I know it’s highly likely someone will die in the finale of The Bad Batch but wouldn’t it be nice if they won?

We know they don’t defeat the Empire but winning to them could just mean staying together. The clones as a people have been put through so much and have all but been erased from the galaxy’s history. There is barely anyone alive to remember them. Their entire collective existence has been interwoven with tragedy from the moment Jango Fett allowed his DNA to be used. You don’t need to kill anyone for their stories to be tragic. For as long as they all live, they will never get to experience true freedom that doesn’t involve hiding.

I know Rex is clearly traumatised in Rebels and Echo isn’t with him so people are making the assumption Echo won’t survive. And I know people are placing bets on which other member of the batch won’t make it, but what if it just didn’t happen?

I’d just like the clones to have one small win because they’ve never had one. Let the remaining members of the batch live. Let Echo come back to them. Let Hunter live to see his little girl grow up. Let Crosshair actually get better. Let this tiny percentage of a race of people who are being wiped out spend a few more days in the sun. It would be a nice subversion of our expectations.

One thing I see in this fandom is the unjustified hate for Echo. I have grievances on how each character is handled and how they are written by the show writers except Omega, Emerie and Tech. ( This doesn't include the antagonists and the villains)

Echo falls into the category where I think they could've done more with him. He survives an explosion, getting tortured endlessly but none of that is explored further than him confiding to Omega that he hates solitude and his reaction to Azi in the first episode.

They could do more with him but they don't. Which is a bummer. The one thing I love about Echo is how he takes control of his fate and his place in all of this. He went through so much torture that he is unwilling to let his other brothers suffer the same fate.

Let me use this opportunity to say Echo doesn't owe the bad batch anything. I see this argument that they saved him so he should be grateful and what not. No 🤨

Stop letting your emotions overcloud your judgement. Rex saved Echo. He was the one to never give up on him. The batch was simply the squad to help Rex. Nothing more. They were not eager to save Echo. Why would they be? They don't know him.

Which is great because you see how they grow fond of him. My favourite is Tech and Omega's relationship with him. Tech was the member who was least hostile to Echo in that arc and we see how close they are in season 1 already 😭😭 ( I miss them your honour) and Omega who is new to the squad like he is and they bond over that.

Why didn't he participate in searching for Omega in earlier season 3 because right now it is clear he is still unaware she is taken. That is because Omega isn't the only one who needs help. Remember Rex and Echo are still actively searching for Tantiss. I wish he could have stayed as a viewer because I love when he is on the screen 😭 but I can see why writers went this route in this scenario.

He isn't uncaring. We see him mourn for Tech in the marauder. We see that he keeps Omega in his mind and gives her a beautiful energy crossbow. I could go into detail on how Echo deals with loss and grief but the post is already long enough.

Overall he is severely underutilized but he still shines as a character which should tell you how amazing he is. I hope we get a Rex spinoff series which shows the clone rebellion and Echo being a part of it. (Let's pray he survives the finale 😰😭😭)

Plan 99

This one...I humbly apologize.

I am writing something sweet i promise its just taking longer.

Plan 99. He knew what it meant. They all knew what it meant. 

But would anyone explain it to Phee?

He never had understood the sentimentality of love. 

Never believed that he would experience it. 

But hanging underneath the cable car. 

Hearing his brothers and sister yell at him. He finally knew what it was.

As he pulls the trigger he knows he isn't coming back from this. 

The probability is too low. He ran the numbers in his head when he lifted the blaster. 

As he shoots he takes one last look at his younger brother and older sister.

Memorizing Omega’s face and Wreckers helmet. 

He wishes, selfishly, he could have seen him without it one last time. 

Wishes he could have argued with Echo

Could have strategized with Hunter 

Could have just spoken with Crosshair.

Just one last time

As he closes his eyes he recalls the face that he had memorized against his will. 

He thought of her constantly.

When he flew his ship. Phee.

When he thought about Pabu. Phee.

When he ran back towards the cable car. Phee.

Phee Genoa. A woman. Something he had never thought he would get to have the pleasure of knowing.

She was effervescent,incredible, intelligent, warm, and hundreds of other words in thousands of languages. 

Tech had an entire folder of words he saw fit to describe her. 

He had heard stories of the regs' escapades with nat born females but had decided that with an intellectual mind such as his own, he would neither find someone who would put up with him, nor would he ever grow attached.

To his surprise. His astonishment. This was the only time he had been wrong.

But was he glad for it. 

She confounded him constantly. 

Never doing what he predicted. 

He recalls the first time they met. She called him “Brown eyes” despite the fact that all clones eyes are the same brown. 

But, it made him feel different.

He of course ran a full diagnostic later on but nothing explained the feelings in his stomach when she spoke to him. 

When their eyes met. 

When he held her against him as they scaled the wall on Pabu.

He didn't particularly like physical touch but for her he could make exceptions. 

He remembers how she and Omega became fast friends. 

How he didnt know how much he would enjoy watching them interact.

As he falls his mind races and it feels like time slows down.

He quickly presses a button on his helmet that automatically plays his favorite recording.

He watches as Phee turns to him in Cid’s office. 

Charming as she always was.

And the last thing he hears is her voice calling him Brown eyes.

The pirate’s ship wasn’t protected. She just left it open. 

It was all too easy to get on the ship and get the coordinates. 

He completed the mission but something makes him pause. 

His orders were to dispose of her if she caused trouble. 

But those were orders he didn’t feel the need to follow. 

She looked familiar 

Like a distant memory 

No sense in hurting something so…effervescent

Effervescent? Where had that come from? 

He watches her closely as she inspects the hangar.

There’s something inside him fighting to get to her. 

For a moment there’s whispers in his mind. As if someone is trying to escape.

He shakes his head and it’s gone. 

Whatever was before is gone. He is what remains. And that night when he looks in the mirror in his quarters. A pair of mechanical eyes, stark white stare back at him.
