Hi Moon! I've been listening to the Aot soundrack a lot lately, and the song Splinter Wolf makes me think of Annie, it's such a badass song! Do you have a favorite piece from the Aot sountrack?
Anooooonnn!!!!!!!!! You want mE??? to tAlK ABOUT THE AOT SOUNDTRACK????!!!!!
T____T
Okay okay so if I actually, SERIOUSLY consider it, this ask will stretch into several pages xD I'll keep it short, then.
My absolute favourite overall across all the albums is Successor from the S4 OST. It ended up never being used but it's just-- oh god I just love it to death, it's just so majestic and beautiful especially at 2:06 when the horns hit. Oh god now I need to go listen to it again-
(I had whole theories that Successor would be used for Armin in the finale, but those turned into clown theories thanks mappa)
(a *few*) Other absolute favourites are: counter attack m'aenkaind, eye-water, Barricades, SymphonicSuite Part 2-2nd ShingekiNoKyojin, From You 2000 Years Ago, Traitor.
Honestly it's very difficult for me to pick just a few because I listen to the albums on a regular basis. Splinter wolf is so fucking badass for sure! When it came on for the first time in that scene, I had chills weogiwegoeiogiowe!!!!

hello dearest, I hope you’re doing well 🩵
for the aot ask I’ve come with new questions:
15.a) if you could have prevented the death of a single character, which one would it be? (I already know the answer but still 🤣)
15.b) what is your favorite (top 3 if you can’t choose one) soundtrack?
15.c) do you prefer the anime or the manga?
much love to youuu 💓💓
Hi my dearest Dee ✨
I'm fine, even if I barely slept last night. I hope you're doing well too!
<><><><><>
15 a- If you could have prevented the death of a single character, which one would it be?
As you already guessed, I would have saved Hange of course!
Like Erwin died when the answer to his lifelong quest was within his grasp, Hange sacrificed themself before they could explore the outside world, quench their thirst for knowledge, help make people's lives better with new discoveries... I'm fascinated by their intelligence & all those amazing qualities that make them one of the best written characters in SNK, personality-wise. They would have been such an asset in the post war SNK universe.
15 b- What is your favorite (top 3 if you can't choose one) soundtrack?
If it's about the instrumental OST only, those I listen to the most at the moment are:
For the songs with a vocalist, my all-time favourite are:
I can't listen to 'Bauklotze' without crying now obviously 💔
15 c- Do you prefer the anime or the manga?
To be perfectly honest, I read the whole manga only once. I often read a random chapter or a few panels online but I still have to read it again (& it's a pain in the ass because I have the Edition Colossale & every book is f*cking heavy lmao). Besides, the French translation is not very good imo, it missed most of the dialogues' subtleties / nuances :((
Still, the manga panels are amazing, Isayama has a real talent for drawing the facial expressions & making us understand what's going on or feel so many emotions without a single word.
But I love the anime, even if a few things missing or changed kinda rub me the wrong way! The animation is insane (Levi's action scenes are always flawless & omg it's part of why I love the short badass so much!). The music is amazing & epic. The VAs are phenomenal (I only watch the Japanese version with French or English subtitles). It's a f*cking great show!
Just a few words about the scene between Eren & Armin in the last episode. As much as I cannot accept Eren's actions, I still felt sorry & sad for him. But the scene with Armin in the manga was so pathetic it almost swept away my sympathy towards him. Thanks Mappa for fixing this scene, making it a real moment of emotion between soulmate friends, & giving Eren a bit of his humanity back.
So anime it is!
<><><><><>
Thanks for taking the time to send these to me!
Sending much love back ❤️
Have a nice Sunday lovely Dee 😘

Hello lovely! Hope you’re doing well 💕
For the aot asks, bonus questions:
15.a) Was there a scene where you felt sorry for your least favorite character or a character you disliked?
15.b) absolute favorite soundtrack?
15.c) what is your favorite quote?
15.d) what is one aspect of the story that you think could have been handled better?
Hi, my love! ❤️ I always love talking about AoT with you.
15.a) I don’t feel much love for Zeke, you know this. But when we see his hurt at being brainwashed by his parents, when all he wanted was love and time, that hit hard. And then, as he’s leading Eren through Grisha’s memories and he slowly starts to realize the true monster Eren is, man, I felt for him. AND THEN, when Grisha hugs him and apologizes, and Zeke starts crying…I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
15.b) Oh gosh, this is hard, because every OST for each season is amazing. But if you’re making me choose, I’d say the season 3 OST. Hiroyuki Sawano did such a masterful job with the first three seasons, and I feel like everything is culminating here in season three: musically and plot-wise. Most of the Symphonicsuites are my favorites.
15.c) There are so many good quotes from AoT, but the one that stays with me the most is when Kenny said, as he was dying, “everybody i have met .. was all the same. drinking, women, worshiping god, even the king ... dreams .. children .. power. Everyone had to be drunk on something to keep pushing on ... Everyone was a slave to something.”
If that ain’t a perfect description of the human condition then I don’t know what is.
15.d) Honestly, I don’t have an opinion on this. I mean, sure, I’d love to know more backstories and had some parts fleshed out more, but I think Isayama focused on the main story and wrote it well, from beginning to end. Yes, I actually think the ending is good. :-)
I asked my husband this question, as we’re re-watching the series and are on S4 now, and he said, “more tiddies.” Joking, of course, but now that he mentions it…. 😂

