sonic get hug dot ms paint
[full transcript under the cut]
Page 1:
Sonic and Knuckles stand on a hill overlooking Angel Island.
Knuckles folds his arms and leans back.
Knuckles: Y'know. You never told any of us what it felt like in your cybercage.
Sonic: What!! Man, you can't just ask a guy what his cybercage is like!
K: Well we all told you about ours. It's only fair.
S: Yeah but--!
K: Plus I'm worried about you. It's not good to keep these things bottled up.
S: What's this? I thought Amy was supposed to be the emotionally mature one. Don't tell me you've been paying attention to what she tells you?
K: Maybe I have been! I can be emotionally mature too, y'know. If you talk about what's bothering you, it can help you deal with it better. And you seem pretty bothered by what happened in cyberspace.
Knuckles playfully punches Sonic on the arm.
Sonic looks down in thought, scratching his chin.
K: So TALK, YOU!!
S: haha, Okay, okay!
Knuckles looks frustrated by this answer.
S: Hmm... It was kind of like what Amy described--numb, disorienting. Everything was fragmented and dreamy. But it mostly felt empty. Huge and empty. Freaked me out (haha...). Felt like I was in danger for some whatever reason. Just like a bad dream is all.
And I was completely alone.
Wasn't too bad, all things considered. Your experience definitely sounded worse.
Page 2:
Knuckles grabs a startled Sonic by the upper arms.
K: Listen to me, Sonic.
A wide shot of the two of them on the hill as Knuckles speaks.
Knuckles holds Sonic in eye contact.
K: I've spent most of my life alone. Sure, I had the island. The chao, the animals make a difference. But I know what it's like to be alone. And I probably would have stayed that way if you and Eggman had never showed up.
I know what you went through was awful. But I also know that's something you saved me from. And it's not something I'll let happen to you.
K: You were the first friend I ever had. Not counting Eggman, obviously. You are my first friend. And my best friend. I'm not going anywhere.
Sonic shakes and holds back tears. He turns away sniffing and coughing to wipe his eyes.
Page 3:
K: S-shit! Sorry, I wasn't trying to upset you, I was---!
S: No, no. It's cool man. I appreciate it.
Sonic calms down, still facing away.
S: heh...
Sonic whirls around pulls Knuckles into a hug.
S: Thanks, Knux. It's not that I didn't already know that. It's just nice to hear aloud I guess.
Sonic pushes Knuckles away.
Sonic turns away and stretches his arms behind his head.
K: Is that... something I should be saying more often?
S: Nah, once is enough for me.
S: Anyway! That's enough emotional vulnerability for one day. Want to hit each other with sticks?
Sonic races off down the hill as Knuckles enthusiastically grabs a big branch off the ground.
K: Hah! You say that like you could handle a single hit from me!
S: You'll have to catch me first, knucklehead!

How it was made behind the "read more" thing!👇
----------------1.References-----------------
Tumblr media
As reference I used this pages from a Sonic IDW comic recopilation I have, and my experience drawing the character (search Hopeless future comic chapter 1 and 2 for example). Silver is specially hard to animate not only because of his hair shape, but because of the lack of public oficial reefsheets he have. This is probably due to the fact that he NEVER has apeared on a TV show or media. Like for example "Sonic X".
----------------2.Rought pass---------------
Tumblr media
The most important part of any 2D animation: start very VERY simple so you don't die trying to animating. (But first the storyboard. This animation was planed since a lot of time and that's why it doesn't apear here but I also made a storyboard for the ocasion. It is lost on some sketchbook so that's why is not apearing on this Making of 😅
The "K" on some frames are for mark the Keyposes, the rest are inbetweens. Is the first time on decades that I use the timing charm too. As you can see, the character movements are slowest when the animation is finishing, as the timing charm is marking.
-------------3.Rought animation------------
Tumblr media
Once the Rought pass was done, I used it as a base for create a more detailed sketch. Here you can already recognice the character
------------------4.Cleanup------------------
Tumblr media
This was the most tedious and time-consuming part of this animation (And I think it is on all the 2D animations). Because cleanup is not about creating, it is about refining what already exists, taking care that the original message remains intact and at the same time is clear and better understood than the sketch. My back still hurts.
I made the the breakdown frame to stay more time too. This wasn't the final cleanup, just the version after aplying some corrections.
