All Things Yara:
Santo Gusto Coffee Company
When you think of Yara, you might immediately think: tobacco, Viviro™, guns, and crocodiles, but did you know that Yara grows, produces, packages, and distributes its very own coffee.
Tumblr media
Founded in 1882, Santo Gusto Café has been enjoyed by Yaran from all walks of life from the peasant toiling the fields to our very own El Presidente, Antón Castillo.
Growing Coffee
If you want the best coffee, you start with the best soil. Our coffee is grown in the lush foothills of Robustas Hills in El Este region.
Tumblr media
One of many coffee plantations in Robustas Hills, Sierra Perdida, El Este.
Individual farms grow the coffee under strict regulation by the Yaran government. They use only organic and 100% natural fertilizer.

Growing coffee is certainly a labour of love.

Harvesting and Processing the Beans
Small individual farms around the Sierra Perdida province grow, harvest, and locally process the raw beans. They are hand picked, cleaned, and dried in the Yaran sun. Afterwards, the coffee beans are sent to Santo Gusto Coffee Factory for further processing and packaging for distribution.

Santo Gusto Coffee Factory
Every stage of coffee production is highly regulated by the government of Yara to ensure top quality of the final product, and for this, there is constant FND (Fuerzas Nacionales de Defensa) presence on location at the processing facility. Moreover, cameras, security systems and armed guards make approaching the facility problematic, let alone visiting it.

Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!
Coffee is an important industry for Yara’s economy and makes up for ehhh 37% of all jobs. It is responsible for creating employment for countless Yarans, from farmers, factory workers, to delivery truck drivers, and coffee shop owners.

Sponsoring Street Racing?
Santo Gusto Café is itself overseen and partly funded by Yara’s government, but the company remains independent enough to sponsor community events. It is the main sponsor for a highly popular annual street race.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The race sets out from the small community of Santo Domingo.
Tumblr media
Santo Domingo, Sierra Perdida, El Este.
The course twists and turns through the muddy trails of Robustas Hills and anyone with a pickup with decent enough suspension can take part.

Contestants don’t race against one another simultaneously, but rather against the clock for muddy glory. This is to keep the event relatively safe since the course does run through a main road as well.

If you enjoyed this article and would like to learn more about activities, places, events, and all things Yara, come back and visit this page often and follow us on Tumblr!
Tumblr media
Stay tuned for an exclusive guided tour INSIDE the factory!
Editor's Notes:
Coffee growers being so strictly regulated by the Yaran government, some take it upon themselves to grow a little extra and sell it on the side. You gotta make a living wage somehow.
Tumblr media
Also, don't be fooled: orgánico, shmorgánico. The wind doesn’t care about your feelings and PG-240 compound IS in your coffee. Lo siento.

Oaxaca - Santo Domingo
When the Dominicans were invited to come to Oaxaca they built their grandest monastery in the city of Oaxaca, Santo Domingo de Guzman. Yes, Saint Dominic was from the Spanish family Guzman.
Work on Santo Domingo began in 1551 but it wasn't inaugurated until 1608.
Santo Domingo sits on the hill at the opposite end of Alcalá, the pedestrian street, forming the northern anchor with the cathedral and zocalo as the southern.
Tumblr media
It's by far the largest and grandest of the Dominican monasteries we visited this year. The inside is the most richly decorated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are several large gilded retablos in the side chapels too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the ceiling under the choir is a large family tree of St. Dominic. It is doubtless a little embellished.
Tumblr media
The large front is impressive day and night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like all the monasteries it suffered when the state closed them and it was put to various uses: stable, military base, warehouse, etc. The church was closed to worship from the 1850's to the 1870's.
The monastery is now a cultural museum, and the grounds are a Ethnobotanic Garden. Both are excellent institutions.
The monastery has been excellently restored and maintained. Last time we were here they were finishing a newly carved retablo for a side altar and were applying gold leaf to the whole thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We didn't visit the museum or garden this year, having done that several times, but I think next year it will be time for both.
The community had to fight to get the military base closed and create the Ethnobotanic garden. The garden features local plants with a focus on their uses in Oaxacan culture, which can be fascinating. You need to be on a guided tour of the garden to enter and that makes sense as the guide will explain the uses of all the plants. The first time we went through we were with the Frontera Restaurant group and it really enhanced the experience to listen to the discussion between Rick Bayless and the guide.
The streets around the entrance are a focal point of Oaxacan life with music, art, crafts, food from street vendors and restaurants. It's almost always interesting to walk through the area.
For me, a visit to Oaxaca is really not complete without a visit to the area and to the church itself.

