#The batfam looks at their inventions

Text
This concept hasn’t left me alone since I saw that “Danny is a chemistry wizard who teaches a chem class, but in a very Fenton way” post, and i need to yell it out into the void.
Danny gets adopted by the batfam, but he’s like that with chemistry and mechanics and it gives them all a stroke. Especially Bruce. Doubly so if Danny is his bio kid or clone or something.
Danny has an allowance and he buys the most concentrated shit on the market with it because he got bored and wanted to see if he could re-create the fear toxin antidote he saw in the cave, especially since they seem pretty low on it. Do they have to get it from somewhere else? Danny knows the Waynes are rich, but there has to be a better way to do it than buying it for an arm and a leg. Maybe he’ll mess around and do the one for joker venom later.
Lab safety? Oh, yeah Dick, I’ve got my goggles and gloves and jumpsuit on. Of course I have the hood up. Turn on the vent? What vent? Why would I need a vent? Labels? Dude, look at it, it’s cetrimonium chloride. Oh, yeah, that’s the shampoo i got it from. You’d be surprised how many things you can isolate from household stuff.
Why would I use machines to measure this? Isn’t that for when you’re already busy doing something else? Yeah, like the centrifuge running over there. *gestures vaguely off to the left, to some abomination of mechanics* Whatddya mean that’s a safety hazard? It’ll stay together just fine; I made sure to use a new bike chain.
Where’s the rest of the blueprints? What do you mean “that’s it”? Aren’t there revisions and ideas? Where’s the reminders? Why’s there only one machine???
meanwhile the bats are wondering how the fuck the Fentons get literally anything done with lab safety apparently being a suggestion at best, and their storage system apparently being categorized by nine layers of nonsense and how violent the invention has the potential to be, if Danny’s ramblings are anything to go by. And Bruce “I need plans and contingencies for everything” Wayne is absolutely trying to not have an aneurysm from how much Danny just Does Things with no warning and no way that should feasibly work.

Prompt #26 (DP X DC)
Due to shenanigans with his parents inventions, Danny is now borrower sized, and on top of that, the weapon that shrunk him also blasted him through the portal and straight through a natural one. Now he’s in the DC universe and, staying invisible, he starts to explore, and learn as much as he can about this universe
He follows different superheroes, trying to figure out what to do in his tiny new form, and eventually gets found by one of the bats/birds, who is concerned about him being tiny, seemingly defenceless, in Gotham of all places, and take him back to the cave while he’s sleeping (“no, it’s not kidnapping it’s a safety measure”)
Danny wakes up in a jar on a table in the batcave, and, making sure that no one was looking, goes through the glass, and tries to leave, only to get immediately found by said bat/bird again. Danny gets taken back to the jar, which the bat/bird then reinforces to try make sure he can’t get out. He doesn’t phase through it until the member of the batfam leaves, not wanting to give away his escape secrets
Danny always complains that he can handle himself, and the bat/bird always argues against, and puts him back into the jar
This carries on for days/weeks, until the combination that makes it ghost proof gets used accidentally, at which point Danny sulks for ages

The WFA comic surpassing other Batman comics is so funny to me because in some way *we* kiiiiind of created part of that shit (legal disclaimer OBVIOUSLY I don't mean this literally, what I'm saying is that the fandom created certain fandom representations of batfam that then translated over to WFA). To be fair, Batfam definitely wasn't always grimdark. The fandom itself did not invent Good Dad Bruce and all the rest, the comics themselves did, buuut it definitely solidified many of the tropes that are seen in WFA and it's quite amazing to see how long it's taken DC to realize what the current audience is looking for in a Batman comic. Even writing fic in my own little corner has made me feel that I have influenced how the characters are seen even if it's in a small way. Your impact has been outsized ofcourse. Either way it's kind of a W? Kinda cool? We can always keep making fan works, so w/e DC wants to do is whatever to me. But it is nice to be recognized in a sense.
I think it's fantastic. Truly. So much of what appears in the series are common fanon tropes that have circulated so much that they genuinely are shared pieces. To me, it in no way feels like being mined for cheap ideas or anything like that. I am fully convinced that CRC Payne is a fanfic writer, on Tumblr or AO3 or FFN or wherever. (CRC if you're out there I love yoooou.) We already know Starbite is on here.
WFA feels like a small, miraculous little hat tip to all the passionate people who have poured their love into this strange family for decades, and I'm grateful for it.

