You're not imagining things - they had Derek's eyes transition from a blue glow to a red glow
Alpha Derek is confirmed
S4 death = evolved to full wolf shift Movie death = evolved back to an alpha
Or were the alpha eyes always there, just dimmer and hidden by the bright blue?
Regardless, he didn't stay dead in S4 so why should he now. The question is, WHERE is he? We don't actually see him when he's dead. There's no body and no ash left behind, he just vanishes in that ball of fire like he was teleported.
-------------
There were tons of hints about death not being the end and characters being able to come back so they're clearly leaving that possibility open.
Allison died and was cremated (fire) then resurrected 15 years later, appearing naked in the woods. Derek sacrificed himself to get rid of the nogitsune and went up in a ball of flames (fire), is he going to appear naked in the woods next?
Peter calling Stiles: "So my nephew went and died, again… want to help me bring him back?" Stiles: "I was wondering why he showed up naked outside my house. Did you know he's an alpha again?" Peter: "Oh, well that makes things easier"
Did I mention that Derek sacrificed himself in a spirit realm thing ON THE FUCKING NEMETON. HELLO BIG MAGIC TREE STUMP. BARDO AND JACOB'S LADDER ARE VERY MUCH PRESENT. Not to mention Jennifer used it to revive herself...
A line from before about people who are supposed to be dead not being dead (cough Allison, Peter, etc)
Sheriff Stilinski telling Eli that Derek was like the jeep, beaten up more than anyone and still surviving. Stiles had left his jeep because it died then Derek brought it back to life for sentimental reasons because STEREK. He ends the metaphor with until one day Derek couldn't or something like that but the jeep is still there and Eli should keep it running. EXCEPT by his own metaphor, Derek is like the apparently dead jeep and can still be brought back to life.
Oh, and Lydia broke up with Stiles a while back in order to stop her banshee screams from predicting Stiles's death. Also no mention of Eli's mother so both Stiles and Derek are confirmed to be single.
Did I miss anything? I'm not sure.
TLDR
Derek ends up being THE big hero of the movie, easily a thousand times more of a hero than Scott could ever be, they're making it very clear that characters don't stay dead in Beacon Hills, Derek would be an alpha if he comes back, Stiles and Derek are single, and Derek is still showing his feelings for Stiles by keeping the jeep running.
It's a super easy setup for if there's another movie and if they can get Hoechlin and/or Dylan in.
Even if that doesn't happen, they've made fix-it fics super easy to write.