---------------5.Final render-----------------
Tumblr media
The background + the efects + the colors and such. This is the animation over the "read more" thing. The background here and the efects was completely improvised using the features that Opentoonz provided.
--------------------Extra--------------------
-This animation took only 5 hours to be made and it was started and finished literaly today 10/August/2024
-The intention on this animation was to show how Silver take out his ears for listen things due that in some versions of him, you can't see his ears normaly.
-Everything was animated on the program "Opentoonz". An open source program that was used by Studio Gilbi.
-I also discovered that there's a way to make an anime filter there but I never tried it.

Hey, just so you know I love what you did with the straw x male reader and I know this may be sudden but you think you can do a part 2 of it? And if you want, I can put in some of the details if you want? (Warning: This is too long) like let's say this theme is more so focused on reader's past and I will say that his backstory similar to movie sonic where his mother is actually a giant owl who had eaten a human human fruit and Is very knowledgeable with all kinda of devil fruits (She even has collections of them) but of course, like some tragic things that happened to some characters. Both reader and his mother were being raided by people who secretly worked for the world government and because of it, the mother owl had no choice but to sacrifice herself in order to let reader escape (Similar to Nico robin and what happened in Ohara) and in the end, their home got burned down and all reader could do is run away and hide. Anyways back to present, after hearing from an unknown caller that his mother was alive. He didn't believe it at first until there are just way too many evidences that his mother might be still alive after what happened and not only that but finding out how she's secretly working for the world government, it was just absurd to him. Is this the reason why they want him alive? He's not sure anymore. In the end, he decided that it would be best to never tell the crew about it and would just have to go out of his way on his own to find the location where his mother was at. And by the time, straw hats find out that they were too late and reader is already ahead of them. (Also of course, you're free to Refuse this request at any time but if you're still gonna do it then you can do it anytime K? No rush, and It's your decision to do so.)
─ Strawhats x male!reader (Platonic)
─ Summary: you discover things about your supposedly dead mother and the crew is willing to help you
─ Warnings: none
Part one / Part three
ahhh don't worry about asking for the second part suddenly, I'm glad you like my work, hope you like this <3
Tumblr media
─ You were probably adopted (maybe not, but you never wanted to ask), your mother was a giant owl that ate the human-human fruit, but you don't care where you come from, you always loved your mother.
─ A little curious fact is that she is a collector of devil fruits, which caused you some problems because people are greedy with treasures like that, but the thing is that you got your powers because of that very collection.
─ You were just a child when you were snooping through her things and that devil fruit looked tasty, you were disappointed with the taste and on top of that your mother scolded you for that, but there was nothing that could reverse the effects.
─ Normally you had to change houses continuously, the government and some people wanted the devil fruits that your mother collected, as if that were not enough, they also wanted you as an experiment subject since your fruit was quite powerful or sought after.
─ And one day what you were fearing simply happened, the government found you, worst of all, your mother sacrificed herself for you to flee, you couldn't do anything and you began to hate the government more than before, they had taken a being loved without regrets.
─ After that you wandered aimlessly, many newspapers had the exclusive that they had caught the 'evil' thief of devil fruits and were going to make her pay for her sins, your whole world collapsed when a week later, word spread that she had died and they had put up a wanted poster only alive with your face.
─ Your life began to fall apart but luckily, before your intrusive thoughts could do anything, you met Luffy… well, Usopp in the first place, but the important thing was that the strawhats took you in after your life was gone overboard.
─ You started noticing some small clues about your mother inadvertently since Luffy declared war on the world government when they rescued Robin, since then you were much more involved with them.
─ Within you there was that little ray of hope, maybe they didn't kill your mother, maybe she is captive due to her knowledge about the devil fruits, that's why you began to investigate further, following small clues.
─ You kept all this hidden from the others because you thought it was something you had to solve on your own, although Robin was already suspicious about you, you always went to her when you needed more detailed information about the government.
─ "Why so curious now about this?" "For nothing in particular, I like to find out about the people I hate so I can hit them harder." It's not like it was a lie itself, you wanted to hit those bastard governors.
─ You had a small diary where you had everything collected in the last months, luckily they respected your private things, although they thought that all your secrecy was because you were young and you were embarrassed to share some things with them.
