Garo Master - CR8 Undead

A boss version of a robed ninja spirit, based on the Zelda enemy of the same name.

This is a higher level version of the garo robe from Majora’s Mask that I posted earlier this week, designed to be a boss fight.

Although they appear to be humanoids shrouded in long cloaks, garo masters are empty shells with nothing beneath the robe.  Like the garo robes that serve under them, they’re the remnants of warrior spies with a strict code of honor who committed ritual suicide in a way that left no body behind, in order to prevent their enemies from learning the information they had.  Many of these warriors, animated by their own willpower, return as undead and continue to gather information in death, haunting the locations where they were assigned to.

Garo masters lead the warriors that serve under them even in death, following the same chain of command that they followed in life.  They’re not, unfortunately, particularly capable of realizing that their war has long since ended.

Garo masters hide from their enemies, and begin battle by creating a ring of fire, preferably in the surprise round.  Once the ring of fire has been created, they dash quickly in and out of it to attack.

I previously posted the Stalblind and Bongo Bongo, two other Zelda bosses.  I also want to give a shout out to The Legend of Zelda: An RPG to the Past for more Zelda creatures, races and items converted to Pathfinder 1e, including some stat blocks for living Garo that haven’t yet become restless spirits.

Garo Master - CR 8

Shrouded in a long ornamental cloak, two pinpoints of light shine out from behind the mask covering this assassin’s face.  It wields a pair of thin, curved swords that dance with fire.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Death Throes (Su) When a garo master is slain, its body combusts in a flash of white-hot flame. This acts like a fireball that deals 10d6 fire damage in a 20-foot-radius burst.  A DC 19 Reflex save halves the damage.  A garo master’s gear is unaffected by this explosion.  The save DC is Charisma-based.

Ki Points (Su) A garo master has a pool of 8 ki points per day.  Its ki points can be used to fuel its various special abilities listed below.

Flaming Jutsu (Su) By spending 1 ki point as a swift action, a garo master can imbue up to 2 magic weapons it’s wielding with the flaming property for a duration of 1 minute.  This effect is already included in its statistics ability.

Graceful Landing (Su) As long as a garo master has at least 1 ki point remaining, it is immune to falling damage and always lands on its feet.

Leap Into Nothing (Su) By spending 1 ki point as a move action, a garo master can leap up into the air and disappear, reappearing at a point it can see within its movement speed, and can perform a feint against one target within 10 feet of either its starting point or its destination as a free action.  This is a teleportation effect.

Offensive Defense (Ex) When a garo master hits a creature with a melee attack that deals sneak attack damage, the garo master gains a +2 dodge bonus to AC for one round. The dodge bonus only applies against the creature it sneak attacked, and the dodge bonus does not stack with itself.

Quick Run (Su) By spending 1 ki point as a swift action, a garo master can take another move action on its turn, although its movement speed is halved during this extra move action.

Ring of Fire (Su) By spending 1 ki point as a standard action, a garo master can create a ring of fire along the ground with a radius as small as 10 feet or as wide as 40 feet.  This ring of fire is a vertical sheet of fire that rises from the ground to a height of 20 feet along the edge of the radius.   The ring of fire inhibits visibility, causing attacks that pass through the edge of it to have a 20% miss chance.  The ring of fire must be initially centered such that the garo master is inside the radius, but once it has been placed, the garo master can freely enter and leave the ring of fire.  Creatures and unattended objects other than the garo master that enter or end their turn in the edge of this ring of fire take 10d6 fire damage with no saving throw.

A garo master can only create one ring of fire at a time.  A ring of fire lasts for 1 minute, or until the garo master is destroyed or takes any amount of cold damage.

Two-Weapon Charge (Su) By spending 1 ki point as part of a charge, while wielding a weapon in each hand, a garo master can attack twice at the end of the charge, once with each of its weapons.

I don't do Dueling events anymore. I did in the past but not anymore so there are many "missing" spells in Charms Lessons book. However, I noticed many of those unwon spell tabs are gone now, except Mobilicorpus and Throw Teacup (which is current event's reward). If you won a spell in the past, it remains in the book, but what you didn't win is no longer there. Why do you think Jam City removed them? I'm not complaining but it's kinda weird.

I remember reading about it a while ago, on Reddit, I believe. I recall someone suggesting then that it’s about not confusing newer players – and I think it’s a pretty reasonable explanation. All of the duelling spells (from the events, I mean) are placed as Year 1 Achievements, right? I imagine quite a lot of new players might’ve been worried as to why they didn’t get a chance to unlock all of them. Sure, it is said in the menu: “Earn the X spell in a special Duelling Event”, but what does it mean exactly? When those events are available? Why I got some new spells when I didn’t unlock the old ones?

On top of that, I suspect that the support was dealing with quite a lot of questions about it, so perhaps it was even them who suggested it to the devs?

Of course, there are still spells like Episkey which you can learn only in the removed Y2 SQ, so it's not a perfect explanation. But I do believe avoiding the confusion was the main reason why they did it. Perhaps it's connected to coding, too? It was easier to remove the duelling events spells with a single command while the quests spells would require to do it manually? I'm no expert on that, so it's just me guessing.

Another benefit is also that the menu looks a bit cleaner that way, at least in my opinion. Although to be completely honest, I doubt it was JC’s actual goal, therefore I’d call it rather a side effect.

Fate/Grand Order Saber Wars II Space Ishtar and Calamity Jane Banner Pulls

The Revival: SABER WARS 2 - To the Beginning of Space - Lite event just started in the Fate/Grand Order (FGO) mobile game.

This came with the Revival: SABER WARS 2 Pickup Summon banner which features the following chars:

Thoughts about Avenger Space Ishtar

I like 5-star SSR Avenger Space Ishtar from Fate/Grand Order (#ad) well enough, I suppose, but wouldn’t really call her a fave or anything. Well, I do like the art of her 3rd Ascension and her alt costume.

But right now, don’t really know much about Space Ishtar. That’s because I didn’t get to play through the Saber Wars 2 event when it first showed up.

Or at least, I’m nearly 100% certain that I was on a hiatus from FGO when the aforementioned event happened. So I don’t know anything about the story of said event.

What gives me pause and what makes me wonder though is the fact that I apparently have 1 copy of the 5-star SSR Craft Essence (CE) Princess of Red Bean Paste, 1 copy of the 4-star SR CE Planet Rock, and 1 or 3 copies of the 3-star CE Cultural and Martial Arts (Simultaneously). These Craft Essences are also on rate-up on the Saber Wars 2 banner.

Since I wasn’t playing the game when the Saber Wars II event was ongoing, have no idea where and how I got copies of the aforementioned CEs.

Pretty sure I really wasn’t playing FGO during Saber Wars 2 because I don’t even have any copies of the shop CEs, don’t have the featured Command Codes or Space Ishtar’s alt costume, the Mystic Code that apparently only came with this event, and don’t know anything about the story either.

