Why i believe Gojo could come back

This chapter left us in a devastated state and was absolutely uncalled for, but I personally believe this isnt the end of the strongest sorcerer. There are several reasons as to why (These are just opinions, I could be wrong in certain areas AND personal feelings might make an occassional appearance.)

LEAKS:

This whole panel was obviously made for a reason. And we dont see gojo making a decision. Considering the fact that this is literally THE Gojo Satoru, he's more likely to choose north since there's numerous things left as plot holes. We'll get to that.

Here in this page, he mentions that Toji should've cut his head off to actually kill him. In the leaks, whats cut off is his upper body but not the head! I still can't quite wrap my head around RCT but lets say he's not able to heal himself. You know who can and who would? Yuta and Shoko

Now moving on

"Gojo then bids farewell to everyone." If hes truly gone then why would he be bidding farewell to the fallen comrades? If he's dead then isn't he supposed to stay in the afterlife with them?

What if Kashimo is going in to distract Sukuna while Shoko and Yuta can heal Gojo?

Now think about this. Gojo is gone, Shoko doesnt fight and who are all left? A bunch of sorcerers who are literally under 20, need guidance and we havent really seen any panel where they actually plan how they're going to go about in the whole battle. Gojo isnt a want, hes a NEED, a NECESSITY.

Remember, Toji who was dead long ago pretty much appeared out of nowhere in Shibuya Arc LMAO so- yes

Theres no way Gojo would be left sealed for 3 whole years, brought him back just to kill him off in the most disrespectful way possible.

Besides, things that Gojo wanted to do haven't happened yet.

He wanted to tell megumi about his father

He wanted to see his students surpass the strongest sorcerer, aka him

He wanted to get rid of the higher ups

He wanted to properly mourn suguru (for which kenjaku has to be defeated but oh well)

He wanted to save Megumi

How'd we know what Gojo said here.

On to the other aspects of why killing off Gojo was a bad idea. We barely ever saw what happened to him, and an off screen death to the so called strongest sorcerer is just senseless. Gojo is a fan favourite. People started watching the show for Gojo (myself included) and there's a high possibility of multiple people dropping the manga since he isn't even there anymore.

The ending could take a turn for the worse considering the fact that Sukuna is just overpowered and Kenjaku hasn't done anything as of now. Unless there's some heavy plot armor I dont think the students even stand a chance against Sukuna and Kenjaku. Both outcomes- the students and others emerging as victors or sukuna emerging as a victor could make the ending absolutely terrible and this might as well top AOT for being the manga with the most disliked ending.

Gojo Satoru is the mentor for multiple; for Yuji, Nobara, Megumi, Yuta, Maki, Panda, Toge and the third years and its necessary for them to have someone to teach them. It is one of Satoru's wishes to see his students surpass him, which can happen only when he's there since there's nobody else who is actually capable of teaching them and leading them into the world as actual graduated sorcerers.

So Gojo dying will make the manga take a turn for the worse. Killing him off in the middle makes absolutely no sense and is just plain bad writing. People are prolly gonna kill me for this but lets admit the truth. Hyping this battle, building up tension just to finish him off screen is NOT good writing.

Anyways. There is factual proof of Gojo potentially making a return. Maybe at a cost, like him losing his power, losing his "strongest" title or anything else. He may not even be the same anymore but honestly as long as he's back, I'm fine.

It happened previously, and could happen again.

Satoru Gojo may not be the strongest and the honoured one, but may be reborn as a newer version of himself after getting humbled. Lotuses, as mentioned above symbolise rebirth, which is why i believe this is not the end.

