Or we can do a trade where I tell you my world building headcannon that the Shinobi have a sign language (separate from common and once again separate from anbu) and it's all really formal business, attack, report etc language but there's random words like crow, bitch or whiny etc that have been made by some random people and caught on. It's funny bc they'll have a formal conversation with stuff like "the airborne red patterned mammal took the square shiny stone that was the target [of mission] and then the mammal loosened it's appendage and the stone moved downwards and located itself on the whiny small male humans head, His overseer is a bitch and would not hand objective [of mission] over." Etc

Also instead of it's raining cats and dogs they say it's raining summons.

Thinking about really small world building things tonight.

I'm bored, let's do a ROOT Sakura au.

Like many others, Sakura was recruited into ROOT young. She was taught to surpress her emotions and follow only Danzo's orders. During her training, it became obvious that she was good at manipulation and fooling others into believing she's nothing more than a weak girl.

This manipulation ability led Danzo to decide that he would send Sakura to watch over Naruto and later Sasuke. Having her make sure to tie bonds of loyalty to her so tight they wouldn't even dream of turning against her. Danzon did give her strict instructions that she was mainly to observe, and she would start her web when the time came. Until he says so, she does not interact, and should either boy die, then she would let it happen.

With her mission assigned, Sakura is enrolled into the academy. She would spend most of her days pretending to be a student and then doing ROOT missions during her off time. She was often assigned Sai as a partner if the mission required one.

It was when she graduated from the Academy that Danzo instructed her to start spinning her web around the boys. The team placements were . . . pushed in a certain direction so Sakura was on the same team as her mission assignments.

It took some pushing and prodding to figure what buttons to push, what facial expression gets what reaction. But once Sakura found a flow it made her mission much easier. Sakura doesn't fully understand what endearing the boys to her would do beyond the fact they'll care about what she cares about. No really explained that part to her. Her best guess though is that their emotions would make it harder to betray her, a living thing, than a concept like Konoha.

She's tried to practice the same tactics with Sai while on their joint missions, but it never quite worked the same with him. Like her Sai successfully got rid of his emotions, and their relationship was different than the one Danzo wanted Sakura to build among team 7.

Sakura continues to play the weak girl, the one who needs to be protected. A girl they would never suspect already doing anbu missions. She's thankful Kakashi barely pays attention to her. It makes her double life so much easier to maintain.

There's just one thing Sakura didn't account for. Those bonds she was building with the boys were a two-way street.

Her first slip-up was in the Land of Waves. On that bridge, she followed Danzo's orders to stay out of the fights. If either boy dies, they die. So, what was this feeling clawing in her chest? Why did she want to rush in and kill that masked boy?

When she saw Sasuke lying of the ground, dozens of sebon sticking out of his body, the tears that she cried were no where near fake.

Her second slip up was in the Forest of Death. Sasuke and Naruto were half dead from Orochimaru's attack. Why was she nursing them? It's not like she needs to pass this exam. She actually has strict instructions to fail them so she doesn't gain much attention before the third exam. So why was she doing this? Is it because she wanted to? She liked seeing them get better? It doesn't make any sense. Her mission would be easier if she let their injuries take them out.

When the three Sound genin appeared, Sakura knew she had to put on a different show. While she has strict instructions to not interfere if the boys die she also knows Danzo would have her head if that traitor Orochimaru got a hold of the last Uchiha. That pesky team 10 watching from the side lines also means she can't go all out. Fine feral weak girl act it is.

Sakura's change became even more apparent during that month before the final exams. When she made sure to end that fight with Yamanaka in a tie she knew it would knock her out of the exams and allow her to focus on other missions while the boys trained.

"Ugly, you are unfocused lately."

Sakura felt her eye just barley twitch behind her mask. Damn Sai and that damn friendship making book of his. Sai may have been the closest relationship she had and some would barley call them friends, but there were days where she could punch him.

"You are a lot more expressive lately, too. I like it."