─ "Why do you always hide that book of yours when you see us, huh? Don't tell me, it's a diary and you write about your lover there!" "I-It's nothing like that Luffy!" Luffy would always try to tease you and play jokes on you however Sanji or Zoro would always stop him if he got too close to stealing your diary.
─ What made you jump into the attack was a call in which you interfered one night, a call that turned all your suspicions into solid facts, "Yes, my son is the consumer of that fruit, we could locate him if the rumors about that is next to the strawhats are true" "m-mom…?" Luckily they couldn't hear the disbelief in your voice as you heard your mother's clear voice.
─ You were extremely confused as to why she would be part of the government, deeply hurt by the fact that they were looking for you, and not especially to give you hugs.
─ Everyone on the ship noticed your change after you discovered that, you started to talk less to investigate more, you became more paranoid and you started to put a barrier between them and you, you didn't need to cause them more problems than they already had.
─ But your plan to do everything on your own went awry, you tried to deal with some undercover guys who worked for the government on an island, you were seriously injured, if it wasn't because Usopp found your diary and decided to browse a bit ( because this guy couldn't contain himself and thought one look wouldn't hurt anyone) you'd probably be dead by now.
─ While Chopper treated you in a fit of stress, the others looked at your wounded body with a frown, most of them angry for not being able to arrive earlier, Luffy angry with you for not having told him anything.
─ When you recovered he scolded you because you didn't trust them to help you, "Idiot, we are here for you! You are my nakama and I would do anything for you." "I'm sorry…"
─ You apologized to everyone for being so reckless and going alone to a fight you couldn't win, they forgave you and just like Luffy, each one showed in their own way that you didn't need to have that fight by yourself, if you needed their support, there they going to be, even if they had to fight against your own mother, they would not abandon you.

Hi there, I just wanted to ask your opinion on this matter, I currently have been a downer on the sonic franchise, with Flynn, IDW being canon?? And sonic fans. And the problem is I don’t want to take a break on the franchise, because I love sonic. It’s been one of my favorite franchises, growing up. But it’s hard to ignore the issues, with the fans hating the games and praising Flynn constantly. So what should I do?
Focus on the games you like. It's what I do.
Stay away from the fandom, blacklist Flynn's name, rekindle your appreciation by playing older games.
When I'm sad about the fandom dismissing the games or Flynn spreading misconceptions, I boot up Advance 3 again because it makes me smile :)
Tumblr media
Or, hey, today it's 3&K's 30th anniversary! Great time to replay it again!
Tumblr media
Or whatever your own comfort game is :D
My philosophy is that no one can take away your experiences and the feelings tied to them. You don't need to stay updated if the situation makes you miserable. It's okay to take a break: I distanced myself from Sonic in the 2013-2017 period because, well, nothing that appealed to me was coming out. I have unofficially distanced myself since Frontiers as well - I could feel that game and the discourse surrounding it breaking me, and it wasn't pleasant. But seeing Sonic merch still makes me undescribably happy, so I know that my love for the blue boy has not diminished :>

I'm finally gonna post my controversial BTS opinions because this MY blog and I can do what I want with it:
- Note: When talking about his overall work, I refer to Yoongi as Yoongi, and when talking about Yoongi's work with BTS, I refer to him as Suga. This is because Yoongi makes music under two aliases: Suga, under which he performs and produces work for BTS and others, and Agust D, which is a darker, primarily rap based persona.
1) The English songs (with the exception of Permission to Dance) are awful. It is so clear to me BTS were selling out to become popular with mainstream America- which of course failed because who the fuck sings about butter? Though I don't necessarily think it was a full sell out; while I do think they were using the English songs to gain popularity, I do think they would have returned to making primarily Korean music after breaking into the mainstream.
2) RM, Suga, and J-Hope are the reason BTS's music is so good. They were the first three members signed by Hitman Bang, and BTS was formed as a way to publish their music (A multi-dimensional (rap, vocals, and dance) boy band was necessary for BTS to make their mark on the K-pop scene). That's not to say the other 4 members don't contribute to the band- BTS wouldn't be BTS without each member- or they aren't involved with the making of the music, but if you look at the album credits, especially the early albums when they were discovering their sound, RM, Suga, and J-Hope are the members who were most involved in the writing and production of the songs.