Halloween prompts no 31 (part 2)
Red Robin was thrown through the air, landing safely in a crouch next to Robin, who had his sword ready, "So much for boring."
The entity preventing them from escavating the bones showed itself. The boy looked almost like a superhero, decked out in black in white and glowing all over. He even had a symbol on his chest resembling a comet. Maybe his powers were space themed when he was alive?
Then again the kid was claiming to be the ghost of the person they were trying to dig up for the investigation and the symbol did kinda resemble a sideways bedsheet ghost. Maybe he needed more coffee. At the moment it didn't matter, they needed to get this investigation on the way before more problems arose. The kid claimed to be the one to bury his own body here so he should have answers, right?
When asked why he chose to bury it on the Wayne estate he looked sheepish and admitted he didn't know it belonged to anyone, rather he thought it was city property or something. When asked why he didn't have his loved one bury him in a cemetery he got defensive, saying "They didn't mean to! It was an accident!" And "They'd never believe them!"
Instead of further answers they got a fight and were forced to retreat after thier weapons proved ineffective. A fact Robin hated.
They returned later after the teen had calmed down and he was willing to talk a bit more.
Appearently his parents were a pair of crazy mad scientists whose invention got him killed. The more Phantom talked the more curtain the entirety of the batfam were curtain this kids death was no accident.
The portal having an on button on the inside??? Being fed foods mixed with dangerous chemicals known to cause mental health problems and mutate people? Constant exposure to dangerous substances that the parents wear hasmat suits for but let thier kids be around unprotected? Trying to power household electronics and kitchenware with the same hazardous material? Phantom also described "check ups" his parents did from time to time that the ghost couldn't really understand. But the batfam did, and it made thier stomachs sick
It sounds like the parents had been expiramenting on the children.
Now the batfam are racing against the clock to try to get Phantom out of denial, cause now that he's gone they might turn all there focus on the surviving science expirement. The worst part is that the bats are right.

That Moment You Realize Adoption Bait Jokes Don't Really Work™️
This isn't to stop anyone from writing what they love, of course. Honestly it's not even really something I had thought about all that much until more recently. But just the other day I had been thinking about Bruce's children, and how he adopted them all and-
Bruce doesn't have a theme, I had realized with dawning shock. The only theme Bruce has is that he saw bits of himself in each one of his children and wanted to give them something better than what they had in life. Wanted them to be better than he was, as they deserved to be.
On top of that, only three of his six children actually have black hair and blue eyes. That's 50% odds. Can you really base a theme off 50% odds??? Sure Dick, Jason, and Tim might have the black hair, blue eyes theme going for them, but as much as we love them they are not the only Batfam members.
Damian has his mother's green eyes, and Cass is usually depicted with either brown, black, or grey eyes. Duke has either brown or hazel (sometimes even gold) eyes, from what I can tell. That's the other half right there.
If we counted Barbara or Stephanie, then the odds are even lower in favor for the black hair, blue eye theme. If we threw Harper or Carrie or Maps or Luke in for good measure, other members of the wider Batfamily, then the stats shrink some more.
How did I not realize this before???
Danny wouldn't stand out for having black hair and blue eyes. If he looked crazily similar to Bruce maybe, but he's just any other kid. Without good reason, and without seriously suspecting something was wrong with his homelife, Bruce wouldn't adopt Danny.
Bruce didn't even adopt Dick. He just fostered him for the whole time until he aged out of the system. I don't know if he's even been canonically adopted by Bruce. Tim literally tried to invent a fake uncle so Bruce wouldn't have to adopt him. And don't even get me started on Duke-
I just- how did I never notice this until now???

Curing Pit-Madness
I know we as a phandom love bomb-ass Danny coming in to the DCU and healing/fixing Jason's Pit Madness.
But Danny, as much as I love the boy, is pretty oblivious. Do you really think he'd recognize by looking at a person or ghost what's wrong with them? Because I dont. If it's too cold, he can't recognize a ghost directly in front of him.
I think itd make more sense if all Danny showing up did was let the BatFam know that ectoplasm existed.
One of them would realize ectoplasm and Lazarus pits were very similar.
Tim would mad scientist up some sort of invention for Jason. Maybe it'd give him ambient ectoplasm, maybe it would purify the pit water inside him, I don't know.
But Tim saving Jasons sanity? A perfect way to get rid of any lingering tension between Hood and his Replacement.

