Was looking through the posts of “what stuff have I shared and haven’t I shared to tumblr since I got back into the swing of things” and I noticed I never shared The Springlock Paradox drawings @the-ooftroop drew couple years ago before they became too big to fail. Honestly I am shocked I never showed these off sooner as looking at them now has my shriveled brain producing dopamine. :V

STAY OFF MY TERRITORY - Time Travel in Lore Olympus (feat. Springlock, our resident time traveller)
Tumblr media
AH YES. TIME TRAVEL. BUILDING COFFEE TABLES FROM IKEA. BOTH A MESS, BOTH SOMETHING YOU SHOULD NEVER ATTEMPT EVEN AS A GAG.
THERE WILL BE FASTPASS SPOILERS IN THIS ANALYTICAL DISSECTION OF LORE OLYMPUS' TIME TRAVEL !!!
Let's establish the "time travel" in LO first of all - it's briefly introduced by Hecate, who says that Hades isn't in a 'where' but a 'when' , hahahaha i so love time travel jokes /s THIS ISN'T A LAUGHING MATTER-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had already covered this in the criticisms that Kronos' 'dream comas' would have been better allocated to his time travel abilities, and it seems now Rachel is trying to make that a reality at the last possible minute. I'm going to completely tear apart that reality to present to you why it doesn't work in LO.
Tumblr media
Aw, Kronos' time abilities are finite? Get on my level, sir.
Tumblr media
The caveat is the existential toll that time travel takes on the jumper, and the fact that in most cases, it's impossible to perform due to paradoxes. And Lore Olympus' time travel presents a lot of paradoxes. No wonder Kronos went crazy, I'm going crazy just thinking about everything that's wrong with this.
Tumblr media
So Hades is trapped 'somewhere' in time. This isn't something I haven't seen before, but the issue it presents is getting someone back to their present time, as it presents the first paradox -
PARADOX #1 - There are no accidents. If someone is to jump into a timeline outside of their own, even if by 'accident', that would still have to be predestined by the timeline itself. This is in line with the grandfather paradox, which I will let the almighty Google define for us all to keep things brief:
Tumblr media
You cannot travel back in time 'by accident'. If you were to travel back in time, it would have been written into the script of reality already, so any effects caused by your jumping would be purposeful, even if they seem like 'accidents' to you - such as becoming your own grandfather, Philip J Fry.
Moving on, in the most recent FastPass episode, Melinoe reveals that she was taken from her timeline by Kronos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PARADOX #2 - Which version of Kronos took her? Was it the present version travelling into the future to take her from her timeline into his present? Or was it some future version of Kronos who has escaped yet again at some point in the future and then travelled back into the past to interfere with the events of the current present, possibly in an attempt to rewrite the script? If it's the latter, this means that Hera and Persephone can't feasibly stop Kronos indefinitely, as to stop Kronos would mean that he wouldn't exist in the future to take Melinoe from her future timeline and thus this present timeline of events would cease to exist. If we want to get even more granular with it, 'present' Kronos is still 'past' Kronos as it's the Kronos from ten years ago who got his hands on a deity to help him mess with people's dreams, and that deity has been revealed to be Melinoe, who would have had to be ripped from some point in their future timeline. This falls in line with a temporal paradox, or as most people know it, the 'kill baby Hitler' paradox, which designates that one cannot go back in time to kill baby Hitler, as killing baby Hitler would remove all the subsequent events that would lead up to you deciding to build a time machine and go back in time to kill baby Hitler.
Melinoe claims she's only been here a few days. That would be all well and good, as time is funny like that - I've done my fair share of jumps into the distant past only to return a few minutes later - but what doesn't line up is the present timeline of events that would only work unless she's actually been trapped for longer than a few days.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PARADOX #3 - So it's only been a few days, but Hades and Persephone have known about this child trapped in Tartarus for weeks, and we know Kronos has had her since the dream diving arc back near the end of S2. So unless Kronos is simply jumping to different points in time to cause shenanigans - which leads to even MORE paradoxes as you feasibly cannot travel to your own past to change it due to it creating a different future - then it can't have only been a 'few days' for Melinoe, it would have been at least a few weeks, giving some wiggle room to the past events of her appearing before Hades in his dreams due to her being the goddess of nightmares. Kronos escaping Tartarus after using Melinoe to put people to sleep and possess them was not something that happened in a pocket dimension, it was very real and very present.
Hades commits an even bigger sin, however, and the biggest issue with this 'time travel' plotline:
Tumblr media
PARADOX #4 - I truly hope 'home' means 'home point in her timeline' and not their literal home. Hades and Persephone cannot take Melinoe, for two reasons: they haven't had their daughter yet, and the future timeline versions of Hades and Persephone need their daughter back. If Hades and Persephone were to adopt this version of Melinoe in their present timeline, it would create a clone paradox, as they would have a duplicate Melinoe from the future, OR it would create the grandfather paradox if they opted not to try for a child knowing they already have Melinoe which would erase the whole sequence of events that led to future Melinoe's birth in the first place.
Ultimately Lore Olympus' time travel suffers from the same issue many time travel stories suffer from - not having consistent rules. It is choosing now , near the finale of the series, to introduce time travel, rather than establishing it back in Season 1 when Kronos was first hinted at. It's also still not clear in what Hades' role is in this, as him being taken to a 'when' could still be read as a dream sequence rather than actual time travel. After all, Kronos supposedly "exhausted" his time travelling powers centuries ago - surely as a way for Rachel to have her cake and cover for the fact that she's had Kronos in the series since S1 and never actually had him do what he's known for - but now she's trying to eat it too by just giving him his time travel powers again for no reason besides rewriting the dream diving finale from S2 but with ambiguous time travel instead.
It's all a huge mess and the best thing I can do for myself is simply not let it keep me up at night. I have enough time travelling problems to worry about as it is. I will be sticking to the Austin Powers method -
youtube
(I am not enjoying myself.)