Blog 8 – An Andalusian Christmas (and birthday)
We arrived in Jerez de la Frontera on the 3rd December. The purpose of our journey from Tarifa to Jerez was to enable us to travel to Arcos de la Frontera, to stay in the beautiful Parador on Jo’s birthday.
We arrived at one of the two privately run Aire’s in Jerez at about midday. After setting ourselves up we were invited to the reception for a glass or two of sherry (also sold on the premises) we’ve now become sherry lovers!!. We were told by Pablo (the owner of the Aire) that it would be very busy in town that day but he didn’t explain why, so after our sherries we walked the 2 miles into the town centre – along a very wide and modern boulevard. On arrival at the northern edge of the new town we noticed a large crowd outside a church (it turns out that it was a convent Claustro de Santo Domingo) and as we got closer we could hear singing, so we went to investigate. This was our first experience of Zambombas, which is an Andalusian tradition apparently started in Arcos and Jerez of carols sung in flamenco style, which are participatory and include dancing, drinking and eating. In Jerez that Saturday afternoon and evening the rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the large crowd in every Plaza in the city.
This was why the Aire was so busy, and busy with Spanish van owners, they’d all come to watch the Zambombas. It appeared to us that the zambombas in the different plazas were organised by different associations. It gave the city a really lovely feel as we wandered round. That evening we dined at a fantastic tapas restaurant – Avanico. Highlights included sardines on toast, mojama (air dried tuna) served with walnuts and olive oil and the oxtail cannelloni. The next day the weather improved so we had more of a wander round the old town visiting the Cathedral, seeing the outside of the Alcazar (it closed just before we got there) and witnessing the hustle and bustle of a busy city on a Sunday with restaurants and bars exceptionally busy. That Sunday proved to be the last nice day we’d see for a little while, as it started to rain that evening.
The next day we left Jerez for Arcos having arranged to return in late December to safely store Toa, Toa, Toa when we spent a week in Seville. Pablo told us that we were likely to experience 3 months rainfall in the next week or so and he wasn’t wrong.
We arrived in Arcos de la Frontera on the morning of the 6th December and after a brief tour of the centre of the town checked in to the Parador, which is sited in and old historic house on the side of the precipice, with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. The stay in the Parador was a bit of luxury to celebrate Jo’s birthday which we did in style although the evening meal didn’t quite live up to expectations as the Turbot was overcooked. Arcos is described as the prettiest of the Andalusian White Villages and after checking out of the Parador the next day we explored the village a little more. Whilst Arcos has an imposing position on top of a cliff, was full of historic buildings (palaces and churches) many of them were in states of dilapidation which we hadn’t seen elsewhere in Spain, this surprised us.
The next morning, we decided we’d stop the night in Medina-Sidonia and just as we were about to set off it started to rain heavily. By the time we arrived at Medina-Sidonia and parked up at the car park outside the town’s cemetery the rain had stopped, so we explored the town. The first thing we came across was a brass band concert in the large imposing church which is located beneath the remains of the castle. Whilst exploring further the rain restarted, so after a quick drink stop in Bar Simon (we had to didn’t we) we returned to Toa, Toa, Toa to sit out the rain. Well, I have to say that we’d never experienced rain like it – it was biblical in its intensity and the length of the heavy downpour. After the rain stopped, we decided to go out to watch the town’s planned festivities around the town square – only to find out that all of the outdoor events had been cancelled due to the weather. On returning to Toa, Toa, Toa Jo discovered that we’d sprung a leak which soaked our bed – so that night we slept on the third bed in Toa, Toa, Toa which was very cosy indeed.
The next morning, after carrying out a very temporary repair (sticking a thick plastic sack to the roof of the motorhome we moved on once more first to Chiclana de la Frontera to do a load of washing and to dry some of the clothes and bedding which got a soaking the day before. Whilst we were at the laundrette I emailed a number of motorhome repair shops to book Toa, Toa, Toa in for a repair.  After doing our business in Chiclana de la Frontera (a working town close to Cadiz) we moved onto Los Canos de Meca, to spend some time on what I would describe as the best Aire we’d stayed on in Spain. At Los Canos we spent three nights parked within sight of the lighthouse at Cape Trafalgar enjoying the sunshine, drying out Toa, Toa, Toa fully and borrowing a Dutch fellow camper’s dog to walk along the beach. Whilst we were in Los Canos, we confirmed a date that the repair to the skylight could be undertaken and moved on first to Vejer de la Frontera (another beautiful White Village) and then to Conil (a seaside resort) where we spend a few days dodging rain showers and strong winds and keeping our fingers crossed that the temporary repair would hold (which it did). After the repair was completed to Toa, Toa, Toa (thanks Autocaravan Conil) we moved onto Cadiz – experiencing another biblical downpour on our approach to San Fernando.
We parked up in Cadiz opposite Playa de la Victoria – where we stayed for the next 6 nights. We loved Cadiz, another beautiful city which we explored in some detail over the coming days whilst we were either running, walking or cycling. In Cadiz we watched more Zambombas and after watching the “Strictly Come Dancing Final” enjoyed a late-night visit to tapas bars in the centre of town “El Canon” was our favourite. On the Sunday we had a lovely lunch out at Taperia de Columela which was stunning and included a beautiful paella, a fish stew and a shrimp salad. We decided we could easily live in Cadiz - a combination of culture, beach and great food.
On the 20th we moved on to stay at El Puerto de Santa Maria, where we had agreed to spend Christmas and meet up with a couple of members of our Glastonbury Family - Paola & Richard. We had booked a space on a campsite in the town for 6 nights but after having a walk around the site we decided that we’d wild camp beside the beach. We did this for one night and then decided we’d explore a little more of the area and moved onto spend two nights in the beautiful Sanlucar de Barrameda, which is on the opposite side of the Rio Guadalquivir to the Parque Nacional de Donana. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to visit the National Park whilst we were in Sanlucar (out of season and the boat trip across only runs when there is the requisite number of passengers) but we did get to visit Bodega Barradillo and sample some of their exquisite sherries and sample some of the excellent seafood available from local restaurants. Sanlucar is a beautiful town full of stunning old houses and the sight of the fishing boats returning to port at sunset is one of great beauty.
We returned to El Puerto on the 23rd and that afternoon we met up with Paola and Richard and Paola’s family (mum, sister, brother-in-law, 2 nieces and brother) and spent a lovely afternoon and evening eating and drinking and watching Zambombas being performed in the restaurant. We left at about 9.30, getting a taxi back to the park up spot – both very drunk.
The next day Christmas Eve we had booked a table at the very nice restaurant El Laul, based on a recommendation from Paola. We walked the 5km’s each way to and from the restaurant – getting rather sweaty on the way there as it was hotter than we’d expected and we stopped to watch some more Zambombas in the main plaza. The meal itself was amazing – the pickled mussel cake being the star of the show.
We spent a relaxing Christmas Day on the beach catching up with family and friends via FaceTime and WhatsApp, having a gourmet buffet lunch and plenty of bubbles and going out in the night to look at the Christmas lights in the town centre.
On Boxing Day, we met up with Paola and Richard and spent the afternoon and evening in their company and did the same on the following day, where we met with Paola’s mother and sister and a vast number of her friends and got to watch a rock and roll carol concert.
We had a fantastic Christmas in El Puerto, a beautiful town a ferry ride away from Cadiz which is full of Bodega’s, historic buildings and possibly the largest bullring in Spain. We’ll be forever grateful to Paola, Richard and the rest of Paola’s family and friends for making us so welcome and making our Christmas away from family and friends so special.
On the 28th we left El Puerto and made the short journey to Jerez where we spent a day washing and drying clothes and packing for a week away from Toa, Toa, Toa. We left her in storage for a week whilst we travelled by taxi and train to Sevilla, to spend a week with our son Tom and his partner Vickie. We had booked a two-bed apartment which was fairly central and we spent a lovely week with Tom & Vickie – eating, drinking far too much, exploring Sevilla and all it has to offer which is an amazing city and also introducing Tom & Vickie to the delights of Cadiz for a day. Highlights included a fantastic New Year’s Eve dinner at Az Zait where we experienced the 8 course tasting menu, catching some Flamenco, plenty of games of cards and the three Kings visiting a bar we were drinking in (the night before Three Kings) and the superb markets. Not being local and not being aware of what happens on New Years’ Eve in Sevilla meant that we missed out on the local festivities, which appeared to have taken place earlier in the evening but we certainly heard the late-night fireworks. We left Tom & Vickie on the morning of the 5th to get our train back to Jerez and they left to get their flight back to Gatwick, hoping they’d enjoyed their week away, as much as we had.
On arrival in Jerez, we were advised to go into the town centre to catch the Three Kings Procession, which we did and caught the Three Kings arriving at Claustra de Santo Domingo by horse drawn carriage, accompanied by cavalry and a marching band. We then caught the procession as it left one of the City’s main parks. The procession can only be described as a colourful carnival with hundreds of floats which contained groups of people dressed up for the occasion who were all throwing sweets to the crowd which was about 10 deep on each side of the road. We returned later in the evening to watch the climax of the day but unfortunately the timetable given to us by tourist information wasn’t particularly accurate and we arrived outside of Claustro de Santo Domingo to catch the very end of events – but that was pretty special.
We both feel that the Spanish (an in particular the Andalusians) do Christmas much better than we do in the UK The Spanish version has much more to do with the original Christmas Story (children receiving presents on 12th night) and is much more communal (as demonstrated by Zambombas). In addition, in each town we visited you could visit any number of amazing nativity scene’s (Belen’s) many of which were works of art and the Christmas light displays even in small towns were amazing. Finally, the welcome and the warmth of the Andalusian people at this time of year was something special
We loved our Andalusian Christmas.

