The Rami Malek movie The Amateur from 20th Century Studios takes the old date of Deadpool 3, that being November 8, 2024. The pic, directed by James Hawes, follows a CIA cryptographer who, after his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them. When it becomes clear they won’t act due to conflicting internal priorities, he blackmails the agency into training him and letting him go after them himself.

‘Thunderbolts’, ‘Blade’, ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’, ‘Secret Wars’ Among Disney Release Date Changes Due To WGA Strike
It feels like Covid all over again, but it’s not. Disney has just made a slew of release-date changes, many due to the impact of the WGA strike and screenplays not being ready and productions paused.
We already know that Thunderbolts and Blade are waiting the strike out before rolling cameras. Scripts aren’t fully ready in regards to the new Avengers movies. Avengers: Kang Dynasty goes from May 2, 2025, to May 1, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is also pushed another year from May 1, 2026, to May 7, 2027.
We told you that 2023 largely was safe in regards to staying intact (knock on wood), but the ramifications of the writers strike and productions paused will be felt throughout 2024 and beyond. Commence the great release-date shuffle by the motion picture studios.
Also the other delay here with the MCU titles is that Disney wants to make sure they’re better — better than what they’ve been doing from script stage to VFX in the wake of fan pans and lower post-pandemic box office results for such films as Eternals, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love & Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
First major change is that the untitled Deadpool movie will fire off next summer, May 3, while Captain America: Brave New World, gets pushed to July 26, 2024. Thunderbolts stays in 2024, moving off July 26 to December 20. Deadpool 3, in a vote of confidence moves up from Nov. 8, 2024.
Blade goes from September 6, 2024, to Feb. 14, 2025 — that Valentine’s Day/near Presidents Day frame which has been a sweet spot for MCU.
Fantastic Four shifts deeper into 2025, from February 14 to May 2.
Avatar 3 officially is delayed a year from December 20, 2024, to December 19, 2025. Which thus pushes other sequels from James Cameron as Avatar 4 shifts from December 18, 2026, to December 21, 2029, and Avatar 5 goes from December 22, 2028, to December 19, 2031. While these scripts already are locked, the shift of movies due to the WGA strike is pushing the Avatar sequels around. Producer Jon Landau said the following today about the moves:
Tumblr media
The Star Wars movies, which still are being baked, are getting kicked down the road like cans: One of them goes from December 19, 2025, to May 22, 2026. A another untitled one gets added on December 18, 2026.
The new live-action Moana movie with Dwayne Johnson has staked out the summer date of June 27, 2025, about a week earlier from its previous July 2 date.
The new Alien movie, which is shooting overseas, takes the Disney RSVP date of August 16, 2024.
Disney also has RSVP’d the following dates for untitled films: September 6, 2024; March 21, 2025 (instead of April 11, 2025); a Marvel movie for July 25, 2025; August 8, 2025 (instead of August 15 that year); and an MCU title on November 7, 2025. A Disney movie that was set for May 22, 2026, has been removed from the schedule.

Remember when we learned when The Amateur would be released?

This weekend’s MCU developments, fresh out of Comic-Con and on DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE's massive opening weekend, seem to indicate that Disney's trying to make the year 2026 - as I've mentioned before - into their proverbial next 2019.
A repeat of a year where they just dominated with billion dollar smashes, with few valleys in-between... They made *bank* with CAPTAIN MARVEL, AVENGERS: ENDGAME, ALADDIN, TOY STORY 4, THE LION KING, FROZEN II, and STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER.
Of course, that was a rare occasion where the planets pretty much aligned for them... CAPTAIN MARVEL directly preceded ENDGAME, and of course ENDGAME was the big climax to the entire "Infinity Saga" of the MCU: Three phases, 11 years of movies, all down to that one big battle. ALADDIN and LION KING were remakes of some of Disney's most iconic and beloved animated films. TOY STORY 4, following up the huge smash that was TOY STORY 3 by almost a decade, almost as long of a wait between 2 & 3. FROZEN II, sequel to their animated phenomenon. RISE OF SKYWALKER was the end of the entire Skywalker Saga, 9 movies across five decades...