Sakura paused. Expressive? That can't be right.

Sakura's third and biggest slip was during the invasion from Sound and Sand. It was too easy to forget her mission, to easy to get lost the chaos happening around him. Sakura transformed from the Haruno genin to ROOT anbu member. She felt nothing when engaging in combat, no hesitation to end a life. She would do anything to make sure Sasuke and Naruto lived. No hesitation when team 7 attacked the Sand jinchuuriki. Not a second thought when she took that attack to protect Sasuke.

Sakura slipped, and now there were witnesses.

It wasn't a surprise when Kakashi eventually cornered her. "Sakura we need to talk."

"Kakashi-sensei-"

"I heard and read the reports from the invasion. What you did no ordinary genin fresh out of the academy is usually capable of."

"Sensei please."

"Sakura I need you to-"

"I can't!"

"Sakura!"

Sakura stuck out her tougne, the seal fully visible. All arguments die on Kakashi's lips. "I can't sensei."

Excerpt of one of the earlier fights in my fic:

"I can't believe we are doing this," Kakashi mumbled under his breath

Anko and Kakashi stood across from each other 20 feet apart in the clearing, while the genin were a safe distance away.

"By the way, Hatake, you probably want to start with your Sharingan uncovered don't want to send you to the hospital," Anko said, cocky as ever.

Kakashi gave an eye smile.

"We'll see if you can back up those words."

He then launched a kunai into the air, and its descent signaled the start of their fight.

The genin watched in anticipation on a hill with a good view of the clearing.

"Who do you think is going to win" asked Naruto

"I don't know. We have never seen them fight before, but with Kakashi's strength during the bell test, it's hard to imagine him losing. What do you think, Sasuke?"

Sasuke was not paying any attention to his teammates. His focus was entirely on the duel between his teachers. He was anxious to see just how strong they were without holding back.

When the kunai planted into the dirt, Anko pulled three senbon and fired them at Kakashi.

Kakashi quickly pulled a kunai and deflected them.

Anko started to advance while periodically throwing senbon, targeting different areas of his body to keep him off balance. As Anko got closer, Kakashi suddenly closed the distance, and Anko had to dodge back to avoid a blow to her head. She dashed a few feet backward and got into her taijutsu stance. She then charged Kakashi with a hook aimed at his head. Kakashi was about to counter, but Anko suddenly stopped and spun on her heel. Kakashi only had a second to tilt his head back to avoid a sudden roundhouse kick. They then began an exchange of blows.

After the first few seconds, it was clear to Anko that she was outmatched. Her style of taijutsu relied on unnatural dodges and counters to get into her opponent's guard, but it also required her to predict her opponent's movements. This turned out to be near impossible with Kakashi. It was almost like he was slightly switching his style every other move, making him unpredictable and her unable to counter his attacks consistently.

Anko dodged a kick to jump away and get distance. She was more than a little frustrated. He had outmatched her in taijutsu without the use of his Sharigan. As she got more distant, she began to perform hand signs.

Earth Release: Earth flow Spears

Anko put her hands on the ground in front of her. Earth spikes began to shoot through the ground between her and Kakashi.

Kakashi didn't dodge and began to run through hands

Lightning Release: Depth Charge

Lighting enveloped Kakashi's body, and they shot forward, crashing into the earth and disrupting it. Anko barely managed to dodge as she rolled out of the way of the bolt.

Anko pulled down the sleeve of her trench coat to reveal a poison bomb launcher and began firing at Kakashi. The small bombs exploded on contact and released gas in a wide area. Kakashi dodged the gas, taking extra care not to get too close since he didn't know how seriously Anko was taking this spar.