3) BTS are first and foremost a rap and r&b group. It is not a coincidence BTS's best songs are rap songs or that the rappers of the group (RM, Suga, and J-Hope) are the founding members and principal producers. Over time, they also introduced EDM to their sonic profile, which allowed them to add some pop elements to their music. However, when BTS started making primarily pop music instead of rap, r&b and EDM, the quality of their songs decreased significantly. This was a very sharp decline because Map of the Soul: 7 was a quality album, and hell, BE was pretty good too, but the poppy-ness of the English songs and most of the solo releases are the reason why they suck in comparison to the rest of BTS's discography.
4) J-Hope's Hope World, Taehyung's Layover, and all of RM's and Yoongi's discographies are the only good solo works. Hope World, Layover, Mono (RM), Indigo (RM), and the Agust D Trilogy (Yoongi) each have a very distinct and cohesive sound. RM and Yoongi's work as producers for other artists is consistently very good as well. Additionally, closer examination of these albums show they are primarily rap, r&b, and edm, rather than pop, even if they do contain some pop elements.
5) I don't think BTS are getting back together- bands very rarely do. The members also have very different music styles from each other now, as evident from the solo works. However, I wouldn't be surprised if there were some collaborations in the future. In particular, I think there is high possibility for RM, J-Hope, and Suga (especially RM and Suga) to collaborate and create their own album as a trio (or duo). That being said, I would be happy to be proven wrong on this point.
Again, to any over zealous ARMY who happens to find this, these are just my OPINIONS and shouldn't be taken as anything other than the mad ramblings of a college student who now has too much time on their hands because of winter break. Even so, I've been a BTS fan for 8 and a half years and I've been there for most of their sonic development. I've watched them be chameleons who use elements from several genres to produce a sound which is unique theirs. I genuinely believe there is not another band who can experiment with music the way they do and still make it sound consistently great. Out of all the artists I listen to, they have the least amount of skips (I literally only skip the Japanese versions and English songs); BTS are just that good. So these opinions come from an angle of supreme admiration for their craft.
For anyone curious, my favorite member is Yoongi; specifically Agust D. I practically live on the D-2 album. RM is a very close second- Mono was there for me during a very dark time in my life. My favorite BTS album is Dark & Wild (the intro is soooo good). In general, I have a preference for the earlier albums. While I love all the albums, the pure rap and r&b vibes of early albums are just fantastic- which also means I have a very strong preference for BTS' rap songs.
Anyways, this is insanely long so I'm just gonna end it here: Since Love is Everything - RM

okay god. some ark swap au notes <3
important to note that maria the hedgehog (or hedgemari, as i call her in my head) is still disabled in this au. experiences chronic pain. the inhibitor rings help, but the chronic pain was never something addressed by gerald since he was like well, she's the ultimate lifeform, she can't get sick (gerald ableism moment but hey this guy famously did not consider the feelings of the ultimate lifeform in sa2).
the dialogue of maria and shadow's "what do you think it's like on earth" conversation doesn't change much from sa2 - maria proceeds to talk about how gerald wanted to make people happy thru science - BUT shadow is still the one to wonder why he was born and that maybe on earth he'd find the answers. it'd still be something he wonders as a terminally ill human teenager. i'm trying to maintain their mainline personalities even with the similarities they have (they share the same soul after all!), and i think very much like how people portray maria in fanon, shadow would be Tired of his life up on the ark. had he lived to see earth he wouldve ended up very similar to canon, finding joy in things like lavender and tiramisu and supporting local convenience stores, but hey sorry kid you gotta die for the narrative </3
while designing hedgemari i didn't wanna overcomplicate her like a lot of the popular mobian maria designs from back in the day (no disrespect they're fun but kindove A Lot compared to the sonic design philosophy). i wanted to keep her silhouette similar to shadow's, keeping in mind the theory of him being based on the hidden palace mural in s3&k (and him being star shaped). i think it's fun how nicely it all aligned that she looks like super sonic, so that's where people's confusion of her and sonic would come from in this universe.
hedgemari is also not part black arms like canon shadow is! i have yet to actually think in depth of the events of shadow 05 in this au but i know it would go pretty different regarding black doom's motivations for wanting her to join him AND maria's personality and her approaching her amnesia differently from shadow. (spoilers: black doom has beef with a long-dead gerald for breaking the deal of making her with his blood and wants maria's power for the black arms anyway. he's like a fucked up stepdad instead of bio-dad like shadow's case)
don't get it twisted though. she still has a rivalry with sonic and can be a little blunt and mean. she's maria, but she's not exactly the same polite maria from canon, even if the kindness in her heart drives her same principles. she gets underestimated due to her appearance (and being a girl lol), but it doesn't stop her from being ruthless to a point.