Dragon blood au!
Being half-dragon comes with its downsides. Of course Damian and Jason love looking more impressive than the rest of the Batfam when they're in dragon form (and so does Bruce, but he'll never admit it). But for every big feeling they feel their reptile parts answer the call faster than Alfred in the kitchen when he learns that Bruce is trying to make food.
For example:
Jason: Laughing and almost choking after seeing one of Roy's inventions blow up in his face.
Roy: Wiping his face "That's not funny Jaybird!"
Jason: Still dying of laughter when he hears the sound of clothes tearing appart. “Shit.”
Jason: Looking down at his feet to see the bottom of his pants and his shoes totally torn as his legs turned into dragon paws. "Again!?"
Or:
Damian: Annoyed because he can't paint correctly the idea he had for one of his drawings.
Damian: Breaks his brush in two before realizing that his hands have become all scaly and clawed. "Father! I'm going to need a new brush!"
Bruce: "Again!? I bought you a whole kit last week!!"

Same to you, Quo-tato!
Find an object near you and somehow fit it into any one of your wips and share!
Quo-tato Your nicknames are getting better and better
Tim nodded. “Yeah. Did anything happen? Why were you and Hood on the floor? And… is that guy over there having a seizure?” “May as well be by how fucking loud—”  Dick nudged Jason to get him to shut up. “Nothing, baby bird. It’s fine. You go home and… drink some cold water. Lots of it, in fact. We’ll tie them up.” Tim’s forehead creased by a fraction. “I…” “It’s nearly the end of patrol anyway.” Dick stood up, brushing himself off. “Oh, and have this.” He took a Kitkat bar from one of the secret pockets in his suit and threw it at him. “Thanks?” Tim still looked confused. Dick could feel Jason bubbling with curiosity beside him, but he waited until Tim shot them another suspicious look before grappling out.  “What the fuck was that, Dickwad?” Jason blurted out as soon as he was gone. “I have a plan.” Dick got to tying up the crims. “Care to share?” “Not right now, no.” He flashed a reassuring smile (which, he had been told, only led people to believe in mischief rather than assurance). “But soon.”
We love big brothers planning their little brothers' downfalls.
I saw a Kitkat wrapper near me which I forgot to throw it in the bin and so I incorporated that into the fic - which is a batfam one! I was gonna choose a Merlin wip, but Kitkats weren't invented then and I don't have any Modern reincarnated wips (yet) so...
~
Gonna tag some people to incorporate the first object they see around them into a wip and share a small snippet- No pressure tags: @pevensiechase @ah0yh0y @themundanemudperson @pericreatesstuff + anyone elseeeeeeeeee?

