Say Goodbye (pt. 6)

(This takes place before Amy gets to know the Egos or at least before she gets to know them very well.)

Anti falls asleep on the couch that night. As his eyes close, he sees Dark’s saccharine smile on the backs of his eyes, and the words that he said to Anti still float around inside of his mind. “Don’t worry, Anti. You’re welcome here with us. Stay just as long as you want.”

The next morning, Anti awakes completely surrounded. He glitches where he lays underneath the blanket Dark found for him as several more Markiplier Egos look down at him with careful brown eyes. They’ve encircled him so completely that Anti can hardly see past them.

Wilford wiggles his mustache. “You’re new.”

Bim pokes at Anti’s hair. “We’ve never had green hair before.”

Google crosses his arms over his chest. “He’s not one of us.”

“But he is an Ego,” Oliver adds. “I’ve scanned him. He’s a figment of… Jacksepticeye?” Oliver’s face lights up. “You’re Anti!”

Dr. Iplier leans in. “I’m sorry. Is your throat cut? Are you not dying?”

Anti glitches out of the circle of Egos and ends up with his back against the fire place. The others blink at him in surprise, and the Googles all take a collective step back. Google Blue makes a face. “You’re a glitch. Glitches should be deleted.” Red’s eyes burn brightly in the low light of early morning, and Anti flinches, not knowing what to do.

“Stand down, Google Red,” Dark commands from the doorway to the kitchen. “The glitch is on our side… for now.” The black and white figment strides into the room, resting a hand on Wilford’s shoulder. “Make our guest feel welcome, Will. He’ll need a hot bath and some food. You can take care of that, right?”

Wilford shudders out of Dark’s grasp and makes a face. “I thought that you…” Dark shoots him a pointed glare, and Wilford shuts up quickly. The pink Ego glances towards Anti with a small spark of curiosity. “Come on. Dark is right. You really need a bath.”

Anti, if he wasn’t so tired still, would look bother to try and look indignant, but he is tired. And right now, a hot bath sounds like heaven. “Fine.” Wilford shrugs and leads him into the back of the house, but as Anti passes Dark, he feels a gentle touch on his back. Something buzzes inside Anti’s head, and he swears he can hear a tinny ringing in his ears.

Wilford rubs the gray beneath his eyes with one hand and snaps his fingers with the other. Hot water appears in the bathtub, along with other necessary supplies such as soap, a rag, and bubbles, of course. Anti glances at the pink Ego out of the corners of his eyes. “You can do that?”

Wilford sags minutely and slumps out of the room. “I can do whatever I want when Dark isn’t running me ragged like this. Take your time. Green won’t be back with the groceries for a little while now.” He closes the door behind him, and Anti jumps to lock it quickly.

He sags against the door, relieved to finally be alone again after such a rude awakening. Anti glances towards the warm bath and nibbles on his bottom lip. He could leave now, slip out while no one is looking, find a computer somewhere and glitch back to Sean’s house. But a hot bath does sound so, so nice. And you’re so, so tired. Anti feels a little more of his energy sap away.

Well, he thinks, a little bath never hurt anyone, and it can’t hurt to get a good meal in before leaving. So, Anti opts to stay a while longer, just until he’s fully rested up and ready to return.

Somewhere in the house, Dark feels Anti’s stubborn will slip, and the Ego smiles to himself. Host senses it, narrating under his breath, and turns towards Dark. “What are you so happy about?”

Dark sighs contentedly and folds his hands behind his head. “Oh, nothing. Nothing at all.”