A small bit of advice for gojo fans: Go watch haikyuu or highschool babysitters as a form of self care <3

which character is not as morally good as everyone else seems to think?

i'm going to bend the terms of this question a little bit, so that i can talk about how little i vibe with a common way of writing luna - the one which presents the things she believes as correct, and the rest of the world as simply too narrow-minded to see it.

this turns luna into - essentially - a flawless clairvoyant, working tirelessly to get others to see the truth, and it therefore turns her canonical naivety, stubbornness, inability to accept that she might be wrong, and refusal to consider multiple viewpoints into displays of moral fortitude.

instead of what they actually are... flaws. all of which have made her a conspiracy theorist, rather than the one person in the world who gets it.

i'd be really interested in a fic which takes this aspect of luna's character seriously - whether it looks at her beliefs becoming more entrenched, or thinks about what it would be like for her as she began to drift away from the certainties of her conspiracist thinking. i'd also like to see fics take the implication of canon that she is - to some extent - indoctrinated by her father seriously. and - of course - i'd also like to see the crack fics of luna managing to genuinely convince swathes of people to get into snorcack hunting...

i'm not interested one bit in manic-pixie-dream!luna.

what does everyone else get wrong about your favourite character?

snape is not a good occlumens because he's emotionally controlled. nor because he's emotionally repressed.

he's good occlumens because he's incredibly petty.

contrary to its fanon interpretation, occlumency is not building a mental fortress - putting up an occlumency shield/wall isn't a thing [and, indeed, can't be - because then the legilimens you're protecting your thoughts from would realise that you were doing this...] - and nor is it the total control of any emotion other than bland calm.

occlumency is, essentially, being able to lie [or, at the very least, to bend the truth] fluently - and to manage your emotional response [including responses which appear to be unstable, like glee, anger, or sorrow] with sufficient ease that nobody ever guesses that you're lying or withholding information.

this requires a certain level of performativity. it also requires a certain level of self-awareness - and, especially, self-awareness of your negative characteristics. one of the reasons why i think harry isn't a good occlumens is because - while he's a very good liar when he knows that what he's saying is exclusively a lie - he's prone to righteousness in situations in which he knows [or thinks he knows] that what he's saying has any level of truth to it. he finds it incredibly difficult to hold his temper - that is, to manage his emotional response, or to perform anger, rather than letting it overtake him unrestrainedly - in front of people like snape or umbridge because they're wrong in how they interpret his views and behaviours, and this is something which he never learns [during the canon series, at least] to not be provoked by.

but snape is clearly aware that he has a tendency towards delighting in the misfortune of others - as well as an evident loathing for people who think that they're cleverer than he is, whom he loves misleading.

and it's this which makes him such a good occlumens - he likes lying, especially to people who are arrogant enough to believe that they've got him all figured out.

or, as he puts it in half-blood prince:

“You think he is mistaken? Or that I have somehow hoodwinked him? Fooled the Dark Lord, the greatest wizard, the most accomplished Legilimens the world has ever seen?”

he has - of course - done just that. and he clearly finds it enormously entertaining - thereby making him relaxed enough to allow him to manage his emotional performance while lying - that both voldemort and bellatrix never seriously consider the fact that this might be the case...

Hi there! I wanted to follow you recently because I really enjoyed some of your stories! But after seeing some of your recent posts/responses to multiple messages (I've never sent one, or I wouldn't be here) even as a passive viewer, I've felt kind of awkward and put off by them.

As I'm sure you're thinking, this is of course YOUR space and you are certainly allowed to do/say whatever you'd like! But if you're trying to build a page/cultivate a community of people who enjoy the same characters/shows and share our thoughts/stories about them, and ask people's opinions or for requests, it really doesn't help to scold or make fun of the people who've chosen to follow or support you because they liked your stories or content. Especially if it's in response to them trying to interact with you. Imagine being nervous to send someone an Ask or message (one that is polite and benign, not insulting) and then their response is to admonish you for not doing it "right"... 🙈