Been thinking about Dick Grayson lately...
And I find it weird how many people, myself included, kinda forget to properly talk about or analyse him as a character... like I am not saying that there aren't people that are still making wonderful analysis of this character, but... most of the conversations I encountered lately seem to be either headcanons or people proving the headcanons wrong (maybe that is just me and my luck when looking for Dick Grayson posts, lol). But, there appears to also be a new trend now where fanon went from depicting Dick as the "soft, sunshine, best older brother" guy to "lets make it all about his anger" guy because he apparently was more angry than any other Robin or something... and I am like:
Tumblr media
I am sorry but can people (both from fanon and canon at DC, because they are guilty of this too, especially in stuff like the New-52 and other recent comics) stop flanderizing characters for one second?? Like, seriously!!!
Why did some people go from Dick is the most "innocent, cute, sunshine, supportive" boy to almost only talking about him being angry, and being even more angry and violent than characters like Jason?? Like, I don't understand... where is the damn nuance?? People do realise that Dick can have his iconic moments of anger (especially and logically after his parents died and wanted justice for it or when he had his big disagreements with Bruce or when he almost beat up Joker to death when he thought he had killed Tim... for not saying that after he did that he felt super guilty, so...), and still be the serious and compassionate leader, that can also joke around and offer support to his loved ones, right?? Like, one of the main things that makes him so lovable as a character/person both for readers and for other in universe characters that interact with him is how easy going he is and how great it is to work together with him... and that also means taking things seriously when needed...
He is not always joking, he is not guided by rage either... he is a balanced character and honestly, one of the very few characters in the Batfamily (though I think it's actually him and Babs) that are actually good at being team players and leaders (that last one especially)... like Bruce, Jason, Tim and Damian, for the most part aren't... or at least aren't "natural born leaders" (ignoring that DC decided to transfer this quality to Bruce after because god forbid the Batkids have something that they are better at and that they didn't previously learn from Bruce, just fuck that... give more credit to my blue boy you cowards... and, yes, Tim did learn to be a better leader later, but the point is that Dick is pretty much the only "natural born leader" of the Batfam or at least of the main/male members of it... ok sorry for the side rant but it needed to be said...).
Also, why does DC keep inventing excuses to bring Dick back to the Batfam when he is doing just fine on his own in Blüdhaven or with the the Titans (wherever the Titans are, lol... still is weird and kinda bad that now their base is in Blüdhaven, but that is a topic for another day...). Like, I guess it worked when the whole Batman was lost in time thing was going on, and everyone else (mostly Tim and Jay, let's be honest) and Gotham were losing it and he was basically forced to take the Batman mantle... which he didn't enjoy at all... he did it out of a sense of duty to Gotham, to Bruce, to the Batman legacy and to Damian... if Bruce is there and most things in Gotham are under control this boy stays away and needs to stay away from all of it as much as possible for his own well being and so he can develop more as a character, also remember that one of the reasons why he left Bruce and Gotham was because Bruce was treating him more like a shadow that needs to follow him and his mission without question... so why would Dick want to go back to Gotham, when he desires to have his freedom and build his own identity and life outside of Gotham, Batman and Bruce... so obviously, he cannot be the "caretaker" of the Batfam... And like, I am not saying he is an ass or that he doesn't help the others, especially his brothers, but he really just needs to go to Gotham if the world is ending or if a case of his leads him there, that's it... (I mean he can go visit his family of course, but the main point is that canon should stop making dumb excuses to bring Dick back to Gotham constantly or to be Batman or something else along those lines... and lets be honest, now there are other characters that are better suited than Dick to take up the mantle of Batman either temporarily in emergency situations or permanently in the future).
The main point, just like with Tim and Jason (which I dedicated more posts to in my blog because I got into knowing them and their stories more recently...), is that there are more facets to these characters than just the takes that fandom and canon put on them that are more reduced, flanderized and that fit into a *insert certain character stereotype here* (not always but latelly I have noticed this trend in DC canon too) or the DC writers just alter the characters to fit a certain narrative they want (and when they do this, it is so annoying, never mind consistency and logical character actions and development...). And this just ends up doing more harm than good to these beloved characters... sometimes stuff like this really makes me wonder if certain people (fans and DC writers alike) even like or even actually give a shit about them, you know... like the version of this character that they keep talking/writing about is not them, it is actually a different character entirely with their face, name and hero identity... and it feels kinda hollow, tbh...
Also, how is my blue boy supposed to inspire hope into others if he is now "the angry one"... don't take this brilliant ability of his away, I beg you please to not popularize this view of the character... please?
I just want people to show more respect to my boys from a fictional family that wears bat and bird themed suits while fighting crime... is this too much to ask for?

Bestie idk if you heard but I'm giving TJ a restaurant owner headcanon dmmxxm he's just the embodiment of those angry Italian chefs who could out perform an opera singer
Sadly, his babies love those infamous 'Fuck Bruce Wayne' sandwiches of his, so they're destined to meet. TJ always gives him the shittiest chores
The only one who's on Bruce's side is Damian. TJ doesn't believe in veganism and just thinks Damian hasn't had a REAL, bonafide Gotham hot dog before, but he won't force it
Since I'm still reeling from your one shot earlier, I'm convinced he and martha spent hours inventing recipes together. Maybe he serves them, maybe it's too special, but when Batman crawls in his joint, looking half corpse half boy, there's a warm bowl of food waiting for him
Yes. Just- yes. Food as a love language is one of the most heartwarming things on earth period.
TJ would spit in someone's face but never in someone's food. Because if there was one thing his mother taught him, it's that food brings people together.
Now I'm imagining a young Bruce who'd give his brother his blueberries whenever he's hiding in the garden after fighting with their dad. Bruce has more berries around his mouth and clothes but the berries taste sweet on TJ's tongue, sweet enough to ignore the bitter anger a bit.
Every member of the batfam have at some point popped up in his restaurant for a bite. Sometimes they don't pay the bill the first time, but the second time, they'll always leave a generous tip for the staff.