Maybe these CEs were also featured on another event or something. I know I was able to play through the first Saber Wars event although that happened what feels like forever ago.

Anyway, my main interest in Space Ishtar is primarily because she’s a really good Arts looper under the so-called “Double CAstoria System”.

This involves using 2 5-star SSR Caster Altrias or Artorias plus 1 DPS who has an Arts Noble Phantasm (NP). Hoping to get at least 2 copies of Space Ishtar from the Saber Wars 2 banner.

Don’t know anything about Calamity Jane and not really interested in her. Doubt I’d get her anyway.

Because I can still remember how I failed to get 4-star SR Lancer, Mysterious Alter Ego Λ (also known as Mysterious Alter Ego Lambda, Lambdaryllis, and Meltryllis).

Threw all the Saint Quartz (SQ) and Summon Tickets that I had on her banner but sadly, Lancer Melt never showed up.

The 5-star SSR on that banner was Foreigner, Abigail Williams. Wasn’t interested in her. Only pulled on said banner for Summer Meltryllis.

But somehow I ended up with 3 copies of Abby and 0 copies of Summer Melt because eff this game. I talk more about that in another post.

Now I’m just hoping that I’ll be able to get Space Ishtar as “easily” as I was able to get 3 copies of Abigail Williams.

Also hoping that I can get at least 1 or 2 copies of the 5-star SSR CE The Black Grail. My copy of this CE is stuck at Level 60 of 60. Need 2 more copies in order to be able to fully MLB this CE.

Revival: SABER WARS 2 Pickup Summon Banner Pulls Results

Currently, have 135 SQ and 46 tickets on hand. Already got all the tickets in my gift box as well as the ones available in the shops and such.

As for the Saint Quartz - still have a lot in my gift box and as SQ fragments. Decided to roll with all these SQ and tickets first.

Fate/Grand Order now has a “pity system” but it costs 900 for 1 rate-up SSR. If you happen to get the rate-up SSR before spending 900 SQ, you’re not guaranteed to get another copy even if you keep pulling until you spend 900 SQ.

In short, this so-called pity system sucks. I doubt I even have 900 SQ even if I get all the Saint Quartz I have in my gift box and as fragments.

Don’t want to have to pity Space Ishtar anyway even if I can afford it because I’d like more than 1 copy in order to further increase her damage output.

Anyway, so I started using my tickets first. Here’s a list of the notable Servants and Craft Essences that I was able to get from this banner.

Didn’t bother to take screenshots of everything though, especially since more often than not, I just ended up getting bronze and silver trash.

One of my summon tickets gave me my first copy of 4-star SR Berserker, Frankenstein.

Well, at least she’s new. Still, wish I could have gotten Space Ishtar already. Also don’t really have a use for Fran since I already have other Berserkers.

Her NP isn’t even Arts so she doesn’t have synergy with Caster Altria. And, unfortunately, don’t have my own 5-star SSR Caster, Scáthach-Skadi, the premier support for Quick-type chars.

After a few more tickets, I was surprised but super pleased when a gold Avenger card showed up. Hell, yes!

So happy to see this turn into my very first copy of 5-star SSR Avenger, Space Ishtar.

Was down to around 30 or so tickets when Space Ishtar showed up. IIRC, I got her a bit before the end of my second 10-draw.

Wasn’t keeping exact track of this since I was just tossing tickets on the Saber Wars 2 banner so can’t remember for sure anymore.

Still have 26 tickets left but for now, decided to try my luck with a multi-draw using 30 SQ. This brought my 135 SQ down to 105 SQ.

Was hoping to get another copy of Space Ishtar but instead I got my very first copy of 4-star SR Archer, Calamity Jane.

Well, at least she’s new. Not really interested in her though. And right now, I just find myself thinking back to my pulls on the Summer Meltryllis and Abigail Williams banner.

How come Melt who I really wanted never showed up at all and yet Jane who I’m not even interested in actually appeared on my first multi on the Saber Wars 2 banner? Sigh.

The rest of this multi didn’t give me any other gold which sucks. I did get a new 3-star CE but didn’t bother even looking up more details about it. This wasn’t even the rate-up 3-star CE. LOL.

Decided to do another multi-draw. This time, I got a gold Berserker card.

This turned into my very first copy of 4-star SR Berserker, Penthesilea or Berserker of El Dorado.

This reminds me of how I also got some off-banner 4-stars on the Summer Melt banner. Was really pissed off because how could I get these off-banner SRs and yet not a single copy of Lancer Meltryllis who was supposed to be on rate-up?

Anyway, this multi also gave me 1 copy of the 4-star rate-up CE and 1 copy of the 3-star rate-up CE. Other than that, the rest were all basically trash and useless.

Decided to go back to using my tickets since the results of my multi-draws weren’t really that good. Couldn’t even get the rate-up 5-star CE.

Thankfully, my tickets ended up coming through for me again since a bit later on, I was able to get another gold Avenger card. Hell, yes.

Yay for getting my second copy of Space Ishtar.

So happy that I was able to get Space Ishtar to NP2.

Used up the rest of my tickets but sadly, wasn’t able to get any more copies of Space Ishtar or anything else of worth.

Tried another multi-draw but this one turned out to be crap too. Well, I did get 2 copies of the rate-up 5-star CE plus 1 copy of the rate-up 3-star CE but still. It sucks that I wasn’t able to get even 1 gold Servant on this draw.

Technically, I should be done with this banner now since I was able to get NP2 Space Ishtar already. But since I still have some SQ, I’m wondering if maybe I should keep pulling.

Maybe I should try for NP3 Space Ishtar? Maybe my remaining resources will give me more copies of her. Maybe I can even get another copy of The Black Grail.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that I’ll be able to get anything good if I continue to pull here. I could just end up with crap and more crap.

Maybe I should just save the resources that I have left and just leave this banner alone already. But I don’t know. I kinda feel like pulling some more. Thought about this for a bit longer, considering the pros and cons, before deciding to just go for it.

Here are the results of the rest of my more notable pulls on the Saber Wars 2 banner. This time, I just stuck to doing single pulls.

Got more copies of the rate-up CEs but didn’t bother taking note of them anymore. Also didn’t bother to take screenshots if I got CEs that weren’t really of use to me.

5-star SSR CE, Volumen Hydrargyrum

This is like my second or third dupe of this CE. Not really pleased to see this. Can’t even remember the last time I used this Craft Essence.

Only bothered to take a screenshot of this because it’s a 5-star CE and - argh, if I was gonna get a 5-star CE, why couldn’t it have been another copy of The Black Grail instead? Sigh.

5-star SSR CE, Love’s Curse

This is my first copy of Love’s Curse. It seems like a decent enought CE, I suppose, but seeing as I only have 1 copy of this, I doubt I’ll ever bother to equip this when I can just use my fully leveled and maxed out Craft Essences like Aerial Drive and Golden Sumo.