I think they keep wanting to recreate that, even though the 2020s are a much different time from this past decade, and some of those "brands" are now kinda stale...
So they revealed at Comic-Con that AVENGERS 5 has dropped the Kang stuff altogether, the Russo Brothers have returned to direct (along with SECRET WARS, arriving 2027), Dr. Doom is now the main villain and is played by none other than Robert Downey Jr., and it's called AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY. A lot of fans, from what I understand, are very mixed on this. Some feel it's desperation at this point, after their Kang/multiverse plans for phases 4-6 just didn't seem to pan out, and arguably weren't planned too well in advance - Majors accusations or no Majors accusations. So, go to an iconic villain who has been portrayed in live-action before, and get the beloved actor who played Tony Stark to make his grand return as this all-time Marvel villain that could very well be a thinly-written portrayal that strips the character of what makes him compelling and richly-written in the comics... Maybe, we don't know, the movie's far from being done... But the announcement definitely caught me off guard.
But yeah, add that to 2026... A year with, tentatively, two new STAR WARS movies: THE MANDALORIAN & GROGU, and an untitled movie about Rey 15 years after the events of RISE OF SKYWALKER. Familiar faces. Also TOY STORY 5. And a live-action remake of the beloved MOANA... Though, somewhat differentiating 2026 from 2019 is the possibility of new original movies from the two animation studios: A Pixar in the spring, and a WDAS in the autumn. In 2019, both studios only offered up sequels. There are a couple other slots Disney has for 2026 as well, which will likely go to some 20th Century/Searchlight movies. 2019 was when Disney finished their acquisition of 20th Century, and... The line-up that year was either movies they didn't give a damn about, or just didn't cut it. That was the year of... DARK PHOENIX, STUBER, THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN... Movies that didn't get greenlit under Disney's watch, but these 2026 movies will be, so maybe those will do better for them.
So yes, I can kinda tell that Iger's Disney is still chasing that 2019 high. Surefire hits based on old favorites, but I think in the case of the MCU, it really isn't - say - 2017 anymore. Announce both DOOMSDAY and SECRET WARS back then, and the roof is blown off the joint. But we're in 2024 now, and while Deadpool teaming up with Hugh Jackman's iconic go as Wolverine is expectedly doing amazing business, Captain Marvel joining forces with Ms. Marvel and Rambeau (two characters largely established in two Disney+ shows) did horribly, as did a third Ant-Man movie. CAPTAIN AMERICA 4 without Chris Evans, this THUNDERBOLTS* thing, and another go at Marvel's First Family could reverse this, maybe not... Tellingly, BLADE - still ostensibly scheduled for November of next year - didn't get a mention at all during the presentation. We know it has been held up, that they just can't seem to crack what was already done w/o pools full of Disney money back in the 1990s... Maybe it goes to show that something as neat as Blade falls apart when you try to force it into the fractured framework of the MCU. BLADE would've had a much easier time, I feel, if it were being developed during the first two phases w/o Ike Perlmutter around.
I guess at this point, it either opens in fall 2026 after DOOMSDAY releases, or it'll debut after SECRET WARS. I don't know anymore. The MCU was certainly imperfect from the word-go, but the character interactions and dynamics, the fun soap opera-like tricks, and often memorable moments got us through the big tangle of it all. The novelty of this big cinematic universe with all these characters from multiple movies crossing over was just such a real novelty circa 2010-2019, it was done on a scale that no one really saw beforehand. But that has now worn off, what with many of the OGs having died or left. It's not too late to reinvent it, and go a new direction after SECRET WARS. One that doesn't recreate what came before.
I think audiences have gravitated towards that kind of superhero movie now... The likes of the SPIDER-VERSE movies, THE BATMAN, etc. Both a handful of recent MCUs and the last of the old DC movie-verse films largely got rejected, so the tricks of the 2010s no longer work. It's about personal stakes and distinct style and a vision now. Unless it's a pre-established portrayal of a character that audiences love (like Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Jackman's Wolverine), you gotta be more than just a garden variety CG spectacle. It's why I'm curious as to how James Gunn and Peter Safran will launch the live-action end of their new DC Universe. Do SUPERMAN, SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW, THE AUTHORITY, BRAVE AND THE BOLD, etc. all stand out on their own? Or do they feel like episodes with little to no visual/storytelling differences?