Batfam AU Go!
Existing AU: Taking Flight!
"I thought of calling it something like my parents would, like the Ectoplasm Metaosmosis Circulatory Purification Vat, but without the name Fenton attached because I'm not a Fenton anymore and that would show it. Then I decided that was still allowing them to influence what I do, even out of spite. So I'm calling it the Zombie Spa."
Jason looked at the retrofitted jacuzzi filled with bubbling green fluid that looked far too close to the Lazarus pit for his liking. "You want to run me through this?"
"So what you guys call the Lazarus Pits are kind of like...cesspool runoff from the Infinite Realms." Danny began.
Jason felt immediately torn between amusement at the thought of Ra’s's precious Pits being interdimensional cesspools and disgust at the thought that he'd been dropped in one.
"And ectoplasm is metaphysically sticky. Once it's in something, even if it's not enough to have much of an effect, it does not let go. So when you absorbed all that corrupted ectoplasm when the pits did whatever it did to you, well, it's still there."
And disgust it was. Jason had the strong urge to go shower under scalding hot water, and not go for a dip in a hot tub filled with what looked like the exact same stuff.
"So getting the ectoplasm out of your system is one thing, and would likely have horrific side effects, but purifying it is a whole lot easier. This works through osmosis -which is not mitosis and I did not almost name this incorrectly because I confused the two terms- basically the contamination would diffuse through the ectoplasm in the Zombie Spa until it reached equilibrium with the contamination inside you. However, the ectofiltrators will be filtering it out, so the tub will quickly return to being corruption free, until there’s no more corruption in you.” Danny looked proud. Jason was still unsure though. “Just to err on the side of informed consent, what kind of horrific consequences are we talking about?” “Well, ectoplasm is a bit unpredictable,” Danny hedged. “But the two most likely scenarios are either parts of your personality and psyche get ripped out too, or it undoes what the pit did in the first place, which if I understand everything correctly, would leave you as a broken corpse.”
Yep, that qualified as horrific. “And how do you know this will work as intended?” Danny brightened and pulled out a plastic baggy with a green tinged sponge in it. “I got some of those ‘real sea sponge’ loofahs from the fancy bathroom place because absorbent organic material. Which is really kind of morbid? Scrub yourself clean with this animal’s corpse?”
“Most of those are from the cucumber gourd.” Jason explained. “Not at this place. Anyhow, I soaked some of the ‘natural sea sponge’ in the runoff that creates the Lazarus pits. Thankfully it didn’t come back to life because to tell you the truth, I have no idea how I would have dealt with that. If there’s one thing the ocean doesn’t need, it’s more ghosts.” Jason had several questions, none of them he was inclined to ask. Danny upended the bag into the Zombie Spa. Though the ectoplasm clinging to the sponge was initially the same color, upon contact with the purified ectoplasm it turned a much darker shade of green. The darkness spread in a tiny ring around it and the little devices on the outside of the spa clicked on. “Thankfully Ecto Filtrators are one of my parents' inventions I know inside and out.” Danny commented. “I mean, I don’t really understand the science of it, but I know the mechanics.” “You’re trusting one of your parent’s inventions?” Jason raised an eyebrow. Danny shrugged. ”This one, yeah. So for most ectoplasmic beings, ectoplasm is basically water. Our bodies are made up of it. It’s rarely in pure dihydrogen monoxide form, there’s at least minerals and stuff mixed in. Sure there’s nasty contamination you don’t want to touch, but for the most part it doesn’t matter if it’s not ‘pure’. For the portal, it matters. A lot. Like, any impurities whatsoever and it WILL explode. Absolutely take out the building, most of the block, at worst a few miles radius.”
Jason starred. “And when I started slacking on my chores due to superheroing, they put me in charge of changing the ecto-filtrator, so I got real familiar with it.”
“Back up.” Green seeped into Jason’s eyes. “They decided the best way to teach you responsibility was to put you in a situation where if you made one mistake, untold destruction and people's lives would be on your shoulders?”
Danny shrunk a little. “It’s not like they were the only ones.”
Right. Clockwork. But Jason couldn’t shoot Clockwork. And very few people in Gotham would blame him for shooting the Fentons.
“Anyways, see how the color’s equalized.” Danny drew Jason’s attention back to the Zombie Spa in a blatant attempt to change the topic. “The corruption's been drawn out and all contaminants in the filters. And no damage to the sponge, see?” He reached in and pulled out the sea sponge, which looked cleaner but showed no signs of damage. “We tested it a bunch of times too. Not just with sea sponges, I even tried it myself.” Danny was giving him a  look and it puzzled Jason a bit. If it looked like he was trying to be reassuring, or pleading with Jason to trust his work that would have made sense. But it looked more like Danny was hoping for approval. Why would he…
Oh he was definitely going to shoot Jack and Maddie Fenton. Danny was desperate for Jason to see that he had tested it, that he’d made sure it would be safe for Jason, in short that he was nothing like his parents, who’d been more than willing to gamble with Danny’s life rather than do any kind of small scale test run.
“Looks good kid.” Jason didn’t know if this would remove the Pit’s influence from him, but at this point he was willing to take the plunge if only to reassure the kid he trusted him. Undead bros had to stick together, after all.