"So, where are we this week, girl? Hawaii, Puerto Rico?" Bobby asked and you smiled, looking around the dirty Canadian dive bar.
"Santo Domingo. Gotta love the Dominican," you lied.
"Where you really?"
You took a drink of your beer and picked at the peeling vinyl of the table top. "Saskatoon. Cursed church bell, drives people to suicide when they hear it."
"Need help?"
"Nah. I've got this. Just need to convince the vicar to let me melt down a bell that's been part of their church since the 1800s. No big deal." You sighed and scratched at your turtleneck. "How are they?"
"Thought you didn't wanna know about them, Y/n."
"Didn't want to be attached to them. Not the same thing."
Bobby sighed. "They took a trip through Heaven a few days ago...got a message from the big man Himself."
"God? They talked to God?" you asked, eyes wide.
"Talked to someone talks to God...and God said they're on their own."
"Sounds like God...handle it yourself but worship me for 'guiding' you." You rolled your eyes. "Sam isn't taking that well, is he?"
"Dean's taking it worse."
"What? Dean doesn't care about God."
"Think it's more that God was the last hope and He ain't playin'. What are we even supposed to do now, right?"
"Right." A hopeless Dean Winchester was a problem. No telling what he might do. “I’m sure everything will work out. If God isn’t worried, then I guess we shouldn’t worry.”
"Well, I hope you're right, Y/n." You nodded. You were hoping the same. "I'll call next time we got something new."
"Okay. Good luck, Bobby."
"You too."
You slid your phone into your pocket and took a drink of your beer. Things would be fine...or they wouldn't. Only time could tell.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
You didn't answer when the call came in from Dean's number. You didn't answer five minutes later when the call came in from Dean's other number. You pulled off into a gas station when your phone dinged with a voicemail message.
"Shoulda known you wouldn't answer...but I really wanted to hear your voice, Y/n. Guess your outgoing message will have to do." He cleared his throat. "I've been thinking about you since you left. Nothing is ever right when you're gone. I think you need to know that. I know why you left. I know I was never really good at being with you. I didn't give you a reason to stay. I should have. But you...you had to leave. You had to make that hard decision and I love you for that. Nobody wanted you to make that decision, to free us, but it was the right choice and I love that you made it. I love you for calling me out on my bullshit. You always did that for me." He sniffled and you could imagine him wiping at his eyes. "And you always kept tryin', even though I pushed you away all the time. You should have given up on me a long time ago and you didn't. I love you, Y/n. I should have said it a long time ago...but more I should have showed you. I should have showed you."
You wiped at your eyes and bit your bottom lip. "I really hope you got to see the world, but if you're on the home continent…stay away from the Midwest. I don't know how big the fight's gonna get."
"Oh, God. Dean, what are you doing?" you whispered as you clicked out of your voicemail to call him back. He didn't answer. "Damn it, Winchester!" You called his other cell, but still didn't get an answer. So you called John's cell. "Where’s Dean?"
John sighed. "Indiana. He's on the goodbye tour."
You rolled your eyes. Indiana meant Lisa. Of course. "He's going to say 'yes', isn't he? After everything, he's going to give up?"
"We aren't going to let him. Sam, Castiel, and I are on our way to stop him."
"You better. He does not get to give up."
"We won't let him," John promised.
"How?"
"We've got an angel on our side, remember? And Castiel really isn't happy about Dean throwing away his sacrifice. We'll keep him safe."
You let out a sigh of relief and nodded. "Let me know if anything bad-"
"Don't worry. We're gonna take care of him."
"Thank you, John."
"Maybe you should call him, though."
"I tried," you responded. "He didn't answer." You shook your head. "It's fine. Get his head on straight. It'll be okay."
"Right. It'll be okay."
"Bye, John." You hung up and set the phone on the passenger seat. You looked up at the sky through your windshield. "I know you don't care about what your angels are doing, but please don't let Dean say 'yes'. Please. I don't ask for a lot but please give me this."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"You should come to Detroit." Bobby's words didn't seem worried. Everything about the tone said it was past time to worry.
"What happened?"
"Sam said 'yes' and-"
"What?!"
"It was supposed to be the end of it, Y/n. He was supposed to get control back from Lucifer and jump into the Cage. It was a good plan. Dean and John even approved it, much as they could, ya know, and it-"
"He really thought he was gonna get control from the Devil? Of course it didn't work!" You ran your hand down your face and dug your fingers into your collarbone through your shirt. "So Lucifer has his perfect vessel...what about Michael? Dean didn’t…"
"No, but John's other son did. Heaven brought Adam back from the dead."
"That was nice of 'em. The dumbass said 'yes' because of course he did. So...the fight is...is happening."
"Yeah." He waited a moment. "Come to Detroit."
You sighed. The End. The end of the fight. The end of trying to stop it. The end of the End. "I'm on my way, Bobby."
There was a dark cloud over the city when you pulled the Firebird in next to the Impala in the alleyway outside their hotel. You could feel the hopelessness in the air as you opened the door Bobby indicated in an earlier text and walked in. Dean's eyes raised to meet yours as Bobby rushed to you and wrapped you in a hug. You dropped your duffel and wrapped the redneck in your arms, happy to see him up out of the wheelchair.
"Since when do you walk again?"
"Oh." He looked down at his body as he stepped back. "Demon deal. Added perk. It's a long story."
"Family tradition, those demon deals. At least you got something good out of it."
"Fer a few days."
You patted his shoulder and smiled. "Comes down to it, all we got is a few days at a time."
Dean stood and stepped toward the doorway. "Hey."
"Hey. I'm sorry...about Sam. I know you were all hoping-"