The Winchesters Pilot - What do we know about the box? Was that Samuel Campbell at the beginning?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The paper Mary found describes a magical box and says:
Follow the path of 1 toward Heaven. Second spot is four less seven Find the forth behind Hells door, Six suns set on the Western floor I will always lead you here, Ending the darkness that we all fear
My first thought was THE EMPTY - and I Screamed. but once I calmed down I started thinking dimensions and the Acreda. there are also strong Amara vibes I am choosing to ignore.
We have seen a demon get sucked inside, into this tiny box. So either it's a trap or it's a door. If it's a door I would expect it goes to another dimension.
Either way - what happens if a person we care about at some point gets sucked into the box too? 🤔 hrmm (don't hurt Lata!)
The MoL locked it up for a reason - which they wouldn't do if this awesome piece of tech was a no downsides monster trap. So maybe it can suck people in or the Acreda can use this to cross over. Per @greatcometcas Akreda is ancient Greek for Locusts and doesn't that just have Vibes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The paper also had these symbols on it, one of which Samuel someone with a bag with the initials S.C. wrote in blood to open the Manhole of Letters at the beginning of the episode. (A bit of digital manipulation and highlighting) I was convinced the symbols would combine together to create the Men of Letters symbol. No such luck yet. Unless we separate them into their base ancient ruins. ...
Started with the assumption that this person was Samuel - possible Tom Welling stand-in notwithstanding - that leads me to some questions.
Apparently the symbol he drew into the dish is called an Odal Rune or an Othala. (thank you @swordofsun!) Unfortunately I know it as a symbol co-opted by nazis, but it's is one of the oldest and most widely used runes in ancient Norse, Germanic, and Anglo-Saxon cultures. It was used for the “o” sound and is symbolic of lineage and genetic inheritance.
So - so I had been assuming this Indiana jones looking man was Samuel Campbell, but is he? I still think that is most likely but it feels like this symbol should have been drawn in MoL legacy blood to open the door. We've seen that before. I'm fine with that being unnecessary, but it would be fun if that meant 1) Samuel had ties to MoL 2) The Campbells have some history with the Acreda or 3) That isn't Samuel.
This is about when @wigglebox asked me if that man looked like Jensen and, now that you mention it.... I don't see bow legs, but it does kind of look like the back of his head? Is this Jensen/Dean? Is this Henry/Gil? Is this just Samuel/Tom? IDK. Someone tell me who this looks like to you, where my hand freaks at?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I want it to be Dean, he's a legacy and it would be a fun twist, but I think Dean would be better able to handle himself and he's wearing a wedding ring so for that to be Dean he'd have to be married to Cas at this point - Which obv means I am fully on board 😂💙💚. Nah, I think it was likely Samuel.
Symbols on the paper (bear with me there are a LOT of interpretations online and I do not know what I'm doing):
MoL Symbol - Unicursal Hexagram associated with symbolic magical, and spiritual connections. "Our crest. The Aquarian Star, representing great magic and power. They say it stood at the gates of Atlantis itself." Combination of 2 Kauną (see below) and an ᚷ? (top right)
Apparently this is a combination rune used for protection - or protection of family. I feel like this looks like it's a combination of the two symbols Inguz - fertility or love and Isa/Isaz - ice or death. ᛝ + ᛁ (Top left)
Raido ? - Journey - combined with the symbol for message / god / odin. AR . Also seeing people referring to this as Energy - getting real "the heroes journey" vibes, Robbie. ᚮ + ᚱ
upside down Othada - apparently the main meaning of a reversed othada is “loss of home”? ᛟ
This one I could not find - the only combination I was able to come up with was a double ᛜ a ᛜᛜ which is an inguz from a different culture. Meaning seed, or energy. Creation. - Maybe the duplicate means destruction / the darkness? Like a reverse? It could just as easily be 2 Othadas doubled back on themselves which would be fun thematically.
Othada / Odal- Heritage/Legacy/genetic inheritance or separation or possession ᛟ
combination of Kauną/Kenaz & Igus ᚲ + ᛜ - getting so many interpretations off of these - Kenaz - love/relationship/fire, Igus seed/energy/creation.
If I didn't know better - and I think I do - I'd think this was about Amara - the elusions to god (reverse) and the darkness. But given what we already know I expect this to be about the Acreda. Mostly I think this is a warning about an interdimensional door. I was clowning for a second when I found an interpretation relating to a journey in time, but I don't think it holds up.
Thank you to @escapingpurgatorypodcast @endofthebookpod & dearly to @deanncastiel for the image source!
I sincerely hope someone who knows better can make some sense of this

i was watching Silverfinger today and noticed how gentle Scott is when he talks to Stiles about the missing key & message. Stiles believes he might have been part of a murder spree, and Scott’s primary response after helping to verify it is to say he doesn’t believe Stiles is that kind of person: “I don't want to sound like I'm trying to tell you that you're wrong... But I don't think you're trying to kill people, either” (3x17).
while that’s a loyal reaction to Stiles regardless, i was struck by how how neatly it builds on their hallucinations. it’s not like Stiles presented this kind of reality-warping situation out of the blue—barely a handful of days ago, Scott, Stiles, and Allison were all imagining things that weren’t there. Allison thought Isaac was Kate. Stiles had confessed he often couldn’t tell if he was awake or not. Scott himself had literally hallucinated murdering someone.
so when Stiles says he saw something and yet all the physical evidence for it has vanished, the natural and kind thing to is simply remind Stiles of his own nature—not a killer. after all, the darkness around their hearts had been attacking their sense of self: Scott’s fear of being like Peter, Allison’s fear of being like Kate, and even Stiles’ fear of being like Claudia (losing his grip on reality).
Stiles is clearly exhausted, reality isn’t matching what he thought it would, and his sense of self is what’s a stake—all of which matches the pattern of the darkness around their hearts.

