I am fascinated by the media presence aspect of Midst. That panopticon element shaping what the Consectors are doing, saying, *thinking* (because how could being on a stage every second not shape how you think about what you're doing?), and how it is getting relayed by the reporters. They're trying to rescue a child and they're told to wait for the media and everyone sees this as normal and expected. The feedback Jonas gives Phineas is about performing better for the cameras. There is disapproval of swearing due to censor requirements. The success of the mission is partly (mostly?) about whether it was compelling teletherically. It is nine kinds of fucked up and I am SO here for it

re lrb: the most important thing about the signalis creepy tv save stations is that ariane can see elster through every single one. that is the red eye and the red eye is ariane! she is watching and remembering elster all while elster descends deeper and deeper into the labyrinth and remembers ariane. come closer, ariane says, in the ending in which elster fails to reach her. i'm waiting.

jon seems to be the only one who has some degree of sentience if he is trapped in the computer/office in general, given that he's not only able to send an email but clearly picked a magnus institute statement to read out once sam and celia started demonstrating a waning interest in any investigation into the institute

Just finished Inscryption, I am typing this recommendation as the credits roll and I think about what the fuck I just witnessed. It is a card game though… and an escape room puzzle… and an RPG… and there was one bit where I was just looking through found footage. I don’t really know how to explain it bit if you want to play something fucked up you should play it. It’s by the pony island people.

see, the card game part of the gameplay still gives me pause, but then again card shark is technically a gard game too, but that is super interesting, so who knows...

but escape room, you say? okay, that piques my interest for sure. and ofc i loved pony island, so that's another point in its favor! i might have to watch a bit of the gameplay to be convinced, but i'll definitely toss it into the wishlist to keep an eye on the sales!