Dean opened his arms but didn't hug you. He waited for you to step into the embrace, green eyes shining with unshed tears as he waited for you to make your choice. There wasn’t a big choice there. Hold a grudge...or hold the man you love. You stepped into him and wrapped your arms around his chest. His arms closed around you and you felt warmth and anguish in the way he held you. There was pain in his scent, anger and hopelessness, but there was a little niggle of comfort as he pressed his lips to your forehead.
There wasn’t a lot said. It was the first time it really felt like a last night on earth. Even the Angel seemed to recognize that things were done. The fight was over. Everything was about to be over.
“I want you to know,” Dean whispered as the sun started going down.
“I know,” you answered. You knew what he would say. It held different significance on a night like that one.
“No. You don’t. You really don’t know...I’ve apologized for pushin’ you away, Y/n, but I need you to know...I thought I was doing the right thing for you. I love you.”
“Dean. I know. Shhh.”
“You’re everything I ever wanted.”
“Everything you ever wanted Sam to have,” you corrected. “Now, shush.” The silence lasted for a few minutes before Dean left, saying he needed some air.
“We did everything right and it doesn’t even matter in the end,” John said, staring at the ceiling.
“Nah. We didn’t do everything right...and it does matter. What we do is more important than anything.” You sighed and leaned forward, resting your head on your knees. “I should have gone to Thailand.”
“Don’t you want to be here with us in your last moments?” Bobby asked.
“Yeah. But I wish these weren’t the last moments.”
Castiel nodded in agreement, before standing. “We should go down...Dean is-”
“Leaving,” you guessed, rushing down to the alleyway without waiting for the others, approaching as he looked in the trunk of the Impala. “Dean?”
“You goin’ someplace?” Bobby asked. “You’re goin’ to do somethin’ stupid. You got that look.”
“I’m gonna go talk to Sam,” Dean answered, heading for the driver’s door.
“You just don’t give up,” Bobby chastised.
“It’s Sam!”
“If you couldn’t reach him here, you’re certainly not going to be able to on the battlefield,” Castiel tried.
“Well, if we’ve already lost, I guess I got nothing to lose, right?” Dean reasoned.
“Boy, this is a bad idea. I don’t wanna lose both of you,” John said.
Dean shook his head. “Too late.”
“I just want you to understand...the only thing that you’re gonna see out there is Michael killing your brother,” Castiel said.
“Well, then I ain’t gonna let him die alone.”
You watched Dean drive away, knowing that he was on his way to his death. “Fuck. We should follow him, right?”
“No. We need to figure out how to even up the chances a little,” John offered. “Hail Mary brainstorm session. Come on. Let’s do this.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“So...we’re all gonna die,” you said, looking around the room. “We are going to this fight...the fight...to pull distraction long enough for Dean to maybe get through to Sam long enough for Sam to sacrifice himself and throw himself and Lucifer into the Cage. We’re going to die.”
Everyone took deep breaths and nodded. “It’s our only shot,” Bobby said. “For the whole planet, Dean is our only shot.”
“And like the boy said...if we’ve already lost, what do we have to lose?” John said.
"Might as well go down doing something potentially beneficial,” you whispered. “Okay...let’s do this.”
Castiel teleported you to Stull Cemetery just in time to hear Dean tell Michael that he needed five minutes with Lucifer. “Hey, assbutt!” Cas called out, holding up his Molotov cocktail of Holy Fire. The bottle exploded as it hit Michael and he went up in flames. The Angel didn’t last long after that. Lucifer didn’t appreciate the Angel from the lower choir ‘dick’ing with Michael. Castiel exploded into blood and chunks of Angel.
Dean demanded Sam’s attention, but only Lucifer could hear. He grabbed Dean, intent to beat him to death, but Bobby shot at the Archangel, which earned him a snapped neck. John launched himself at Lucifer next and he was thrown across the cemetery, hitting a large stone angel statue. Michael reappeared as Lucifer was beating Dean’s face in with Sam’s fists. You grabbed Adam’s jacket, trying to keep Michael from stopping the altercation. Dean was getting through. You could see it in the hesitation on Sam’s face. You couldn’t let Michael stop it.
“You stupid fucking monkey!” Michael growled, wrapping Adam’s hand around your throat. You sputtered and kicked as he clenched his fist around your neck, cutting off your air. The sound your hyoid made when your throat was crushed like a soda can followed you into the darkness.
So did the sound of crickets. But that wasn’t right. There shouldn’t be crickets in Heaven.
Your eyes blinked open slowly, a sky full of stars greeting you before being filled in by the vision of hazel eyes and a smile. “John? Why are you in my Heaven?”
“Not Heaven, kid. We’re alive, Y/n. Castiel brought us back.” He offered you his hand and you sat up, allowing him to pull you to your feet.
“Who brought Cas back?” you asked. “Because didn’t Lucifer blow him to shit?”
“Yeah. Can only assume God brought him back, just like last time he was blown up by an Archangel.”
“Well, that’s...very nice of God considering that he...didn’t want to help.” John nodded, but he seemed distracted as he let his fingers move to encircle your wrist. “What’s wrong?”
“You...smell really good,” he whispered, his cheeks going pink. “I should…” He cleared his throat and stepped back away from you. “Think everything got renewed.”
You reached up and gingerly touched the area where your concave scars were. You were met with plush, plump skin under the fabric of your turtleneck. When you pulled the shirt away from your neck, you were met with completely smooth skin. No marks, no scars. Pristine.
"I'm…"
"Omega again." John licked his lips and stepped further back. “Unmarked, pure omega.”
“I’m...this is insane. I can’t believe he just...made me...a normal omega again.”
John nodded and cleared his throat. “I think it’s a real good thing, don’t you?”
You nodded and smiled. “I think it’s an amazing thing.”
“Why don’t we go ahead and see if we can find Dean.”
You smiled a bit sadly. “I know where Dean is.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Watching Dean through the front window of Lisa Braeden’s Cicero home made your heart crack. The pain was immense, a longing taking up residence in your chest as you watched Dean hold her, his nose buried in the crook of her neck. Scenting her...his omega.