Of course NO ONE has to answer requests or do anything they're not comfortable with! But there are also different ways to handle or respond that don't come off so rude. And I'm only bothering to say anything because I'd want to know if I was posting things that I didn't realize were coming off that way to people. And I see a couple similar writers you've mentioned doing the same. I've witnessed other fandoms devolve into "mean girl" vibes and cliques, talking down to the very people who follow them (which is SO weird considering this is an online space for adults, discussing *fiction* and shouldn't be that serious). Just a friendly suggestion from a casual viewer that it seems things like this could go in that direction. Unless that's the vibe you're going for 🤷🏻‍♀️

going back , heesung may try to build a rapport with his crush through means of showing interest in what his crush is currently doing. he may also be attentive to them and would even do some research about the person's likes and dislikes. the lyrics "you are the light to my darkness , i just realized it" from queen of tears ost kept on replaying in my mind. heesung will see his crush in a dreamscape way and how this person made him feel inspired. i sensed that he may tend to have an idealistic view of someone , lost in clouds. it's like he believes that something beautiful could come out between him and his crush.

i'm also getting as to how heesung might get lost in his own thoughts or fantasies about his crush. i felt that his feelings could get a little bit scattered , leading to moments of not knowing how to act in front of his crush. he may also overthink the possibilities of being together with the person he likes and how it makes him feel lost or even confused. because of it , he may come across as someone distant ? it's also possible that he may have multiple crushes at the same time. How do you feel satisfied/happy with your art style? Whenever I draw with my current art style, I find it too "cartoony" and "less detailed" than any other artist I've seen, which is a bit of a dumb thought I know. I think I want to pursue a more semi-realistic/realistic art style, but I'm not sure where to start.

See, I'm not even sure if I'm ever satisfied with my art style as a whole! Really, it's more of just the question of if I'm satisfied with each drawing/art piece I finish ^^ I see a lot of people saying they want to "find their style" (which is totally fine!) but I think an art style is more of something that just kinda develops over time, rather than being something you actively pursue? I could be wrong with this but that's been my experience over my time as an artist. I think it's great to pursue improvement, even if you become satisfied with your current art (though I've yet to meet an artist that feels like they've figured everything out lol, all my artist friends are always trying to learn more and improve in different areas!). An art style, if I'm interpreting the term correctly, is just like. what you default to when you're drawing! It's what your comfortable doing and creating with, right? So, the more you try new things and expand your experience, the more varied and flexible your art style will become! More tools in the tool belt!

That being said, if you want to pursue an art style that's a bit more realistic, I think it's best to start by working from life/photos! I've said this before on my blog, but practicing a bit of realism will do wonders to help you learn! The more you practice that realism, the better your brain will be at picking up the proportions and shapes that are used, the way the volumes look at different angles in a 3D space, and how that translates to a 2D drawing :) Maybe try doing some simple still-life drawings, to help you get in the practice of drawing what you see?

Here's some exercises I did in school that you could try out, if you want!

Choose something to draw that's not gonna move: a book, a shoe, an apple, anything! Get your paper and pencil, lock your eyes on your chosen object, and don't look at the paper while you draw. This is an exercise to help you think about exact angles, distances, etc when you draw something you see. The end result is not pretty lol, but it's a good exercise to really get you focused!

Choose something to draw, or multiple things, and draw the edges of it. No inner contour lines! Focus on the negative space around the object(s). So it's actually less of drawing the object, and more of drawing where the object isn't. This is gonna help with judging proportions and distances when you draw!

Try drawing something without lifting your pencil. Use one continuous line! Full honesty I don't remember what this does to help but I remember it being a fun exercise lol

These exercises might not help with developing an art style quickly, but I think they could help in learning to draw from life, and that will hopefully help in building skills that you can incorporate into your style :)

Day 28 - Superhero AU

Note(s): I remember the requester wanted Reader to be like Spider-Man. So here you go!!

She was sitting on the balcony of her apartment, working on a new book. One about the city's new "hero", one with powers that seemed only possible in make belief. Susato could hear Ryunosuke and Herlock talking about rather you're truly a hero or not from inside. Of course with them being an attorney and detective, they definitely have interesting opinions on you. Susato doesn't quite know what she thinks.

"Don't forget that I'm super attractive too." Susato jumps and she hears an added, "Oops." from above her. She frowns as she sees where she ended up splattering the ink across the page from her fright before she glances upwards and sighs at seeing you above her, sticking to the wall.

Susato chooses to ignore your comment as she tries to clean her mess. Another reason why she doesn't know how to feel about you is because you seem to always show up around her. You make all these silly comments and while she finds some amusing, she really wishes she knew what you were doing.