4-star SR Saber, Rama

It was nice seeing a gold Servant card even though it turned out to be a Saber instead of an Avenger.

That Saber card then turned into my very first copy of 4-star SR Saber, Rama.

Well, at least I got a new Servant but still. Space Ishtar, doko da?

5-star SSR Lancer, Karna

A bit later on, got a gold Lancer card from a single draw. I thought I was gonna get a 4-star Servant again.

So I was really surprised when 5-star SSR Lancer, Karna showed up instead. Nice.

This is my very first copy of Karna. While I am pleased to see this, I do wish that I’d gotten another copy of Space Ishtar instead.

When I ran out of SQ, I went to exchange all my Saint Quartz fragments to get more.

When that ran out too, went to claim all the SQ I had yet to get from clearing missions like “complete x amount of interludes”, “complete x amount of rank up quests”, etc. Then I also started getting the SQ from my gift box.

Was able to get 37, 34, 42 and then 35 SQ from doing all of the above.

4-star SR Rider, Marie Antoinette

Another single draw gave me a gold Rider card.

This turned into a copy of 4-star SR Rider, Marie Antoinette. Ugh. Was really disappointed when I saw her because this is like my third or fourth dupe of Marie.

Haven’t even bothered to fuse the dupes of her that I already got because it’s been a long time since I last used her.

4-star SR Archer, Calamity Jane

Got my second copy of Calamity Jane although haven’t bothered to fuse them yet. After all, don’t really have any plans of using her.

Already have lots of other Archers that I can use so haven’t even bothered to level up Calamity Jane yet.

Continued pulling. A lot. Just kept on pulling and pulling and pulling some more. Even did another multi-draw. But it was all for nothing. Just kept on getting crap and more crap. No more gold Servants showed up. The few gold CEs I got were all useless.

I kinda regret continuing to pull on this banner. I could and should have stopped a few pulls ago like after I got Karna. Now it feels like I just wasted a lot of SQ for nothing.

I want to stop pulling already. But somehow, that’s easier said than done. For now, I’ve finally been able to tear myself away from this banner but I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep on resisting throwing more SQ here until the Saber Wars 2 event ends.

One moment, I really deeply regret continuing to pull here and want to just save what little Saint Quartz I have left for future banners. But the next, I feel the urge to keep on trying and hoping to get another copy of Space Ishtar and even The Black Grail.

I don’t know. I should stop. I should just walk away from this banner but I don’t know if I can. Maybe I’ll just keep on pulling until I’m completely out of SQ. I guess we’ll see how it goes.

5-star SSR Avenger, Space Ishtar

Anyway, I finally got ‘round to leveling up my Space Ishtar to the max. After getting her to Level 90, decided to Grail her to Level 100 to further increase her damage output.

Gave her the 3-star Fous. Would have given her the 4-star ones as well but I’m all out of those so will have to wait until the game gives me more.

Update: been playing through the Saber Wars 2 event so was able to get a few of the gold Fous already. Gave them all to Space Ishtar so she now has +1060 HP and +1040 ATK.

It’s gonna take a long time before I can get her to +2k ATK and +2k HP though since we only get a few gold Fous at a time.

Been using Space Ishtar already while I play through the Saber Wars 2 event so I now have her at Bond 5 of 10.

Got all of Ishtar’s skills to their max of Level 10. Unlocked her second Append skill (Load Magical Energy or Mana Loading) and maxed that out to Level 10 as well.

Still have some of her Servant Coins but I’m still trying to decide if I want to unlock her Extra Attack Boost Append skill 1, her Anti-Archer (ATK Up) Append skill 3, or level her up past 100. So I’ve just left her as-is for now.

Saber Wars II Story Event

Started playing through the Saber Wars 2 story event already. The story’s pretty good and interesting.

The event is pretty easy since we get damage-boosting CEs and I now have my own Space Ishtar for farming. Ishtar herself gets a damage boost in this event, which makes things even easier.

After clearing the main story, I was finally able to unlock Space Ishtar’s Ashtart Origin Spiritron Dress or alt costume.

Bought the item from the shop and spent the resources needed to unlock it so I have the option of changing Ishtar’s skin to this.

Revival: SABER WARS 2 Pickup Summon Banner Pulls Results Part 2

As I feared, couldn’t help but return to the Saber Wars 2 banner to keep on pulling some more.

Still just kept on getting crap and more crap though. It was really disheartening and frustrating. I wanted to stop but couldn’t seem to help it.

I felt like I might as well just keep on going until I was all out of SQ since I’d already wasted enough as it was anyway.

Aside from the useless trash I kept on getting, the rate-up CEs also kept on showing up. Ahh, if only the same can be said for the rate-up Servants. Sigh. Rate-up is a lie. LOL.

At one point, I got another new CE. Initially, I thought this was a 5-star CE but upon taking a closer look, this was actually just a 4-star one. Still wish this had been The Black Grail instead though.

The Craft Essence I got was called The Beginning of Ambition. It increases Arts card effectiveness by 10%. It also increases HP recovery amount by 10%.

Much, much later, just as I was once again lamenting the fact that no more gold Servants (not even 4-star dupes or something) have shown up even though I feel like I’ve already spent thousands of SQ on this banner, I was surprised when a gold card actually appeared.

Even more shocking was the fact that this turned out to be a gold Avenger card. I was trying to remember if there were other gold Avenger Servants in the non-limited pool but it was only now that I’m writing this down that I was able to clearly remember the existence of Hessian Lobo or the Avenger of Shinjuku.

Hessian Lobo is a 4-star SR Avenger that’s already spooked me twice. I’m so glad that that didn’t happen for the third time because this gold Avenger card turned into my third copy of Space Ishtar instead.

Hell, yes! NP3 Space Ishtar, let’s go! Yay! Really pleased to see this. Readily fused this copy of Ishtar to my main copy.

And that’s it. I really am done with this banner now. NP5 Space Ishtar would be really nice, of course, but I don’t think that’s gonna be possible unless I whale or get really, really lucky.

Don’t want to take my chances anymore. Besides, I’m close to running out of SQ by now so best to just cut my losses already.

Now I no longer regret continuing to pull even if it still sucks that I kept on getting lots of crap. At least I was able to get NP3 Space Ishtar and a few other gold Servants and CEs.

So, all things considered, this banner was actually pretty good to me. Hopefully, the next banner I pull on will be good to me as well.

On a side note, I ended up with multiple copies of the rate-up Craft Essences thanks to pulling on the Saber Wars 2 banner.

Got enough copies of the 3-star CE to be able to MLB 3 of them and then have 3 more left over. Was able to MLB 1 copy of the 4-star CE and then have 2 more left over. Was able to MLB 1 copy of the 5-star CE and then have 4 more left over.

I’m mostly done with the event now so the screenshots also show that I now have the shop CEs as well.