“You could knock,” John suggested, shoving his hands in his jean pockets. You were sure he was trying to keep from physically comforting you. As much as you wanted the comfort, you appreciated John trying to keep his distance more. “You know he’d be happy to see you alive.”
You shook your head. “No. He’s dreamed of this, John. He dreams of her.” You clutched at your shirt collar. You'd changed into a v-neck on the way to Indiana, excited to show Dean but you knew now that it didn't matter. "He deserves her...and the kid...and any kids she might give him of his own. He deserves to be happy. Let's just...let's go."
"Are you sure?" John asked as you turned away.
"My car is in Detroit. Let's go."
You stared out the window as John drove. It was a blow but not one you couldn't overcome. Dean wasn't ever going to be yours and it was best for you to recognize that and move forward. You were a brand new omega. No marks, no scars from cutting the old marks out. No Dean. No Sam. John, well, he was being nice now but it was going to be best for you to stay away from him, too. You would do best by yourself just like you had since you cut your marks out. You were better alone.
"Don't leave yet," John said as he pulled the stolen car in beside your Pontiac. "You should get some sleep. Get a room, get some rest. Don't drive on this."
You reached over and set your hand on his cheek. "Underneath it all, you're a good man, John. I really appreciate it when you let that man out for me." You swiped your thumb across his cheekbone and smiled. "I'll get a room...but not here. Detroit is not a good place...it's where we lost Sam. Get some rest yourself, though."
"You've got my number. If you ever need anything, Y/n, I'll be there."
You nodded and smiled tightly. "I'll try not to need anything." You got out of the car and headed for yours. Maybe you'd actually travel the world this time. Maybe you'd just hunt the same as always. But you were going to try to not need a damn thing.
You drove out of Detroit and headed South, not stopping until your eyes began to vibrate with lack of sleep. You pulled over into a rest stop and turned off the car, lying the seat back and curling up on your side, waiting for sleep to take you.
Dean would be happy. That was the important thing. Dean was going to be happy with his normal life and you could be happy saving lives...without an alpha. Without anyone. Just you and the road and a good hunt...until you died.
You dreamed of Dean. You dreamed of taking Lisa's place in the normal life...so that you could be what Dean deserved. But even in your dream, Dean made excuses. "I love you...but I can't mark you." "I love you but I can't be with you." "I love you but…"
You blinked your eyes open a few hours later and gasped to see a figure in your passenger seat. You sat up and stared wide-eyed at Sam. "Am I still asleep?"
"Well, I'm not Dean so I'm guessing you're awake."
You ignored the gut shot about Dean and reached into the back, quickly splashing holy water on him and waiting for the sizzle that never came. You pulled your silver knife next and Sam dutifully offered his hand. "Why do you idiots always go for the most nerve-heavy extremity when getting cut? Take the jacket off and give me your bicep or roll your damn pant leg up, you jerk," you snapped. Sam just smirked as he pulled his jacket and flannel off. You were really expecting him to burn with the silver but he didn’t...and moreover, he smelled like Sam. He was not a ghoul. You laughed as you dropped the knife in the center console. "How in the world did you get out of the Cage? I know how hard it is to get out of Hell, but you went into Lucifer’s Cage."
"Can't tell ya." Sam shook his head. "Just woke up in Stull Cemetery, went to check on Dean, saw you and Dad...decided to follow you."
"Why didn't you say something in Cicero?" you asked, analyzing Sam's face. He seemed off. Why would he follow you instead of talking to you and John? Talking to Dean?
"You were with Dad...and I could smell you from across the street, Y/n...I knew you came back all new and improved. Wanted to see what you would do about that. Turns out...nothing."
"You didn't tell Dean you're back?"
"Neither did you." Sam tilted his head and smirked. "He thinks we're both dead...and that means he's gonna stay in Cicero with Lisa. He's going to live a normal life with a normal woman. He's not going to die on some job before he reaches forty. He deserves that...and that's why neither of us knocked on that door."
"So, you're just gonna dive back into the work headfirst and...forget about Dean?"
"Forget? No. But I'm going to leave him the Hell alone. He left me alone at Stanford for years until Dad disappeared and Jess died. Don't you think he deserves the same treatment?"
You looked away and pulled your seat up straight. "Of course he does. He deserves everything.”
“So, we’re going to let him have it, right?”
You nodded. “Yeah.”
Sam reached out and set his hand on your knee. “And we can have what we deserve.”
You looked down at his hand, disgust filling you. “Remove it, or I will remove it for you.”
“Come on. You don’t really have a reason to deny me. Not with Dean with Lisa.”
You reached down and pulled his hand off of you. “Dean is not the reason I denied you, Sam. Why are we backtracking here? You seemed to understand this before.”
“We had fun before, didn’t we?” Sam asked.
“It doesn’t matter if we had fun...because the fun stopped mattering as soon as you marked me.” The discomfort you were feeling in his presence made you slip your hand under your seat and pick up your pistol. “You were going to rape me, Sam. That kinda ruins any future fun.”
“You would have liked it, Y/n. I wasn’t planning to hurt you too much.”
Having him admit to it so nonchalantly, with a smirk on his lips, filled you with an angry fear. He didn’t even seem to care. It was worse than when he was hopped up on demon blood. You pulled the pistol out and pointed it at Sam’s temple. “Get the fuck out of my car, Winchester.”
He chuckled and put his hands up. “I’ll see you when you get your panties out of that twist, Y/n.” He backed out of the car and turned, a bit of a skip in his step as he walked away. You hit the lock on your doors and turned the engine over. You’d have to do your best to avoid the resurrected Winchester...just like his father...just like his brother. Best to stay alone. Best to get away.