Just rewatched s5 and Theo trying to gain Scott’s trust by dressing like Stiles in the first few episodes is so interesting to see.
It’s ingenious and it kinda works, although Scott gives him several ambiguous looks in the first few episodes when this happens.
It also makes his focus on Stiles in the later episodes a clear indication of how his priorities have changed. Instead of spending his energy into strengthening his bond with Scott by trying to replace stiles (like he attempts to do in the first few eps by dressing and acting like him) he starts to invest more time into Stiles himself— this suspicious and paranoid guy, who even with his trust gained, won’t really do anything for Theo in regards to the pack. Stiles’ suspicion or faith in Theo doesn’t make a difference to the rest of them unlike with Scott, the literal alpha.
Theo’s plan is clear when he’s trying to gain Scott’s trust— he’s just trying to get a way in with the pack. That’s what he agreed with the doctors, right? But when Theo switches his focus on getting Stiles to trust him… there’s no ulterior motive aside from getting Stiles on his side. And damn, if it isn’t clear how much he wants that.
We can clearly see this change straight after Theo reveals to Stiles that he knows about Donovan. Their screen time doubles. Why this happens… it could be due to Theo witnessing Stiles killing Donovan, maybe he hadn’t expected him to hold his own, it could have been orchestrated from the beginning (like my other post details), it depends on interpretation but anyways the point is—
Theo could’ve easily turned one pack member against him, like I believe he set out on doing in the beginning with the whole clothes thing, and gain the trust of Scott and subsequently, the rest of the pack much quicker but he doesn’t. After Donovan, he kinda loses focus on the rest of the pack and instead focuses on one man, derailing his own plan.

Meta Monday: Elevation
I can’t stop thinking about the elevator scenes in 3a and their relation to Scott’s rise as a true alpha and his relationship with Deucalion.
In Tattoo, Scott is going up in the elevator to rescue Isaac, rising to the need of one of his betas. Something he’s been doing since s1- attempting to rescue his pack instead of killing them when Peter tries to control him in Night School, rescuing Jackson in Co-Captains. But this time it’s more official- he’s Isaac’s emergency werewolf contact.
In this scene, Deucalion meets Scott on his level. Deucalion is assessing Scott’s potential. Will Scott help a blind man? Or will Scott prioritize saving his beta? Scott manages to do both.
Then Scott throws himself into the elevator against Ennis- a fight he cannot possibly win. Throwing himself into fights he can’t possibly win is something Scott will do often- and in so many cases he does win. This time he’s helped by Derek. Scott’s pack rallying behind him will happen time and time again.
The second time Scott meets Deucalion in an elevator is in Frayed.  This time they meet in the middle. While Deucalion goes up, Scott goes down.
Deucalion goads him in the elevator. Perhaps Scott could overtake him. Perhaps not. Fascinating how he’s not afraid. Fear is how most people respond to the alpha of alphas. “You might be afraid of me, but you’re controlling it. Maybe you’d actually rise to the occasion, become an alpha by killing one.”
After the fight in the mall- another fight Scott can’t win- and in this instance doesn’t- Scott goes on a downward spiral. He doesn’t heal, convinced Derek is dead. And that there’s a possibility he’s an alpha in truth, not just theory.
Scott spirals so far downward that he thinks he should kill himself by the end of Motel California.
Even then, Scott is thinking about his pack, putting them first even in his supernaturally influenced haze: “What if doing this is actually the best thing for everyone else?”
The next time Scott is in the elevator is in The Overlooked. This time Deucalion isn’t there to meet him. Deucalion is there to kill Jennifer. Scott is there to rescue Cora, to help his pack.
After they both fail their primary goals, Scott has to take the stairs to meet Deucalion on the hospital roof. Much like when he breaks the mountain ash barrier, Scott has to earn it in order to meet Deucalion on his level.
And it’s when he does that Deucalion makes his final move, his power play.
“If you’d been with me, I could have told you what it meant. I could’ve warned you. Let me help you, Scott. Let’s help each other. You help me catch her, and I’ll help you get your mother and Stiles’s father back.”
At Deucalion’s level, Scott is in over in his head. But throwing himself into a fight he can’t win is nothing new.
And lastly, I feel like it’s important to bring up Derek and Jennifer’s scene in the elevator. During 3a both Scott and Derek are dealing with predatory, obsessive villains that are interested in unlocking their potential.
After Derek’s confrontation with Jennifer, he falls, loses the alpha spark but gains what he’s always wanted all along: a pack.
After Scott’s confrontation with Deucalion, he rises to gain the alpha spark but gains what he never wanted: being an alpha in truth.

what do you think about the lines 'Running every light that came upon them' is it running away from every light or running towards?
Hmmm.. you know at first I thought it was just about running red lights. Like that family drives FAST lololol
But knowing what’s going on I def feel it’s running away from the light. Dean is running from the light (from Cas). He doesn’t want to go yet. He’s not at peace yet.
Cas is calling to him, come home, Dean, your family is waiting for you (at the roadhouse), and I am too. But,
Ohhh you may want me
I ain’t ready to go