Once the barrage stopped, Kakashi noticed the gas dispersed around him in a circle. Blocking his sight from Anko

"You'll probably want to pull out your Sharingan for this," yelled Anko

From beyond the wall of smoke, Anko quickly raced through hand signs. The gas around Kakashi dispersed just as Anko finished her technique

"Fire Release: Flame Wisps Technique "

Anko spat out a large amount of fire that quickly formed into dozens of tiny wisps of flame that surrounded Kakashi. Before he could make a move, he saw Anko start to run around him and throw sebon. He prepared to counter with a kunai, and then his lone eye widened as one of the senbon made contact with the wisps and nearly tripled in speed. He barely dodged out of the way of two of them, But one scraped across his arm and was hot enough to already close the wound after it passed through.

He instantly uncovered his eye, revealing his Sharingan. As he prepared to counter the rest of the technique. He tried to deflect one with a kunai, but it went straight through the kunai, leaving a small hole. This left him only with the option to dodge the incoming attacks.

By the time it was over, he found that he had not suffered any serious damage, but he had a few more closed cuts on his arms and legs. Kakashi quickly realized that if this wasn't a spar, then Anko would have most likely pierced him with more than one of those flaming senbon.

Anko was breathing heavily. She hadn't quite perfected the control needed for that technique, so she wasted a lot of chakra on it.

Kakshi addressed anko

"If this wasn't a spar, I would think you wanted to kill me."

Anko smirked, "Well, I couldn't let you take it easy the whole time."

Kakashi smirked under his mask and performed a jutsu

Water Release: Water Bullet Technique

As he shot out a fast-moving torrent of water at Anko

With no time to dodge, Anko performed a small Great Fireball Jutsu to counter the Jutsu. She quickly realized her mistake as the steam produced made her lose sight of Kakashi.

Cursing at herself, she quickly used Earth Release: Mud Wall directly at her feet to raise the ground beneath her and out of the cloud of steam. As she looked around for Kakashi, waiting for him to attack, she noticed too late when she felt the wall beneath her rumble slightly. As the wall exploded to reveal Kakashi, he landed a punch on her chin and then a kick to her chest, sending her spiraling to the ground.

Anko quickly recovered and launched senbon at a still mid-air Kakashi after her rough landing. She almost celebrated when they made contact, but she was surprised to see Kakashi disappear in a puff of smoke.

Anko then felt cold metal on the side of her neck

"Looks like this round is mine."

Anko could feel his smug expression despite not seeing it.

Anko put her hands up, annoyed

"Fine, you win this time. You masked bastard."

I've been a zddn fan since I heard blnk and blind on Crystalloid, so seeing them upload their old stuff and two new songs on top was a treat! Wasn't expecting a danceable RnB track from them, love the chill vibes.

DECO*27 - Neverland (ft. Hatsune Miku)

Hardbass wasn't something I was expecting from a DECO track but it works, as it usually does when he blends influences from other genres. Probably my fave of his recent releases.

Arc - fallin' (ft. KAFU) [flashing images cw]

Uplifting electronic rock song from what I think is an underrated producer. Their MVs are usually a nice watch, and this MV by Makino Sena is too if you can get through the flashing lights in the middle/end portion.

shikisai - Luxury, You and Cappucino (ft. Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin)

Speaking of underrated producers, here's another one! Their stuff is always high quality and this one is too. Chill and cheery pop with a cute MV especially for the mikurin fans.

Lemm - Platform 5 (ft. Hanakuma Chifuyu)

It's almost a year old but I just listened to it and think it's great. Maybe even the best thing I listened to this week. I'm always fond of their atmosphere, especially over a longer track like this that goes through multiple moods. Especially love the way some of the melancholic orchestral segment segue to more dynamic DnB sections. Chifuyu is a great vb to compliment their style.

Hi, welcome to the third entry in my "Vocaloid Songs You Might Have Missed" series... What do you mean we're over halfway done with December?!

I want to highlight some of the best yet-to-be-discovered music being produced with Vocaloids and other vocal synths.

ことなかれ / うしお feat. 音街ウナ Sorry for lying! This actually came out in an album way back in March (purchase here), but it wasn't released as a single until November. Underneath the monster wave of Teto SV-mania, Una also received an update and there's been a nice bump in songs featuring her.