Either Marvel Studios are onto something, or this is some last-ditch attempt to drum up a lot of interest again and make the end of Phase 5 and all of Phase 6 flop-less. Less MARVELS, more GUARDIANS/DEADPOOL 3-sized stuff.
What caught **my** interest the most were the details revealed about their new Fantastic Four film, now titled THE FANTASTIC 4: FIRST STEPS. Continuing their little way of differentiating their movies from the adaptations that came before. Fantastic Four already had two* iterations (*not counting the unreleased 1994 Roger Corman film), the 2005 movie was called FANTASTIC FOUR, as was the 2015 movie, though everyone calls it FANT4STIC. This tells you it's the Marvel Studios MCU F4 movie! Just like how their Hulk movie was THE INCREDIBLE HULK, five years after the release of the 2003 movie HULK. And how their first Spider-Man solo movie added the subtitle HOMECOMING. Also, it's like we get an F4 every 10 years now. The Tim Story-directed movie with Chris Evans in 2005, the next version in 2015, and now this version. Next year. 2025.
It had been teased that this film would have a more '60s flavor to it, which always made sense, given that the Fantastic Four debuted in the early 1960s and directly correlated with space age exploration. The setting of this film is described as a sort-of '60s retro future, and the first look at it certainly confirms it... And what's more, Michael Giacchino is doing the score.
This is literally THE INCREDIBLES!
I remember for many years, some people joked that they didn't need to make a "good" Fantastic Four movie. One already existed: THE INCREDIBLES. And of course, THE INCREDIBLES is highly inspired by the same space age aesthetics that inform the original F4 comics and most superhero/sci-fi stuff of that era. They both have stretchy and invisible characters. And Giacchino did the score for that film. Brad Bird grew up during that period, and it's all over his animated classic. Tim Story's FANTASTIC FOUR was in post-production when THE INCREDIBLES came out, and he had made changes to his movie, fearing similarities that were always inevitable.
So maybe this 2025 movie, part of the MCU, finally works. That Marvel's First Family finally works as a live-action movie, and can stand on its own in a world where an amazing animated equivalent exists. Matt Shakman directs, who helmed WANDAVISION, which had three episodes heavily patterned after sitcoms made in the '50s, '60s, and '70s, so maybe I'll quite like this movie. It's the one future MCU movie, outside of BLADE, that actually has my interest.

So I stumbled on to the fandom wiki page dedicated to upcoming Marvel movies and series, and rumoured Marvel movies and series, and I ended up looking through all the places our sweet raccoon boy might make an appearance. Do note I'm just going for cosmic and maybe cosmic movies.
The Marvels (Doubtful RR will make an appearance, maaaybe a video call for checking up on things on Rocket's side of the galaxy)
Deadpool 3 (Doubtfull RR will make an appearance, but you never know about Deadpool, he actually did have a team up comic with RR once, so Deadpool just mentioning the words "talking raccoon" would be enough for me)
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty (doubtful RR will make an appearance, Kang just doesn't seem as galactic menacing as Thanos, might end up just being Loki level threat that just current Avengers would be able to handle.)
Loki Season 2 (I honestly hope they would have just like a 5 second background cameo of him as Loki jumps through portals, but highly doubtful, apparently the writers were given strict instructions on which Marvel characters they may use in the show.)
Marvel Zombies (I want to see the Guardians fight zombies, but the zombie virus might just stay on Earth. )
Nova (The Guardians or just Rocket giving Nova the guided tour of Knowhere would be fun, but think this will stick to just Earth, Nova Corps, Xandar and some space fights away from Guardians.)
Silver Surfer (Highly doubtful RR will make an appearance, but one can always hope the Guardians will be around when Galactus is a threat.)
Rumoured (Take the following with a grain of salt, the following is the most rumoured of them all)
Adam Warlock (RR will definitely appear if this movie ever happens)
Celestials: End Of Time (Sequel to Eternals, highly doubtful RR will appear, might just focus on Earth with some cosmic moments here and there. At least we might see Patton Oswalt as Pip the Troll again.)
