TuTchTMas AFTERGLOW - SHEANI GIST As long as we’re schussing through the snows of Aspen, its only fitting that Mr. Gist’s snow-dancing pic makes an appearance in the last of my TuTchTmas Afterglow posts. Talk about an amazing year… Sheani landed on @modelsdot’s list of highest earning male models for the year. (one of only 3 models of color to make the list) thanks to snagging HUGE campaigns with Under Armour American Eagle and CocaCola. Incidentally, Sheani is another strong member of RED’s men board. This particular red-hot, yet frosty joint dropped last month for the Expressmen brand. How he got started: I was performing on the subway and my agent stopped me on the platform.

What keeps him going: Looking at the people I’m around, when I see them doing good, it motivates me to get better. You always need to grow and become better.

On being a black man in fashion and in America: I feel that we are more accepted now in the industry. The models before us opened doors, helped show the importance of diversity and the value we have in society like any other individuals. I feel like when a designer captures diversity things just become better.

Words of wisdom: Of color, skinny, fat, whatever… when you put your mind to it, you can be anything you want to be. Just put 100% into it.
