He then tossed the pipe aside and closed the gap, bashing his opponent's head with his armored hands. Once the Faunus was on the ground, wheezing, Jaune turned to see the bail jumper was now running. He took hold of the pipe and-

"Stop!" Blake stood with her arms wide. "I won't let you do to him what you did to that other man!"

"I won't." With a toss, the pipe soared in the air, high over Blake's head. She followed it to where it landed, right into the other man's head, causing him to fall over. "Good."

"Wh... Why are you doing this?" Blake asked.

"Practice." Jaune answered. "Once I get my license, I'll be able to-"

"Be able to what? Go after Faunus before they can commit crimes? Hurt more innocent people without aura?"

"Not every Faunus is innocent. These two weren't."

"How do you know that?"

Jaune began tying up the bail jumper, not once looking at Blake. "Because the mission said he was on probation after beating up a woman who told him 'No'." Once secured, he started dragging the man by his collar. "And before you ask, the other one's guilty of trying to hurt one of my friends."

Blake was about to ask who when she realized why he tackled her. "You... You were trying to protect me?" She looked back to the man still unconscious behind her. "I didn't even hear him sneak up on me."

"You were too busy acting like you were better than me."

"I wasn't-"

"You were, but I'm willing to apologize and let it go if you help me with something." He pointed to the pipe man. "I was only going after the bail jumper, but since this happened, I need more rope to tie this one up."

"Rope?"

i wish i could tell if oscar's "i always knew i wanted to be more than a farmhand, but this? who would ask for this?" is about the shadow war / the merge or if it's about being a huntsman in general. like, they've left what his "more" is pretty vague (as far as i can remember), and idk. the idea that he's talking about being a huntsman with the "who would ask for this?", specifically the reality of being one rather than the idolized life of a hero that is advertised, would so very interesting.

it'd also be a neat parallel with ruby, who specifically wanted to be a huntress instead of any other job that involves helping people, because it was romantic.

also, i just realized that the episode where oscar and oz have their first proper conversation about The Situation is called punished.

**During the last Two Years at Beacon, Jaune and his friends all got along he managed to have a very loving relationship with Yang and the two Teams became power houses after their first year, but on one night they played Truth or Dare Jaune Revealed in a Truth he has a Starfighter to help him go earn some cash from bounties in space given to him by his Bounty Hunter Mentor; Boba Fett.**

(Night of the ToD game night)