Hercules (Doubtful RR will appear, but Hercules might drop in with the Guardians in his vengeance against Thor. Might just be Earth focused.)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.4 (Ha! No way that's ever going to happen without Gunn at the helm. He'll be way too busy wrangling the new DCEU over at WB. One can only hope.)
Thor 5 (Doubtful, unless if Thor checks up on his favourite rabbit and needs help with Love)
World War Hulk (Doubtful the Guardians would make an appearance, most likely is them just giving people a lift off of the war torn planet. Mind you, having Rocket help Hulk would be a fantastic way to wink at the comic)
Gamora & The Ravagers (Definite RR cameo if this ever happens)
Howard the Duck (Definite RR cameo, just to drop Howard off at Earth if this ever happens, which I really really hope for)
Legendary Star-Lord (Rumours of a movie or series with Star-Lord and Shadowcat, doubtful, but would be fun to watch if it ever happens, and definitely must have a Rocket appearance if it)
Mantis (If we get a Mantis movie where she becomes more like her comic counterpart, then a RR cameo would be greatly appreciated)
Untitled Rocket Raccoon & Groot Series (This rumour started way back when Gunn was taken off GotG 3, so insanely doubtful this show would happen. However that being said, I would gladly welcome a Rocket Raccoon & Groot series focused on them pre-GotG, live action or just animated, preferably still within the MCU)
Untitled Sif Series ( If this happens, we just need a Rocket cameo to give her a new arm, that's it.)

He's the best there is at what he does, bub — and what Hugh Jackman does is play more than one Wolverine. After starring with Ryan Reynolds in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine — and later retiring the role in 2017's Logan — the longtime X-Men star will re-team with Reynolds in Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3. The as-yet-untitled Deadpool sequel is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse Saga, which saw Jackman's franchise co-star Patrick Stewart reprise the Professor X role as a multiversal variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In a new interview with France's La Parisien, Jackman described his Marvel return as a "dual role," suggesting a Wolverine variant. He previously played the ex-X-Man and his feral clone, named X-24, in Logan. "Ryan and I have been friends for twenty years; we have a lot of fun together. We are filming this summer," Jackman said. "That's why I'm so happy to be in Paris right now and to be able to enjoy French gastronomy. Because very soon, I'm going to have to put myself on a strict diet to remake my Wolverine body: steamed chicken and broccoli!" In a previous appearance on the Empire Film Podcast, Jackman revealed Wolverine and Deadpool's dynamic: hate. "How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we're zero. We're opposites, hate each other," Jackman teased. "I'm just talking from my perspective. [Logan's] frustrated by him, wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can't be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I'm probably going to punch him in the head a lot." ⚡️🍿🍿🍿 #comiccon #spoilermagazine #news #losangeles #podcast #magazine #art #instagram #galaxy #film #tv #hollywood #feature #movies #fandom #graphicdesign #nyc #spoiler #comicconradio #comicbooks #wolverine #hughjackman #marvelcomics #deadpool (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpbsMeDLglY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Wazzu Halloween get spooky on the palouse 2022 shirt
Tumblr media
Marvel Studios' Phase 4 Wazzu Halloween get spooky on the palouse 2022 shirt . has been all about bringing new heroes into the fold, and among the most popular new heroes was Simu Liu's Shang-Chi. Coming from director Destin Daniel Cretton, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was a major factor in resurrecting theaters during the pandemic, and the martial arts flick was an instant hit, making a sequel as inevitable as Thanos. The director has since moved up the ranks at Marvel Studios, with two Disney+ projects in the works - the "Hollywood satire" Wonder Man and a Ten Rings-centric spin-off to Shang-Chi. Furthermore, Cretton was given the top job of directing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, following in the footsteps of Joss Whedon and the Russo brothers.Wazzu Halloween get spooky on the palouse 2022 shirt, hoodie, sweater, longsleeve and ladies t-shirt

Classic Men's So, with so much on Cretton's plate already, there remains no official news on when Shang-Chi 2 will release after it was omitted from the slate for the rest of the Multiverse Saga Wazzu Halloween get spooky on the palouse 2022 shirt . As the wait continues for news on the sequel with Marvel Studios' D23 presentation set for next month, when will Shang-Chi 2 be released? Even after Kevin Feige revealed the entire Phase 5 slate, there was still one of Marvel Studios' untitled release dates left on the schedule on February 16, 2024. Many may see this as an opportunity for Shang-Chi 2 to slot into the picture, but as Deadpool 3 appears to be further along in development and nearing filming without a release date, this ought to go to the Merc with the Mouth. Moving into 2025 and Phase 6, Marvel Studios has dates still penciled in around Fantastic Four, The Kang Dynasty, and Secret Wars - these being February 14 and July 25. These are both strong contenders for Shang-Chi 2, but there is one obstacle that could greatly affect the sequel. In addition to keeping up w/ animated movie release date changes, I also like to keep up with the Mouse House specifically...