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze accessibility review
Game title: Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze
Platform(s): Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Switch
Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish
Age rating: ESRB E, PEGI 3
Genre/theme: Donkey Kong and friends are in the middle of celebrating his birthday when all of a sudden an evil walrus and his penguin minions attack the island, freezing much of it in the process. Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, and Funky Kong have to clear the enemies off of the island, all while collecting the K-O-N-G letters, 1-up balloons, hidden puzzle pieces, coins, and bananas. The gameplay is primarily in the platformer genre, with some minecart levels, swimming levels, barrel aiming mini-games, and boss battles.
Violence: Mild; Donkey Kong and friends defeat the enemies by jumping on them and bouncing off of their heads, there is no blood or gore.
Maturity: No nudity, sexuality, swearing, or drugs or alcohol references.
Phobias:  Blood/gore: None
Drowning: Donkey Kong and friends can swim underwater and have an air meter. Strategically placed air bubbles are available to replenish your meter, but if it runs down entirely your character can drown. Funky Kong is the exception to this, as he has scuba gear and can breathe underwater.
Heights: The main characters are flung high into the sky in the opening story cinematic. There are also few drops from significant heights within the levels.
Sharks: Your character can be attacked and killed by sharks in the water levels. The sharks are fairly cartoonishly designed but there is a sense of dread when they’re around. Sharks can be knocked out with a swim spin attack.
Spiders: None
Underwater: There are several deep underwater levels and sections in the game.
Multiplayer: 2-player cooperative mode allows two players to play through levels simultaneously. If either player gets too far ahead of the other, the player trailing behind will automatically warp ahead to the location of the leading player. If your gaming partner is prone to falling off of a lot of ledges you may run through a lot of shared lives, but there are lots of 1-up balloons to be found, 100 bananas to be collected (which nets you +1 life), and more lives can be purchased at the in-game shop using the collectable coins as well.
Difficulty modes: Tropical Freeze can be played in original mode where you play as Donkey Kong, or there’s also the option of playing the game in Funky mode, allowing you to play as Funky Kong, who makes the game significantly easier with his 5 health hearts (instead of 2), and his abilities to double jump, hover, breathe underwater, and take no damage from spikes. If you or your gaming partner are struggling (the game does have some pretty challenging levels and bosses), then playing as Funky is a great way to experience the game without dying constantly. Note that when playing as Funky Kong in single player you will not have the assistance of any other sidekick character, but Funky is amazing and you really won’t need Diddy, Dixie, or Cranky’s help.
When you have a sidekick character with you there is a meter that will gradually fill up, once this is full L + R can be pressed to turn all on-screen enemies into either 1-up balloons or coins to be collected. Several helpful items are available for sale at the item shop as well, these are stored until you need them to get past tough levels; they can be found on the Inventory tab on the map menu screen.
The bosses in this game are notably more difficult than in Mario games, they require many hits to take down, but are also fairly generous with giving you healing items for successful hits.
Complexity: Simple; Tropical Freeze is a straightforward platforming game that fans of all ages of Donkey Kong, Mario, and Sonic games can pick up and enjoy.
The three sidekick characters (Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, and Cranky Kong) all add a different play style to Donkey Kong’s moves. Diddy has a jetpack that adds extra height and a little distance to your jumps, Dixie does a hair spin move that adds a good amount of hover to your jump, and Cranky has a cane/pogo-stick that works similarly to Scrooge McDuck in the Ducktales games, allowing you to jump and then bounce with the cane to gain extra height.
Instructions, saving, story recap, menus, & waypoints: There is no physical instruction manual in the case. The basic controls aren’t readily given to you, but they only consist of the left stick or directional buttons to move and B to jump and Y to slam the ground/spin underwater. There are a few objects to interact with in each level, and button prompts appear on screen for these. The controls can be referenced (and changed) in the Pause menu.
