I fixed alignment!

That's a really ambitious thing to declare. I even already went to the trouble of making this because I've been planning on announcing like this.
But, yeah.
Maybe I didn't fix it, per se. At worst, you can call this an alternative system to traditional alignment. And it all started because people were getting a little too complicated talking about the "nuance" of the standard alignment system and things like the MTG mana color system.
And my response was going to be "what ya'll are trying to get at is a spider graph." But that extended response post got annihilated because I didn't save it as a draft before switching tabs. So I started writing it up as its own post. And that lead to me making some demonstration graphs, and that lead to me going ahead and just writing up a whole essay. And then I adapted that essay into a variant rules module for 5e d&d.
So. Yeah. That's how I ended up making Re:Alignment. (get it, it's like a pun, because "re:" is the default header for a reply email and I'm responding to the trash state of alignment in 5e, but it's also read as "realignment" like repairing a misalignment.. it's clever, just trust me)
The document is 11 pages and can be read in its entirety as a preview on DMsGuild if you follow the link to it (easier to do on desktop). The doc outline how this approach to alignment changes how alignment works, the actual alignment system itself, and describes what I have essentially replaced good, evil, lawful, chaotic, and neutral with. I also included a print friendly PDF sheet to fit into a character sheet where you can track your spider graph alignment and other important alignment based RP information. Also also, there's a standalone graph jpg that you can slap onto a modified character sheet or other RP tool of your choice.
The doc is priced as "pay what you want", so if you want a downloaded copy or one you can print (though hopefully not the last page, because I make those all black) you can get it for free. If you want to throw a little money my way or if you really like the system, you can pay however much money you want. It was like 48 hours of work, so a decent amount of effort went into this.

Oregon e altre cose
è un sacco di tempo che non scrivo qualcosa sul blog. Ho pubblicato delle foto che mi piacevano un botto ma non ho scritto niente, questo perché di base sono stato via tanto e sto scrivendo parecchio per lavoro quindi ho poco tempo per pensare. Comunque ci sono delle cose che mi preoccupano e mi fanno ragionare su chi sono e chi voglio essere e così via. La prima cosa è il viaggio in Oregon di settembre. In tutta onestà non ho la minima idea se riuscirò ad andarci, ho pensato a un paio di alternative ma la verità è che nessuna mi convince davvero. Mi sono accorto che negli ultimi due anni andare in America è stato, tra le altre cose, anche il termometro di ciò che sto facendo nella vita, equazione semplice: finché riesco ad andare in America allora sto facendo qualcosa di interessante. Oltre a questo, continuo ad avere una voglia assurda di tornare di là, penso che l'America possa essere tante cose, ma direi che per me è soprattutto uno stato fisico e mentale. L'America è un mood e non mi interessa davvero andare in un posto piuttosto che in un altro e forse nemmeno fare una gara più di un'altra, nel senso: sì, ma il punto è soprattutto l'America, il resto è in più. Un'altra cosa che non mi piace granché di me di questo periodo è che ho invidiato davvero molto chi ci è stato ultimamente e l'invidia è una cosa di cui non bisogna andare fieri, ma forse deriva dalla mia frustrazione di non poterci andare con la stessa semplicità e spensieratezza con cui ci vanno tutti. Per me andare in America è soprattutto la fine di un processo lungo mesi in cui mando email, faccio incontri di lavoro e perdo ore a scrivere e a disfare presentazioni. Penso però che sia anche per questo che poi, quando ci sono, me la godo così tanto. A livello razionale non penso ci sia davvero nulla da invidiare a nessuno, sono molto fortunato ad esserci stato due volte e ad aver prodotto due lavori, però sotto sotto ogni volta ci soffro un po'. Mi vergogno un po' a scriverlo ma è la verità ed è una cazzata vergognarsi della verità, più che altro vale la pena provare a cambiarla. In generale comunque ho un po' messo la testa sotto la sabbia e mi sono interessato di altri argomenti ultimamente, anche dal punto di vista lavorativo, e quindi ho scoperto tante storie vicine che mi hanno appassionato e che hanno un po' indebolito l'equazione lavoro=andare in America. Adesso sto scrivendo tanto di Italia e mi è quasi tornata la voglia di riprovare a iscrivermi alla Lavaredo l'anno prossimo, sempre che non venga preso altrove. Ah, già, l'altrove. Ho pensato che ci sono due tipi di gare: le gare che vuoi fare, e le gare che devi fare. Penso davvero che ci siano delle gare che non possono mancare nel curriculum di un ultrarunner e Western States è una di queste. Purtroppo è diventata sempre di più una gara che devo fare e ha smesso di essere sempre di più una gara che in fondo, sotto sotto, voglio fare. Tutta la merda che ci sta costruendo attorno Hoka-UTMB sta rovinando l'evento. Non so se sia soltanto la comunicazione e magari là è rimasto lo stesso, ma la comunicazione è una cosa dannatamente importante e WS sembra davvero cambiata. Continuerò a sognarla portandomi dietro questa specie di amaro in bocca che non mi piace. Questa gente sta intaccando e modificando i sogni delle persone e lo trovo deplorevole. Non ho ancora capito cosa mi attrae di Pine To Palm devo essere sincero, resta il fatto che è una delle uniche cose che mi attraggono, spero davvero di andare là a correre. Forse solo di vedere una partita all'Oracle Stadium a SF.

