet german government had dispatched them to work in centres because "we speak the same language"? At the very least there needs to be some type of filtering system to screen out the russians who will get angry at ukrainians for not acting sufficiently grateful for their help, or genuine rushists (I have heard a story of one old russian man in Germany who was yelling at the ukrainians for not taking russian passports and "provoking" russia into attacking Ukraine. wtf). Oh, and another issue I've heard about is that many paper materials like leaflets etc. are only avaliable in translated into russian, but not ukrainian. This is genuinely insulting because it reinforces the already existent stereotype that "ukrainians don't need ukrainian language since they understand russian anyway".
A necessary disclaimer that the problems described above are not an issue to everybody - a plenty of ukrainians are perfectly fine with being around russians.
Also, not all refugees from Ukraine are met equally as well - roma people in particular face much more trouble getting help and are often denied the services accessible to other ukrainians.
This topic was widely discussed around last summer, and most of the info I know is from that period; so if the issues I've described have been fixed - good. Hope my answer was of any help.

im thinking about starting diy hrt. im 17, i have known that im trans for several years now and i live in russia. we have a law prohibiting lgbt propaganda and demonstration, and now there's a law being made which will try to ban transitioning (both medical and legal) for anyone except some cases for intersex people. and we don't even have access to the text of the law itself! there is almost no chance the law won't pass. yes it will probably have some loopholes, but it is still awful.
everyone who is 18 or higher are changing their documents right now. i can't because im 17. i guess i will do diy hrt some time in the future, when i will have more recourses to do it.
also everyone and their mom are telling to move to another country and I can't and won't be able for at least 2 and a half years from now 🥲🥲🥲
at least I have my partner. they are also transmasc and their support means everything for me. also im very happy that they ARE transitioning legally and medically right now!!!
I know your blog is mostly about positivity, but i think it's good if more people know about what is happening to trans people around the world, not only in usa.
good luck people, i hope your situation is better than this shit
sorry if i made any grammatical or other mistakes, english is obviously not my first language.
youre good on the grammar! ive heard a bit about what’s going on in russia, and its really fucking awful. i hope youre able to move in those two years and that the diy hrt goes well. i think we need to center other countries issue with trans genocide more, and the western centrism is very harmful.

calling any picture of palestinians just being people "hamas propaganda" is fucking harrowing dude. yeah we needed to cut off those childrens hospitals because a single terrorist could be there. do you hear yourself?
Is this "calling any picture of Palestinians just being people Hamas propaganda" in the room with us?
things I called, or referred to, as HAMAS propaganda (because it is):
accusations of Jews occupying mosques to party;
America-first outlook of the Israel/Palestine war+calling Israel an occupier;
Hinkle being consistently pro-russian, pro-Iranian ergo pro-HAMAS shill and HAMAS using videos of Syrian children, victims of Assad regime and russian International terrorism, as Palestinian victims of Israel;
euqating russia and Israel when it's two different, very, very, very fucking different wars while also claiming that russia got unfair treatment;
claiming that hostages taken into Gaza had a very nice experience with friendly hosts instead of what it was - being kidnapped and brutalized;
that fucking infographic whitewashing russia and Assad's war crimes;
Holocaust denial 2.0, now about the HAMAS October 7 massacre;
also October 7 denial, now from an anti-Ukrainian tankie;
Palestinians calling Ukrainians Nazi in one breath and wishing russia success, and in another - using them to show, see, even Ukrainians support Palestine - newsflash, we always did, we recognized Palestine like several decades ago, but we're still Nazi, not the ones who literally killing the Jews;
calling a European news account a zionist who colonized a very much genocidal slogan;
an answer why pro-palestinian accounts mindlessly parroting each other without actually thinking about what they're saying, as long as it justifies a genocide of Jews;
again, America-centrism of Israel/Palestine war;
are you tired yet? because here's like 12 posts directly or vaguely about Israel/Palestine war and none of them are calling a picture of Palestinians just being people a HAMAS propaganda.
anyway, I'm not.
singling out only convenient genocides to acknowledge (or whitewashing your political allies) or alternatively, blacking out your political opponents even they are not, in fact, the ones committing genocides;
more whitewashing of russia, now Eurovision edition ("we need to take sanctions of russia"-lite);
pro-palestinians being anti-Ukrainains again, quelle surprise;
and again;
and again, with a bonus of whitewashing russian war crimes;
do you see the pattern here? because i do.
nativenews being a terrorist shill; are they republican? russian? palestinian? iranian? i dunno, maybe they are freelance; point stands;
pro-palestinian wishing me to kill myself for not pissing myself with joy bc Jews got massacred;
more examples of footage from Syria being used as footage from Gaza;
more anti-Ukrainian propaganda, now rehashing the old ones since the early 2022;
more collabs between HAMAS and russian propaganda social media accounts;
... did i found it? people in Israel tag cheering for what happened on Oct 7th. like Palestinians burning Israel flag. is that... the pictures you called them just being people?
anyway. you were saying? children hospitals? no, I don't think that we need to do anything with children hospitals. strangely enough? I didn't even find a single related post. but go off.