For those unfamiliar with my Spring Chica AU, I had this idea where William Afton - just prior to becoming Springtrap - ends up trapped in some sort of storage facility/warehouse/barn/whatever with the only Springlock Chica suit in existence... oh, and it's haunted by one of his former employees, and she's pissed off with him because it's actually his fault she's trapped inside and undead. This former employee is Francine Cantor, who was a creative consultant for Fredbear's Family Diner, as well as a song-writer for Fredbear and Spring Bonnie's performances. William tricked her into getting springlocked inside the Spring Chica suit when she discovered what he was secretly doing with Spring Bonnie.
To summarize: Spring Chica wants to kill William Afton as revenge for him killing her. He has to survive until he can find a way out of the storage facility/warehouse/barn/whatever. The canon ending is that William escapes and he goes on to become Springtrap shortly afterwards. There's also a Paradox Ending where William dies to Spring Chica, thus Springtrap is never made and the FNAF timeline is thrown out of whack.
I'm bringing this up because I haven't decided if I want to make a traditional FNAF game out of it (which I will definitely not be good at) or if I want to make it a visual novel with voice acting. Hell, do I even want to make this a thing? I don't know if I even have the energy to do it. I'd also need help from people and I have social anxiety so bad that I end up going for MONTHS without talking to my own friends. I am the literal worst at communicating with people.
Anyway... I thought I had a tag for this AU before, but apparently not, so here, let's just form it now.