Hello everyone, we have some bad news to share with you, which could lead to production delays, or even temporary or permanent closure of the game.
Those of you who have been with us for years will know that we went through a similar situation some time ago. Our current translator, to whom we are extremely grateful for her amazing work, is forced to leave the project.
Although our savings are better than last time, we cannot guarantee that we can afford a professional translation for the remaining 13 or so episodes of the project.
As a first option and as we did last time, we are opening a call for all of you who are interested in helping us to translate the game from Spanish to English >link call<; . This is an unpaid position, but we'll do our best to adapt to your way of working. Of course, it isn't a permanent commitment until the game is finished, only as far as you can or want. As we said before, no one in the team makes money with this project, all the money we've been earning has been invested in steam and other platforms, as well as expenses derived from the production or, simply, we've saved it for emergency situations. This emergency fund is completely insufficient to finish CHR, but at least to guarantee the release of the next episode, which will also be the end of the second arc.
If you can't or don't feel qualified for such a position, you can also try to help us by donating to >paypal<; , >itch< , turning them into >patreons< , or simply sharing this post with whoever you think could help us. We don't want this to sound like an obligation to anyone, but we also don't want to lie to you and pretend that the situation is not serious.
If the applications do not pass the minimum quality cut, we'll try to look for alternative forms of funding (gofound, kikstarter or other projects like WT). We also remind those of you who left your email in contacts in the previous call, that you have an email in your inbox ^^. Hola a todos, tenemos que comunicaros una mala noticia, que podría ocasionar retrasos en la producción, incluso el cierre del juego de forma temporal o permanente.
Los que nos acompañáis desde hace años, ya sabréis que pasamos por una situación similar hace un tiempo. Nuestra actual traductora, a la que estamos tremendamente agradecidas por su increíble trabajo, se ve obligada a dejar el proyecto.
Aunque nuestros ahorros están mejor que la última vez, no podemos garantizar que podamos pagar una traducción profesional para lo que queda de proyecto que son, aproximadamente, 13 episodios.
Como primera opción y tal y como hicimos la anterior vez, abrimos convocatoria para todos aquellos que estéis interesados en ayudarnos a traducir el juego de español a inglés >link de la convocatoria<. Este puesto no es remunerado, pero haremos todo lo posible para adaptarnos a vuestra forma de trabajo. Por supuesto, no es un compromiso permanente hasta terminar el juego, tan solo hasta donde vosotros podáis o queráis. Como ya dijimos anteriormente, nadie en el equipo gana dinero con este proyecto, todo el dinero que hemos ido obteniendo se ha invertido en steam y otras plataformas, así como gastos derivados de la producción o, simplemente, lo hemos ahorrado para situaciones de emergencia. Este fondo de emergencia es completamente insuficiente para terminar CHR, pero sí, al menos, para garantizar la salida del próximo episodio, que además, será el final del segundo arco.
Si no podéis o no os sentís cualificados para dicho puesto, también podéis tratar de ayudarnos a través de donaciones a >paypal< , >itch< , convirtiéndolos en >patreons<, o, simplemente, compartiendo esta publicación con quién creáis que podría ayudarnos. "Alternate Universe - Modern Setting" 6 of my 50 fics on ao3 have this tag, 3 from Les Mis and 3 from Red vs. Blue, so we're coming at the modern setting from two different directions lol, but I guess it is easier than writing past or future haha. Then we have a plateau of a lot of tags with 3 stories to them apiece; those include "Alternate Universe" (got it), "Canonical Character Death" (VERY characteristic of my writing, death death death), "Bodyswap" (fun :) ), "Alternate Universe - Gender Changes" (also fun :) ), and "Guilt" (.... no comment). (yes.)
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
The wonderful thing (one of many wonderful things) about having ps be also in fandom is that we are actually currently writing the highly specific AU I feel craziest about. :) I have also come within a hair's breadth of writing fencing and choral AU's for almost every fandom I've ever been in, ahah.
34. What aspects of your writing are inspired by/taken from your real life?
Gosh... Setting, I suppose? I've written a few stories now very much set in places that I've spent time in (Montreal and Edmonton in particular), and I feel like that's something that I struggle with for unknown places. Other than that, turning the mirror inward is yielding some uncomfortable thoughts, so I'll call it there for now!
36. Do you visualize what you read/write?
very vaguely!! I love and appreciate vivid description, but it doesn't appear in my mind's eye per se.
41. Link a fic that made you think, “Wow, I want to write like that.”
HMM OH BOY. Just shooting from the hip, I really like Chrome's writing, and this Caduceus (from Critical Role) piece really stuck with me :)
42. Have you ever received a comment that particularly stood out to you for whatever reason?
"Being so hot has made him mannerless" is a GUIDING LIGHT for the aforementioned Mirror Has Two Faces AU lol. I've also received a few comments (one on the Terra Ignota fic I posted in October, a couple on my longer Les Mis fic) that were just very effusive or contained a lot of specific quoted lines that stuck with me for reasons of tire-pumping. :) But I seriously love every comment I've ever gotten!
46. Do you prefer writing on your phone or on a computer (or something else)? Do you think where you write affects the way you write?
I prefer my computer, but these days I often end up writing on my phone. It's slower, less ergonomic, and more annoying, but at least I can do it on the bus?? And yes I absolutely think that where I write affects my writing style: specifically, I do more para breaks on my phone than on my computer, because paragraphs seem so long on a phone. That then changes the flow, sometimes in ok ways and sometimes in annoying ways. (The epistolary Terra Ignota fic was almost entirely written on my phone, but since it was all supposed to be draft emails, the pacing change was acceptable to me)
48. What’s the last fic you read? Do you recommend it?
/o\ tbh I don't really recommend the last fic I read, but I don't wanna be rude so I will instead share the last fic I read that I recommend! Vrykolakas is a Batman WIP, it's horror, and there's VERY spooky tension and VERY gross forced cannibalism so buyer beware haha. But I feel like the writer's doing a very good job of having heightened tension in this very dark story! spooky spooky :)