Disney recently removed an untitled film (whoever was doing one, Disney Pictures themselves or 20th Century/Searchlight) set for 9/6/2024... And added KINDS OF KINDNESS, from POOR THINGS director Yorgos Lanthimos... With Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe starring in it, no less. Comes out June 21, 2024, the same day as the movie they let go of - THE BIKERIDERS, now a Focus release - debuts.
This thing has been in the can since late 2022. POOR THINGS was filmed from mid-to-late 2021. So, a release date locked this close shouldn't matter. I'd imagine it cost more or less what POOR THINGS cost to make.
So it looks like, three months into the year, Disney's 2024 slate is currently complete:
04/05: THE FIRST OMEN (20th Century)
05/10: KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (20th Century)
05/31: YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA (Disney)
06/14: INSIDE OUT 2 (Pixar)
06/21: KINDS OF KINDNESS (Searchlight)
07/26: DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE (Marvel)
08/16: ALIEN: ROMULUS (20th Century)
11/08: THE AMATEUR (20th Century)
11/27: MOANA 2 (Disney Animation)
12/20: MUFASA: THE LION KING (Disney)
I quite like this slate. Some 20th Century/Searchlight titles, a smaller-scale Disney live-action for once (YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA, which was originally supposed to be a straight-to-D+ movie), only one Marvel movie mixed with some franchise favorites. The more the smaller stuff balances out the biggies, the better. We may or may not get there, what with the new head of Disney Live-Action being the former Searchlight head.
I can imagine Disney's 2025 changing radically as well in the coming months, as that year still has *four* Marvel movies, and some random untitleds (such as one that moved from August 2025 to October 2025). TRON: ARES has been filming, so that likely nabs one of the summer season dates that the studio has right now. MOANA Live-Action is nowhere near ready for next summer, so I think that's getting moved back to 2026. Plus, opening a MOANA remake so soon after the release of the original animated movie's sequel is silly. That thing was only announced to whet the appetites of shareholders anyways, so giving it a date was a little hasty.
I assume SNOW WHITE (which had been delayed from *this* March all the way to March 2025) and AVATAR 3 stay where they are, ZOOTOPIA 2 could be a mover depending on what's going on with Suzi Yoonessi's Disney Animation film. If that's being made in Burbank right now while MOANA 2 is being made in Vancouver, maybe it could... I dunno... Possibly debut in late winter/early spring 2025? Perhaps fill that undetermined 3/7/2025 slot? Just a hunch.
We'll see how it all plays out...

“Untitled Deadpool Sequel” Trailer Has Meta Level Fun in Introducing Cable
youtube
The R-rated action comedy franchise, Deadpool, that centers its humor on making fun of itself shows no signs of slowing down in the sequel.
While introducing a much more traditional looking and sounding character, Cable, this time around, Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds do their diligence in adding their trademark hijinks throughout the trailer.
On top of that, it would seem that Deadpool also wrote the description to the movie:
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry's hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor - finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World's Best Lover.
Also, it was made sure that the main billing reads:
Director: Unconfirmed Writers: Unconfirmed Actors: Unconfirmed
Needless to say, you should look forward to May 18th when the Untitled Deadpool Sequel hits theaters.
