Uh yeah so anyways basically heart broken for multiple reasons so we'll go in order

1- aya. oh my gosh aya. shes what, a ten year old?????? and in the span of a day, she has found out about a vampire lord who is responsible for destroying or saving the whole world, shouldered the responsibility of getting said vampire lord away from the enemy to save the world, developed a father-daughter relationship with said vampire lord, sacrificed herself and got saved by him, believed that the world could be saved now, saw her new father figure's body be torn apart and replaced by a greasy ratass who wants to destroy everything or whatever, with said new father's last words telling her to run to save herself, being saved by said father, then having him dissolve and die again in front of her eyes again. shes a ten year old. what the actual fuck. oh and don't forget, she doesn't know that she lost her other father figure too!

gosh she is going to be SO traumatised and even that is an understatement i really hope she has the strength to recover

2- so akutagawa is back huh? about time, about time (though im not very happy about the cost it took- but atleast he's back?)and he has agreed to protect aya on brams wish? thats surprising honestly, so im wondering if the stuff atsushi told him while fighting him at the airport or whatever affected his subconscious or something so that he consciously wants to start protecting people?

OR maybe! he sees a bit of himself in aya or smth? i mean look i dont exactly remember what happened before he met dazai and was taken in by him okay, dont come at me. but maybe he sees that terrified little kid and something stirs in him or smth anyways go akutagawa go you're her third father figure please dont die again ‼️

just- THINK ABOUT EVERYONE. think about atsushi and tanizaki. who saw him disappear slowly in front of their eyes, to buy them time. think about fukuzawa. who wished for kunikida to be the next president because he was the most ideal. who cares so much, even if he doesnt show it as much. think about aya. she has such a deep bond with kunikida, and now she'll have to face the devastating news that one of the only people who truly believed in her is gone too. think about ranpo and yosano.

think about dazai. who is much too far away to do anything right now, who miscalculated once which led to him being too far to stop fyodors rampage in any way. who was truly doing all this because he wanted to keep the detective agency safe. who, when he realises what will happen next, his first thought is to warn them. who was his new partner, kept him alive, even made him a part of his schedules. who i think he must have to care for, even a little bit.

dazai, who thinks that anything worth wanting is always lost the moment he obtains it. and its happened again. and by the looks of it, it will happen again.

i genuinely want to know how he'll react but i dont want to at the same time. gods i cant fucking do this man

i absolutely love megumi, he's perhaps my most favorite anime character out of any anime <3 and whats better than imagining a fictional character as a father?

is absolutely protective of you during your pregnancy

absolutely loved it when you began to wear his clothes because yours didnt fit you anymore

at night, while you slept next to him, he was constantly on edge

when his paranoia was at it's peak, he would even summon his dogs just as an extra precaution or so he could sleep

when you gave birth, he was there every step of the process

story of kunning palace. i think this one's going to be a hit with you if you like the double because there's a lot of recurring themes and actors! the ML is way more of a mess though, but i kind of live for it. powerpoint!!

love like the galaxy. the first 5-6 eps might be a little off, but once it hits its stride it's so, so good. unfavored daughter tries to make her way in the world while dodging suitors left and right. an emperor who lives for drama and shipping. a male lead who's a lil unhinged

i know its an older post but irt that incest post sometimes i feel like ppl just dont and cannot get it until it happens to them. i couldnt even comprehend it as a possibility until i was 14 staying at my uncles house for a while and i still cant comprehend it as a thing that happened to me sometimes. i think its bc ppl feel security with their families in that sense— even if theyre abused in other ways, its like, “well, i know them and they’d still never do THAT.”

perhaps its bc we are still not educated about the dangers of incest as children. ever. we are taught stranger danger. we’re taught what inappropriate touch is. and when we’re a little older we’re taught to recognize grooming behaviors, but we’re never taught about what its like when it comes from family members— and what’s more we’re taught to assume the best from family members, to think of them as the exception to inappropriate touch or behaviors, when they DO make us uncomfortable instead of recognizing those behaviors as red flags. then one day it becomes too late, like it did with me. and maybe that contributes to the idea that its a non-possibility in some people, that it only happens in fiction.

the most i’ve ever seen presented to children as a red flag irt incest is the idea of a mother’s boyfriend or a stepparent acting inappropriately, but that still comes from the angle of “you havent known them for as long so this means they could also be a predator.”

we still don’t fully address what the commonly cited statistic “most sexual abuse comes from someone the survivor knows” MEANS. its not just friends. not just partners. its your family, too. its people you’ve known all your life.

but ultimately— i’m finally making my point i promise— the reason we dont address those things is because the idea that children should be able to turn to their community when their family fails them is too controversial, and not just among families that support incestuous abuse. “if my child knows they can confide in a teacher/neighbor about anything, they might become rebellious. god forbid somebody other than me contributes to my child’s development!”

people prefer the heightened possibility of their child being subjected to incestuous abuse over their child having any semblance of autonomy.

hi sorry this took a bit to answer that post IS from a while ago and i wasnt sure how to respond, because i have fortunately never experienced that type of abuse myself and dont have much to add beyond agreement. i didnt want to just leave this in my inbox though since its clear you put a lot of thought into it.

i think a lot of the opportunities for incestuous abuse stem from the traditional family structure not actually prioritizing protection or comfort, but control that feels threatened every time somebody tries to bring it up. nobody wants to actually prevent it because that would mean acknowledging family as a potential threat, as well as breaking down the ways the controlling of sex and ownership by said family is already normalized in culture (ex. fathers vigorously defending their daughters virginity, etc). this is all why imo discussions on this should go hand in hand with childrens rights and body autonomy, but even in these discussions its rare to see it actually brought up

its really something that needs to be talked about more, but people struggle to see past "alabama" jokes and fauxcest porn

while it is funny to think and joke about, i think the genuine belief that Erik's wife and daughter were used for the main purpose of trying to erase Cherik is just such a truly awful take. there is no contextual evidence to even back up the claim, by the end of the movie Erik still choses Charles yet again.