The arrest and detention of teen offender Stephanos (Story)

Stephanos was arrested in a raid on an illegal photoshoot, conducted by Teen Control Squaddies Aiden, Ben, Craig, Dean and Ethan. Dean was in command of the operation; Ethan filmed the procedure (for training and disciplinary purposes); Aiden, Ben and Craig restrained, subdued and detained the young offender.

The 19 year old was charged with violation of the youth dress code: the offender's singlet, exposing ripped abs, was cut so low it barely covered his junk. At the rear, straps between his butt cheeks left his glutes fully exposed. His muscular young body was totally shaved, the overall effect extremely provocative - completely unacceptable for a boy of his age. Photographs and video footage were seized.

The teen resisted arrest, requiring force - as had been authorized: Sq. Aiden beat down and restrained the boy, while Craig removed the offensive singlet, stripping the teen - who wore no underwear - completely nude. The young offender continued to struggle, requiring intervention by Ben, who stomped him into submission. To avoid further resistance, Craig used the singlet straps as a garrote to strangle the boy to KO. He was then cuffed and carried, naked, to the detention vehicle.

During his interrogation, Stephanos accused Sq. Craig of raping him while the other squaddies filmed the assault, masturbated and force wanked the boy himself to orgasm. A physical examination showed his butt hole to be bruised and revealed wads of cum up his arse. Traces of semen were found on the straps of his singlet - suggesting he had been fucked while wearing the provocative gear. His singlet pouch was soaked in cum, as if the boy had ejaculated into it. Regina eyed Emma as the blonde poured a secondhelping of her cider before sitting in the couch in front of her. The warmgolden hue of the light softened some of the sharp angles the younger womanseemed to be made of; shadows crawling up her cheeks, down the silver ofcollarbone exposed by the loose collar of the shirt she wore. There was notrick, however, for her jittery movements, the way her fingers trembled andjumped against the surface of the glass and Regina could do nothing but focuson those as she, too, swirled the tumbler, lost in thought. Careful as she wasof not letting the drink fall, Regina was able to feel the liquid through thebarrier of the glass; the temperature of the room and the cider itself similarenough for her to not dare to drink it. Gripping the tumbler as strongly as possible, she tilted her head while the younger woman spread her legs, elbows restingagainst her knees, middle finger and thumb the only connecting points that keptthe drink from falling down into the carpeted floor.

Tongue probing her teeth, Regina let out a shortsigh as she crossed her left leg over the right, the movement one a part ofherself -the one that hadn’t quite gone away after her own trip over time and magicalcurses- still found strange. Stealing yet another glance to the younger woman,Regina dived into Emma’s green eyes, at the touch of gold that, dissimilarenough from the light inside her studio, seemed to bounce from speck to speckof blue.

Gold suited her. The thought was loud enoughfor her to not be able to dismiss it quickly enough, and the brunette foundherself pushing her body away from her seat, the sound of her high-heels mutedbut still loud enough to let her breathe through her nose, nervousness takingover.

She could lie. She knew as much. She could lieand pretend so they both could feign Regina wasn’t aware that Emma would alwaysknow when she was being facetious. It would involve a far too convoluted planning;however, one Regina didn’t feel like going through. Not when her magic kept oncrackling inside of her, wave after wave crashing against her diaphragm as shetried to regain her bearings.

“Everyone owns a signature.” Her voice feltscratchy against her throat and, despite her reticence, she let the cider touchher lips for a split second while she gave her back to Emma, eyes lost now onthe paneling of the walls. There was just so much one could do, she reasoned;her mind’s eye conjuring not only the panicked look Emma had sported as she hadknocked on her door several minutes earlier but on the lack of a ring on herhands. A ring she had learned to hate the moment she had seen it sneaking itsway around pale flesh.  “A magic one.Signatures do not change: they aren’t linked to the type of magic one preforms buton what one is.”

She could hear Emma moving at her back, thesound of one hand brushing against jeans with strength enough to probably leavea faint imprint on the fabric making her swallow as her body was assaulted oncemore with the whispering heat of deep red. Red that was too vibrant, too powerful,against her usual lilac.

She had noticed the changes, of course she had;she had noticed the vein-like traces of red that had begun to appear every timeshe used her powers next to the blonde. The way dirty white had transformed intopale gold next to her; the vanilla-scented trace of it transforming into somethingdifferent, headier, the longer they went on practicing magic.

Which, she admitted as Emma sighed at her back,the sound of glass against the surface of the table one she vaguely registeredas she crossed her free hand over her stomach, fingers grazing the fabric ofthe dress she wore, magic classes hadn’t been all that strange for them bothever since she had come back. They had become a refuge from her duties as aQueen, from the constant scrutiny and vigilance. She had never asked outrightwhat Emma reason was but she still could feel it, pumping through the blonde’ssystem, fueling her spells.

And she could feel it once more now as she finishedthe remaining gulps of her drink: coming from the blonde’s body like cracklingenergy; tendrils and wisps of power that got tangled on hers. She refused to lookdown when she felt the telling signs of magic beginning to make an appearance,the red-colored glow strong enough for her to dig her fingers into her side,nails biting into her skin.

“Then why?”

Emma’s question was full of a careful nonchalance.Not exactly uncaring but cold enough for Regina to know the younger woman wastrying to feign an assuredness on their current predicament the question onitself destroyed. Pursing her lips together, Regina didn’t move when she feltEmma’s warmth getting closer, steps faint against the carpet, faux leather protestingas the woman rose her arms, the creaking sound the only thing that let Reginatime to prepare herself when she felt the tips of two fingers reaching for herback.

This hadn’t changed; touch wasn’t and had neverbeen part of their interaction. Not like Snow was with everyone around her.Their touches were just as careful as everything else; a delicate balanceRegina had found herself hating on. Which was precisely what made her shiver asEmma retreated her fingers, the point in where she had grazed her hot andholding a residual tingle that made the brunette feel drunk. Or, she thoughtwhile she glanced down at the now empty glass, stupid enough to maybe ask forit once more.

Her fingers were laced with red, burgundy andvermillion banishing lilac and mauve; electric currents mapping the veins ofher wrist before she was able to look away with a glimpse of gold making her gasp.

She knew, she berated herself as she felt Emma’ssilent presence as a second heartbeat: hers rushing through her neck. She knewthe color of magic after all, the theory behind the signature, the one she hadbeen so happy to not be like mother’s the first time she had performed somethingbig enough for it to show between her fingers. She knew what the paired colorsmeant, the fact that the red filled her vision solely when she was next to the otherwoman, heat, and darkness rendering everything else less important as she sunkinto the welcoming touch of gold. She knew.

How, however, was a thing that made her pause,afraid, unsure. Not because of the meaning on itself but of what it couldpotentially create, when there were too many gaps for her to fill. Didn’t shedeserve it, though? Licking her lips, she considered on turning, facing Emma’seyes as she spoke again, selfishness grasping her lungs as she breathed intothe ozone-like smell power left behind. She felt ravenous in a way that madeher head sway, skin tingling as she shaped the next sentence between her teethand tongue, vowels pushing through, air making vocal cords vibrate even beforeshe began to speak.