Passive Ecto-contamination and how Jazz Fenton is probably classifiable as a meta in the DCU
So, I’ve been on a Danny Phantom and Batman crossover binge recently, and I have to say, we don’t talk enough about how likely it is that the entire Fenton family, but especially Jazz, probably has enough ecto-contamination to count as a meta-human.
This girl has lived her entire life around ectoplasm (bc Maddie and Jack were working with it before they were together and you know they don’t care enough about lab safety to have stopped when Maddie was pregnant or when Jazz was little) and her late teens living two floors above a dimensional rift. She may not be a halfa, but she is 100% not fully human after living her entire life being surrounded, and sometimes ingesting, ectoplasm and it’s radiation.
I think Jazz in particular would get some more passive ghost powers. She’s got her own obsession in her drive to be a psychologist, but I’m pretty sure she’s also tougher than a normal human. She can take blasts from Vlad pretty much on par with Danny, and while her parent’s inventions don’t work on her as well as they do Danny, the do still effect her. (Yes, I might be extrapolating from the vacuum gag, don’t @ me.)
Her eyes probably glow a bit in the dark, she heals faster than a normal squishy human, and she ages slower than she should if she weren’t ecto-contaminated.
All of this to say, that I 100% think that if they existed in the same universe, the Lazarus waters would just be, like, rancid ectoplasm that’s been cut off from the Zone but still retained its powers (probably because of all of the dead people shoved into it tbh) and that it would be really fuckin’ funny if a fully healthy Jazz Fenton was pushed into the Waters, only to come up spluttering and complaining about how gross that is.
small not-fic thing under the cut
Could you imagine. Like, I’m picturing Jazz had moved away to Gotham or Bludhaven and started dating Dick, only to wake up suspended over a very familiar glowing green pit. And the League of Assassins is reluctantly impressed with her apparent lack of fear when they explain what the waters are, but she just hangs there mentally groaning about how long it’s gonna take to wash her hair, and how much she’s gonna have to explain to her boyfriend once he gets here (and this is Jazz, she clocked that Dick was Nightwing almost immediately, the only thing that had tripped her up about Danny was the fact that Phantom was dead.) On the up side, she’ll no longer have to pretend to ignore all of the blatant signs of vigilantism that her boyfriend puts out. (Under the false bottom of a shared dresser drawer is not the best place to hide your electrified escrima sticks, is all she’s saying.)
So Nightwing and a few of the batfam come to save her and just as the fight seems to be turning she’s dropped into the pit. Dick is enraged, Jason took the opportunity to reload, Damien never stopped swinging, but then.
Splash splash. Coughing and spluttering. An irritated whine.
Everyone looks over to the pit where a very much Not Dead Jazz Fenton is wading out of the waters. She’s shuddering, and seems to be in some pain, but she’s rather nonchalant as she wrings out her hair.
Everything just. Stops. All of the assassins stare. The batfamily stare. Ra’s al Ghul isn’t thinking anything right now, as his brain needs to reboot, but afterward he’s gonna develop quite the obsession. One thought goes through every single person’s mind.
“What the fuck.”
Jazz looks around, tossing her still gross hair behind her to hit her back with a thwap, and she just looks around in mild concern.
Anyway, once they get Jazz back to Gotham and do the whole vigilante reveal (”yes, I know who you are.” “How?!?!?!?”) they realize that Jazz isn’t dead, but she isn’t in great shape either. She is supremely unconcerned, and texts Danny to get their parents out of the house for a few days so that she can take the Spectre Speeder and go see Frostbite.
Thus becomes the Batfamily’s crash course intro into Ghosts, ectoplasm, ecto-contamination, and the Infinite realms. Jason demands to come see these ghost healers too, it becomes a whole field trip. They get to the Far Frozen and that’s when Jazz has to do explanation round 2: yes, my little brother is the King of All Ghosts, which means that, despite being alive, I am also a  Lady of the Infinite Realms.