Edvard Grieg Sigurd Jorsalfar, Suite Op 56
Tumblr media
https://rumble.com/v1y06ng-edvard-grieg-sigurd-jorsalfar-suite-op-56.html?mref=17947j&mc=9fatg
Prague Symphony Orchestra, conductor: Vaclav Smetacek "Edvard Grieg Sigurd Jorsalfar, Suite Op. 56" is a captivating musical composition that showcases the talent and creativity of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Edvard Grieg, born in 1843, is widely regarded as one of Norway's greatest composers. Known for his nationalistic and romantic compositions, Grieg's music often drew inspiration from Norwegian folk traditions and landscapes. His works played a pivotal role in establishing a distinct Norwegian musical identity. "Sigurd Jorsalfar" is a three-movement symphonic suite composed by Edvard Grieg. The suite is based on the play of the same name by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, which tells the story of the Norwegian king Sigurd I, known as Jorsalfar or "the Crusader." a. Introduction (In the King's Hall): The suite begins with a majestic and regal introduction, evoking the atmosphere of a grand hall filled with nobility. Grieg's use of rich harmonies and grand orchestrations sets the stage for the heroic journey that unfolds throughout the suite. b. Borghild's Dream: The second movement, "Borghild's Dream," is a lyrical and introspective piece that showcases Grieg's ability to create delicate and poignant melodies. The music reflects Borghild's dream as she envisions Sigurd's triumphs and the challenges he will face on his journey. c. Homage March: The final movement, "Homage March," is a triumphant and celebratory piece. It represents Sigurd's victorious return to Norway and the homage paid to him by his subjects. Grieg's use of stirring melodies, rhythmic drive, and powerful orchestration creates a sense of pride and nationalistic fervor. "Sigurd Jorsalfar" is a prime example of Grieg's commitment to incorporating Norwegian folk elements into his compositions. Throughout the suite, Grieg weaves traditional Norwegian melodies and rhythms, infusing the music with a distinct nationalistic flavor. The result is a composition that captures the spirit and essence of Norway's cultural heritage. "Sigurd Jorsalfar" holds great significance both within Grieg's body of work and in the realm of classical music. Grieg's ability to merge elements of Norwegian folklore and nationalistic sentiments with his own unique compositional style showcases his mastery as a composer. The suite remains beloved by audiences for its evocative melodies, emotional depth, and its representation of Norway's rich cultural heritage. "Edvard Grieg Sigurd Jorsalfar, Suite Op. 56" is a testament to the brilliance and innovation of Edvard Grieg as a composer. Through this composition, Grieg successfully captures the heroic journey of Sigurd Jorsalfar, infusing the music with Norwegian folk elements and nationalistic fervor. The suite stands as a testament to Grieg's enduring legacy, showcasing his ability to create evocative melodies and transport listeners to the landscapes and traditions of Norway. "Sigurd Jorsalfar" remains a beloved and significant work within the realm of classical music, captivating audiences with its beauty and cultural significance.

Why this theme belongs to Armin
(well, imo anyway? Lemme obsess okay it's all I've listened to for 3 months straight)
Alright, so this theme hasn't been used in Season 4 so far. Not in Part 1, 2 or even 3 (I have gone through P3 again and again but didn't seem to hear this anywhere, but if anybody knows better, please tell).
Which means it will be used in P4. For what scene we can only speculate. Some say it will be used when Falco makes his entrance with Annie and Gabi.
The theme immediately before this one is Guilty Hero, which was used when Zeke sold out his parents to Marley. Now, Guilty Hero is sad, tragic, hopeless, filled with regrets - you get the feeling of 'I know I made the wrong choices but I was only trying to be a Hero'. The Successor, coming immediately afterwards, is loud, grand, majestic, motivational and full of hope.
To me, this theme screams Armin in its entirety. The reason I say that is because Armin is an extremely well written representation of "Hope amongst Despair". What he stands for in SnK is humanity - the trait.
Humans collectively have several different facets. Greed, selfishness, hatred, obsession and so on. For each, there is at least one character in SnK representing them and I'm not gonna get into that for now. But what does Armin represent? Humanity, as in compassion, kindness and understanding. While appearing outwardly weak in terms of physical prowess and being vulnerable to things like self-hatred, self-doubt and low self-esteem, he is strong in his convictions and beliefs in not engaging in bloodshed unless left with no other choice. Strong in his willingness to understand, above all else, before drawing his blades. In SnK's brutally cruel world (that mirrors our own real world in several ways), it is sheer strength and courage to consider your swords and bullets as only a last resort. And if you know how SnK ends, you know what his idea of freedom is. The little beautiful moments that permeate our larger sense of life as a whole.
Armin is a majestic character, and this is, imo, a fact I hope everyone can slowly grow to appreciate over time.
So when I listen to The Successor, I think nothing could suit him better. It starts out in soft grandeur and gently grows in splendour... Optimism, hope, faith and strength swell to the brim and when the horns hit at the 2:08 mark, it overflows. Armin is in a way, really, the "successor" to the story once it ends. The future of the world post rumbling is in what he can make of it, from what his visions entail. So I really think it fits him.
I'm reminded of how in S3, Armin's heroic and brave sacrifice before Bertholdt was amplified by the track SymphonicSuite Part 2-2nd: Shingekinokyojin and my god, was that a MAJESTIC theme!!! So I'm really hoping The Successor is used for Armin in S4 Part4 in some way at least. Regardless, even if I'm wrong, in my heart, this one belongs to Armin Arlert, 15th Commander of the Survey Corps.
