something about the night changing
watching the guess that build videos made me so nostalgic for the old build swap videos, I almost started crying
click on the picture for better quality, I think Tumblr has really butchered it this time
(also if you submitted a writing ask, those will start to happen tomorrow, today has been really emotionally exhausting and I haven't had the energy to write anything, but I will get started on those soon!)

Fuck, I was not ready.
I knew this was coming. I knew we'd eventually have to see what John did to become God, and I knew by all the rules of necromancy we've seen established it had to involve mass death. I was ready for that. What I wasn't ready for is how pointless, how empty it all felt.
It wasn't on purpose. It wasn't the culmination of a grand plan. It wasn't John's twisted idea of a way to save humanity. It was just a fucking tantrum.
That's what did humanity in. A man who stumbled his way into godhood while at the same time mentally regressing to the state of a child smashing his toys in frustration. He didn't even try to use his newfound powers to help humanity in any meaningful way. No, all he cared about from day 1 was stopping the Bad People and making them pay, and when the chips were down, that was more important to him than every single innocent life in the world. How does someone get to that point, to become a being of pure hatred? I hope I never fucking find out.
But like. Okay. We've all lashed out in anger and done things we've regretted because of it. Not to that extent, but hey, most of us never had the chance to trigger a nuke in order to absorb the souls of the dead and use them to fuel our vengeance. It's horrible, but I can comprehend it. No, what really breaks me is knowing now that what he did after all that was to make himself out as humanity's savior and build a theocratic empire out of it. After doing what he did, it was still time to realize he messed up, try to rebuild a better, freer, more prosperous and socially conscious humanity. He had more power over humanity's future than any person had ever had, and more knowledge of the mistakes to avoid than most. And he did make it better in some ways (@mayasaura has really impressed on me how much he did away with gender oppression, which is no small feat!), but in other ways he made it worse?? Or at least worse than anyone knowing what he did had any right to. And he is still chasing that fucking FTL ship - after all this time, long after anyone is left to give a shit, still driven by his spite and hatred, still hurting innocent people to satiate them.
And Alecto still loves him. I don't know what to say to that. She's a bigger woman/planet/ghost/doll/whatever than I am. I don't know what I feel about John anymore. Hate? Pity? Disgust? Fear? Nothing feels quite right. I know the narrative has something more interesting in store for him than retributive "justice" (it better have, since the obsession with retribution is precisely what got us into this mess in the first place) and it kills me that AtN is still not out so who knows how long it'll take until we find out. I just want the pain to stop.

No, Pac-Kong isn't a clever mix of Pac-Man and Donkey Kong; it stands as one of the worst rip-offs of the latter that I've ever played, by a considerable margin. Even after all these years, the meaning behind the "pac" in the title remains a mystery to me. While forgiving the simplistic graphics — expected for an Atari 2600 game, the console's charm lays in its titles' gameplay, not in their visual appeal - the evident deficiencies in this game are inexcusable..
At the apex of the tower lurks an Octopus (though it resembles more a giant yellow bat) hurling bananas (or bat-like creatures) at our hero. Dodging these bats or airborne bananas presents a challenge; they never cease movement and sway in a manner that makes you struggle to discern when you've been hit until you lose a life - The feeling of "it wasn't even close" prevails often.
The most infuriating aspect emerges when jumping between platforms separated by gaping chasms. Precise timing is imperative; pressing the button when our hero's last foot grazes the platform's edge is the only way forward. It's an exasperating exercise, leading to countless instances where apparent success is swiftly followed by a plummet to failure.
Somehow, I managed to clear the first loop (just two stages) without any deaths, but the sheer frustration led me to opt-out. Continuing seemed pointless unless I was seeking a nervous breakdown.