"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you. Well, I did, but I didn't mean to ruin your writing," you apologize and Susato just gives a sigh before she sets her writing aside.

"I'm surprised you decided to come here. You do know that the world's greatest detective and attorney are inside? If they saw you then they might have you arrested," Susato states as she looks at you in the colorful spandex costume you wear.

"They'd need to catch me first," you reply and with how your mask shapes, she imagines that you're giving her a smile underneath. "But they can't arrest me. I haven't done anything wrong today," you tell her and Susato hums at that and points to the radio nearby.

"To me, it sounded like you ended up committing multiple counts of property damage to stop some rhino," she points out and you give a shrug.

"Technically, it was the rhino's fault. And no one was harmed, I made damn sure of that." You sounded proud as you spoke. It is true that those that you save always speak favorably about you. You're a hero to many. But with the property damage she mentioned earlier and the villains that show up in hopes of taking you down, it's easy to see why there are others that would like you to be stopped.

"Right..." Susato turns away from you to begin gathering her things up. While she does find talking to you to be pleasant, she is still undecided with how she feels towards being friendly with you. Well, she doesn't mind being friendly, but you aren't exactly the most innocent even if people claim you to be a superhero.

"Aw, leaving already? Don't you want to interview me or something? I'm sure it'd make your book so much better than it probably already is," you say, giving a bit of a whiny tone to your voice as if to convince her. Susato can't help a small smile at your words.

"Or I'll have the police questioning me about how I got so much information about you." You give another shrug at her words.

"Can I at least get you flowers or something for scaring you earlier?" Susato definitely didn't expect that request from you. She can't help how her face flushes from the idea of you getting her flowers. "How's this, I'll go get a pretty bouquet of flowers and meet you in the alley close to this apartment. I'd show up at the front door, but I don't really think either of us need that attention."

Susato doesn't really get to respond before you push off of the building and free fall. She feels her heart leap in terror before she watches as you swing away. Maybe another reason she is undecided towards her feelings is because you continue to scare her. She just takes a deep breath and straightens herself out. Susato thanks Iris for lending her the writing utensils before she walks down the steps of her apartment to the front door.

She doesn't see you yet, but she walks towards the alley anyway. While there is a part of her that's nervous about coming across any crooks hanging out there, she is confident in her own martial arts to defend herself. But it doesn't seem like she has to as you're already in the alley, hanging upside down with the bouquet of flowers.

"Are you okay to do that? Doesn't the blood rush to your head?" Susato asks you, a tad worried as she takes the flowers. The mask moves again and she knows you're smiling.

"It's fine, that already happens whenever I see you." The reply that comes from you is so fast and Susato feels like she might be lightheaded by the flirt. A chuckle comes from your lips, enjoying making her flustered and she has half a mind to toss you across the alley in retaliation.

"Well, thank you for the flowers. And I do forgive you from earlier," she tells you and watches as you give her a thumbs up. Well, from her perspective, it's a thumbs down, but she knows what you're doing. Susato smiles again and moves to walk away, only to stop at hearing your voice.

"What, no kiss goodbye?" You tease her and she blushes more. She knows that you are just messing with her about the kiss. Despite all your flirting, you wouldn't force something like that. And still, she can't help but want to get you back somehow for all the teasing.

She hears your breath hitch as her hands move to the sides of your mask and begin to pull it down slightly. While there is a temptation to just remove the mask completely, she knows better. Your lips are revealed to her and she leans in, as if she's going to kiss you, before pecking your cheek and moving away.

Susato has a furious blush on her face from her actions as she walks away from you without saying a thing. There's silence from behind her before some laughter. She can't help her own small smile as she hears the sounds of you swinging away. Maybe she's not so undecided in her feelings towards you.

I'm wondering and I honestly need an opinion here: Why do I feel SO endlessly sad and incomplete whenever I think I might NOT be a system?

It even seems a little morally wrong, I'm afraid I end up subconsciously faking it because of that feeling :(

Any suggestions why I feel this way and what to do to improve?