so I'm here to present my succinct, evidence-based claim: Erik's wife and daughter only worked to further cement his and Charles shared narrative.

in the film, these two girls act as flat characters; very little information is given about them, no character development takes place, and they take up very little screentime. what they add to the films story however is a point emotional attachment outside the world of mutant vs. humans for Erik to settle into, heal, and escape from his previous life as a literal terrorist. unfortunately for die hard Cherik truthers, this means an emotional attachment out side the world Erik shares with Charles. this is a genuine attempt by Erik to remove himself from the cycle of fear and rage he has been a slave to since his childhood, and it really did all work out for him. he had a job, a community, and he was able to create a life perfectly for himself. despite needing to hide his powers, this was probably the best outcome he was ever going to achieve.

but, now that the franchises main antagonist has settled into a life of warmth and comfort, its time for the narrative to get moving again. you cant tell a story without its antagonist. yes, Apocalypse is the main antagonist for this specific movie as he is the source for the majority of the films tension and conflict, but this movie is a part of the over arching narrative primarily concerning Professor X, his X Men, and their arch-nemesis, Magneto. being each others narrative foils and their decades old disputes they are quite literally a package deal, there will never be a Professor X without his Magneto. So, what better way to pull our protagonist his literal other half into the mix than a good old fashioned fridging?

"women in refrigerator's" is a literary trope originally coined in 1999 by comic book fan Gail Simone. this term is used to refer to the trope in which a female loved one is killed, injured, or otherwise hurt in order to further the plot. the trope is one in which women are used as disposable. (there is so much more i could say about the sexism rooted in this fairly common trope but its fairly self explanatory and doesn't pertain to directly to the topic at hand.) once you actually learn about this you cant stop noticing it (ever seen a Disney movie?). it is particularly common in comic books as a heavily male dominated field of media. it is an easy, fast way to get emotion and anger out of a character and gives them the motive to fulfill whatever is needed for the story to continue. in this case, the rage born from Erik's grief lead him to join Apocalypse as one of his horse men. ultimately pushing him towards yet another fated conflict with Charles, the climax of almost any X Men film.

if the writers were truly conscious and concerned with fans perception of Erik and Charles questionably platonic relationship, they wouldn't have used a trope to sling shot the man directly back into his fandom assigned love interest. its incredibly unreasonable to claim a device clearly intended to send him closer to his other half was in an attempt to separate them.

and, claiming that his family was just an attempt to erase Cherik feels like completely ignoring Erik's past experiences with fridging that truly work to build the complexities and tragedy of their strictly canon relationship. this is the second time he has had his whole world ripped away from him. the second time he has turned to rage and violence to protect what little of himself he has left. this is the first time however that he realizes he has more than just a little broken piece of himself left. this is the first time he is able to realize there is another soul out there who can see past the rage he is blinded by. the first time he has had someone who continues to see the good in him.

and this is me looking at this from as unbiased a perspective as i can. this is hardly even subtext. Erik's flashback wasn't stuck in there just because they needed more screen time, everything holds significance. it was blatantly telling us that in that very moment Erik realized he still had Charles, the one person who can actually claim to know someone, the one person who genuinely knows HIM.

Anyway this shit was great. So many themes I enjoyed in this and fun theories I got out of what was left unsaid.

Let's start with dad. How many times has dad been to this little mountain resort? Whose to say. When dad meets our cuckoo specialist, dad has this strange expression on his face, almost like a struggle between a grimace and a smile before finally making a friendly remark.

When Gretchen first arrives in town, the woman comes to visit. Alma, the sister and as we later find out, one of the cuckoos, is with her surrogate mother (Beth) and dad so mommy dearest can't come to visit. Instead of watching from afar her darling daughter, she goes into the bathroom and tries to get in Gretchen's stall. Oh? Why is that?

Fast forward to the night Gretchen is biking home. Mommy dearest reaches out a hand to Gretchen while chasing her, easily could be to attack her. Could be.

Mom follows her to the hospital yet does not attack, only drawing nearer. She doesn't try to break the glass with super human strength. She just draws close to her.

Momma dear goes to Ed's car and flings Ed away. Obviously, she has the strength to flip the car if she wanted with Gretchen inside. But she doesn't seem to be hunting otherwise she would have tried to attack Ed instead of moving Ed out of the way. Mom reaches out to Gretchen with her horrible scream—or calling? Before getting shot at and runs away.

Gretchen is now in the lover's nest. And when momma dearest is caught by Gretchen, she does not attack. She also doesn't make her call. She doesn't need to as Gretchen isn't moving away from her anymore, isn't running away. Again, mother is shot off the scene.

In the hospital as Gretchen tries to escape with Alma, mother tries to follow the girls. When the shelves fall, mother escapes and searches desperatly for Gretchen, using her horrific scream. But she does not harm Gretchen. Nor attack her.

After Gretchen stabs mother and flees, she stops to watch as mother follows, reaching out, unable to make her horrific call anymore. Gretchen returns to the freshly made corpse and stares at features on mother's face that resemble her own.

As Alma is taken by Gretchen to freedom, she says with conviction that her sister will be okay.

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Let's back pedal to Alma. The doctor notes that the little girl has a striking resemblance to her surrogate mother, implying this normally isn't the case.

We also know there is some variation between the cuckoos and what they present like, and that the doctors have been working on making them stronger. In addition we know that their characteristics rapidly increase when touched by the mother.

Here's my theory. Long ago, dad met Gretchen's mother. They fall in love and move to America with baby Gretchen... a cuckoo who never ends up developing her cuckoo abilities like a recessive trait. Unknown backstory I wish to know.