There are checkpoints in each level marked by a pig waiting at a kiosk. If you die after unlocking a checkpoint you can continue from that point in the level, unless you lose so many lives that you end up with a Game Over and have to restart the level from the beginning. Barrels appear throughout each level that contain your secondary character, pick them up and throw them to unlock your sidekick character.
The overworld map will be familiar to long-time players of both the Donkey Kong and Mario series, and is easy to navigate. There is a Menu that can be accessed on the overworld map that contains Summary, Options, and Extras. The game auto-saves after each completed level and when exiting. There are 3 save slots to choose from, so 3 different playthroughs can be saved and loaded.
Subtitles: Yes; there are subtitles, but not very many of the characters actually speak anyway.
Text customization: None; the default text size is in a medium-large fairly clear to read black font on a white text window.
Voice acting: None; just the noises that Donkey Kong and friends make when jumping.
Volume settings: Sound Effects Volume (0–100), and Music Volume (0–100)
Photosensitivity: When your character gets hit by an enemy they disappear-flash for a second or two, this isn’t super intense though and you can focus your eyes elsewhere on the screen to reduce the intensity even further. At the beginning of each level When playing as Funky Kong, he makes his entrance and strikes a pose with a bright glint on his teeth.
Motion-sickness and camera: The camera is a smooth and steady third-person side-scrolling view. There are windmills in the background of a few levels that are somewhat disorienting, and there are also a few platforming sections with rotating platforms. One of the loading screens has a spinning barrel that is a bit dizzying to focus on. One of the other loading screens has spinning bananas that are somewhat disorienting. The cloud loading screen is pretty intense in handheld mode.
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on the Nintendo Switch runs at a steady 60FPS in 1080p in docked mode. Note that the resolution takes a hit in handheld mode though, running at 648p. The handheld mode runs noticeably a bit less crisp than many other games on the Switch. It looks fine, but it really shines when played on a nice TV.
Colorblindness mode: None; color settings can only be adjusted in TV settings.
Controller rumble: Yes; no option to turn off.
Remappable controls: Controls can be changed in the Options section of the Pause Menu or Map Menu, but are fairly limited. There are Default and Alternate control schemes for each type of controller input, with the Alternate modes for each controller only switching the triggers (ZL + ZR) and the X and Y buttons.
Quick-time events: The majority of the game can be played at your leisure (with no level timer), but the minecart levels and sections do require very carefully timed jumps.
Physical impact: Light-medium; playing as Donkey Kong can have some gradual impact on the hands and forearms, and is generally best played in short-medium length game sessions. Playing as Funky, however, has notably less physical impact, which allows for longer play times.
Adaptability and input: Controls are simple, well spaced out, and can be partially customized. The majority of the controls are thumb input, so gamers with thumb or thumb joint struggles may have to set the controller on their lap and play using their fingers but this is definitely doable. Can be played one-handed, which may be easier when playing with a single Joycon controller.
Can be played with one Switch Joycon controller, two Switch Joycon controllers, two controller-docked Joycon controllers, handheld-docked Joycon controllers, Switch Pro controller, Gamecube controller, Sony Dualshock 4 controller (adapter required to use on Switch), Xbox One Bluetooth Controller (adapter required to use on Switch), Wii U tablet controller, Wii U Pro Controller (adapter required to use on Switch). No touchscreen or voice control functionality.

Overall accessibility score: 3.7/5.0 (Please note that this score does not reflect the entertainment or enjoyment value of the game, it represents the range of accessibility for gamers who have specific limitations.)
Originally released in 2014 for the Nintendo Wii U, and re-released in 2018 on the Nintendo Switch, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze (with Funky Mode) is by far the best way to play the game; the addition of Funky Kong makes it significantly more accessible. Tropical Freeze is filled with well-designed and challenging levels that can be overcome with the help of a friend, sidekick characters and useful items, or playing as Funky Kong. There are several different controller options and a couple of control scheme options to choose from, and the control scheme is simple and easy to understand and recall.
There are a few minor instances of motion-sickness, but the vast majority of the game features a smooth and steady side-scrolling experience. Tropical Freeze is largely photosensitivity safe, though your character disappear-flashes briefly when hit by an enemy, but focusing your eyes elsewhere on the screen reduces the impact of the effect (or playing well enough to avoid getting hit!) There isn’t any voice-acting beyond a few grunts here and there, but that comes as no surprise as we haven’t heard Donkey Kong speak since the 1997 Donkey Kong Country television series. The lack of text settings is disappointing, but Donkey Kong games historically don’t rely too heavily on text and instead focus on the solid platforming gameplay that they’re well-known for.