Sweden is genuinely a nation of cowards. It's like, noone in this entire country has heard of the concept of silence being a form of violence. We claim to be neutral yet when you try to explain to people that centrism inherently means siding with the oppressor they all start screaming about democratic values, as if that means shit when there's an ongoing genocide! I don't fucking care about the liberal democracy it's a facade we hide behind to avoid any sort of responsibility for anything and it's so fucking tiring hearing people say that you have to respect the process when that process is actively getting people killed through negligence! And even in a scenario where liberal democracy somehow helped to preserve the peace (it doesn't, see: NATO, see: the Swedish weapons industry) it won't fucking last anyways. Noone seems to have taken notice of the fact that the far right is growing extremely rapidly, noone even took notice when the left liberal party that's been in power for the last 40 years was voted out replaced with the center right backed by a nazi party that got 28% of the votes, noone fucking cares! About anything! We're all just gonna sit on our asses and continue to claim to be neutral as the country slides further into fascism, as we continue to kill more migrants, as we continue to burn more holy books and whenever someone says "hey can we do something about this" they're gonna get shut down because you gotta respect the democratic process and I'm just. So tired. I'm so fucking tired. Of all of it. I genuinely hope Russia invades us. I hope Stockholm is hit by an ICBM because maybe then we'll actually care about what happens in the rest of the world for once. Genuinely fucking hate this country and every single day that passes I grow more and more ashamed that I was born in the same country as these people.

I know it's not 2015 anymore, the Sokovia Accords is officially repealed in MCU but I still am not over this debate ok?
like what the fuck did team ironman expect? legally and politically, what did they realistically expect? did they actually believe that thing could've worked? on a UN level, HOW?
the Avengers were the only canon superheroes who existed in the entire universe at that time, the members were either americans (was nat a citizen? likely.), three of which were high-ranking current or former US servicemen, or hold some kind of refugee status (wanda) in america. others aren't even human and one of them was still technically american. so you are telling me you expect america to willingly and unreservedly relinquish the ownership and control it already had over the avengers?
even if they did, who'd call the shots? UNSC? a different committee that works just like UNSC? oh, right, UNSC is too unbalanced let's put it through the GA for a vote. by the time they convene a meeting, the world's already over 20 times.
circle back to the america problem. they held the monopoly in the superhero business, what would russia do? does anyone remember the arms race? oh, that's right, russia already had their own super soldiers for that exact reason. but they didn't tell anyone cus their super soldiers were insane and they had no control over them. how's france going to think? the UK? the EU?
if the avengers were communal, where were they supposed to be stationed? cus it'd be unfair to stay in the US all the time. it'd take longer for them to reach the other side of the globe and this american-centrism was precisely why the accords were proposed, wasn't it?
and what if there were more superpower people popped up around the world? let's say the UK had Union Jack, would he be an avengers too? would they train together? which country's laws and protocals would they follow? would he stick to Britain or is he going to save the day wearing his country's flag in fucking Ireland? would all of them have to wear symbols of their own country? because it'd be real funny if only the UK and the US had flag-wearing superheroes. if they all did, how can you realistically expect they'd be working for the common good instead of being agents of their own countries?
it's just some of the problems that simply can not be resolved if the UN (or any supra/international political body) were to enforce the Accords.
the Accords is in essence non-proliferation treaty, and that's another rabbit hole team ironman stupidly believed they could magically fix...

