Fake bot accounts using Animals

Asking for reblogs and boosts for their pet's health Using a non-existent sick pet so people click their "donation" links (aka malicious links that steal your info) With stolen images of people holding pets This is fucking sickening. Honestly scum level behaviour. I was LUCKY that these accounts were already taken down.

The return of the bots following me feels like it's become a weird, dreaded, tumblr holiday with a bunch of relatives you don't want to see. Like, ugghh it's that time again. No I don't want to talk to you. Ah yes you look very nice, now please leave me alone.

"Is this new follower a bot or a real person?" a guide to recognise them on sight!

Go to your settings. Notifications, on the right side. "All notifications and all emails" click the pen and change it to receive emails for new followers. When a real person follows you, you get an email. If it's a bot, there's no email.

Does it work every time? Probably not, it's still tumblr. Remember to check the blog anyway, to be sure. Weird url, no profile pic, no title, no likes or reblogs... That's a bot. Report them as spam.

Hey everyone! Spam bots are evolving. Their names are now two hyphenated words. They have minorly edited the backgrounds too. They still use "sexy girl" imagery, no titles, and no posts so watch out for that.

I’m sorry, but I don’t give a shit how realistic your URL or reblogs & posts look. If your blog is untitled or has no banner or profile pic, then it’s getting blocked and reported spam.

Literally go to Google and make your profile picture a stock photo of a Honda Civic or something. It’d literally be 10x better than just having a blank blog.

It was a quiet few days, but the spambots are infecting every tag again. Remember, their likes are set to public, and they're all engaging with each other. If it is safe for you to do so and you are not a minor, go through their likes and report all those posts as spam before marking their own posts and their account as spam. We can get more of them in a shorter amount of time that way. Mark as spam, not as adult content. We wanna get them nuked off the platform, not just marked as adult content.