Damian didn't mean to. But looking at the horror on Batman's face, he also knows it doesn't matter.
Someone had managed to sneak up on him, immediately after a fight.
Damian, exhausted and wounded and ever so slightly drugged by fear toxin, reacted.
He'd spun around and run his katana through the attacker-but it wasn't an attacker. It was a civilian, who was staring down at the sword in his chest with a stunned expression.
The civilian looked up, blue eyes meeting Damian's through the mask.
"I was just..." The man trails off, dropping the first-aid kid he'd been carrying.
Damian knows his time as Robin is over.
Danny, on the other hand, can already feel his healing factor trying to kick in, and just needs to figure out how to convince Robin to remove the Katana so it can work without letting Batman know he's a meta.

What did I say.

This boy is involved.
(Gil McKinney, who played Henry Winchester on spn and voiced him in The Winchesters pilot, tweets a video of a woman excitedly shouting "here we go! Here the fuck we go." Over the starting sequence of The Winchesters, saying it is his new ringtone.)

That one episode of SpongeBob (Wormy) but it’s Kirby
Tumblr media
(Let’s just say, hypothetically, Kirby wasn’t afraid of Capillers yet.)
Anyways, I thought it would be absolutely hilarious if, in this case, instead of that freaky bug closeup that pops up on screen from time to time, it's just a still shot of Morpho.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had to force myself to rewatch the episode to get details right for this by the way. God, I hate that bug closeup. Spooky.

Aaaaaand one last doodle:

Ok, I had WAY too much fun with this.
I’ve been meaning to draw this idea out for a long while now, but this post got me motivated to actually do it.