“Touch me again.”

It wasn’t an answer for Emma’s question andthere was an instant in where Regina feared the blonde would refuse. Glancingup, she wished for a reflective surface to spy the other woman’s face, the wayher eyes would probably be narrowed, sharp on their assessment of Regina’scommand. Ultimately, however, she felt fingers touching her spine, between hershoulder blades, delicately enough to make her close her eyes, lost in thoughtas she felt gold rushing through her, turning into red, deep, rich red thatmade everything else pale and grey. Back arching, lips parting, she could feeleach drop of red as blood, extending from the point where Emma kept on touchingher with child-like fascination.

“Regina.”

She heard the plea on Emma’s words, the way thewoman’s voice was strained, and Regina felt her muscles sag as electricityjumped and sparkled behind her eyelids, sharp enough to cut through her skin,embedding themselves into her bloodstream, blossoming deep inside of her.

“Look at me.”

Emma’s command held the same carefulness of before,but it was less brittle, and Regina found herself shaking her head.

“I don’t want to.” She could feel her lipsmoving but it was a faraway feeling, the kind of one she could disconnectherself from if she tried hard enough if she focused enough not only in the vermillionbut in the gold as well, in the aura,the two of them brought to her.

“Please.”

She turned, she felt her legs moving, herbreathing changing when Emma finally grasped her forearms, careful, slow. Yet,she didn’t open her eyes, not really wanting to, not ready for it.

“You know what it means.”

It didn’t come as a protest but acceptance andRegina felt her lips curve in a smile. A minute one, the kind of one that wouldnot be an answer to anyone else but the blonde in front of her. The one thatfelt closer and closer with each passing second.

“You do too.” Tilting her head, Regina finallylet her eyelids raise, the change of lighting quick as haloed by sparks no oneelse would be able to see, Emma mirrored her movements.

“I do?”

“Yes.”

Red surged forward, swallowing Regina whole. Redlike blood, like life.

which are hirako's most important relationships and why?

Relationship, singular.

I’m joking, but I’m also not joking because every single relationship he did have, he was prepared to sacrifice without hesitation for one (1) tall glass of sad.

He was profoundly affected when Arima told him, “You’re like me, you have that same emptiness,” I imagine for two main reasons: first of all, it was an admission of weakness on Arima’s part (the unstoppable shinagami is human after all!) and a way of bridging a gap in their personal relationship, allowing them to speak openly and honestly about their individual emotional struggles ( —I mean, that never actually happened, but there was at least a foundation there); on top of that, another human being tells Take that they relate to him. Someone he deeply respects, someone from whom he desperately needs validation, someone who he sees as the opposite to himself - charismatic, skilled, useful, with a strong sense of purpose - sees themselves in him.

And then in addition to that, Arima genuinely trusts him. Like, a lot. He trusted him with his blindside, with his past, with his peers (the Garden kids), with his plan… Arima sort of provides for him posthumously in a sense too, at least in Take’s mind, by offering him an objective and… kind of a surrogate family.

For the record, I’m aware that that’s a little bit of a stretch but (!) I do think it’s an interesting thought when you consider his decision to appoint Akira (who was always coded as cold and distant) as a ‘parent’ to Haise, esp after losing Kureo, Seidou and Amon. She developed more maternal characteristics and formed genuine, positive relationships with him and the Qs; I like the idea that he wanted both Hirako and the Garden kids to experience a similar sense of family, and it’s super sad that that never materialised.

So whatever sense of purpose he eventually finds comes from his relationship with Arima, and the trust Arima places in him. We’re never given any real glimpse into his personal life but, in terms of work, he doesn’t care about promotion (it seems that both he and Arima actively tried to remain paired for as long as possible), he doesn’t care about CCG protocol (he challenges his superior officer, Hachi, twice) and he isn’t particularly interested in killing ghouls either (he suggests imprisoning Irimi rather than killing her and, when Haise says he wants to apologise to Hirako for letting Orochi escape, Arima straight up says, “I don’t think Take cares.”)

There’s a reason why he never wrestles with his decision to defect like, say, Akira does - his loyalty was never to the CCG. It was solely to Kishou.

To be clear though, he’s loyal to a fault and it’s a big part of what negatively affects his contribution to Goat/the Dragon War. 

Aside from Arima, I think the relationship that’s most important to him is with Koori, and forgive my incredible laziness here but I’m gonna direct people to this great meta by @linkspooky because it perfectly explains how the two foil each other in their pursuit of Arima’s legacy. They share a mutual respect for one another and they’re established as equals, but for competing reasons.

His relationship with Kuramoto is really interesting bc Kuramoto kind of inherits two of Take’s biggest weaknesses: (1) he believes he’s only useful as a follower and doesn’t believe he’s capable of assuming a position of leadership (a fear that’s immediately realised when he loses almost his entire squad during his first mission as Sq Leader). Obviously Take does assume leadership of S0, but he constantly defers - even after Arima’s death, he describes himself as “merely an underling”; any 'decision’ he does make is just an earlier command from Arima, and, other than that, he simply responds to Kaneki’s directions rather than co-operating with him to make more practical decisions.

Anyway, Kuramoto’s lack of self-belief is the result of (2) never having received the validation he requires from his superior (sounds familiar wow), to the point where he becomes depressed after Take’s defection and seems to blame himself for some reason (”I thought he believed in me”). In spite of that, Kuramoto remains as steadfastly loyal to Hirako as the latter does to Arima; there’s never a conversation about how hurt or confused Kuramoto was. He makes a few friendly jibes but he happily accepts Take back and re assumes his position as subordinate without any issue.

It’s proof of Hirako’s painful lack of self-awareness, as well as his inability to understand the needs of anyone around him other than Arima, I think. Where Arima consciously distances himself from his subordinates and deliberately withholds praise (or whatever) from others in spite of their need for it, Take is completely oblivious to those needs.

I also think the relationship between Take and Renji is kind of rewarding, even if it is really brief. [Yeah, I know, yawn, Áine likes Homo.]

First of all, it underlines once again that Hirako doesn’t have any deep-rooted hatred for ghouls and, in fact, he’s quite comfortable talking to one as an equal. He’s friendly and complimentary, even. It makes me wonder a lot more about his past and why he enrolled in the Academy in the first place.

Their conversation in the café is… super muddy, and it’s both good and bad in a way that reflects the moral grey that carries through to the end of the manga imo. Hirako listens to Renji as he explains why he’s hurt and angry and struggling to come to terms with this new alliance. Cool. And then responds by basically saying “what’s done is done, your sister’s dead, my boyfriend’s friend’s dead, we just have to forget about it and blindly move forward based on our single commonality”, which is... not really very productive, and absolutely not Good Détente, like that’s… not how conflict resolution works. But it’s something I guess, and an uneasy alliance that they both agree too, which it’s indicative of how the ghoul/non-ghoul conflict is handled (or not handled) right up until the end of the story..

