There is something so, so wrong about the fact that Shadow's vet bill today was $85, but the Uber to and from was $65. However, Dr Margaret (whom I love deeply and with all my heart and nerd love) gave Shadow a thorough once-over and apart from a slightly elevated temperature, and needing to put on some of her lost weight (albeit some of the weight recorded at MedVet likely included the gigantic BEZOAR they removed from her GI tract) pronounced her in excellent condition and very nicely healed up from her surgery. She also decreed Shadow no longer has to wear the banana pants onesie and can resume her carefree life of public nudity!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whether it was freedom from wearing clothes, or just excited to be home from the vet, she then demolished about a third of a 3 oz can of wet food which brought me stupid amounts of joy because I have been fretting and tying myself in knots over how much she hasn't been eating and drinking even though she has been eating and drinking. I am a fan of please drink more water. All the water. Candice even got her milk that is especially for cats! And she has been eating the milk-flavoured Temptations cat treats. Which, while they should not be her sole source of sustenance, are still calories and still count as far as I'm concerned.
In order to avoid having to pay interest on the $8000 deposit, it's very important that we raise the remaining $5,000 before April 1st. I am further culling my 1:6 scale collection of dolls, miniatures, and diorama furniture which are sold on consignment by the wonderful Pamela at TinyFrockShop.com. So if you are also a 1:6 action figure or doll nerd, there will be great deals to be had on some Holy Grails like Vitra Design Museum replicas, rare convention Poppy Parker dolls, and lots and lots of Re-Ment.
Please help signal boost by reblogging this post, sharing the link to our GFM, and please donate if you can! Every little bit helps, and we appreciate all of you so incredibly much.

Fernando Campana (1961 – 2022)
Born in the rural town of Brotas, the São Paolo-based designer earned a degree in architecture from the Faculdade de Belas Artes de São Paolo in 1984, before creating Estudio Campana that same year with his older brother Humberto, an attorney.
During the 1980s the studio produced a series of sculptural metal chairs welded from iron called Desconfortáveis (Uncomfortables), eventually moving toward a practice using everyday materials like cardboard, rope, wicker, bamboo, and wood.  Their iconic Favela Chair, from 1991 was fabricated with scraps of wood from discarded fruit crates, nailed and glued by hand. “The people who live in favelas construct their own homes, so I thought, why not construct a chair myself,” said Fernando in a discussion about the seat with curator Darrin Alfred from a 2010 interview. It was, he explained at the time, meant to symbolize a Brazilian shantytown.
It was in the 1990s—a time when the design world was primarily focused on the post-World War II movement of the Italians—that the Campanas came on the scene, with work that underscored Brazilian culture and its craft, sculpting furnishings from a range of raw and found materials. Their 1993 Vermelha Chair was a lesson in resourcefulness, hand-woven from cotton rope that enveloped a metal frame.
Design journalist Arlene Hirst was “gobsmacked” when she first encountered the chair, manufactured by Italian manufacturer Edra, at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. A year later the chair was included in Project 66: Campana Brothers/Ingo Maurer, a 1998 exhibition at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), curated by Paola Antonelli, the museum’s senior curator of architecture and design, an associate at the time. For this show, Antonelli paired the Brazilian brothers’ furniture with German lighting designer Ingo Maurer’s luminaires in vignettes that highlighted a shared passion for materiality and invention.
Both Fernando and Humberto were active in the production process as well, but as is often the case with partners, they remained elusive about specific roles. “Fernando had the training, so he was the more pragmatic one,” noted Antonelli in a recent interview, referring to his architectural roots. “He never discussed it. And I never questioned it. It was implied,” she said. The younger Campana also drew inspiration from his daily routines, local markets and wandering São Paolo’s streets. Antonelli recalled asking him about his use of found objects, asking if they weren’t too cute? His response, “They are not too cute. They are part of my life.”
Many of those found objects—including stuffed animals—made their way onto upholstered seating like the 2002 Banquete series, which became the equivalent of a sold-out Broadway show. It is still produced out of the Campana São Paolo studio, and handsewn by local craftspeople who are considered part of the extended Campana family.