Whenever I "believe" that I'm a system, that feeling stops and becomes a VERY great joy, but I also have very few traces that I might be a system and most of them can be explained, in some way, by BPD. I feel like this feeling is the only thing keeps me questioning myself, so I want to know what it could be :,D

Hey, so we don’t know you personally, and there could be a ton of different factors as to why you feel this way! Off the top of our head though, we can think of a few potential reasons:

1) The community.

The plural community isn’t exactly tight-knit, but it’s pretty active and uplifting, from our experience! There’s a broad variety of systems with different experiences, sharing their stories and building connections with others who they can relate to. If a singlet were to immerse themselves in plural spaces and surround themselves with plural culture online, it makes sense that they might start to wonder if they themselves are a system, or wish they could be a system so that they can belong to the community.

Many singlets do become plural later in life, through consciously creating their system, having a spiritual awakening, or simply viewing their sense of self through a different lense. And we honestly think that a singlet immersing themselves into plural life might cause them to be drawn towards creating a system, or believing they already are one.

2) The framework.

For some people the concept of being multiple, having more than one presence in their own mind, is reassuring, hopeful, and beneficial for their mental health. It may help ease depression or chronic feelings of loneliness. For these folks, even if they did not develop a dissociative disorder as a child, they may still choose to create a system. In our master post we have some resources on different types of plurality.

We know someone personally (our wife!) who created a willomate because the plurality framework worked for her and helped her to better deal with issues of loneliness and self-hatred. It’s been an amazing journey for her, and her willomate is such a delight! 💖

3) Symptoms of something else.

There are many symptoms of different mental illnesses that may look like plurality or systemhood at first glance. DPDR, identity confusion, weak sense of self, depression, anxiety, amnesia, racing thoughts, intrusive thoughts, and all sorts of other potential symptoms of dissociative disorders can manifest in different mental illnesses too. Some people may think that plurality best explains their symptoms, when they’re actually dealing with something completely different (like a personality disorder, a non-dissociative trauma disorder, mood disorder, or comorbidities of multiple disorders).

In plural spaces, we do admit there is a big rush to convince people they are plural at all costs. For vulnerable people who are dealing with a serious mental illness, this culture of “radical acceptance all the time with no exceptions” may convince them that they’re plural a bit prematurely. It ties back into our first point; someone may be lonely/dealing with mental illness, they stumble into the plural community, they are convinced that they are plural by their peers, and as a result, they’re unable to receive treatment for the mental illness that is actually at the root of their troubles.

4) Maybe you really are plural.

In the end, only you can decide for yourself whether or not you’re a system. Our master post (hyperlinked in our second point) has plenty of resources for questioning systems. If you truly think you may be plural, we recommend checking out those resources, preferably beginning with the CDD-specific ones. Doing lots and lots of research is essential to learning more about plurality and ultimately discovering if you are plural.

Remember, you don’t have to be a system in order to be loved, cherished, and respected for who you are. And even if you realize you’re not a system, you’re still welcome here on our blog. This space is system-focused, but respectful singlets will always be welcome here.

Maroon's Diary - training with Rin, part 2

Day 8 - The second week of Rin's training starting off with a lil quiz. Of course she wasn't looking forward to it. I am trying here-- I even turned this quiz into a multiple choice one where you just have to choose between A, B, C, etc. but even then she wasn't very focused on it! On the bright side, she at least faired better than the written tests, meaning she did learn. That's somewhat of a relief. What wasn't a relief was that I felt her body very slowly but surely increase in temperature. I thought it was a cold at first, but if I'm wrong the next day me might correct me on that.

Day 9 - Turns out her valves were already partly broken from going too hard using her powers during the song contest. It was partly my fault as I was the one who had control over those instead of her. But she wasn't fully out of blame here the moment we found out she hadn't put that collar on for a while. I scolded her heavily-- I somewhat felt bad for that, but even so she had taken a heavy risk and she could've risk her nightmare coming to fruition, burning her and her friends and her family to ashes without wanting to. Luckily, that was prevented as we straight up upgraded her valves. Don't tell her, but I also upgraded her entire aura channel system. She's now bedridden for the entire day, but at least she has a caring family now and Miku to help her out.

