No because Catra canonically has PTSD dreams where she's literally being dragged down by the weight of her bad decisions

my friend and i were talking about glimmer from she-ra and i mentioned how i love the season 4 parallel between glimmer and catra. it’s so intentional and all i could think about is how the entire fandom hated glimmer during that season. it’s probably the fandom’s most hated character arc. but it is SO CRUCIAL to who she is as a character. idk i think people who didn’t understand that glimmer arc just didn’t get her at all.

you ever sit around and think about how Glimmer and Adora are both looking at Angella in this moment but Bow's only looking at Glimmer, or are you normal?

Was anyone gonna tell me the Shera graphic novel has Scorpia and Adora sharing absolutely brutal and mean lines at each other???
Adora calling Catra the new Shadow Weaver! So explicitly, linking Catra to their abuser of many years, trying to make Catra look and feel as bad as Adora wants her to be in this moment. Cause that would be so much easier than the former friend she’s fighting and seeing love on without her
Scorpia calling Adora out for abandoning Catra! Reminding her that the fright zone isn’t just people abusing and hating each other all the time, that there’s still friendships that Adora left behind when she left. Coming back to the idea that Scorpia wants to be better to Catra than she thinks Adora was to her. Just a great emotional gut punch

Also some goofy Catras

Catra, addressing the squad: And if you have any suggestions feel free to put them in the suggestion box.
Scorpia: But – that’s just a trash can.
Catra: It sure is!

"Bow?" "What?" Bow snapped, harsher than he meant to, especially since it was only Adora, pretty much the only person in the rebellion he wasn't annoyed with right now. He rubbed his face, trying to remember he was supposed to be the friendship guy. "Sorry. Just... lot going on." Adora nodded, but the look on her face said she was about to drop more onto the pile. "While you were working on the ship, we answered a distress call from a group that was hiding out near Bright Moon. And we got them here safely, they're settling in but there was this kid and... well, I think you better come see." "I'm not the only one here who's good with kids, you know." He tried to sound teasing, but knew his frustration came through. Under normal conditions, he loved kids but right now he felt about half a second from exploding and did not have it in him to be Mr. Cheerful. "I know." Adora looked bone tired but also shaken in a way that surprised him. "But this kid... The stuff she said when they brought her in, the questions she asked... I mean, maybe I'm just overtired. It's impossible, right? But, Bow... she looks just like you."

How long am I gonna be explaining to people, I wonder:
Villanelle is a compelling and relatable character—and so similar to Catra—& her relationship with Eve heart wrenching to watch because she turned herself into a weapon at a young age so no one could hurt her anymore? (And Catra and Villanelle are both power bottoms, and no, that’s not a joke—it’s character info.)
It’s why her backstory episode with her mom in S3, and the final shot of her crying on the train, are so perfect, for all people’s complaints about S3. And then she grew and changed. And Eve came back. And she let someone hurt her. She let someone in.
Because no, most people don’t have mental health scarring to the degree that Villanelle has. (A lot of that—the spy stuff, the Twelve—can be read as a way to personify a general sense of governmental repression anyway.) But there’s something very real about being a soft-hearted person who forced yourself to become a survivor, scrapping from day to day to find any reason to live, and then finally finding someone who understands you and doesn’t want to hurt you.
And for Eve, it was compelling because she was closeted. All the trappings of her old life—from Nico and their flat full of chickens, to her desk job—were symbolic of repressive, misogynistic, comp-het culture as a whole. Villanelle represented burning all of it down: rebellion, anarchy, honesty, freedom.
And it is absolute crap—not to mention WILDLY homophobic—that it would be anything RESEMBLING a “relief” for her to lose that freedom; to say her queerness and desire for more were a phase, and she’d be happier going back into repression.
It’s crap. And it’s one of the many reasons I have to be a writer.
