TMayNT Day 16: Favourite Episode.

So I can't actually think of ONE favourite episode but I think that ep "The Evil League of Mutants" is a really great example of everything I love about the show and a little underrated. It has so much creativity, awesome animation/fight scenes, wholesome family moments and some great laughs. I feel like you can REALLY see where the show was going with this ep.

I tried to encapsulate as many of these aspects of the episode into one picture as I could while having them be clear/distinct (as not to be overwhelming to look at) but also look like they're connected.

Still messing around with some new stuff on my desktop with my itty bitty wacom.

But no seriously, I had to go all out for this piece because I LOVE this episode. It literally changed my life when I was but a wee elementary schooler. It’s also the reason I have such a huge love for apocalypse/time travel stories and made the rottmnt movie so special to me. I wish we had gotten more time in this universe, but thankfully as the fandom does, we have made LOTS of content to fill any gaps.

T-May-NT Day 16: Favorite Episode

OK, THIS WAS A HARD CHOICE because, favorite episode?? Of any TMNT canon??? That's a tall order and I had so so many that I debated picking... however, there's one episode that I would always choose to watch as a kid, one that I still adore to this day, so I stuck with it without thinking too much about all of the other choices I could make because then I would never be able to pick just one.

Turtles in Space (Part 3): The Big House, from TMNT 2003! One of my favorite episodes of all time, there are just so many little moments from it that made it a childhood favorite, and it still holds up so well rewatching it now <3

For some of my out-of-order favorite moments in this episode along with some of my ramblings, see below the cut!

I absolutely love Don's dorky little salute here; sweetheart you just got captured by aliens after surviving the vacuum of space, I don't think they're looking for a salute.

And then the fact that after the triceraton pushes Don both Leo and Raph immediately jump forward to defend him? PERFECTION, I love how protective those two are!!

"FLOOR WAX???" haha I thought that was so gross as a kid

These shock things are only used like twice in this whole episode. Guess who got it both times? So fitting for his character, honestly I love it.

*Giant muscled alien bully walks through the cafeteria* Raph (immediately): I'm gonna fight that guy Don (who already knows its inevitable): RAPH NO--

That's not exactly how it went but also yeah that's basically how it went

Also "green guy green guy!!" always cracked me up for no good reason

"I got a rock?" *visible brother judgement*

Also though this whole sequence shows all of the turtles so perfectly. The fact that they all looked at each other, knowing that they had all (well almost all) started thinking through and working out an escape plan, and then the subsequent way that they were each using something they brought to the table to form a plan (Raph timing the door, Don figuring out the smoke bomb, Leo putting it all together)? All so well done, I love this scene.

Speaking of which:

The fact that Don took one look at the floor wax through Mikey's vomit and said "I'm gonna make a bomb with a bit of dirt" is so hilarious to me. His little "I love it when I'm right" is also adorable.

Don't think I'm hating on Mikey, he was just waiting for his moment to shine! Seriously without him swiping that keycard they would have been toast.

The fact that the two idiots in the back literally forgot to make sure that their own plan was going to be carried out like come on guys

This moment.

And of course "SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS!!!"

I love this episode a lot, there's a whole lot more that I love from it but I digress; good episode.

I couldn't pick a favorite episode but this one is a big topper! It's so cute!!! They're sick in the entire episode and they're all such babies I love it.

It was hard to pick just one episode to do. But TMNT (2003) Season 3 Episode 11: The Lesson is one I love because I love stories where we find out that the characters actually met each other as kids. And the fact that the turtles tried to teach Casey how to fight (someone who is older than them) while switching turns of who is doing the teaching without actually talking to each other about what they've taught so far is very funny to me.

I thought about also doing the Battle Nexus Arc from 2003 because I really like those episodes too, also 1987's "Pizza by the Shred" (Michelangelo accidentally ends up working for Shredder as a delivery boy who is trying to catch the turtles with pizza) and "Cowabunga Shredder" (Thanks to plans gone awry, Shredder ends up with Michelangelo's personality) because they're absolutely hilarious to me lol

TMayNT Day 16!! My favorite episode is probably the mystic library episode with the snow day episode coming in second place (both from ROTTMNT) I just find them to both be funny. I also just love how wholesome the snow day episode is, by the way.. DID Y'ALL HEAR JUST HOW WELL APRIL'S VOICE ACTOR SANG?? SHE HAS AN AMAZING VOICE!

The episode "Lone rat and cubs" is very special to me, the interaction between the turtle tots is cute, the character development too, and I think almost no one knows but this ep was written by Kevin Eastman, which makes the episode even more special

I wanted to do something special but I haven't been feeling very well these last few days
