Maybe my favorite run of Goose shows I've gotten to see in person so far was the summer 2022 Colorado run. It was only the second time I got to see the band live, post-COVID, and the first time had been earlier that same year, in February.

I actually wrote a ton about that experience and the 2/3 "Rosewood Heart" jam awhile back, if you're interested for some reason. The short version is that I saw four shows (one in Bend, two in Portland, and one in Seattle) and they were not only my first full, two-set Goose shows, they were also some of the first shows I saw after lockdown. They were great shows and I'll still put any of them on during a long road trip to this day, but the (indoor) venues were super-packed, COVID was still a major concern, I was traveling during work which is always really stressful to pull off, and it was February, which is always a sort of doldrums-y part of the year for me.

Cut to the Colorado run, which I decided to drive halfway across the country to do in a fit of manic Goose fandom (and a desire to climb 14ers in the Rockies for a week, to be honest). It was during my summer break, the weather was amazing (no smoke, at least), all the venues were outdoors so the COVID risk was much lower and the crowds were much more spaced out, and I was able to get a great, cheap AirBnB for four nights and alternate between commuting to the shows and scrambling up mountains. It was awesome.

The first two shows were at Dillon Amphitheater in Dillon, and the third show was the band's sold-out debut at Red Rocks. The first Dillon show was on a shockingly-cold-for-August, rainy night but was an amazing experience nonetheless. For one thing, they played this version of "The Labyrinth," which was (and is) one of my favorite Goose songs.

There isn't any real "jam" or improvisation here to write about at length, as the song is a composed instrumental, but I found this video of it on YouTube and thought I'd share a bit of my own story of this run.