Years later Dad meets Beth and goes to the mountains on their honeymoon and have Alma. Except Beth is of course the surrogate. Alma is a much stronger crop of cuckoo. Her vocal chords are cuckoo expressive even before meeting her mother, which causes her muteness. Again, they mention that cuckoos have basically been breeded for certain traits to strengthen them. It makes sense if Alma is more cuckoo expressive than... Gretchen.

Now my only question is, did Gretchen's surrogate mother actually die or was she abducted and brought back to the facility to repopulate her species? This could also explain why dad might come back to continue this project begrudgingly despite having initially run away to America. Is it possible Gretchen's birth mother was a cuckoo whose genetic makeup more resembled humans than the cuckoos and her own cuckoo development was long delayed without contact with her own cuckoo mother (cuz she moved to America)? And thus when she had Gretchen as a human would, Gretchen also did not develop cuckoo tendencies as she was conceived the human way? Idk. I just like the idea that Gretchen's birth mom wasn't dead the whole time and that cuckoo phenotypes could be recessive or even repressed until they get older. If this is true, I think the reason why the German guy doesnt care about Gretchen's life is because he thinks she is too human because she was conceived like a human. He doesn't realize mother still cares for her daughter even after she transforms into her cuckoo form. It also adds extra tragedy to Gretchen's kill of the cuckoo mother, the one daughter she had out of love.

That debate with the ex cop and Gretchen about Alma just feels more powerful if it comes from Gretchen knowing that Alma doesn't have to be like her cuckoo mom instead of just believing it strongly.

Which brings us to one of the most important elements of this story. The sister-sister bond. Alma and Gretchen come to rely on each other as sisters. Even when Alma is technically a monster, Gretchen still protects and cares about her sister. Is that alone not moving? We see Gretchen's empathy in an earlier scene too with the ex cop. As he sits across from her having recently killed someone, his head is down on the table. Gretchen reaches towards him for a long bit of silence and we're unsure what she's reaching for. Her hand goes over the knife and we think maybe she's going for it to protect herself. But then it goes past. Is she reaching for the gun? But no... she's reaching for his hand... to comfort him. I think this theme of empathy and caring is an important detail that frames how we should interpret the overall story, and force us to question the cuckoo's role in the narrative.

Really want to read the script just for a description of the body language. When mother cuckoo reaches her hand out, its not like an agressive grasp, but a pleading hand.

Lastly: I think Gretchen's relationship with her mother is very telling. She isnt over her death and speaks to her over the phone as if her mother were still alive, like shes clinging to her mother as she once knew her. The cuckoos form especially when the wig was taken off made me wonder if this is meant to be a metaphor for the monster that is terminal illness. The way terminal illnesses can transform the body of its victims into something unrecognizable and the fear that invokes in the people who love them. I think this too was a metaphor for grief. When Gretchen kills the cuckoo mother, I think metaphorically, she's letting go of her mother.

Idk I had a lot of fun watching the movie clearly. I found the idea of the monster seeking out love for her child instead of violence really compelling. And the affection between the sisters was also very sweet. Even when I know you're a monster, I still care about you. Just very precious. Definitly worth a rewatch just so I can feed my theory demons some extra food haha

Her name is Eclipsa and has white hair and pointy ears(ofc since she is an elf). And I dont mean like Santa's elfs, I mean the ones from greek and romanian mytology.

About the bakstory: Lets just say that she is the daughter of The Heavenly Principels(lets just call her THP bc I am lazy) (ik it sounds cringe but hear me out😭) and since THP was not all the lovey dovey tipe and probably VERY bad with children (maybe even hate them idk, I really cant see her motherly) she just decided to throe her to Tyvat into the care of the archons untill she was old enough (16 years old) to come to Celestia (bacically be mature since she doesnt want a cryng baby around). Eclipsa is growing, just like Klee slower (there is a theorh that says that Klee is 80 but is also 8 bc she is growing 10 times slower than normal) and everu 100 it adds 1 year rlto her age. Now, lets say that when she was 10(1000) she overheared somebody say that the archons dont actually like her (like parental figures ofc) and that they probably just cang get rid of her. She actually belivd them like a dumb child that she is and ran away (opened a portal to another world and dissapeared without anybody's knoladge). Now, lets just say for the sake of this au to make it more interesting (maybe more cringe but I am having fun ok?😭) that the disaster from Khaenri'ah happened bc the person occ heared it was a khaenriah'n and THP since finding this out was like "OH HELL NAHH" and this iz the reason they destroyd Khaenria'h. THP gave the archons untill Eclipsa was to turn 16 to find her. Well, now, at 15, she randomply (and awkwardly) came back. (Maybe she finally got into her head the ideea of checking Irmansole to see if the archons truly hated her and surprise surprise, ints not true). Now, imagine the characters meeting Occ in their nation. For Venti- at windrise, for Ei in the city (near the statue), for Nahida just at the spirit tree (maybe one of her little friends passed that message for her) and for Furina(back when she was still an archon) she was told from Neuvillette that he sensed Occ's presence(lets just say that higher ups are aware of Eclipsa's existance, including Furina. Perhaps she has read about Oc in one of the books she read to find a solution to Fontaine's profecy).

About personalit I see her as somebody who is quite the drama queen and loves attention 24/7. She loves pulling pranks all the time and also like annoyng people, but in a joking way. Hoever I see her as somebody who has her moments of understanding and is quite the menance to societity(pretty mhch like how Klee is). About her powers, she is developing since young THP's powers but since she is not even 18, its definetly not as affective.

Anyways, I know it might be a weird request or cringe, and maybe I wrote too much, or gave too little information. Furina's first meeting with Eclipsa is when Neuvillette is showing her around, it was instant love... not the romantic kind, the platonic kind, Eclipsa looked like a doll, so perfect to dress up, so perfect to have around, Furina feels lonely and Eclipsa makes her feel whole again, so she takes what she wants.

