As a big fan of monster catchers, here is My Opinion

The most difficult and important challenge when creating a monster catcher is balancing the Plot and the Appeal of the Funney Critters

I.E.- does the Appeal outrank the Plot by so much that im mashing A through the story just so i can get to the next set of critters?

The inverse is a hypothetical and has never been observed before. I've never cared more about the plot than i have about the funney lil beasts