Do the monegasque family have to be so attractive during a pandemic? Also could you please explain some of the main members.I know Prince Albert and his little family and Grace Kelly only.
The Kelly and Casiraghi genes are great, the family members who got them are damn lucky haha. Sure.
So you know the main royal family. Prince Albert who is 62, he became Prince of Monaco in 2005. He married Charlene Wittstock, a South African swimmer who had competed in the Olympics, in 2011. They have twins, Jacques and Gabriella, who were born in December 2014. Gabriella is older but Jacques is heir as Monaco still has male preference primogeniture.
Tumblr media
Jazmin Grimaldi: Albert’s illegitimate daughter. Jazmin was born in the US in 1992 after her mother - then a waitress - had a fling with Albert. The Prince knew about her but didn’t spend time with her until she went to Monaco for the first time aged 11. He acknowledged her publicly in 2006 after a DNA test. Since then they have become close. Jazmin regularly spends time in Monaco and speaks very fondly of him. She is close to the younger Grimaldi cousins (particularly Pauline Ducruet, she’ll be covered later) and has been to official events with both Albert and Charlene. She is a singer and is dating Ian Mellencamp, the nephew of John Cougar Mellencamp.
Alexandre Coste: Albert’s illegitimate son (on the right with Jazmin in the middle). His mother is from Togo and was an air hostess when she had a relationship with Albert that lasted several years. Alexandre was born in 2003. Again Albert knew he existed and spent time with him; he eventually publicly acknowledged him in 2005. Alexandre is a lot less public but he is still a child - he’s only 17 - and has been heavily protected because he was acknowledged at a younger age than Jazmin. His social media is private and unlike his sister he hasn’t given interviews. But Jazmin has said he also lives part time in Monaco and they get on well as a family, and he has been to family events like weddings
Tumblr media
Princess Caroline: Albert’s older sister. She is 63. As Albert took so long to marry she took on a lot of the charitable roles her mother had established - she is Chair of AMADE which was founded by Grace and Chair of the Princess Grace Foundation. She’s best known for her fashion and her relationships. She is a style icon who was close friends with Karl Lagerfeld. She’s been married three times: first to Philippe Junot from 1978 to 1980; secondly to Italian business man Stefano Casiraghi from 1983 until he died in an accident in 1990, they had three kids; and she is currently married to Prince Ernst August of Hanover. They married in 1999 and have one child but are separated; Ernst August has been seen with a few other women but for some reason they don’t formally split. EA has struggled with alcohol addiction for a long time and has been put in a medically induced coma at least twice as a result of health issues.
Tumblr media
Andrea Casiraghi, Tatiana Santo Domingo and their children Sasha, India and Maximilian (Max is not pictured above): Caroline’s oldest child, born to her and Stefano Casiraghi in 1984. He did a BA in visual arts and international politics and has worked at the Monegasque embassy to Qatar. He’s also been involved in lots of charities, including AMADE. I’m not really clear what his job is now; until the twins were born in 2014 people thought he might end up being Prince of Monaco some day so he didn’t seem to invest much in a career. He married Tatiana Santo Domingo in 2013. He and Tatiana met at school in France. She is from a wealthy Colombian family who made their money in brewing. She is a billionaire in her own right after inheriting over $1 billion from her grandfather Julio. She has her own fashion label, Muzungu Sisters, and has modelled for Dior and Emilia Wickstead with her kids. The couple have three children who are all in line to the throne: Sasha (Alexandre) born in 2012, India born in 2015 and Maximilian born in 2018. They live/lived in London

