This is the last week to see the 2022 M16 Artspace Drawing Award in Canberra. Congratulations to all finalists who were selected across Australia and internationally. A special Congratulations to the winner Mark Shorter @marktshorter and runner up Damon Kowarsky @damonkowarsky and local artist award winner Melissa Emerson. Such a beautifully curated exhibition and honour to be selected as a finalist by two incredible judges the lovely Megan Monte @meganlmonte curator and inaugural Director of amazing new regional gallery Ngununggulla @ngununggula and Dr. Sarina Noordhuis-Fairfax, Canberra-based artist, writer, curator and Curator, Australian Prints and Drawings at the National Gallery of Australia @nationalgalleryaus who selected my work alongside such a incredible line up of finalists. Thanks also to all the sponsors The Cogito Group and Delta Cleaning services, including all the friendly staff @m16artspace for putting on such a lovely evening, especially to the director Emerson Radisich for overseeing such a beautifully curated show and opening 💥 Head to Canberra to see it! What a lovely surprise! Posted @withrepost • @m16artspace Congratulations to all the finalists of the 2022 M16 Artspace Drawing Prize which opened this Thursday with fanfare! This years runner up award, sponsored by Delta Cleaning Services goes to Damon Kowarsky and his work 'Studenica'. During the covid lockdowns of 2021, Kowarsky reminisced on time spent in a 2019 residency in Studenica, a 12th century monastery in the Serbian mountains. With memories full of light, colour and lush vegetation, Studenica provided a welcome escape from reality. "The hills at Studenica rise steeply from the river valley, so it seems that more than half the sky is taken up by trees, and interspersed here and there with houses and small farms.