Furina dislikes The Heavenly Principles, she would be happy if she was hated by them, her performance is over either way, the profecy is fullfilled, is it really so wrong of her to be selfish... you will see Furina run around Fontaine with Eclipse causing havoc, as long as she is with her she doesn't feel lonely, and now she never will

Raiden Ei: The day Eclipsa dissapeared was the day her sister died... not only did she lose her very own sister, she also lost someone she practically viewed as a daughter, she had never felt such horrible pain before, so she shut herself away as to not feel it again.

So many years spent in isolation, all Ei could think about was her sister and Eclipsa, she swore if she could just get them back, she would protect them both with her life, she just wants things to go back to normal, like it used to be.

So many years had passed that Ei nearly didn't recognize Eclipsa, she had so many questions for her, but she didn't say a single one... screw The heavenly Principles, she was going to protect her as best she could, Eclipsa don't even get a chance to talk before she was shut inside the plane of Euthymia.

"So long, you have been away for 500 long years... but that's okay, you're here now, I'll make sure you not come to harm like what happened to Makoto"

Nahida: She doesn't have much knowledge of Eclipsa, she isn't recorded in the Irminsul, all the knowledge Nahida has of her is what her predecessor left for her she didn't forget, she is confused why Eclipsa isn't around... did she dissapear or worse, did she die?

Nahida is confussed when she feels Eclipsa's precence by the Irminsul, it feels familiar but she can't figure out why, of course like the curious 500 year old child she is, she went to figure out what caused such familiarity... Nahida knew who it was the second she laid eyes on her, this is who she is supposed to protect like the Greater Lord she once did.

Nahida asks a lot of questions, why is she here? Why was she gone? Eclipsa is now her favorite subject to learn about, Nahida takes up some kind of little sister role to stay close with her, she needs to know everything, feed her ever-growing curiosity, maybe one day she will introduce Eclipsa to the Wanderer... but that can be later, Nahida wants to be selfish for a bit longer.

"Curious, you being here fills me with a feeling like... like a hole, you fall down it everyday and it just feels so annoying, then suddenly someone has covered it up and I don't feel annoyance anymore... You need to stay with me for a bit longer, I need to figure out why"

Venti: He isn't all that interested in following The Heavenly Principles orders, but he still did as to not occur her wrath... he did not expect to take care of a child, he wasn't the best, he got constantly drunk, never took anything serious, except for protecting Eclipsa from any danger.

It was no surprise that Venti felt such fear and despair when Eclipsa dissapeared, he had lost yet another loved one... why does he still care, it always happens anyways, no relation lasts forever, no matter how much he tries to drown the memory of her in even more alcohol, it doesn't work

That's when Venti notices her precence, after 500 long painful years, is she finally back? Is this his second chance. He meets Eclipsa at windrise, she look just as well as when she dissapeared... He doesn't care what The Heavenly Principles thinks or wants, he will keep Ecilpsa safe and away from her, He will keep that smile on her no matter what.

Ok so the thunder saga. genuinely I’ve been shaking so much every time I’ve heard it. I’m gonna go song by song and this is a rant so theres gonna be a shitton of tangents sorry

1. suffering

this title scared me SO MUCH when I heard it cause like oh fuck my poor little guy(hes a king and has fought multiple wars and killed thousands of people) doesnt need more shit happening to him like leave him alone and then the melody was so upbeat and I was like huh?? and then ‘penelope’ starts talking and I’m like. pardon. what. sorry?? I was confused as shit, mostly at how nonchalant ODYSSEUS was. my first assumption was its gotta be one of the gods fucking w/ him but then why is he so casual? so I thought it was a dream. but then there were little things, penelope’s asking him to get in the water(which. reminds me of. someone HAHSBHADBH), and then he says hes scared of the water and I’m like. my guy I hope youre not afraid of the water youre a captain on a ship. but then I realized theres no way odys afraid of the water unless its bcuz of posideon, and penelope WOULDNT KNOW ABOUT THAT so he wouldnt say “you know I’m afraid of the water”. and then ofc shes like “daughter” and I’m like nope. this aint penelope and its not a dream cause then it would be odysseus’ mind making her up and hed never think daughter. And then odysseus asks how to get home and at this point I’m like hm. ok. so this is some kind of water based monster trying to pretend to be penelope to lure him in, right? (ALSO the fact that the only time in the song odysseus drops the act is when he says “but scylla has a cost” is so mmmmmm)and then. and then.

2. different beast

HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT THIS IS WHERE THINGS GOT GOOD. like I love suffering but different beast scratches my brain SO GOOD and the rest of the saga was uphill from there I ahhhhhhhh. initial reaction: odysseus’ explanation that he knew what had been happening the whole time was SO GOOD and had my mouth hanging open the whole time. and then when he says “cut their tails off, we’re ending this now. throw their bodies back in the water. let them drown.” ohhhhhhhhhh my god holy fuck this was when it kinda hit for me- odysseus was not fucking around in monster hes actually BRUTAL in the thunder saga and I honestly hope it continues cause fuck yeah character development. also there were SO MANY lines in this that are just SO GOOD. “youve been tryna take my life this whole time” “I know exactly what you are, youre a siren.” “my real wife knows I’m not scared of the water, and my real wife knows I dont have a daughter.” “we found a ship with no crew” “sirens know about every route and horizon now I know how to get back to my island!” “so you can kill the next group of sailors in this part of the sea? nah, you wouldnt have spared me. I made a mistake like this once it almost cost my life, I cant take more risks of not seeing my wife. cut off their tails!” “kill them all!” and then the “odysseus” at the end I’m like why does that sound familiar? MFER ITS CAUSE ITS IN THE “You dont think I know my own palace? I built it.” SOUND CLIP IM

3. scylla

silly little sounds. silly little men. silly little deaths. ok so I watched the livestream so I saw the anamatic and holy SHIT the moment that eurylochus realized why odysseus had him light six torches was BRUTAL. also eurylochus’ confession that he opened the wind bag? ohhhhhhh ok MOTHER FUCKING SON OF A BITCH also when odysseus said “not much to say” god he sounds so tortured I cant with this. and scyllas voice in general is so ahhhhhh ESPECIALLY the “Hello.” and DROWN IN YOUR SORROW AND FEARS. CHOKE ON YOUR BLOOD AND YOUR TEARS. BLEED TILL YOU RUN OUT OF YEARS. WE MUST DO WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE. GIVE UP YOUR HONOR AND FAITH. LIVE UP YOUR LIFE AS A WRAITH. DIE IN THE BLOOD WHERE YOU BATHE. WE MUST DO WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE. with the fucking crunching and screaming in the background lik e ok. I needed this in my life.

