Volkswagen Golf Rallye A59, 1993. I have posted about it before but one of VW's more interesting concepts at this year's SEMA is also the oldest. The Mk 3 Golf Rallye (code named A59) was a prototype for a proposed WRC entry that rules at the time required 2,500 homologation specials of the participating rallycar. Two prototypes were built (only one is drivable) by Cadolzburg-based Schmidt Motorsport (SMS) but VW decided not to go forward with the WRC entry and the project was shelved. It was powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder all-aluminium engine producing 271hp and driving all 4 wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox and a motorsport-grade AWD system

Power comes from a 1,000hp Todd Goodwin 8.4 litre racing engine driving through a Bowler Performance Corvette torque tube transaxle. There are Ohlins dampers, Brembo brakes and racing slicks. If you like the classic style and track-rated modern engineering of our Motorsport Series ZO1R wheel but prefer a subtler, less aggressive appearance for your street-driven sports car, then the ZO1 is made for you! Though made from the same forgings and sharing the same 2100 lb. load rating as our race-ready ZO1R, the ZO1 forgoes the ZO1R’s aggressive open-lug center area for a more traditional lug center that accommodates our standard press-in aluminum center cap. The ZO1 features a classic split five-spoke design, concave profile, I-beamed spokes, and chamfered outer edge. The Forgeline ZO1 is a fully-forged one-piece monoblock wheel that utilizes manufacturing technology similar to our very successful GS1R wheel. Beyond just beautiful style, the ZO1 is engineered to allow plenty of room for caliper clearance and extreme brake fitment. And the one-piece monoblock forging and computer-simulated FEA design process yield a wheel that is lightweight, stiff, and has excellent fatigue strength. The ZO1 is machined from a single forging of 6061-T6 aluminum. It is currently available in 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22-inch diameters with a range of widths and offsets. It can be made to accommodate most 5-lug and centerlock applications. (Please Note: Depending on size, the ZO1 may be available in deep, medium, or shallow concave profiles.) And just like any Forgeline wheel, the ZO1 is available with fully customizable finish options. See more (including sizes and pricing) at: https://forgeline.com/wheel/zo1

The unique NW104 features complex design elements that command your attention from every angle. It begins with a deeply-contoured multi-dimensional lug center and continues with a set of ten tapered concave asymmetric spokes that are grouped together in opposing pairs. These elements combine to create a wheel that is both functional and visually captivating. The NW104 is machined from a single forging of 6061-T6 aluminum. It is currently available in 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22-inch diameters with a range of widths and offsets. (Please Note: Depending on size, the NW104 may be available in deep, medium, or shallow concave profiles.) And just like any Forgeline wheel, the NW104 is available with fully customizable finish options. See more (including sizes and pricing) at: https://forgeline.com/wheel/nw104

The RSR1’s clean 5-spoke design is a tribute to the original cast magnesium RSR Porsche wheels of the 1970s. But unlike the original, the Forgeline RSR1 is a modern custom made-to-order precision-machined forged aluminum version that combines the latest in advanced wheel technology, including one piece forged monoblock construction and I-beamed spokes to deliver head-turning good looks. The RSR1 is engineered exclusively for center lock applications and fits all Porsche center lock systems. The Forgeline RSR1 is a fully-forged one-piece monoblock wheel. Utilizing manufacturing technology similar to our very successful GS1R wheel, the concave 5-spoke design of the RSR1 looks great and allows plenty of room for caliper clearance and extreme brake fitment. The RSR1 is machined from a single forging of 6061-T6 aluminum. It is currently available in 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22-inch diameters. (Please Note: Depending on size, the RSR1 may be available in deep, medium, or shallow concave profiles.) And just like any Forgeline wheel, the RSR1 is available with fully customizable finish options. See more (including sizes and pricing) at: https://forgeline.com/wheel/rsr1

The classic HL3 is a tribute to the original Halibrand wheels of the 1960s that famously carried the Ford GT40 to victory, at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans. But unlike the original, the Forgeline HL3 is a modern 3-piece wheel that is manufactured from fully forged concave 6061-T6 aluminum centers using the latest engineering and manufacturing technology. The Forgeline HL3 is a modern custom made-to-order 3-piece wheel that is precision-machined from forged 6061-T6 aluminum and assembled with heat-treated rim shells, hidden stainless-steel ARP fasteners, and Heli-Coil inserts. And just like any Forgeline wheel, the HL3 is fully customizable in fitment and finish, including center lock applications. See more (including sizes and pricing) at: https://forgeline.com/wheel/hl3