In 2010 the New York- and L.A.-based gallery Friedman Benda began global representation of the brother’s work. “Campana Studio brought a completely fresh perspective, creating a dialogue with local crafts and the use of the readymade,” says co-founder Marc Benda, adding, “They were trailblazers.” The gallery assisted with support of the studio and helped them to balance the commercial success of their practice with its roots in the hand made.
One of the brothers’ last collaborations—presented in June at the 2022 Salone in Milan—is a collection called Metamorfosi, comprising five large-scale, pouf seats and a tapestry, created in collaboration with Italian textile designer Paola Lenti. Woven from remnants Lenti sorted and saved with CouLture Migrante, a social tailoring atelier (involving men and women asylum seekers residing in Como, Italy) the limited-edition pieces make their North American debut at Design Miami in December.
The work of Estudio Campana can be found at the Vitra Design Museum, Centre Pompidou, Musée Des Arts Décoratifs, MoMA, among other design-focused institutions. In 2020, they were the subject of 35 Revolutions, a retrospective at Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro on the occasion of their 35th anniversary.

analysis frame store
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Introduction
Project: Frame Store, Amsterdam
Location: Amsterdam
Design: i29 interior architects
Client: Frame Publishers
Category: Retail
Floor area: 190 m2
Completion year: 2014 (17 April to 30 September 2014)
Duration: 6 months
Location
Felix Meritis is a unique building, originally built in 1788 for a society of scientists, artists and entrepreneurs during intellectual movement "The Enlightenment". Every space in the building refers to a time in the building’s history with their own identity, just as in 1788 when each department had its own interpretation. The challenge was to bring the old building to the “now” in terms of appearance and experience. In the building there are a restaurant, a bar, a lounge area, multiple conference rooms, a theatre and a concert hall. The building is still a place for meeting and cultural development for all layers of society (Felix Meritis, 2014).
Client
The client for this project was the design magazine FRAME. FRAME magazine is the world’s leading magazine for designers. The shop itself is a 3D version of the magazine: it showcases work of new talents, new products and brands but also surprises and inspires the visitors. The focus is on creativity and innovation and that can be seen in the design of i29 and the products displayed.
Project
The challenge for i29 was to create a pop-up shop and exhibition in the Zuilenzaal of the Felix Meritis, without interfering with the historical beauty of this hall. The different displays also needed to be demountable when the exhibition ended. Their design for the room consists of different mirrored objects that carry out various retail functions. There are mirrored boxes with a black top surface that showcase furniture, lamps, decor and other products like shoes and accessories. Then there are two large boxes with mirrored sides aligned in the middle of the room that function as changing rooms and gallery spaces. In these gallery spaces there is also a staircase that allows the visitors to get closer to the mannequins or statues placed on top of the changing rooms. A few other products including the clothes are displayed on black metal framed shelves and clothing racks.
Materials
As said before the different displays have mirrored surfaces, because of this the products on display are highlighted and the beautiful wooden features of de Zuilenzaal itself are reflected. This way the changing rooms and the displays itself seem to disappear in the room.
By doing this the designers of i29 have succeeded in creating a surreal space where the objects are presented without taking away from the original appearance of the room.
For the designers the mirrors stand for a reflection of time and history (The old versus the new) which is well carried out in the design by bringing these mirrored boxes into the space and letting them quite literally reflect time and history and incorporating the old features of the hall itself in to the exhibition.
Collection
In the store they sell different items, like furniture, decor, clothes and accessories. For furniture and decor they’ve got the brands Vitra, Moooi, Artek and Flos. For clothes and accessories they’re featuring Rivieras, Mismo bags and LA based brand Stampd. The store has prices between €100,00 and €2920,00, so you need to have some money to buy products from this store. You can say that the store is more of a special exhibition than an everyday store.
Zoning
The project is divided in different zoning areas. The entrance of the store is located near the big staircase that goes through the Felix Meritis building. When entering the space you see displays symmetrically lined out in between the pillars and open space. In the centre of the store you will find these constructions that are a combination of a viewing point, a fitting room and a small art gallery. In the arches of the building at both sides of the store you find mannequins that are either artistic or displaying clothes.
Routing
Because the project is a retail store, it is laid out as a store. Therefore there is no main route you need to take to see the collection. The different displays can be viewed from all directions and there is a clear path between all the displays.
Lighting
The main lighting from the space comes from the big windows near the end of the store. The windows are big enough to light up the whole store. On the ceiling you can see spotlights hanging. However it looks like they are not in use, perhaps they are used later in the evening.