I think there’s a general perception that Take buries his thoughts/feelings and doesn’t speak because he’s repressing them, so I think it’s refreshing and interesting to see him communicate very openly and directly with a total stranger about lacking a sense of purpose in life, desperately seeking validation, honestly admitting to now knowing where to go from here...

As someone who is incredibly open about pretty much everything but uncomfortable putting themselves at the centre of a conversation, and also needs space to actually gather whatever thoughts need to be expressed before being able to actually communicate them to others, it was weirdly relatable to see him suddenly so comfortable and frank. It’s more of a personal reading I guess, I think a lot of people prob read that as a little out of character.

Garo Robe - CR3 Undead

A robed ninja spirit, based on the Zelda enemy of the same name.

Although they appear to be humanoids shrouded in long cloaks, garo robes are empty shells with nothing beneath the robe.  They’re the remnants of warrior spies with a strict code of honor who committed ritual suicide in a way that left no body behind, in order to prevent their enemies from learning the information they had.  Many of these warriors, animated by their own willpower, return as undead and continue to gather information in death, haunting the locations where they were assigned to.

Garo robes are capable of working in groups and even following the same chain of command that they followed in life.  They’re not, unfortunately, particularly capable of realizing that their war has long since ended.

Garo robes hide from their enemies, and begin battle by creating a ring of fire in the surprise round.  Once the ring of fire has been created, they dash quickly in and out of it to attack.

I previously posted the Stalblind and Bongo Bongo, two bosses from Legend of Zelda.  I also want to give a shout out to The Legend of Zelda: An RPG to the Past for more Zelda creatures, races and items converted to Pathfinder 1e, including some stat blocks for living Garo that haven’t yet become restless spirits.

Death Throes (Su) When a garo robe is slain, its body combusts in a flash of white-hot flame. This acts like a fireball that deals 4d6 fire damage in a 10-foot-radius burst.  A DC 13 Reflex save halves the damage.  A garo’s gear and treasure are unaffected by this explosion.  The save DC is Charisma-based.

Ki Points (Su) A garo robe has a pool of 4 ki points per day.  Its ki points can be used to fuel its various special abilities listed below.

Quick Run (Su) By spending 1 ki point as a swift action, a garo robe can take another move action on its turn, although its movement speed is halved during this extra move action.

Ring of Fire (Su) By spending 1 ki point as a standard action, a garo robe can create a ring of fire along the ground with a radius as small as 10 feet or as wide as 40 feet.  This ring of fire is a vertical sheet of fire that rises from the ground to a height of 20 feet along the edge of the radius.  The ring of fire inhibits visibility, causing attacks that pass through the edge of it to have a 20% miss chance.  The ring of fire must be initially centered such that the garo robe is inside the radius, but once it has been placed, the garo robe can freely enter and leave the ring of fire.  Creatures and unattended objects other than the garo robe that enter or end their turn in the edge of this ring of fire take 4d6 fire damage with no saving throw.

A garo robe can only create one ring of fire at a time.  A ring of fire lasts for 1 minute, or until the garo robe is destroyed or takes any amount of cold damage.

Two-Weapon Charge (Su) By spending 1 ki point as part of a charge, while wielding a weapon in each hand, a garo robe can attack twice at the end of the charge, once with each of its weapons.

 Officers Argue New Mexico Woman was Shot, Paralyzed, but Not Seized

In the dark early morning hours of July 15, 2014, Roxanne Torres dropped off a friend at an apartment building. Around the same time, New Mexico police officers Janice Madrid and Richard Williamson arrived in an unmarked car. They were in plain clothes and tactical vests with police indicia. The officers had an arrest warrant for a woman unrelated to Torres. Officers Madrid and Williamson saw Torres parked outside the building and approached the car. The officers reasoned that either Torres was the target of the warrant or knew something about the target.

Madrid and Williamson stood on each side of Torres’ car without identifying themselves as police officers. They repeatedly commanded Torres to “Open the door!” and “Show me your hands!” Torres neither heard the commands nor saw any indicia identifying Madrid and Williamson as police officers. All she saw were two strangers with guns and dark clothing trying to access her car—Torres thought Madrid and Williamson were carjackers. 

When the officers tried to open the car door, Torres drove forward fearing for her safety. The officers believed Torres was going to hit them with the car. In self-defense, the officers drew their service weapons, aimed at Torres, and fired 13 gunshots as Torres drove away. Two bullets struck Torres’ body. One bullet pierced her back, paralyzing her arm.

Torres drove a short distance before colliding with another car. Torres laid down on the ground and asked a bystander to call 911. Believing the carjackers were still in pursuit, Torres took an unattended running car and drove to a hospital 75 miles away. Due to her injuries, Torres’ was airlifted to a larger hospital. The next day, the police arrested Torres at the hospital.

The Fourth Amendment

The Fourth Amendment confers a right upon people “to be secure in their persons . . . against unreasonable searches and seizures.” Seizure applies in two ways. One way is through the application of physical force to a person’s body. For example, placing handcuffs on a person. Seizure also applies when a show of authority causes a person to submit. For example, when a law enforcement officer commands “stop,” and the person stops.

All seizures must be reasonable. The reasonableness standard is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. The standard employs the perfectly “reasonable person”—a fictional character created by the judiciary. A seizure is likely reasonable when there is an arrest warrant. Warrantless seizures may be reasonable when there are exigent circumstances, evidence that is in plain view, consent, or probable cause for a person’s arrest.

Excessive use of force may deem the seizure of a person unreasonable. Force is excessive when it is greater than what is reasonably necessary to detain someone or make an arrest. Circumstances dictate whether the use of lethal force was reasonable when seizing a person. For instance, while an officer may not shoot an unarmed suspect fleeing on foot, an officer may shoot a suspect fleeing in a car that is about to run them over.

Was the Force Excessive?

Section 1983 of Title 42 of the United States Code (42 U.S.C. § 1983) allows a person to sue law enforcement officers for excessive use of force. Law enforcement officers may be held personally liable for damages when they violate constitutional rights, such as the Fourth Amendment. The judicially created doctrine of “qualified immunity” protects officers from personal liability. Qualified immunity is neither written in the Constitution nor established by Congress. The Doctrine protects public employees from being sued and held personally responsible for injuries caused in the normal course of their duties as long as they did not knowingly violate “clearly established statutory or constitutional rights.”

On October 21, 2016, Torres sued officers Madrid and Williamson under Section 1983 for use of excessive force. The officers filed a motion for summary judgment stating an excessive force claim requires a seizure. They argued that since Torres fled, they never seized her. Therefore, Torres cannot have an excessive force claim. The trial court agreed and granted the officers’ motion. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit affirmed the decision that the officers did not seize Torres. Torres asked the Supreme Court to hear her case, and the Supreme Court granted her petition.