So I have a theory about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Spoilers for Scarlet and Violet as when you complete the main story, you fight off the Pokémon professor. They are replaced by an ai built by the professors and they were stuck in their respective times, Sara being stuck in the past and Turo being stuck in the future.
Well I have a theory on why they were stuck in either the past or the future. It’s because they’re respective times killed them off.
My reasoning? The times they’re sent back to correspond to how they died
For professor Sada in the Scarlet games, she gets stuck in the past. Now paradox Pokémon in the scarlet games are ancient creatures from long ago. For that, you can assume that they are mostly dinosaurs or something. And for people that’ve seen Jurassic Park know what happens when dinosaurs mix with humans. That’s right. Professor Sada was eaten by one of the paradox Pokémon.
For professor Turo, on the other hand, died differently. You see, professor Turo got stuck in the future. And since nobody knows what the future holds, his death could be up to interpretation. In my opinion and guess, I say that Turo became a paradox pokemon by force. That’s right, Turo got springlocked and died from his injuries.
I also have a theory on who murdered our professors. It’s the alpha mirai/korai don that the player defeats with their legendary Pokémon. My reasoning is may be sorta fruitless but if you think about it, it’s plausible that those claws of theirs have blood on their hands.
tl:dr The professors got Jurassic parked or Springlocked in their respective times they got trapped in (in theory)

being self-indulgent, okay, so:
explanations for the aus under the cut
SL canon compliant mike: got concussed and heavily injured from Funtime Foxy's attack; learning what happened to Liz was his first exposure to ghosts and possession, where he learned the hard way that even if he wants to help the spirits inside animatronics they're just going to attack and hurt him; doesn't fight as hard as he should against the wires holding him down at the Scooper because deep down he thinks he deserves this and he shouldn't fight if this stands the slightest chance of helping Liz
dire consequences mike: gets trapped in an abandoned Freddy's location by Evan's ghost; Evan just wants to play and be happy with his brother, but has been dead so long that he doesn't understand human concepts like starvation, dehydration, illness, and pain; Michael slowly withers away before Evan rips Mikey open to figure out what's wrong with him, finally killing Mike (fic for reference)
silent protector mike: while working as Mike Schmidt in fnaf 1, Mike finds Evan's ghost possessing Golden Freddy; Mike tries to bare his soul and apologize for what he did, except Evan utterly rejects and kills him, giving Mike's ghost some Serious Trauma later; Evan picks Mike up, puts his head inside Fredbear's mouth, and chomps/activates the springlocks
paradoxical reaper mike (from my specific one shot): as per dire-kumori's au, scooped Mike ("the monster") gets sent back in time and gets himself stuck in a time loop trying to kill his teenage self over and over. My one-shot has teen Mike trying to fight back only to get himself impaled on some spikes that teen Mike himself set up to kill the "monster" chasing him; the "monster" tells teen Mike that Mike brought this on himself, rips away Mike's Foxy mask (the only thing that made him feel strong enough to survive the monster's attack), and watches Mike slowly die
lonely children mike: is essentially stuck in a time loop where he has to watch the Nightmare animatronics kill Evan over and over, and the only way the loop will reset (giving Michael the illusion of another chance to save Evan from the Nightmares), is if Mike kills himself over and over