Heres someangst for you to make worse (or better lol)
DeadSerious Soulmate au where Danny came to the batfam for advise from the flock of detectives. He wanted to know how to deal with the situation with Vlad, the GIW and the Fentons without having to kill them or Vlad outing his secret identity or whatever.
Robin discovers that Phantom is his soulmate and being 10 and brought up as an assassin he does exactly what he was taught to do.
Damian returns two days later to a frantic batfamily and worried ghost and proudly declares all the problems neutralized.
Danny freaks and tells him "Say sike right now"
Danny drops his magical girl transformation and becomes human again, freaks out on Damian who looks like he sucked on a lemon because "Oh no I murdered my soulmates parents didn't I??"
Ok ok sooooooo.,
Danny rejects Damian after learning that Damian killed his parents and the people he wanted gone but not dead.
And is distrustful, hateful and a bit scared of his soulmate that killed his parents and is also a, y’know, killer.
Damian, being freshly pulled from the league, doesn’t like that Danny rejected him and says something like “you my soulmate you just reject me!” or something.
To which Danny says “Oh I the fuck will!” and shouts that Damian killed his parents for no fucking reason, and Damian says that it was the most efficient way, which has Danny straight dumbfounded for a few good seconds.
Then he explodes. Shouting that “You killed my parents because it's the most ‘efficient’ way!?”. Damian obviously says yes, and then Danny goes and says that the reason he even came to ask Batman for help is because he never wanted to kill them.
So no, the method Damian used wasn’t efficient at all. Which makes Damian mad, because this would mean he failed a mission(even though it wasn’t one in the first place).
Now this is the part where the rest of the Batfam step in, seeing how the situation obviously wouldn’t de-escalate on its own and instead just get worse. So now after they separate the two, one of the batfam(I dunno you choose) explains what Damian’s situation is and how he’s learning. To which, yea Danny can be sympathetic to that but Damian still murdered his parents.
To which batfam member is like, give him some time to adjust or something. But Danny is not having it, yea he can get why Damian did what he did, but that doesn’t excuse that he did it when he specifically came to the bats for a solution where no one dies.
So then they promise Damian would get punished(How it happens is up to you). So now Danny lives with the Batfam until he can find somewhere else to live(Even though the rest of the Batfam try to make him apart of the family) while doing his best to avoid Damian and when he can’t, he just ignores him -much to Damian’s chagrin-.
So after a few weeks of living with the Waynes (and ignoring Damian). There is one day when Damian was nowhere to be found (not that Danny was complaining). So Danny is just going about his business and enjoying not seeing Damian anywhere really and is trying to find Tim.(because he and Tim are coffee besties and there’s nothing you can say to change my mind)
So then he just realises that. If you want to find Tim, most of the time he’s probably in the Batcave. So he goes down since he knows it’s there and all, and sees the one person he really didn’t want to see that day. Damian is there talking to Tim while Tim works on…something. Even with Danny’s better than human eyesight, he can’t see much past a silhouette of what Tim is working on.
So Danny walks closer, catching the attention of both vigilantes (although one he is actively ignoring). While getting closer Danny can slowly see what Tim is working on taking apart, and what he sees causes him to freeze.
Because what Tim is taking apart.
Is one of his parent’s ghost inventions.
Before either vigilantes can greet him. Danny bolts over to where Tim is sitting and overlooking the machine, hastily takes it from Tim to check over if it really is one of his parent’s inventions, slowly places it down, turns to look at Tim while trying to contain the anger inside him and asks “Where did you get this?”
Tim, an empath: I feel like Danny is angry, and it would be a real not so brotherly move to throw Damian under the bus.
Also Tim: Damian gave it to me to look over.
Danny turns to look at Damian, and Damian, not understanding emotions and finally seeing that his Soulmate is acknowledging his presence. Say’s something like, “they weren’t using it” or “It would be put to better use in our hands”. (Or something else you can pick I guess)
And that. That caused Danny to almost drop his human form right then and there, but Danny catches himself before it can drop. Danny looks at Damian while giving him the most deadpan look he can, but his voice betrays the cold anger that he feels.
“I wish someone like you was never my soulmate”
Both Damian and Tim are shocked, and before either can do or say anything. Danny turns ghost and leaves Wayne manor.