4. mutiny

THIS IS MY FAVORITE. eurolychus’ confrontation with begging odysseus to tell him hes misinterpreted the situation, comparing odysseus’ past actions and fights to how he dealt with scylla, finally ending with him yelling at odysseus to “SAY SOMETHING!”, odysseus’ “I CANT.” and the looong pause before the boss battle starts. odysseus and eurolychus’ fight, both of them clearly not wanting to but knowing they have to. the chanting their name in the background. and then when odysseus says “I am not letting you get in my way!” and the sound of a stab- I was so scared hed actually killed eurolychus(yes I knew he dies I watched the overly sarcastic productions video on the odyssey too) and then ODYSSEYUS’ labored breathing and asking “why?” like I’m sorry jorge DID THEY STAB YOU TO GET THIS LYRIC WHY DOES HIS PHYSICAL PAIN SOUND SO GENUINE and then the. the fucking. the fucking luck runs out reprise. the MOMENT I realized it was the melody from luck runs out this is when I started crying.(dw past me it gets worse) the way that the crew is basically like “yeah remember when we asked what would happen if you fucked up? well you fucked up. and now youre finding out.” plus the fact that they are so clearly driving home we dont trust you. you failed to keep us safe. basically telling him ‘youre a bad leader’. that must have HURT. and then the fact that eurolychus bandaged him up and was waiting for him to wake up ough my heart. but also the fact that hes tied to helios’ statue? like. um. buddy. looking an awful lot like a sacrafice there. hahahahahah I’m loosing it. anyways, the luck runs out reprise hitting hard once again. like HARD. holy shit, odysseus’ “please don’t tell me you’re about to do what i think you’ll do” when that was what eurylochus said to him and then EURYLOCHUS CALLED HIM “ODY” I CANT and the eurylochus clearly being fed up(but not fed) while odysseus is actually begging him to please please think about this you can HEAR the desperation the need to get home and knowing if eurylochus kills the cow they probably wont? and then odysseus’ scream of “euRYLOCHUS NO!” cut short by the sound of eurylochus killing the cattle. and then the instant ‘oh no.’ like just INSTANTLY knowing they’re fucked and eurylochus STILL LOOKING TOWARD ODYSSEUS FOR GUIDENCE EVEN THO HE LITERALLY MUTINIED AGAINST HIM LIKE A DAY AGO AND HAS ODYSSEUS TIED UP AND AT HIS MIRCY AND HE STILL DEFAULTS TOWARDS ODYSSEUS FOR LEADERSHIP CAUSE HE STILL TRUSTS HIM and odysseus IMMEDIATELY taking charge and trying to get them out. the rushed full speed ahead melody, the boom of thunder and odysseus’ dread-filled “we’re too late.”

5. thunder bringer

IT LIVED UP TO THE HYPE GUYS!! sure enough the teasers we’ve seen are FUCKING AMAZING in the context of the song, zeus having an inflated as shit ego and taking up SO MUCH space, just like constantly talking about himself even tho IT AINT ABT HIM its so in character for what a massive dick he usually is in the greek mythos. and zeus deadass saying “if i were to make you choose, the lives of your men and crew or your own why do I think theyd loose?” right before MAKING ODYSSEUS CHOOSE. I’m. also odysseus sounds so.. small in this song. I dont know if its the fact hes literally having a mental breakdown or that zeus needs to be the biggest cock in any room he walks into but odysseus’ little “choose?” and him asking “please dont make me do this” JUST LIKE WHEN HIM AND ZEUS FIRST MET, the when does a man become a monster melody playing as odysseus tries to decide with penelopes voice asking him to come home pushing him over the edge wow. just wow. and the the conversation between odysseus and eurylochus? “captain?” “I have to see her.” “…but we’ll die.” “i know” I’m SORRY I CANT FUCKING DO THIS WHY DOES HE SOUND SO BROKEN AND REGRETFUL AND SAD AND OH MY GOD. AND THEN THE FUCKING ANIMATIC SHOWN IN THE TRAILER THE WAY HE JUST POINTS TOWARDS HIS CREW AND THEY ALL LOOK SO BETRAYED AND LOST BEFORE THEY START ATTACKING HIM AND THE LAST SHOT OF HIM CLOSING HIS EYES AS THEY PIN HIM TO THE MAST BY THE NECK WITH THEIR SWORDS AND THEN LIGHTNING STRIKES THE SHIP HOLY. also if you think about it this choice was kind of the final stress test for odysseus, because this is the ultimate decision: should he be a good king, captain, and friend or should he take the small chance to see his wife again? cause its not just about who lives and dies, its about who gets to keep going, who gets to see home, who gets a chance and who looses right now. and how could he choose the people who just stabbed him in the back and have doomed them multiple times over seeing his wife whom he loves and would do anything for? honestly, with what I know about how odysseus is, I wouldnt be very surprised if he was weighing the choice both from the emotional (seeing his wife or saving his crew) and factual (hes probably the strongest and most fit leader among them, they might not do too well on their own, ithaca needs a king and he doesnt know if telemachus can be that, one person has a higher chance of surviving than a large group in a journey(ingreekmythologyanyway), and they did just make a really dumb mistake that odysseus wouldnt have made himself and yeah ok maybe hes a little salty but still.)

genuinly the whole saga is so amazing and I’m so looking forward to the wisdom, vengence, and ESPECIALLY ithaca saga. by the way I could actually do this for every song in the musical/every saga tbh

''Cant be helped'' the tall male sighed offering you his arm. You smacked it away earning a look of disbelief from him.

