I have no idea if you've already done it, but I request bug versions of the human shitheads
this is genuinely probably one of my favorite pieces so far. like idk why but i totally prioritized this ask because you called them the human shitheads. thats just so funny to me. these DORKS!!! the SILLIES!! also bc these guys arnt aliens. like the humans are humans they dont gotta be bugs. but fuck i just love anthro bugs!!! so much. like theres no stopping me.
Rose is a rosy maple moth, but she wishes she had darker more goth coloration. Worked perfect with her name and associations with seeking light dangerously, too. Jade's a wooly aphid because they're cute and fuzzy, i particularly love their shiny wings and whispy fur. Dave's an assassin bug--but they're also called wheel bugs for the cog-like shell on their back. Super deadly an agile bugs, puts a lot of expectations on him... John might just be my favorite though. With his love of slimer and association with ectoplasm, he's a spitbug!! they're just bright green and silly little guys. perfect!

aurora, i am very bored. what are your opinions on bugs? are they scary creatures to you, or cute?
i have ALWAYS wanted to be one of those “wow! what a cute beetle!” type of people, but i am in fact the type of person who screams when i see a grasshopper 😭
i like bugs in theory, but they scare me in actuality :(
(i do adore butterflies though :) <3 (and moths and bees but they scare me a little))
aly i would love to keep you company but unfortunately i am about to go to sleep. HOWEVER i will answer this one question to tide you through till morning!
i am a big bug fan. i've grown up in a rural area so ever since i was a kid i've had pretty much daily interactions with creepy crawlies of various types, and although i don't love all of them there are very few im scared of, the most notable exemption being bees and wasps (this is because of multiple tramautic incidents involving them which im sure you can imagine for yourself). beetles of all species, centipedes, spitbugs, water skippers, ladybugs, dragonflies, praying mantises, non-venomous spiders, monarch butterflies, and daddy long legs are some of my favourite bugs. not bugs but i also like frogs, snails, earth worms, and salamanders. the one genre of bug i truly loathe are the nasty bloodsucking ones like mosquitos and black flies. they are the WORST!
it takes a very freaky bug (or an innocent little bee) to frighten me, and i am the sort of person who goes "oh hey check out that guy!" rather than "AGH!" upon seeing a bug :) and i must admit i am also the sort of person who holds up a bug in front of the face of someone who's freaked out by bugs just for the fun of it. even you are not immune to my bug-related hyjinks!

So my totally planned & intentional crop of miner’s lettuce is coming in both thick & profuse 😬 . Joking, but last year I did rip out all the other “weeds” & left the miner’s lettuce in longer, & this year has much more lettuce & fewer other things, so... yeay 🥳 . With some dogs also using the yard, have to remember to wash before eating or else ur in trouble 🙊 Also: spitbugs 🙃 . Hella salads coming up! ✊🏼 . #LettuceRejoice #NoAWeedIfYouEatIt #MinersLettuce #ClaytoniaPerfoliata #NotAWeed #CoverCrop #GrowTheSoil #WinterGardening #NorCal #Zone9bGardening #Zone9b #Permaculture https://www.instagram.com/p/CLpY9IygJVg/?igshid=62hijlz7761j

