The Haunted Dreamhouse Barbie is property of Mattel, the Hatbox Ghost and Haunted Mansion are property of Disney, the art is mine (please don't use my work without my permission- thanks!) Here's some fanart of the last two movies I saw! I thought it would be funny to combine them. XD

Oh! Another thing if a appreciate is that the character’s regularly change outfits. It’s a great tool to show time passing and personality though clothing choice. I love how “we may be trapped here together but I’ll be damned if I’m caught in the same thing twice”.
Did- did they take turns changing in the ghost bathroom or use on of those victorian folding screens … is the bathroom haunted? Toilet ghost?!

I’ve ranted this ironically everywhere except on my own page but
It ticks me off that Disney didn’t have, like, movie promo items accompanying The Haunted Mansion while all these other movies are just plain spoiling us with fantastic merch.
I know The Mouse has the money to give us something, but it personally feels like they just didn’t really try a whole lot when it came to marketing this movie.
Just!!!
Popcorn containers in the shape of Madam Leota’s crystal ball, or the Hat Box if they didn’t want to get too occulty
A special flavor of ICEE like a mixed berry kind that comes out a paler blue than blue raspberry, so it’s like the ghosts. Comes in a cup that you could frankly just slap the image of the mansion on or something. Or hell, make the cup resemble Hatbox’s top hat!
Drink umbrellas, larger than the normal ones because they’re decorated like the types of parasols you might see at a second line
Pins: One in the shape of a top hat that says “Happy Hauntings”, or a trio set that looks like the Hitchhiking Ghosts (you can buy separately or all three)
Collectible, like, I guess almost post-card like cards with the tarot-themed poster designs on them with the meanings of what they symbolize on the back
It’s not merch, but maybe an area with cut outs of Ezra, Phineas, and Gus that people can take pics with, like how people took pics in the Barbie box. (Yeah, they’re only in the movie for a second, but it’s still a nice gesture I think people would enjoy.)
S o m e t h i n g
And these are just off the top of my head! I’ll admit that some of this frustration comes from the fact that I love to collect movie merch that some theaters will sell, but seriously: Haunted Mansion movie merch has so much potential! It constantly feels like Disney is practically served opportunities and obvious choices on silver platters, only to completely disregard them!

Local 14 year old Crump descendant being in denial of a tyrant ghost. As she should! 🫶 (Somebody get her grandpa before things get worse)
Full comic: (sorry if the lighting and quality is pretty bad)

Based on this tumblr post below and discussion with @virtualexpertanchor
Also thought of giving 2023 movie version of Emilia a scarf (she’s wearing her coat, just the scarf is hiding the buttons) that belonged to the Caretaker (Silas Crump)
( Emilia is me and @olainewashere ‘s oc :3 )

I just went on the haunted mansion tag and not nearly enough people were talking about Ben matthias. He is my baby girl and I want to carry him with me in my pocket at all times while he complains about everyone around him

The more i look at it, the more faithful it look to the ride. I partucularely adore the fact we can spot the ghost’s skeletons through their vaporous appearence, which reminds me a bit of Crimson Peak- even the mansion has the same vibe. Guillermo Del Toro was executive producer of this film, that explains all.

Okay last complaint than I'm out of your tags I swear
Who the hell designed this thing? Do you see this?? This is William Gracey:

This is Regency clothing which matches since he bought the Manor, fully built, in 1790. Like these:

This is Alistair Crump:

My man is hailing from the mid-Victorian/1860's era at earliest with that high ass tall standing collar and cape overcoat. Like this:

Are you trying to tell me Gracey summoned Crump's spirit through time and space?!

What I have always loved about the Haunted Mansion - whether it is the films or the ride, is just how immersive it is - hence why y'all should GO SEE THE NEW FILM. RIGHT NOW.
Note: This is not an ask. This is a demand.

The Hatbox Ghost: A Disney Film Villain We All Wanted
The most recent Disney films have been lacking a lot of genuine villains. Some were pathetic bullies, misguided souls or didn't make much impact. The Hatbox Ghost A.K.A. Allistair Krump struck me as the villain that we all wanted to see in a modern Disney Film.
Of course, his appearance alone is frightening. His head went from his body to a hatbox in a matter of seconds. Add the cane and top hat and he'd look like something out of Bram Stroker's novel or an enemy of Sherlock Holmes. His background is a little sad, but it doesn't earn complete sympathy from the audience. Other ghosts are scared of him (which is not a really good sign!).
What also makes him an effective villain is how he controls others. Like Emperor Belos from The Owl House, he makes false promises and says things his victims want to hear. This causes the victims to meet their demise under a full moon. That amount of control does make him one foe you REALLY don't want to take on by yourself! I also think he embodies depression and grief at its worst. After all, depression can weigh people down and find it hard to function on a daily basis. Such as what we've seen with Travis and Ben.

so I just saw the Haunted Mansion and I’m gonna be honest I REALLY enjoyed it? A solid 8/10. The guy who played Ben did an EXCELLENT job being a still grieving husband, like I saw TEARS.
also Danny Devito was his usual unhinged self so like-that’s always a plus

Ok. I’ll spare everyone from a “the movie did not ruin the hatbox ghost it’s just a different interpretation from yours” post but this time I’ll address the other villain that some say ‘should’ have been used.
No Constance shouldn’t have been the villain.
Is she one of the obviously malevolent ghosts in the mansion? Yes. Would she be enough of a antagonist for a two hour film? No!
Constance is a Crime of passion/black widow killer. She does it for money, for lifestyle and maybe that she simply likes doing so. We see with her husbands that she chops her way up the social ladder from Farmers wife too wealthy and mansion owning.
What use would she have beyond the grave. Early money isn’t exactly useful to her anymore and I don’t think she’s so mindless to kill everyone without reason (however I like the current film suggesting she has a thing for particularly being aggressive towards men/likes going after them). She’d have no motivation for keeping them trapped or going after half of the cast!! Nor the power for it!
The muppets movie also shows this, she’s an antagonist on a small level- trying to lure in a new husband. This time purely for the thrill of the kill. She’s not holding the entire mansion under her grip, she couldn’t care less what the other haunts do so much as they allow her to do her thing in the attic

Look, I’m sorry to say but the hatbox ghost was the most likely choice. You would’ve been mad if they made one up for the movie too, so it’s sort of the less of two evils. He’s also like the mascot so it’s a way of putting him in a prominent role.