I'm allergic to US centrism as much as the next guy but what I'm even more allergic to is non-USians using US centrism as a buzzword to justify jingoistic "X country exceptionalism"
"It's US centric to assume skin color is the be all and end all of racism, European racism can and often does target certain white people such as Slavic peoples" = correct, normal and good thing to say!
"It's US centric to call Sámi/Karelians/Tatars/indigenous peoples of Russia indigenous because they weren't LITERALLY the first on X landmass" = uh oh, white washing of colonialism! And paradoxically enough US centric in itself because it relies on US centric ideas of colonialism where colonists always arrive in boats
"It's US centric to say that Romani people are subjected to racism, they deserve it and anybody who disagrees has never seen a Romani person outside of Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame" = you're not even trying at this point, only an already racist or extremely gullible USian would believe that you cunt

Propagandists for the blocklist:
Tumblr media
I mean, first of all, only Putinists think it's a money laundering scam. Also, I sincerely doubt that foreign aid to Ukraine makes up a large portion of the US budget. I agree that the US government should spend more on things like welfare or disaster relief, but the best way to free up funds for that would be to spend a little less on the US military. Strange that these people never suggest that option...
Tumblr media
... Oh. You're a Nazi. Now I see where this "Ukraine scam" bullshit came from
Tumblr media
Hey idiot, how about you unlearn that US-centrism and learn how to spell "diplomacy"? This war has nothing to do with you Yankees, Putin and his officials have said multiple times why they're attacking Ukraine: they think Ukraine's existence is a mistake and the end of the Soviet Union was a tragedy and they're trying to undo both of those. Russia's not going to let Ukraine join NATO regardless of whether the US is in it or not, because having allies who aren't under Russia's thumb will make Ukraine's independence more secure and Russia doesn't want that. Just like it doesn't want that for Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, or Georgia, just to name a few examples.
Tumblr media
It wasn't a coup, the US barely had anything to do with it, it was an uprising by the Ukrainian people against a corrupt regime led by a Putinist puppet who had protesters assassinated, and Obama had a lot of issues as a president but you'd have to be an idiot and/or a Republican to call him "one of the very worst". Frankly, it's impressive that the man achieved as much for the US as he did considering that he was taking over from Bush, started his presidency in a recession, and had to deal with half his government being run by racist assholes who vowed as soon as he was elected to shoot down any and all of his policies.
Tumblr media
Pro tip: if someone says the UN and EU and NATO should all disband, there's a 90% chance they're pro-imperialism
Also. You know. Putin is and has always been the aggressor here, and Zelensky is acting on behalf of his country by trying to reclaim the territories occupied and illegally (because consent is rarely given at gunpoint) annexed by Russia.

