swedish public service television svt, the network that will host eurovision this year, released a statement in response to an open letter signed by 1000+ swedish artists protesting israel being allowed in esc, in which they of course said nothing of real consequence just the same old ”ebu will decide” etc etc but what stuck out to me was that in this statement, they wrote that ”no one can be unaffected by the conditions in gaza right now, or by hamas’ attack in israel”. sorry the fucking CONDITIONS in gaza? Like it’s an earthquake or a bad harvest? like people are just having a bit of a bad time in gaza at the moment? the fucking audacity of a PUBLIC SERVICE NETWORK to attempt to be so neutral to the point that they can’t even fucking mention the 25.000+ deaths. disgusting

I wish there was no jury again. Like it's clear from the semis that the public is doing just fine. The jury only exists to pick whoever wins for all the wrong reasons whether it be money or politics.

Honestly jury should have never been a thing to begin with. Saying it's to stop political votes etc. as if its not easier to buy off 3 people than an entire country doesn't make sense and has never once actually worked.

I will never understand why people think the early 2000s no jury eurovision era was somehow worse as if we didn't get the most musically diverse and interesting winners during that time.

If it's true that Sweden won because of the ABBA anniversary, i think they did a really stupid mistake in not letting Finland win. Like Finland and Sweden are thee bff. Honestly, i'm not surprised that loreen won, to the point that i don't even feel dissapointed over it. What does makes me sad however, is that every year i watch melodifestivalen and hear thwse actually good, funky and catchy songs in SWEDISH only for sweden to send the same song every year, knowing that they'll do well with the judges. It's clear that sweden is so obsessed with placing high in esc that they forget to have fun and just send the same song every year.

Above all else it's so embarrassing actually.