Batfam in Hermitcraft?
Or just dc in general in Hermitcraft?
OH THAT SOUNDS FUN
batfam vacation in goofy minecraft server? this is a great scenario
something tells me tim would be a minecraft nerd so he’d instantly start nerding out about redstone with the redstone guys in the server. he’d be like oh my god… YOU invented that??? oh my god. holy crap. i’m in a server full of celebrities oh my god
dick is dick. he’d have fun getting along with the hermits and learning about their world and oh look what’s that. he’s playing total chaos and tcg. he’s getting his ass kicked but he’s having fun!
jason learns about the respawn system and goes damn you can be revived without repercussions here? unfair to me fr and then instantly takes a swan dive off the bdubs joint with an elytra
the batgirls would get along with the hermitgals i think since they’re all silly goofy ladies who happen to also kick ass! cleo teaches them the most annoying pranks with jevin as the unfortunate demonstration. hilarity ensues
damian claims he has no interest in engaging with this world and insists they should find a way back. but even he can’t hide his curious eavesdropping. he eventually gets roped into the minigames as well
bruce himself would at first be on edge but he sees all the kids having fun and he’s like yknow what i can let loose a little and check out these gorgeous buildings! something tells me that he would take a bunch of pictures of the kids in front of the megabases and such to keep as memories

Listen. I like a good ‘Comics Tim gets turned into Joker Junior’ fic as much as the next angst-loving Batfam fan. But given that Batman: The Animated Series Tim is just Jason Todd under a different name, on all counts - backstory, place in the Batfamily timeline, personality, right down to his career as Robin ending with his capture, torture and in at least one sense murder by the Joker (literal death vs the death of his sanity and identity) that doesn’t stick - I maintain that if we’re transferring this plot to the comics continuity, it should be Jason. Fifteen-year-old Jason. Aka Robin II, adopted by Bruce out of poverty with a dead mother and criminal father who was killed by Two-Face, aka exactly who Tim is B:TAS. It just makes more sense! And it’s no less interesting!
A warehouse explodes in Ethiopia. Bruce searches through the debris, shouting for Jason, his only thoughts the need to hold his son and a growing banshee wail that he’s too late, too late, too late. He can’t even find a body. Instead he finds Sheila, with minutes of her life to spare. She uses her last breaths to tell him the Joker took Jason away somewhere. Alive. His son is alive. Bruce can - no, will find him, whatever the cost.
He and Barbara, and Dick the moment he returns to Earth, devote every available second (and many that really aren’t available) to looking. For Jason, Joker, his associates, his sightings, any hint or scrap of evidence they can find. But they can’t find much. How they long for Joker’s usual obvious calling cards and attention seeking. Now it’s like he’s vanished into thin air, taking their Robin with him. It speaks of a higher purpose; this isn’t simply luring Batman into a trap, Joker has designs for Jason himself. Bruce shudders to imagine them. That only makes him more determined to find his child. He eats and sleeps as little as possible, lashes out and communicates more with glares and growls than words. He can’t take joy in anything. He can’t give up, he can’t… he doesn’t know how he’ll go on if he’s lost Jay forever.
In the movie, Tim’s captivity lasts three weeks. In the comics, Bruce’s downward spiral after losing Jason lasts six months before Tim interrupts it. I think it’ll need to be a few months here to be long enough for Tim to get involved - you can go with the full six if you want, for maximum angst. Barbara was also already Oracle by the time Jason died, attending his painfully small funeral in a wheelchair, so Dick is out on the streets with Bruce. Tim Drake observes Bruce’s declining mental health and wants to help, as in the comics. He doesn’t become Robin here, but he does volunteer his detective services to aid in the search and grow close to the Bats.
They find Jason. The Joker dies. He takes a part of all of them with him.
Think of the fanfic potential! How does Jason’s recovery go? Does he want nothing to do with vigilantism anymore, not trusting himself to be a hero due to having such severe lifelong trauma, or eventually invent a new heroic identity like Flamebird or Phoenix? If he doesn’t resume fighting crime, what does he do instead? How does the Batfamily as a whole recover and evolve? Does Bruce ban child vigilantism or try to? To what extent do the others agree? Does Jason give Tim his blessing to be the next Robin? When Steph, Cass, Damian and Duke show up, how do their journeys unfold with Jason present as a sibling and role model and Bruce wanting perhaps even more to prevent or at least delay them from frontline crimefighting? How does how the expanding Batfamily operate? Wait, now there’s no Joker to poison Elaine and Doug Thomas’s minds, does Duke even get into crimefighting or associate with the Bats, and if so, how and why? You see how many questions I got just out of the aftermath? How are there no fanfics about this already?!