What Constitutes a Seizure?

In Terry v. Ohio (1968), the Supreme Court noted that “not all personal intercourse between policemen and citizens involves ‘seizures’ of persons. Only when the officer, by means of physical force or show of authority, has in some way restrained the liberty of a citizen may we conclude that a ‘seizure’ has occurred.” 

In California v. Hodari D. (1991), the Supreme Court held that a “seizure” requires either physical force or submission to police authority. Since then, appellate courts have disagreed on the meaning of “submission” in the context of police authority. The Supreme Court did not find that a seizure occurred in Hodari D. when officers chased a suspect without making any contact because an “arrest requires either physical force . . . or, where that is absent, submission to the assertion of authority.” The Court found that “[t]he word ‘seizure’ readily bears the meaning of a laying on of hands or application of physical force to restrain movement, even when it is ultimately unsuccessful.”

The D.C. and First Circuits say that encounters similar to Torres’, where there is temporary compliance to a show of authority followed by flight, may constitute submission. The Second, Third, Ninth, and Tenth Circuits contend that compliance followed by flight is not submission.

This case presents an opportunity for the U.S. Supreme Court to resolve the circuit split over the definition of “submission to police authority.”

The Case for Torres

Despite her temporary escape, Torres contends she eventually submitted to police authority and that officers Madrid and Williamson seized her when they shot at her 13 times, striking her twice.

The application of force with the intent to restrain constitutes seizure. The Fourth Amendment protects peoples’ right to be “secure in their persons.” Unless justified, any bodily intrusion violates the Fourth Amendment. Cheek swabs, blood draws, fingernail scrapings, and breathalyzer tests require probable cause. All of them are significantly less intrusive than intentionally shooting at a person and striking them.

Officers Madrid and Williamson shot at Torres with the intent to restrain her, striking her twice and paralyzing her arm. Here, the Supreme Court precedent in Hodari D. applies: “[t]he word ‘seizure’ readily bears the meaning of a laying on of hands or application of physical force to restrain movement, even when it is ultimately unsuccessful.” The shooting constituted a seizure, even when Torres continued to drive away.

If seizure requires a restraint on movement, then the officers seized Torres. The bodily injury caused by the officers’ bullets, paralyzing Torres’ arm, restrained her movement and forced her to stop to seek medical attention. The eventual stop is a submission to police authority resulting from the lethal physical force used by officers Madrid and Williamson.

Unreasonable physical force used in a seizure violates the Fourth Amendment. This seizure was unreasonable because Madrid and Williamson used lethal and excessive force when they shot at Torres 13 times. The officers were standing at the side of the car and no one was in imminent danger of being run over as Torres drove away.

People trust law enforcement officers because they are held accountable by the Fourth Amendment. When violated, they are personally liable for damages. The judicial doctrine of qualified immunity offers protection against personal liability and ensures there are no impediments for law enforcement officers to discharge their duties so long as they exercise reasonable use of force. Here, a reasonable person may find Torres in submission and seized by the gunshots, even if she was able to escape from the shooters who she thought were carjackers.

The Case for Officers Madrid and Williamson

Without physical restraint or submission to police authority, there can be no seizure. Without a seizure, there can be no violation of the Fourth Amendment. Without a constitutional violation, officers Madrid and Williamson cannot be liable for any damages.

The Supreme Court precedent in Hodari D. and Terry v. Ohio clearly state that a seizure requires (1) restraint on a person’s liberty, even if followed by flight; or (2) submission to authority—regardless whether voluntary or involuntary. There is no seizure when a person does not stop.

First, officers Madrid and Williamson did not seize Torres because they did not physically restrain her. Torres did not respond to any verbal commands and drove away from the officers, unencumbered. Not only did Torres flee the scene, but she drove more than 75 miles away.

Second, the gunshots directed at Torres by Madrid and Williamson, including the two that struck her, did not cause Torres to submit to police authority. Instead, she continued to drive away. The force used by the officers was reasonable and proportional to the danger of being run over by Torres as she drove away. The officers responded in fear of their lives when Torres nearly ran them over. Had Torres stopped immediately after being shot, terminating her movement, then a reasonable person may have likely considered her seized for purposes of the Fourth Amendment. She neither stopped, nor was her movement terminated by the gunshots.

Torres’ conduct and account of the incident show that she felt free to leave and that she did not perceive herself as being seized by the officers’ gunshots. At no point did the officers take possession, custody, or control of Torres and at no point did Torres submit to police authority. Therefore, the officers did not seize Torres.

What is at Stake?

The 42nd Congress enacted Section 1983 to hold government officials personally responsible for upholding constitutional rights. Since then, the Court has largely promoted deference to politically accountable bodies. It even developed judicial doctrines that left victims of police violence and abuse with no realistic chance of recovery. Affirming the Tenth Circuit’s holding will further add to the already high barrier excessive force claimants must overcome to prevail.

Law enforcement officers enjoy unparalleled protections from accountability. They have powerful police unions, the “blue wall of silence,” free legal representation, sympathetic prosecutors, and reluctant juries. Police officers and the municipalities that employ them also have Supreme Court jurisprudence that is heavily tilted in their favor. With doctrines like “qualified immunity” and legal interpretations that favor police, such as the Torres case, the courts have afforded police officers with nearly complete immunity for their actions.

The Supreme Court constructed the legal doctrine of qualified immunity in 1967. During those years, police violence and use of lethal force against civil rights groups and activists were widespread. In Pierson v. Ray (1967), the Supreme Court responded by extending police officers the benefit of the doubt for enforcing the law “in good faith and with probable cause”—a high barrier to overcome. 

The Court then made it nearly impossible for excessive force claimants to prevail by requiring any violation of rights be “clearly established”—another judicially constructed doctrine. That means, for a plaintiff to prevail, another court must have previously encountered a case that is similar in all respects, where the officer was found not immune.

The question before the Court is whether the use of lethal force to restrain a suspect constitutes a “seizure” under the Fourth Amendment, even if the force does not terminate the person’s movement or result in physically restraining the suspect. 

Police shoot people to physically restrain and seize them. There should be no limit or precondition for a court to examine the justification of a shooting under the Fourth Amendment. Inquiring whether a particular bullet succeeded in immediately stopping a suspect is a condition that limits judicial inquiries to police shootings that results in fatalities or paralysis. A police officer’s bullet is an undeniably severe bodily intrusion. A person’s movement after being shot by the police should have no bearing in the seizure analysis. Resisting or escaping capture, detention, or arrest after being shot should not dictate whether the Fourth Amendment applies.

In the “Rights of Man,” Thomas Paine concluded that no one should trust “[a] body of men [that hold] themselves accountable to nobody.” The Supreme Court may not have the prerogative to address the longstanding structural roots of police violence against civilians. However, the Supreme Court has a duty in our tripartite government to upend the exploitative and discriminatory culture that has led to less police accountability. 