Charlotte Casiraghi, Dimitri Rassam and Charlotte’s children Raphael Elmaleh and Balthazar Rasam: Caroline and Stefano’s middle child, born in 1986. Charlotte’s professional life has been group around three areas: horse riding (she has been honorary president of the Global Champions Tour and has competed in show jumping); fashion (she’s been an ambassador for Gucci and YSL and launched her own magazine focusing on sustainability) and philosophy (she has a philosophy degree from the Sorbonne and has written books about it). She had her first son, Raphael, in 2013 with her boyfriend at the time, comedian Gad Elmaleh. They split in 2015 without marrying so Raphael is not in line to the throne. In 2018 she had another son, Balthazar, with Dimitri Rassam. Dimitri is a film producer whose mother Carole Bouquet is a very well known French actress and a friend of Caroline’s. They married in 2019.

Pierre Casiraghi, Beatrice Borromeo and their children Stefano and Francesco: Pierre is the youngest child of Stefano and Caroline, born in 1987. He has followed his father into business and is the majority shareholder of the construction firm founded by his father, Engeco. He’s also passionate about sailing. He recently sailed across the Atlantic with Greta Thunberg and her father so she could attend the UN Convention on Climate Change without flying. In 2015 he married Beatrice Borromeo. She is a member of the aristocratic Italian Borromeo family who have been very powerful in Italian society for at least 600 years. She is a journalist who has done extensive work on corruption and the mafia. Unlike many royals she’s an atheist, politically left wing, and has pissed off other royal houses - mainly the deposed Italian royal family - by exposing their corruption. They had son Stefano in 2017 and Francesco in 2018.
Tumblr media
Princess Alexandra: She is the only child of Caroline and Prince Ernst August and is therefore a Princess of Hanover. She was born in 1999. She is a figure skater who represented Monaco in the European Youth Olympic Festival. She is dating Ben-Sylvester Strautmann who is a German basketball player. She lived a mostly private life but has started to become more public, appearing at fashion shows and recently doing her first magazine interview
Tumblr media
Princess Stephanie: The youngest child of Rainier and Grace and Albert and Caroline’s little sister, born in 1965. She got a lot of headlines in the 1980s through her risque modelling, her music career, and her relationships (she dated Rob Lowe!) She married her bodyguard Daniel Ducruet in 1992 and they had two children before divorcing in 1996. In 1998 she had a third child with her Head of Security Jean Raymond Gottlieb. She is a patron of the annual circus festival in Monaco and earned more headline when she moved her kids to live with an elephant trainer she began dating in 2001. She married her second husband, acrobat Adans Lopez Peres, in 2003 and they divorced in 2004.
Tumblr media
Louis and Marie Ducruet (and Pancake): Louis is the oldest child of Stephanie and Daniel Ducruet, born in 1992. He did a degree in Sports Management and worked as Assistant to the VP of AS Monaco football club. In 2020 he signed on as an advisor for Nottingham Forest football club. In 2019 he married Marie Chevallier who he met as a student. She manages events for Monte Carlo Casino. They have no children but do have an adorable dog, Pancake, who I love more than any other royal
Tumblr media
Pauline Ducruet: Younger child of Stephanie and Daniel Ducruet, born in 1994. She studied at Parsons and did internships for Vogue and Louis Vuitton. She launched a gender neutral fashion line, Alter, in 2018. She was also a competitive diver who represented Monaco in the Summer Youth Olympics.
Tumblr media
Camille Gottlieb: Only child of Stephanie and Jean Raymond, born in 1998. As her parents never married she is not in line to the throne. She works in PR for a club (which one I don’t know). She is also the founder of Be Safe Monaco which is an anti drink driving charity.