1 and 17!
1. Character everyone gets wrong
depends on the media we're talking abt
in saiki k nobody gets saiki and teruhashi right specially their interactions and separate characters which makes it An Experience to be part of the fandom at all anymore
in sonic id say y'all have a good idea of what tails is on but not fully yk, but certainly belle gets the everyone gets wrong treatment nobody gets how crazy good she is okay her parallels with tails and other characters are crazy i cannot. explain in words.
in skullgirls MAN. MAN. nobody knows how insane umbrella's storyline can get and how much her story mode represents her ok. also miss fortune she is so
ajin needs more fans but i wanna say that anyone ive seen interprets the characters well and is a nice little niche i like what ive seen
and in final space i personally think a lot of ppl wanna make avocato too nice just bc he's likable and i think he deserves to be liked as the mass murderer he is n all that jazz ykyk we need more bad people being likable without justifying it i like avo a lot not to find his crimes as a bonus <3
OH and finally. community. this is so so important Guys you need to get it pierce is one of my favorites and he deserved his arc to be finished and he deserved more time and be treated better by the show he needed his development so badly i was so invested in it
the question 17 i already answered it lmao

Knuckles The Echidna
do I like them: He's fine in my book.
5 good qualities:
Strong.
Dedicated to his role.
Respects his comrades despite his mixed thoughts on some of them (read: Sonic).
Capable treasure hunter.
One of the biggest meme lords in the series.
3 bad qualities:
Gullible.
Hot-headed.
Didn't get to do shit in '06.
favourite episode/etc: His debut in S3&K was a strong one, with him having a palpable presence throughout Sonic's adventure before striking out on his own journey. Shout out to Mania as well for the scene where he successfully defends the Master Emerald from Heavy King, having learned from his Eggman-inflicted electroshock experience. And credit to Zero Gravity for showing his ability to decipher languages.
If we're counting adaptations, I also really like Idris Elba the Echidna.
otp: "HRRHRRHRR… dang."
brotp: Knuckles and Amy bounce off each other pretty well.
ot3: "HRRHRRHRR… rats."
notp: Ken Penders and the Chamber of Shit
best quote: Not technically a quote, but…
Tumblr media
head canon: As much as he takes his guardian duties very seriously, he does slightly envy Sonic for his carefree lifestyle, and although he obviously doesn't like the Master Emerald being stolen, he subconsciously - and begrudgingly - appreciates the opportunity to see more of the world.

Reputation - skipless masterpiece argue with the snake infested walls
Midnights - maybe bc it’s still shiny & new but my ears have not grown tired yet, such a banger every listen through
Lover (debatable with 1989 - mostly cruel summer carries this album on its poor singleless back)
1989 (see Lover - she’s nothing new and therefore has lost her shimmer, but she’ll always be iconic)
Red (placed so low simply bc I love her pop albums more than anything)
Speak Now (very middle pack for me, a nice neutral if you will)
Debut (honestly debatable with evermore depending on my mood - the voice…sometimes I can’t tolerate it *knee slaps*)
Evermore (see debut - also I lowkey find folkmore a bit boring ✨sonically✨)
Folklore (I do like some songs, they’re just never my first choices, like ever, except against fearless)
Fearless (I just don’t like this album, Mr perfectly fine is a banger tho shout out to Joe Jonas)
Bonus jail points? Top 10 Songs (atm):
Wildest Dreams (my holy grail stan song don’t come for me, you’ll never change my mind)

Melanie Martinez - 'Portals' REVIEW
“Follow the tunnel, into the portal, lay all your burdens to rest”
Track 1: DEATH
This was a poor choice for a pre-release single. The verse and pre-chorus lyrics are beautifully crafted and much of the production is otherworldly and alluring, but the chorus falls down the same pitfalls that several of the ‘K-12’ songs fell down. It’s undeniably repetitive, and it gets old very quickly. It’s not a bad song, but to start a new era? 6.5/10
Track 2: VOID
This song is EVERYTHING I wanted from this album. The lyrics are poignant, the melodies are wonderfully weird and addictive, and Melanie’s vocal performance is just perfect. I have been singing ‘pipe down with the noise I cannot bear my sorrow’ since I first heard it. Her theatrical style suits the magnitude of her songs beautifully. ‘VOID’ is Melanie at her best - definitely a highlight of the album, and my joint favourite. 10/10.