The jurisprudence surrounding police violence and use of excessive force communicate to poor people and people of color that their lives are dispensable. The courts are the final salve for beleaguered communities that lack political influence, suffer the most violence at the hands of the police, and are treated with a punitive and unforgiving system. Policing neither exists in a vacuum, nor is it severed from its history. Policing is another tool in the social order that exacts, extracts, and exploits poor communities, contributing to cyclical violence and enshrining the dispensability of poor civilian lives, especially people of color. The courts should review cases such as Torres accordingly.

Affirming the Tenth Circuit’s holding does not only continue the Court’s trajectory in shielding law enforcement officers from liability, it would even bar the basic reasonableness inquiry into the force used by police officers. Under the Tenth Circuit rule, only the fatal use of force would involve the Fourth Amendment. Adding another barrier for excessive force victims to overcome renders the constitutional accountability in Section 1983 obsolete. In affirming the Tenth Circuit holding, the Court risks becoming what Justice Benjamin Curtis in Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857) decried: a body that has “abandoned the fixed rules which govern the interpretation of laws” and is controlled “by individual men, who for the time being have power to declare what the Constitution is according to their own views.”

The Justices will hear arguments on October 14, 2020.

In this post, we’re discussing a prayer for protection and guidance that is easy to use.

Angel protection prayers can be used for protection for family and protection at work, and they can also call in a feeling of security in all situations.

Archangel Michael is one of two primarily Angels mentioned in the Bible, the other being Gabriel.

For this reason, people call on Michael in times when they need support with the physical needs of life, in areas of home, protection, work, and health.

Michael is the Angel of truth and righteousness. He is thought to guide others to always do what is right, and in turn, this usually turns into guiding a person into doing what is right for all they watch over and love.

You can call on Michael to gain security at work, for healing, to watch over those you love, and to be guided towards protecting and loving acts and resources for yourself and others. 

He guides people towards safety and to a safer world. He can help people have more pleasant sleep by infusing them with the feelings and thoughts that they are protected.

Today, thank you, Archangel Michael, and all the Archangels for guiding me to a place of relative safety and comfort in my place of existence, starting now. 

Thank you for sending me the advance knowledge and energy signals of what is before me, so that I can be better prepared and able to respond to any situation, in all the ways I am needed. 

Thank you for providing me with protection from hazards at home and at work, and for offering this same security to my loved ones, and all of their loved ones. 

Thank you for sending me the energy of light from the Heavens and Source so that I can feel this protection flowing to me and through me. 

Thank you for clearing my emotional guidance system daily to know the path of what’s safe for me, bringing me closer to the truth, faith, and wisdom of life. 

Thank you for continuing to send me secure beings, to bond with, in love. 

Thank you for sending me protection and stability in all my relationships, especially with those who are joining me on this next leg of my journey, starting now.

Thank you for inspiring these beings to watch over me and protect me where I am unable, and for the courage needed to do the same for them.

I appreciate the occasions in the past where security was offered to me before it was needed, and for the circumstances that come when the security arrives in similar or better ways, and the awareness to see it.

Thank you for healing my energy body to a state of wellness so that I am secure in mind, body, and spirit and for healing me from past pains, so that I can continue to build a sense of security and protection in my life.

I am now open to any and all signs of security and protection in my life, and for the awareness of these signs, and moving ahead, in the knowledge and arms of comfort.

After you repeat this prayer, I like to visualize the prayer for 5-10 minutes flowing out of me into the Universe as light, going to work where it is needed.

This allows the energy to set and begin to manifest in your life.

If you see repeating number signs such as 1:11 or 1:44, or 4:44 this is often a positive sign your prayers were heard and an indication of support. 

Archangel Michael is known for white-blue light, and Angels can communicate through birds. So if you see any white-blue feathers or bird signs from blue birds after you complete this prayer, this can also be an indication that your prayers were received. 

Archangel Michael often communicates with those he watches over by sending a feeling of serenity and security in the heart, along with an unexplainable sense of calmness and comfort around, even amidst chaos and disruption. 

People who radiate Archangel Michael’s energy through them from calling through his energy in prayers or meditations will often show courage and balance in times of need, which can be helpful. 

For this reason, Archangel Michael is sometimes also known as the deliverer of courage or hope, offering the reassurance that it’s safe to continue.

Michael can communicate by linking us with Kindred Spirits, souls who genuinely understand us on a soul level, where communication without words is possible. 

So finding and linking with Kindred Spirits in and around the time you complete this prayer can be another sign of Michael’s presence.

Whenever you say a prayer to Michael or any Angel, for best results, clear your energy and keep your chakras open to receive for as long as possible afterward. 

This will make it easier to receive signs and evidence it has been heard, through greater awareness of any incoming synchronicities.

Additionally, Angels will sometimes communicate by healing your energy field first, called an attunement. This puts you in an energy state where you can receive their next blessing or message. 

With a clean energy system, you will be able to feel this aspect coming in when you call on the Angels.

To me, to be able to feel them even before you get a sign is one of the best parts of the connection.

We generate an astronomical, rapidly growing amount of data. 

The world’s network of humans and machines generates astronomical volumes of data. It is estimated that the digital universe will size about 175 zettabytes by 2025[i]. And this volume is growing exponentially. Of course, a significant percentage of this is just noise or also fake, low quality and unreliable. But subsets of this data describe most types of human activity at a global scale, and at the same time, at an amazing level of detail.  

Along with the events coming from connected devices and the measurements from billions of sensors – this massive, growing data set forms a new type of ‘global memory’: a vast amount of time-series of events and signals, machine states, news, opinions, research findings, discoveries, social interactions, decisions, environmental measurements and more. The historians of the future will be able to look back and reproduce the planet’s activity with a granularity of seconds. The machines of the future will be able to consume and make sense of our reality in ways we cannot even imagine. Of course, there are substantial ethical questions and concerns regarding ownership and usage of this data: how might we use, protect and leverage humanities’ accumulated data in an ethical way and for the greater good? This question could be an excellent theme for innovation on its own as we should not rely on the political will and corporate social responsibility; regulation is only a part of the solution. Technology itself can provide excellent ways of data ownership and ethical use.

  Our data processing capability is impressive; but still limited. 

Current data processing technologies are capable of making sense of the vast amounts of content we produce. Sophisticated algorithms can identify non-obvious patterns in the data and generate insights that make applications and devices smart. Statistical and machine learning algorithms allow optimal, real-time decision-making in complex situations – for example, powering autonomous cars to react in optimal ways, enabling systems to identify cyberattacks or controlling the traffic load of a smart city. The world needs novel methods to experience and make sense of the massive data we generate. Intelligent interactive synopsis, personalized insights, ‘data navigation’ systems, VR and AR experiences to visualize complex ‘data worlds’, voice-driven insights are just some examples of potential innovations in the data space.