why FNAF might not be that great after all
recently, i was trying to come up with a list of things in the world that i thought were quality, but were actually stupid from a heavenly perspective. the list contained shadow the hedgehog, platinum's games, metal slug, homestuck, yadda yadda... eventually, i came to a dead end. so, i asked god if there were any more things that could be added to the list. and what i heard was the last thing i ever expected.
"five nights at freddy's."
i was surprised, but had no idea how the words even managed to sneak into my head. then i did some thinking. we all know FNAF started when a person criticized the characters of scott cawthon's Chipper Sons and Lumber as being too much like weird animatronics. eventually, scott decided, "heh, i'll make a spooky pizzeria horror game and see how the internet likes it". markiplier and pewds found it, and the rest is history.
you might be thinking, "how can a game about spooky noises, shadowy pizzeria CCTV, and screeching robot animals be bad?" but some of you reading this may already realize what FNAF is capable of. at first, FNAF 1 and 2 had a campy plot of "kids got stuffed in suits, don't get stuffed in one yourself" that a teenager could have come up with.
but then FNAF 3 came along, with sinister-looking phantom animatronics and springtrap, who's literally a zombie-animatronic hybrid that came about when purple guy got trapped and crushed in a springlock suit. from then on, the game series slowly started experimenting with things like bloody exoskeletons(breaking wheel), violent male pregnancy(in the flesh), and minireenas entering a person's body through the mouth to the point where perforations are made in their stomach(room for one more).
even in the older FNAF books, like the silver eyes(which was released in december 2015, mind you), i have heard FNAF fans say that people killed in springlock failures have blood pour into their lungs, preventing them from screaming. and in the main game series, FNAF:PS has the scary scrap baby, and springtrap himself has turned from a weird animatronic with a PvZ zombie inside to THE FRICKING LICH. and then you got gregory killing the glamrocks, to the point where some of their eyes pop out when being killed...
and with the FNAF movie, springtrap himself has a knife, and scott has said the film will not hold back on the violence. i now theorize that FNAF is just the horror genre, but with a mask on. the true story of FNAF might not even be about child murder, remnant, or even animatronics, but might rather be a story about a horror franchise with a mask on, and slowly taking it off. terrifying, indeed.
now, does this mean scott cawthon and the rest of his creations are bad news? by no means! scott cawthon has made meaningful games like the desolate hope(even if mirad's simulation was sort of weird), and he has also contributed to hope animation with shows like bible plays and the jesus kids club. go look up some of the episodes of TJKC and you'll see what i mean.
even if some of his games, like the fifth paradox, might have issues, scott has shown by his behavior both when AND prior to the republican donations fiasco was happening, that he is a good person.
i honestly think it's for the best that scott is minimally involved with FNAF now. it's grown like a bloating DA fat art character, and scott probably has an opportunity to grow more in christ now that he's free from FNAF's craziness.

A little hypothetical concept drawing I did of The Mimic, incase I ever wanted to add something from the modern Fnaf into The Springlock Paradox. I have been doing my best to keep things post-FFPS to a minimum since after FFPS was when I started work on TSP, that being said it was never a staple rule that I couldn't add stuff from the future should I find a way to make it work.
Should be noted that it wouldn't be a 1:1 version due to the context needed to make them appear, but it is just an idea I had at 4 in the morning. :V

Six years of this huh? Damn, it's one of those things I never really think of until it is time to do these anniversary drawings... But it is a hell of a mental whiplash to think about it. That being said since it was The Springlock Paradox that made me tie my shoes and finally commit to something, it would make sense that it wouldn't just come and go and that I gotta see this to the end, let's see how many more years I got in me with this comic, hm?

But hey, if you ever wanted to make a fnaf puppet oc but weren't certain on if it what their purpose if, you can just say "They are canon to The Springlock Paradox" and you wouldn't be wrong! Heck you could make them date a fungus person that is also your own OC, Free of charge! :V

So, woke up, checked my usual internet things for anything neat. Saw this post on the fnaf subreddit. And while I get what they are going for with what the mean by the "canon William Afton vs fanon AU william afton", I personally don't see alot to agree. But I also am not looking at alot of other people's fnaf AU's to see if they do make "Guilty/Misunderstood Gay Twinks" Williams or not. But I do know what I did with my fnaf AU's William Afton(s), and decided to make this funny because of it.

The Aftons re-experiencing the simple joy of laying down on a bed after spending 30+ years "sleeping" in various awful scenarios one is just my dark humor at it's finest.
Wait a second, that last one is a minor teaser of the next chapter, how did that slip into the crack?

No, you WON’T have an explanation as to why I did this, nor why I decided out of all things to do with this I made it a crossover of sorts between The Springlock Paradox and The Undeniably Canon FNAF Timeline. All you need to know is that my computer froze as I was drawing it and I had to reboot it and that it is currently 2 AM. :V