Mithrun's desire as an SA analogue
TW discussion of SA and detailed breakdown of aesthetics evoking SA. The way I discuss this is vivid in a way that may be triggering, though there is no discussion of actual sexual assault. Just survivor's responses to it.
People relate to Mithrun and see his condition as an analogue for a few different things, like brain injury or depression. And I think all of them are there. But I also see Mithrun's story as an SA analogue, and Ryoko Kui intentionally evokes those aesthetics. I think it's a part of Mithrun's character that a lot of people miss, but I very much consider it text. This is partially inspired by @heird99's post on what makes this scene so disturbing; so check out their post, too :)
Tumblr media
So to start off with, the demon invades Mithrun's bed, specifically. There's even a canopy around it, which specifically evokes this idea of personal intrusion; the barrier is being pulled apart without consent or warning. The way the hand reaches towards Mithrun's body from outside of the panel division makes it almost look like the goat stroking over his body. It's an especially creepy visual detail; similarly, the goat's right hand parts into the side of the panel as well. It's literally like it's tearing the page apart; but gently. So gently.
Mithrun is in bed. It is his bed that the demon is intruding on. He's in a position of intimacy. The woman behind him is a facsimile of his "beloved" that he left behind; the woman who, in reality, chose Mithrun's brother. He is in bed with his fantasy lover, who is leaning over him. While this scene isn't explicitly sexual, it is intimate. And it is being invaded. The goat lifts Mithrun gently, who is confused, but not yet struggling.
Tumblr media
The erotics of consumption and violence in Ryoko Kui's work(remember that the word 'erotic' can have many different meanings, please) are a... notable part of some of her illustrations. I would say she blurs the lines between all forms of desire: personal, sexual, gustatory and carnal, in her illustrations in order to emphasize the pure desire she wants to work with and evoke to serve her themes. Kui deploys sexual imagery in a lot of places in Dungeon Meshi, and this is one of them.
In this case, horrifically. The goat's assault begins with drooling, licking, and nuzzling. The goat could be enjoying and "playing with" its food. But it can also be interpreted as it "preparing" Mithrun with its tongue as it begins to literally breach Mithrun's body. The goat also invades directly through his clothing; that adds another level of disturbing to me. There's nothing Mithrun can do in this moment of violation. Mithrun is fighting, but he is fighting weakly, trying to grip on and push away when he has no ability or option to. All he can do is beg the goat to stop. And it doesn't care. This all evokes sexual assault.
The sixth panel demonstrates a somewhat sexual position, with Mithrun's thighs spread around the goat's hunched over body. In the next, the goat pulls and holds apart Mithrun's thighs as he nuzzles into him. The way the clothing bunches up looks a bit as if it has been pushed up. It has pinned Mithrun down onto the bed, into Mithrun's soft furs and pillows. It takes a place made to be supernaturally warm and comfortable, and violates it. It's utterly and intimately horrifying. To me, this sequence of positions directly evokes a rape scene. I think Kui did this very explicitly. These references to sexual invasion are part of what makes this scene so disturbing; albeit, to many viewers, subconsciously. It makes my skin crawl.
This is also the moment the goat takes Mithrun's eye. Other than this, the goat seems exceptionally strong, but also... gentle. It holds Mithrun's body tightly, but moves it around slowly. It doesn't need to hurt Mithrun physically. But in that moment, it takes Mithrun's eye. Blood seeps from a wound while an orifice that should not be pierced is penetrated. This moment, the ooze of blood in one place specifically, also evokes rape. That single bit of physical gore is a very powerful bit of imagery to me.
Finally; it is Mithrun's desire that is eaten. After his assault, Mithrun can find no pleasure in things that he once did. He is fully disassociated from his emotions. This is a common response to trauma, especially in the case of SA. It's not uncommon for people to never, or take a long time to, enjoy sex in the same way again; or at all. They might feel like their rapist has robbed them of a desire and pleasure they once had. I think this makes Mithrun's lack of desire a partial analogue for the trauma of sexual assault.
Mithrun's desire for revenge was, supposedly, all that remained. Anger at his assaulter, anger at every being that was like it; though, perhaps not anger. Devotion, in a way. To his cause. I don't know. But the immediate desire to seek revenge is another response to SA. But on to Mithrun's true feelings on the matter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is... So incredibly tragic. Mithrun feels used up. Like his best parts have been taken away. Like he's being... tossed aside. This certainly parallels the way assault victims can feel after being left by an abuser. Or the way assault victims feel they might be "ruined" forever for other partners. These are common sentiments for survivors to carry, and need to overcome. In the text, it's almost like Mithrun feels the only being who can desire him is a demon who might "finish devouring" him. That that's his only use. It's worth noting that Mithrun trusted the demon. Mithrun's world was built by the demon, and Mithrun, in that way, was cared for by the demon. I think this reinforces Mithrun's place as a victim.
There's also something to be said about Mithrun as a victim of his own possessive romantic and sexual desire. The mirror shows him his beloved just dining with his brother, and it infuriates him. He doesn't know if the vision is real, nor if she has really chosen his brother as a romantic partner. The goat then creates a whole fantasy world where she loves him. As Mithrun's dungeon deteriorates, she is the only person that continues to exist. Mithrun continues to have control over her. And that is the strongest desire the demon is eating, isn't it? There's something interesting there, but I don't know what to say about it.
In conclusion, I think Mithrun's story is an explicit analogue for sexual assault-- though, certainly, among other things! The way the scene plays out and is composed explicitly references sexual violation and invasion of the body. His condition mirrors common trauma responses to sexual violence. And, at the end, he finally realizes he can recover.
Tumblr media
Let's end on a happy Mithrun, after taking the first step on his journey to recovery :) You aren't vegetable scraps Mithrun. But even if you were-- every single thing in this world has value. Even vegetable scraps.

There are three instances in game where astarion calls himself a prostitute and reveals he think is himself as one
1) if you don't romance him and take him to the twin drows he will say "never thought I'd see myself on the paying end of a brothel"
2) if you romance and you go to the twin drows in the brothel post final quest, you can ask to hire one of them, he'll say "You have a type don't you? Elven prostitutes, again?" again refers to himself
3) if you play as Astarion, when you meet the drows at the brothel the first option in the dialogue is telling them "i was in a similar situation as yours". The drow man asks him how it was, and Astarion can answer in four ways, basically (from memory) "i did what i did to survive" /"it was not consensual for me, but you seem to want to be here" /"i prefer not to remember" /"horrible and horrifying".

hc that Dazai made a point of calling Chuuya small when they met because Dazai was used to being the small one.
like, finally there was someone shorter than him. because let’s be real, Dazai was barely taller than Chuuya in Fifteen.
i think people forget how small Dazai was too— not just in height, but also in weight. He was underweight in Dark Era, but in Fifteen & even at present he's barely within the healthy weight range for his height. he was constantly described as a twig in Fifteen, and almost every time he's introduced in the light novels he's called lanky, slender, etc.