Colombo vs Panton
Panton, V. (2014). Verner Panton: The Collected Works. Vitra Design Museum. ISBNDomus. . Joe Colombo's own show home. Retrieved from https://www.domusweb.it/en/from-the-archive/2011/09/01/joe-colombo-s-own-show-home.html

Bathroom Suppliers
Bathroom suppliers offer a variety of products to help keep bathrooms tidy and organized. Some of these products include brushes and sponges to scrub surfaces, towels to dry hands after washing, and caddies and racks to hold shampoo and other supplies.
Online advertising can be a powerful tool for bathroom fixtures & accessories suppliers to reach their target audience and achieve their marketing goals. By tracking key metrics using analytics tools, suppliers can refine their ads to improve performance.
Kerasan
Kerasan offers vast collections of bathroom fixtures and taps. With a production plant and an advanced modelling department using software to reduce time and make the prototype and mold easier, they produce quality products that meet high standards in the national and international markets.
Their ceramic sanitary fittings are the perfect choice for those looking to design an elegant and modern bathroom. They also offer collections with classic or glamorous style that fit any taste.
The minimalist Flo collection is characterised by essential lines. The rimless NoRim system improves hygiene and simplifies cleaning with significant water savings. The floor-mounted Flo toilet pan can be BTW or BTS and is equipped with a cover to conceal the drainage system and brackets. This arrangement is particularly suitable for small bathrooms, giving the room a sense of greater lightness and space.
St. James
Saint James offers a wide range of products and services. The company’s portfolio includes health and wellness, as well as specialty services such as geriatrics. They also offer an array of prevention services and emergency medical response.
The company’s flagship facility is a 450,000 sq. ft. Sports, Entertainment, and Wellness Center in Springfield, Virginia. It houses the Department of Safety & Rescue (DSR), which oversees safety and emergency preparedness at the facility.
Saint James, known as Santiago in Spanish, was one of the Twelve Apostles. He is the patron saint of Spain and pilgrims. Like his brother John, he was a fisherman, and along with Peter, formed Jesus’ inner circle of disciples. They were designated boanerges or “Sons of Thunder” (Mark 3:17), perhaps because of their temperament or their fiery preaching.
Thomas Crappers
Thomas Crapper was a man who worked hard to perfect modern sanitary systems. He was a self-publicist who encouraged people to use sanitary ware in their own homes. He even opened the world's first bathroom showroom and displayed his W.Cs in plate-glass windows. Some ladies fainted at the sight!
Today, Thomas Crapper continues to make their legendary products. Their nineteen-century designs are combined with current knowledge to create exquisite fittings. They are also able to create custom products for clients with specific requirements.
The company's products are backed up by a 25-year guarantee against manufacturing defects. Their toilets also carry a 10-year mechanical guarantee. All products are available in a variety of finishes. They also offer a wide range of accessories to complement their bathroom products.
VitrA
A Swiss family business known for producing the furniture of Charles and Ray Eames, Vitra is also well-known for its cultural initiatives including a design museum and corporate campus designed by famous international architects such as Frank Gehry. The company is committed to developing smart, top quality solutions for the home and office with leading designers.
VitrA
From 15 production sites in Turkey, Germany, France and Russia, the brand is capable of supplying millions of ceramic sanitaryware units each year to over 75 countries. Their expansive range is complemented by bathroom furniture and bathtubs that enhance the overall experience. Whether you are looking for sleek glass shelves that elevate the aesthetic of your modern bathroom or traditional wooden ones from the Valarte line, there is something to suit every style.
Hansgrohe
From an energizing shower in the morning to a luxurious soak in the tub, Hansgrohe shapes every water experience. The German brand was founded in 1901 in the Black Forest and has been consistently ahead of its time ever since.
The company is driven by innovation, a passion for water, and an understanding of how people use their bathrooms. Their products transform bathroom spaces into a stylish feel-good oasis with timeless premium designs and innovative technologies that support a sustainable lifestyle.
Their bathroom faucets come in a variety of different spout heights to fit any sink, making them easy to install and use. They also offer a selection of bathroom accessories to complete your look. Their kitchen taps feature user-friendly functions and minimalist design to match any modern kitchen.