Track 3: TUNNEL VISION
The opening????? FLAWLESS. The vocoder distortion is straight from the 95th dimension. Beyond the opening, this song doesn’t really do much for me, and the sample from her first album just serves to remind the listener of a great album they could be listening to, which isn’t really a good thing, even if it is from the same person. It’s not awful, but it’s not great either. 6.5/10.
Track 4: FAERIE SOIRÉE
Major Sabrina Carpenter vibes from the instrumental, which I love, obviously. This song suffers from a similar plight to ‘TUNNEL VISION’ - lack of separation between sections, and a lack of journey from the start of the song to the end. The last 45 seconds that transition to the next song however are really fun, but the song is generally quite forgettable. 5/10.
Track 5: LIGHT SHOWER
Through the lens of an interlude, this song is incredibly successful. It sounds like faerie incantations, and the instrumental builds just enough to convey the anger in the serenity. I can definitely see this song majorly growing on me, but it is a shame it’s immediately after some of the worst songs on the album. 7/10.
Track 6: SPIDER WEB
The ingenious way Melanie crafts her melodies is put on full display in this song - it lyrically describes being stuck in the chain, hive minds, and feeling like a puppet, and the production and melodies reflect this perfectly. A fun listen. 7/10.
Track 7: LEECHES
Biggest snooze of the album - very little new is explored, very little is memorable. Everything ‘Leeches’ does, ‘Light Shower’ does already and better. Perhaps it will grow on me, but I doubt it. 3/10.
Track 8: BATTLE OF THE LARYNX
‘Battle of the Larynx’ works for me, but I doubt I will seek out to listen to it on its own. I thought it a little weird at first, but now I love the use of ‘larynx’ in the chorus - in the context of the song it gives Melanie’s voice an almost ethereal, mythic quality - like her words are as powerful as an ancient gorgon. Its themes feel like a sequel to ‘Alphabet Boy’. 7/10.
Track 9: THE CONTORTIONIST
A spiritual sister to ‘Detention’ from K-12, ‘The Contortionist’ is one of the most sonically creative songs on the album. It’s classic Melanie in all her glory. I love the layering in the chorus, this song is easily one of my favourites from the whole album. 8.5/10.
Track 10: MOON CYCLE
This song knows it’s a little goofy, and after a couple listens I’m really okay with that. It’s easily confident, and was clearly written to be a big middle finger to frustratingly common experiences of period shaming. I’m actually glad Melanie shoves the themes in your face in this song, it says that stigmas around such a common experience are ridiculous. 8/10.
Track 11: NYMPHOLOGY
‘Nymphology’ is such a classic genre of Melanie Martinez songs - that nursery rhyme sound with some comically lude lyrics thrown in to keep it fun. I can see it being an easy hit amongst her long term listeners. The ending/transition segment is so fun as well - it reminds me of old Hollywood - it’s very Marylin Monroe. 7.5/10.
Track 12: EVIL
Easily one of the best songs on the album, ‘EVIL’ is a punch up in every sense. This song is cathartic and cleansing, but it’s also raging and just a tad psychotic. The line ‘See the horns on my head? They’re from goddesses, on God’ is so unbelievably good, and I'm not entirely sure why I love it so much, but I do. All the lyrics are extremely well crafted, and the song as a whole has very big ‘STFU - Rina Sawayama’ vibes. My joint favourite song on the album, 10/10.
Track 13: WOMB
A more lowkey track to close the album, ‘Womb’ is an understated bop to inspire another album listen. I don’t especially love it right now, but it’s just a little addictive, so I can definitely see myself coming back to this one. 7/10,
Conclusion:
I think ‘Crybaby’ remains her magnum opus, but ‘Portals’ feels like a really fun experiment for Melanie. It’s a world away from ‘K-12’ and ‘Crybaby’ thematically, and I can tell that she has so much more to do in this industry with Crybaby’s story. Using my individual track rankings, this album has a mean average score of 7/10.