Ben Dj suona ogni sera e "Tic Tic Tac" regala a tutti energia
Assolutamente no...

Wait a second, if Taylor and Karlie's friends don't like each other then how do you explain Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid being friends with Taylor?
Cara Delevingne is literally Karlie's equivalent of Abigail, they've been best friends since 15 and they're so close with each other that they've literally been papped kissing each other goodbye on the mouth? And Karlie mentored Gigi for years? There's dozens of pictures of Gigi and/or Bella making heart-eyes at Karlie from before 2013 up until 2020? Gigi and Bella's Mom adores the shit out of Karlie too?
Este Haim went on a friend date with Karlie to a restraunt in 2017 and they were papped leaving the place holding hands? There is literal video evidence on Twitter of Karlie spooning Abigail from behind at the Nashville Rep Show? There's a picture of Ashley Avigone laughing because Karlie's bear-hugging her from behind? All three of the Haim sisters love her and partied with her in Morocco and let her declare that she's the 4th Haim sister in April 2019? The very Jewish Haim sisters just low-key wished Karlie, a jew, a Happy Hanukkah in 2020 by saying they wish that the 4th Haim sister also had a Happy Hanukkah? Lorde did a deep cleaning spree on social media last summer and unfollowed hundreds of people, but not the woman she publicly called "the shiny homecoming queen of my heart", Karlie?
The only friends of Taylor's that Karlie doesn't have pictures with that makes it looked like she dated them is Selena Gomez and Claire Winter? Taylor's friends loved Karlie, most of them actually seem like they wanted to make out with Karlie really, really badly?
Abby even put her own hands over Karlie's when Karlie was spooning her from behind and Karlie had her arms around Abby's waist and her body was flush against Abby's back? It vaguely looked like Abby and Karlie were having an illicit affair in the middle of the crowd on video at the Rep Nashville Show?
I can send you the link to the video of Karlie spooning Abigail if you want me to? These videos are still up on Twitter to this day but most people ignore them to suit their agendas. Abigail loved Karlie a lot, if Karlie betrayed Taylor it would've broken Abigail's heart too, Abby doesn't just let anyone spoon her intimately after all, but she let Karlie do it.
Cara isn’t Karlie’s equivalent of Abi lmao whatchu talking about? Karlie’s best friends in modeling are Toni, Jourdan and Ashley G. Maybe also Natalia but she’s older so they’re not as close as she is to the other three. Her and Cara are friendly but they’re by no means that close. Karlie’s best friend is Derek Blasberg who fucking hates the shit out of Taylor despite generally being a professional hype guy for famous people. Her other very close friends are Lauren Santo Domingo and Dasha Zhuokva. All of these people dislike Taylor and always have.
Idk about the spooning videos lol but Abi made that “real friends” post about the Nashville tour stop and there wasn’t even a whiff of Karlie in the pics lmao. They could’ve been dancing around and having fun at the concert but that doesn’t - to me - confirm a deep friendship or affection.
Ashley and Claire and Todrick and Martha and Tavi have all shaded Karlie online. I don’t know what’s not clicking lol.
Gigi and Kar are friends but they’re not super close either btw like I think Tay “got” Gigi in the divorce.
Like y’all don’t know stuff about Karlie’s actual friend group and it shows.