Sorry if youve answered this before, but how do you chose the bugs to assign to each character ? Also they are all really cool and fun :3
Hi, I’ve explained this before but I’ll do it again! Last time I explained it was less specific to the character and more to the caste, so this’ll be a little different. I use the metaphors and associations of the insect to pick their species as well as their diet. I’m calling the species a troll mimics their ‘morph’.
Aradia: Fly. Associated with death. Detritivore.
Tavros: Craneflies. Frailty, timidness, clumsiness. Thinking longhorn beetle might be a funnier pun though, so I might change it. Herbivore.
Sollux: Bees. Construction, intelligence, connections to groupthink/hiveminds/psi. Herbivore.
Nepeta: Caterpillar. It’s a pun. Herbivore.
Karkat: Isopod. Highly social insect. Durable shell representing defensiveness/personal barriers, but also serving literal aspect of ‘thick skin.’ Detritivore.
Kanaya: Hornet. Dangerous but caring parents, association with femininity. Omnivore.
Terezi: Dragonfly. Good eyesight’s associated with clarity, though large eyes would also be easier to blind. Good at flying. Dragon pun. Carnivore.
Vriska: Spider. Manipulative, association with femininity. Carnivore.
Equius: Beetle. Strong. Omnivore.
Gamzee: Praying mantis. Associations with religion due to unique praying pose. Carnivore.
Eridan: Anolomacaris. Extinct skilled distance hunter. Carnivore.
Feferi: Trilobite. Large curved spines, trident tongue, ‘ruler of precambrian seas.’ Detritvore.
All insects before Jade are herbivores or detritivores, and all insects jade and after are middle to highblood can hunt. This was to set up an intentionally antagonistic relationship between lowbloods and highbloods. It’s also a new way to play with themes in my personal work which are all about animal dynamics.
I mostly did the human kids as bugs as a joke, because they’re not aliens at all so its funny!! But I had a ton of fun with them so here we go again. I chose them off colors and gimmicks.
John: Spitbug. They’re bright green and gooey boys. Like ectoplasm. Rose: Rosy maple moth. Name association—also bright pink and yellow against their will. Rose wishes she was a cool goth all-black moth. Moths are associated with ‘seeking light.’
Dave: Assassin beetle/wheel bug. Have a gear shaped bump on back, large black eyes, efficient predators, some red coloration. Fits in with his expectations and pressures.
Jade: Wooly aphid. They’re white, fuzzy, with rainbow wings. That’s so her.
Jane: Candy-striped leafhopper. Bright cyan with red highlights, food-themed name.Roxy: Pink-spotted cattleheart. Gorgeous pink and black coloring. Butterflies are nectar-drinkers, associated with celebration and inebriation. Kinda clumsy too.
Dirk: Tiger beetle. They can move in bursts of motion faster than they can see. That’s flash stepping. Orange and black.
Jake: Diving beetle. Dark green with orange highlights, explorers who go where other beetles cannot.

Facebook axe accounts of Russian firms using facial recognition
Facebook axe accounts of Russian firms using facial recognition | Daily Mail Online
Facebook has removed accounts, pages and apps linked to firms which build facial recognition software for the Russian government.
The social media giant announced on Thursday it had removed 66 accounts associated with SocialDataHub and its sister firm Fubutech.
It said the companies had violated Facebook policy by scraping data from the social network.

Facebook has removed 66 accounts, pages and apps linked to firms which build facial recognition software (pictured, the entrance to Facebook headquarters in Menlo Park, California)
'Facebook has reason to believe your work for the government has included matching photos from individuals' personal social media accounts in order to identify them,' the company said in a cease-and-desist letter to SocialDataHub, The New York Times reported.
The companies involved, which share 52 employees in Moscow, were reportedly given until yesterday to confirm what data they had taken and delete it.
WHAT IS DATA SCRAPING?
Data scraping is a process in which computer programmers extract data from another website.
While this can be done manually by a software user, this is generally an automated process implemented using a bot or web crawler.
Specific data is then gathered and copied from the web into a central spreadsheet or database.
Data scraping is often used for research for web content or business intelligence, pricing for comparison sites, or conducting market research by crawling public data sources.
It can also be used to send product data from one e-commerce site to another online vendor.
Source: Target Internet
Both SocialDataHub and Fubatech have existed for at least four years, relying in part on Facebook data.
SocialDataHub assigns scores to Russians based on their social media profiles to evaluate potential new customers for insurers and banks.
Fubatech, on the other hand, has compiled a database of Russian citizens and their images that the government can use for facial recognition.
The two companies have reportedly been collecting at least some of this data through web scraping.
This is a technique in which computer programmers can pull information from a website, in a way Facebook said is difficult to detect and prevent.
Artur Khachuyan, the chief executive of SocialDataHub and Fubutech, said in an interview on Friday that Facebook had deleted his companies' accounts unfairly.
He admitted Fubutech does build facial-recognition software for the Russian government and uses Facebook data, but said it data scrapes Google search results for the information.
The 26-year-old also said SocialDataHub required permission from the users it rates.
Mr Khachuyan said he believes two of his journalism students scraped Facebook for the public profiles of their classmates after being taught how to do so, and this was mistaken for the activity of his companies.

He said: 'Maybe it's a reason to deactivate our accounts, but I don't know why Facebook deletes Instagram account of my dog.'
Katy Dormer, a Facebook spokeswoman, rejected Mr Khachuyan's claim that Facebook confused his students' activity with that of his companies'.
She said: 'We don't take these actions lightly. The fact we took the action and sent the letter means we saw enough evidence.'