''Its your fault youu..'' lazily throwing punches giggling like a little kid, it felt like someone was tickling his palm such a cute act didn't go unnoticed as he picked you up carefully laying you on his lap his enormous hand placed gentle strokes on your hair. His warmth bringing you great comfort. ''You know, I miss it when I was little, you used to hold me like this all the time.'' you stifled a yawn looking into the mans' old wise eyes.

You couldn't tell and didn't really bother to either just chuckling at the image alone, your laugh as light as the wind you were riding. Your sleep fading as you kept picturing how silly Marco would have looked like as a baby, big dumb-dumb eyes and his dopey haircut atop it.

"Cute.." you thought to yourself making Marco blush seeing as you were imagining things. ''WHATEVER YOU HAVE IN YOUR HEAD STOP IT!'' he barked ears red from embarrassment.

''Oh enough you two." Whitebeard seemed in his element today sharing stories allowing you to sit with him like this even not punishing you two for not getting along. He watched as Marco stomped on the ground a habit he developed unintentionally when he was mad or frustrated.

''And why would you need to do that?'' he answered fairly curious why you chose this topic.

The old man looked at you processing everything that went on his smile rising the longer you took until you erupted a blobly-blushy mess hiding behind his jacket. Whitebeards signature laugh erupting on the deck as well as Marcos.

"Its always fun seeing this reaction.'' Marco laughed having previously seen someone else do this only to end up in the same position.

Marco was wheezing his ass of meanwhile Whitebread offered you his knowing gaze, you hid deeper behind his jacket face redder than a ripe tomato.

''Waaaa~ this is what he meant by 'you wont see me the same way after this.''' What a jerk.

He extended his arm to you his fingers wiggling right by your crouched body. You contemplated for a bit before sitting on his hand , he placed you right on the other side of his shoulder.

He thinks he won just cause he knows how to show off his experience and pearly whites huh. You puffed you cheeks mentally, sitting comfortably on his shoulder you ushered closer to him poking his cheek to give you an ear.

''Then lets set sail Capitan Edward~'' you cooed using a 110% of your womanly charm you noticed him stall. His cheeks dusted a shade redder than when he laughs.

''Let's sail the entire world together Edward, promise me~'' you continued checking how the old man was taking it. His whole expression stone cold however his cheeks red as a rash on a baby's bum.

Marco couldn't belive his eyes, the first time in years old mans plan actually failed against him.

You giggled reaching around the back to whisper the same thing into Marcos ear but using Marcos own name. Now the both of them stood stone cold cheeks glowing.

What a sight these men are, you thought to yourself giving each one a gentle platonic kiss to the cheek "Shouldn't be teasing you boys like this, I apologize.." you went back to your place on your Capitan's lap ,sitting soundly till the both of them spoke in unison. g1deon and pyrrha + gideon and harrow throughlines scattered in all of tlt continue to drive me insane.

the initial investigation scenes post the 5th deaths where the 2nd house tries to pull cohort rank control of the situation, gideon & harrow immediately sneak away to learn that the winnowing trial was developed by the second house and cohort founders, g1deon & pyrrha. winnowing as incorporating the other, refusing distractions for the sake of true control, loyalty and duty.

gideon is wearing his sunglasses, rifling through their things. she doesn’t see it as a real place someone would live in, only a stop along the way to somewhere else, more whole.

she sees a gun on the wall that her mother's ghost will use the river memory of to try and kill harrow in the dream of cannan house:

It took Gideon a long time to realise that she was looking at something goddamn ancient: it was a blowback carbine gun. She’d only ever seen pictures. ….. The hairs on the back of Gideon’s neck had risen when the lights came on, and they hadn’t gone back down, as if her intrusion might well tempt time back to claim its grave goods. GTN chapter 19

Carbine rifle, read the key. For a moment she pitied Judith Deuteros’s last seconds. To be killed with this ancient piece of grave goods! It would have been like being set upon by a ghost out of time. HTN chapter 18

gideon reads "one flesh, one end" for the first time. she tells harrow these people were living in each others pockets, the same phrase she'll later use to describe the two of them. pyrrha spent nearly 10,000 years locked in a drawer in gideon the first’s mind bc he couldn't bear to let her go. gideon tells harrow how they feel like strangers despite growing up together.

harrow cant stand the thought and in less than a month harrow will lock gideon in a drawer and gideon the first will relentlessly try to kill harrow in her waking hours to spare her the agony he'll never learn is closely parallel to his, and when she fails to hear his real name her brain starts bleeding:

but in less than a year gideon’s mother, sitting opposite her father, will recognize pyrrha with a sense of profound relief before her revenant is unceremoniously killed. gideon will watch through harrows eyes, in hiding:

i don’t have a conclusion to this rn i’m just……much to think abt. the displacement of grief, the loyalty through control, how it just happens over and over and over again and they just bear witness as tools or trapped souls or revenants, clinging to anything they can even if they don’t remember it.

YAYYY I LOVE yapping-

Sooo Nami is my Jamiazu fankid, and first things first- Azul is someone who I can feel in my gut is supposed to have a spoiled little girl eventually. Like it’s just in his makeup. Anyways this is to say, that while I think Azul always wanted a kid, Jamil didn’t.

not that he hates kids or anything, but rather that for him he couldn’t imagine himself out of servitude realistically, and he’d never bring anyone else into the same situation he was brought into. So he had always written it off as “nope not keeping this loop going.”