man rn tumblr is bursting at the seams with posts like "if you don't support biden, uh, you simply don't 'get' politics. yeah he overrides the process pretty much whenever and his administration is apathetic and comatose at best and straight up hellfire devils at worst— but look, he can't stop killing palestinians just because you set yourself on fire about it" and the replies are all "⬆️ THIS! did you fuckcrustable cockwaffles not learn ANYTHING from star wars?" and it'll be dated like oct 8th 2023.
and all these "good vibes only" bitches will spread this stuff for some reason despite it being so UN BELIEVABLY EMBARRASSING... UNCHARISMATIC... like this is what gives you hope? you find personal meaning in this? to have hope there must be reason for doubt, and you people are living the type of comfortable lives where doubt and adversity are fleeting moments, small, blink and you'll miss it. you face adversity when your mom asks you for rent money and it goes away when she gets distracted. if you are wealthy, you will not be affected by a change in administration so idk i don't really want to hear lib dem political analysis from you. i do not want to hear from YOU about how my rights will be taken away. WHICH ONES?
it's both mortifying in how uncreative and outdated the messaging is, and horrific in its presence and reach. People who self-suppose their own goodness thoughtlessly (as in idk how much they think— connect— anything?) co-signing the banal evils of centrism. like they think if we REALLY understood how hopelessly complex politics are, we would be civil and respectable centrists as well. vast numbers of people have instead— AND YOU'LL NOTICE, NOT JUST RECENTLY— lost their fucking patience for their cowardly asses and have, in droves, begun striving for something new, using a variety of tactics which are all equally as valid as voting (if you believe voting to be valid.) it must make them so scared and uncomfortable that they have to come on here and bang out the dumbest shit i ever heard.
"china and russia are combining hypnobeams forcing you to be critical of the biden administration 😔" and then like 3 posts down you see OP is an unrepentant zionist. but you would've known that from the rest of what they said. like WHAT'S GOIN ON GANG......... DOES THIS HIT????????

Oh ok, no legitimate answer then. Just "I like my shitty US media and am going to keep paying attention to it as if it's worth my time."
The photo was my answer actually you just missed my point. But that is okay, I'll go into detail here.
"Seeing so many people complain about US-centrism but then be deeply into mainstream US shows and films is just confusing." — criticizing a country's policies and the popular, narrow worldview of many of its citizens (which often reveals their ignorance of other cultures, traditions and history) does not mean I can't appreciate that country's art. It's like saying if I'm criticizing Russia for the invasion of Ukraine I couldn't possibly like Dostoevsky or Tchaikovsky. But neither of these artists have anything to do with Russia's expansionist policies now. I can appreciate Russian artists and also citicize Russians for their imperialist worldviews. Same way, I can criticize US dominance, and US-centrism while enjoying US art. (You are making me explain concepts that are understandable to 5 year olds)
"I literally live here and don't own cable or streaming services because of how deprived of art and taste Hollywood is. Have not listened to new music in English in several years." — just because you are too lazy to look beyond surface level mainstream media that is being advertised to you 24/7 doesn't mean that American artists don't create meaningful art. You just seem to think too highly of yourself and refuse to look beyond "deprived art of Hollywood". There is nothing to be proud about in your inability to appreciate the artists of your own country.
I can enjoyed good american movies and music but I can also enjoy good french, russian and movies/music of many other countries. The problem with americans, hence US-centrism, is that they live in such a big country that they are unable to see past its borders and assume that everyone must be like them (and they rarely engage with other countries culture/art/cinema). So when engaging in topics where US isn't the cenre of the conversation (mainly about geopolitics), they obviously make wrong conclusions based on wrong assumptions.
You can like your shitty US media and keep paying attention to it as if it's worth your time, or you could be less lazy, look beyond Marvel and discover the beauty of your country's art while simultaneously being critical of its current policies.

"The Unexpected Shift: Ukraine's Surprising Ally, Poland, Makes a Striking Move Towards the Political Center - Spells Trouble for Putin's Russia"
The election result in Poland is expected to have repercussions in Moscow, as it signifies a victory for liberal centrism and a potential improvement in the country’s relations with both the European Union (EU) and Ukraine. Although the incumbent Law and Justice (PiS) party received the highest percentage of the vote at 35.4%, opposition groups are poised to form a parliamentary majority. Donald…
