A migrant from another country isn’t automatically a bad person. Far from. Most are just looking for a better life. But some people flee oppression, not least women. How do we help them by letting them come to our country, if we let the oppressors in too? Which is already happening, and would be a guarantee with open borders.

If you lived in Europe, you would know that a lot of the men that have moved here from African and middle eastern countries hold absolutely medieval views on women’s rights. And also on gay rights. There have been gang rapes. Numeous, systematic assaults on women at swimming pools, or just out on the town. Letting in men, and it is almost only men coming, that think that women wearing a skirt, shorts or a bikini and walking outside without male company, are free reign to do what they want to, that has been catastrophic for women’s safety in our countries.

And frankly as a feminist I think that it’s crucial that you understand this. Women don’t have the same rights that we do in the western world in every country of the world. There are entire continents where women don’t have basic rights. And the only way for us to uphold progressive, equalitarian values, is by having borders. Within which we can decide the law, and be protected by our countries laws.

Girl idk how to fucking explain to you that one can recognize male violence is an issue no matter where you go and who it can come from and that currently most nations border policies are actively harmful and inhumane to migrants and those in need of refuge. You sound like such a conservative shithead, you can reframe your argument as much as you'd like to try and hide that you seem frankily very racist and just don't want immigrants in your country, it really doesn't work.

I think about complex shitty situations all the time, for a grade, for my future as an educator. I think you're extremely tone deaf to the idea that nation-states are not actually this amazing praise worthy institution you want to say it is and you repeating it as if western countries are the creme de la creme of morality and the most law abiding people ever is just painful to read. It doesn't automatically equal "progressive, equalitarian values" as it simultaneously kills and abuses thousands of people daily. But idk maybe thats just me :/ you can both want to make sure there's structures in place to protect women from any and all male violence while also wanting to help vulnerable people. I've been very clear and consistent about specifying that I don't dislike Jen Walters and in fact really like how she's portrayed by Tatiana Maslany. Her performance is the only really worthwhile thing the show has to offer, and it's why I find it so frustrating that they don't really do anything interesting with her. Every post I've made has been about the writing or specific narrative choices or the CGI or something to that effect.

As for me "worshipping male characters", whomst??? I'm not even really sure who this is about, as there's not a single male character I've posted about uncritically on here. Best guess is that this is about Matt Murdock, which like... I drag him constantly for being a shitty person and a crappy friend. I think his narrative arc is incredibly compelling and the Netflix series was really good, but I hope I don't need to explain to you that there's a difference between finding a character's narrative compelling and liking them as a person/co-signing their behavior, especially when you also criticize that behavior.

I think a lot of the criticism for she hulk has been bad faith dude bros whining because a woman was in a marvel thing, and that's dumb bullshit, but you can't lump all criticism in the same boat. My problem with she hulk, which is my problem with a lot of marvel's stories centered around women, is that they market them as though they're some groundbreaking feminist storytelling and then do very little to actually develop the story or characters well and coast on mediocrity that's only made passable by the talented women they cast. It's a huge disservice to the characters and to anyone who actually gives a shit about them. I'm not going to applaud them for crumbs, and if you're going to sell your work on it's "feminist storytelling" then you sure as shit better deliver more than a shallow girl power narrative. It's 2022.

Not that anyone actually needs my opinion on the Punk thing, there's more than enough of them on going round rn but imma give it anyway.

That scrum sounded to me like a decade of hurt and frustration bubbling over and I have to say I kinda get it. It really was not the place for it to happen and I honestly think Punk owes everyone at AEW a massive private and public apology and I think he should be fined or suspended, but I do get it. Like, imagine you are the face of this company (which is literally what he is as champion) and the people who helped create the company are talking shit about you to the people you work with and more importantly, that information is being leaked to the 'press' and giving you a bad name. I would want to set the record straight as well, and yeah Punk is an asshole, he always has been, it's kinda what makes him so great but if history has proven one thing; he's not a liar.

That being said, I don't think the elite are lying either. I think they have information from the person on the otherside of this fued that might not be entirely factual and they believe they are just defending a friend. I think this is especially the case for Hangman, he does actually seem like a pretty genuine lad. The Bucks are pretty famous for basically being NWO 2.0 when it comes to looking after their own, for the good and the bad, and they are notorious agitators, which is honestly why they are so great and why we kinda love them.

This whole thing seems to have really started a Punk vs Elite thing privately that has been simmering away for a year and I do find it very interesting to see who came out against Punk, it seems to be mostly people who have very little history with him and much more with the other guy. I would not be surprised to see Punk come out as the "good guy" once this all calms down in a few weeks/months honestly.

I just hope that something that genuinely seems like a legit miscommunication can be sorted out. Also Tony deserves an award for having to sit through that. Also if Nick didn't want to get punched in the face, he shouldn't have done that to his beard lmao.