Anyways- this is to say that when he gets OUT of it that thought process changes! So they (eventually after some time of dating through the end of their sophomore year onward) decide to have a kid!

That is to say, a tube baby, bc octomers are notoriously difficult to get to survive past a month in the egg stage. They go through literal BATCHES of eggs, every single one failing (and these batches are like, in the hundreds per batch) until they hit the fourth one, where one little runt egg survives!

That is Nami, who is them promptly put into her ocean simulation incubator. Aka a fancy tube with saltwater and a filter. She sits on Azul’s desk for around 5 months (mers develop quicker than other species, so in total she was only an egg for 6 months) until she’s finally ready to be removed, right around 4 ish pounds? I can’t find my notes rn. She was tiny, which is pretty standard for mers. Actually she was pretty fat for a mer (half mer) baby. (Also sitting on Azul’s desk is how she came to hate electro swing. The sound vibrated her tank in a bad way)

ANYWAYS- this is all to say that she is very very special to them!!! Miracle baby, their only daughter, etc. she cannot do wrong in their eyes, both of them will fight you on it.

WHEN THE THIRD WHEEL STRIKES BACK

HILARIOUS. genuinely so good, pretty underrated too (in that i havent seen anyone talking about this?) but it has a main character who isekais into a second male lead and decides to stay awayy from the leads — this fails miserably, obviously, and its comical. the misunderstandings, the unlucky run-ins… also the mc is a priest and theres a pretty interesting magic system and worldbuilding!! and as a final bonus the art is nice. genuinely so fun to read, highly recommend

A STEPMOTHER’S MARCHEN

favourite manhwa of all time tbh its the only one ive bought a physical copy of (so far, anyway.. hehe). has a romance sub plot but the characterisations, relationships, plot development etc is exquisite. the family relationship takes precedence here especially in the first few arcs, the characters are REALISTIC, the art is gorgeous…, i love it so so much highly rec if you havent read it already. i guess this doesnt fall as much into light-hearted, because there are quite a lot of heavy moments… but its nicely balanced out with the comedy n all so i’ll put it in anyway :]

SCHOOLMATE FRIEND

super cute! this one is a school romance and it doesnt have many chapters out but its simple and the two mains are adorable. its a nice fluffy read and the artstyle is also lovely.

THE DEMON KING DAD AND HIS HERO DAUGHTER

THE MEANING OF YOU

this one is an isekai romance with again some lovely character arcs :D the main character is pretty depressive but its also got plenty of light/funny moments to balance it out, and the plot centres around her learning to take care of herself and becoming more confident,, i love the characters a lot ! they care a lot. the romance does get a bit cheesy at times but it really is so wholesome with solid characterisation n its completed too so you have a nice 3am read.

HOW TO BE A DARK HERO’S DAUGHTER

simultaenously super funny and somewhat angsty. this is one of those dungeon manhwa but the caveat is each of the mc's brothers has a different trope going on (time travel, became demon king, isekai'd) while mc is a decent potion maker and has to deal with all their bullshit (affectionate). it handles family issues and balances it with comedy perfectly. the main character is really really likeable and you cant help but cheer her on. so far its almost entirely platonic but i spy a few male leads lol

It actually got me into Eddsworld someone made a animation to Youth by Daughter and had me hooked. But still was very important to me and my art development.

Its so crazy to me cause i was into Eddsworld HARD in the 2016-2020 era where alot of the ig modern fandom was born i watched cities fall and crumble I was deep in the amino trenches, Pork Sodaing and seeing so much historical fandom events happen before your eyes. I was watching everyone consume every piece of Prince of Mints and Moho art I was a sucker for them which probably wasn’t okay for like a 5th grader but i definitely turned out all right /j.

I left for a little bit on and off cause Hetalia was choking me and like keeping me prisoner but like it still had a place in my heart for it but like ya know i still was there but idk now I just dont find the same spark anymore from the first go around. Something changed and maybe cause i just had my tastes change and maybe cause my ex-best friend was making fun of my oc all the time but i made him when i was like 11 and figuring out identities and ways to express yourself without sticking to the gender norms and dealing with alot of stuff at the time i finally caved and just didn’t feel the same any anymore about the show.

ive been putting off writing this memorial for over a week now, partially because i knew it would take a long time to write and choose the right pictures, but also because i knew that writing it would make her death feel that much more "real." i think im finally ready to write it though. no matter how much it breaks my heart to do it, im ready to write the closing chapter of her life.

im going to tell you about my dear friend, Poppyseed.

like many of my sprickets, i met Poppyseed in the wee hours of the morning, just as i was getting ready to finally go to bed. there's one huge difference though: Poppyseed wasnt a "wild" spricket i happened across. no, Poppyseed hatched from an egg, one laid by my very first pet spricket, Crouton.

it was May 28th, 2023, and i had gone to moisten the soil of the small container id been "incubating" a few of Crouton's eggs in. upon spritzing the contents, i thought id noticed something leap out. half asleep and bewildered, i looked beside the container and saw the tiniest little speck of a creature on the counter top. i scrambled to catch it, and soon managed to get the tiny thing into a small enclosure.

it was a beautiful, miniscule spricket, a fresh hatchling.

i cant even begin to describe how over the moon i was. after months of waiting, i had FINALLY, for the very first time, managed to hatch one of my sprickets eggs.

the timing of the hatchling's arrival was a bit awkward. i was actually heading off to Boston to visit a friend soon, and i wouldnt be home for a few days. i was nervous about the little nymph's survival, and i opted to hold off on naming her for a while, but very quickly the perfect name came to me, and i couldnt help but bestow it upon her: Poppyseed.

little Poppyseed, practically the size of her namesake at first, began to thrive. she was growing ever so slowly, and it was such a delight to watch. id wake up each day excited, eager to check on Poppyseed to see if she had grown. she was so, so small compared to the adult sprickets i was used to seeing, or even the nymphs i would occasionally encounter! one of my favorite pictures is one i took while cleaning Crouton's tank (and her tankmmate Breadcrumb, of course) in which, moping in the corner of her temporary enclosure, i was able to get a photo of Crouton right beside Poppyseed's tank.

Poppyseed was only a little over a month at the time. her father, a sweet boy named Biscuit, had passed long before her hatching, and she would never actually meet Crouton face to face (i never cohab nymphs with each other- let alone with adults- for fear of one harming the other during/after molting), but i loved having both mother and daughter in my care at the same time.

having Poppyseed around meant that much more to me when Crouton passed away. i was devastated, losing the beloved spricket who marked the beginning of my adventure in keeping/raising these underappreciated little bugs, but Poppyseed was her living legacy, and that gave me great comfort during my mourning. it still does bring me comfort, even in my grief after losing Poppyseed, knowing i was able to raise Crouton's child from a tiny little seedling into a beautiful flower.

and boy, did she bloom.

seeing Poppyseed finish that final molt that signaled her maturity into adulthood was magical. the shy little nymph who id raised over the course of 4 months was all grown up, and she was absolutely stunning.

she had developed these dark markings on her face which ran from the front corner of her eye all the way down the side of her "cheek" to the bottom of her head capsule, like mascara-stained tears. her stripes were bold and stunning, only getting more so as she aged. she was a gorgeous little lady.

i had actually been raising another nymph alongside her in a separate tank since she was only weeks old, a boy named Bagel. after Bagel finished his final molt, about a week after Poppyseed had, i felt it was time to move them in together as i had long been planning to do. i wasnt sure what to expect when introducing them to each other, but what happened certainly wasnt it. I'll never forget their first encounter.

Bagel had gotten spooked upon entry into their new home and ended up hanging upside down on the ceiling. Poppyseed, perhaps by scent, took notice of this, and she was FIXATED. she kept climbing on top of the tube hide that was on the ground beneath him, reaching up with her antennae to touch his, wiggling them excitedly all the while.

then, no longer satisfied reaching up from below, she sprang up and joined him.

Poppyseed and Bagel truly had a fascinating relationship. to whatever degree sprickets can develop a "fondness" for each other, they absolutely had it. they spent so, so much time together. sometimes theyd cuddle up against each other in their egg carton hide or under the "spricket coop," other times theyd just stand beside each other, calmly waving their antennae around. i adored watching the pair interact... though they did NOT know how to share when it came to food, ahaha. it was very common for one to ambush the other as they were eating, an altercation that usually ended with Poppyseed picking up the veggie she was munching (her favorite was corn) and running away with it.

Poppyseed had SO much personality. as nymphs, sprickets are generally much more shy than adults, and its only upon reaching maturity that they really come into their own, and Poppyseed was no exception. she was energetic, and perhaps a bit sassy. despite sprickets being nocturnal, she could often be found out and about during the day as Bagel napped in the egg carton. sometimes, after id open the spricket enclosures in the afternoon to give everybody fresh veggies and spray some water on the inside of the tank walls to make it more humid, id walk away and come back to find Poppyseed standing tall and attempting to climb the walls, dancing to sip the "morning mist." it never failed to put a smile on my face!

Poppyseed, at the time of writing this, is the only spricket ive managed to raise from an egg so far, so i wasnt sure what to expect in regards to a lifespan. id raised Crouton and Breadcrumb from nymphs, sure, but they were already months old when id found them, so i couldnt say exactly how old they lived to be. besides them, the only sprickets i had raised by then were ones id caught as adults, so knowing what age they were was impossible. research on the greenhouse camel cricket is extremely minimal, so finding information on them is difficult. id seen their lifespan reported to be from 1-2 years, but ultimately i didnt really know long a full life would be for Poppyseed.

on the night of her 11 month hatch day, i noticed her slowing down dramatically. i saw all the signs id grown to be familiar with when a spricket is reaching the end of its life: extreme lethargy, slumped posture, hanging the head and antennae low. i knew it was time to prepare to say goodbye.

the following afternoon, she was gone.

i cant even begin to describe how much Poppyseed meant to me. ive tried so hard to get it to come across in this memorial, but no words i write can feel strong enough to express how much i loved her. i still do love her, with all my heart. saying goodbye to her has been excruciatingly hard, but, as i often say, love is an investment in heartbreak.

and the 11, beautiful months i got to spend with Poppyseed were worth every tear.

its one of the hard things about raising animals like sprickets, coping with how short their lifespans are. some pets you get a decade or more to enjoy the company of, whereas a spricket's brief life only affords you months.

a spricket isnt nearly as interactive of a pet either, of course. i can kiss and cuddle my cat Wembley until both our little hearts burst with love for each other, but my sprickets dont even truly know i exist. how could they? imagine if a mountain were to reach out and try to touch you. how could you even conceptualize what was happening? the sheer scale of it is simply too grand, a force of nature, surging towards you, unfathomably large and equally as terrifying. to my sprickets, im not a friend; im a phenomenon.

but that doesnt make me love them any less.

as i cared for Poppyseed, i got to see her hit so many milestones. i watched her grow, both physically and as an individual with a unique personality. i got to see her gain confidence and form a relationship (the simplicity or complexity of which i find irrelevant to its significance). i saw her blossom.

when Crouton was dying, i made a promise to her. i promised id raise her baby to be big and strong, and give her a happy and healthy life. i feel confident in saying that i kept my promise to her.

I'll take good care of Bagel for you. im still seaching the substrate you shared for eggs, but ive already found at least one that looks like it could be viable. who knows? maybe you two will end up parents, just like Crouton and Biscuit were yours. i would be honored to keep your lineage alive.