Day 10 - This was the first day she was training after I had to fix her valves and I'm honestly wondering if this is the same Rin that I danced with back in the singing competition. She used to be so carefree when it comes to training and now she's taking this seriously, more serious than before-- even did some genuine studying for once by reading the guide and she used to hate it. Did the issue from yesterday worry her to the point of taking it seriously?

Day 11 - We didn't do much that day as I saw that the whole situation from two days ago worried her. We went to go play games, to the amusement park and even went and grabbed some fast food over on our local fast food restaurant.

Day 12 - I'm really proud of her right now for this and I might be for a while, she seemed to have mastered controlling the output of her powers, which is good because she needs that fine control, which also means she's closer to being in full control. Although there's still one hurdle she has to overcome.

Day 13 - Almost a week ago she was struggling making a fireball. Now with some focus she was able to pull it off! I absolutely nailed the vibe I was aiming for, it's another stack of guilty-pleasure tropes wearing a trench coat to masquerade as a Serious And Dramatic Story, and I'm so in love with where the plot is going. The third chapter is slated for Day 8 of Whumptober and then I probably won't have time to post the fourth until after October, but, like... the fourth chapter is going to have the best fucking suckerpunch of a plot twist that I think I've ever come up with. I've already planned multiple sequels. I have notes on a goddamn novel's worth of content already, and I got so sucked into the world building that it's hardly even funny anymore. This absolute beast of a fic is the one I was hinting at in this post. I'm not even salty that it's growing out of control, because I think it might end up being, like, my fandom magnum opus. I have so many feels right now. XD

Red or blue, they’re both still stripes on a rag waving over stolen lands that comprise a country built by stolen lives. We don’t dismiss the reality that, on the scale of U.S. settler colonial violence, even the slightest degree of harm can mean life or death for those most vulnerable. Voting is not Harm Reduction It accurately points out that the idea of "'voting as harm reduction' obscures and perpetuates settler-colonial violence," to which I'd add it also obscures the oligarchic control and self-reinforcing class and race structure of the system. That is, it does so if that is the only thing you do, and that you continue to give that lesser evil a pass on the evil they do. The whole concept makes the presumption that the only action that one can take is voting (or otherwise working within the government structure)... and that not voting has a larger effect than voting. It's like a secular version of Pascal's wager. If voting has no effect because both parties are the same, then I might as well vote, since it won't make a difference. However, if voting does have an effect, particularly one that "can mean life or death for those most vulnerable," then I should vote. The absurdly low individual cost to me of voting makes the ethical math worse. To explicitly choose to not vote when that result could literally mean the difference between life and death to someone in a more vulnerable position than myself is a staggering amount of arrogant privilege. HOWEVER. That does not mean -- and has never meant -- voting is enough. It also does not mean that the party/group/individual I voted for cannot be criticized when it does awful stuff. That idea -- exemplified by the GOP's term "RINO" to get people to toe the ideological line -- is closely associated with fascist rulers (see: Russia, China, North Korea), so... yeah, I'm gonna criticize "my side" when they're wrong. That's all we need to say about that. But voting also still isn't enough. There are many ways to take political and social action, and if you can't think of any, there's local and national groups that I'm sure would be happy to have your help. I don't just mean PACs and political parties (though they're certainly included). Here's some other examples: Dayton's Have A Gay Day is not an explicitly political group, but they definitely have an impact in our area not only in supporting those who need assistance, but in promoting equality. If there is a benefit I gained from reading "Voting is not Harm Reduction," it is remembering that direct action does not mean it has to be explicitly within the political process and that voting -- even when it does reduce harm, is not enough. Hm. In general, I'm always pretty proud of the worldbuilding I do. Part of it, I think, is just that I was dealing with too much at the time. I was railing against the concept of manipulation with no nuance due to the relationships I was being subjected to, especially because multiple people were calling me manipulative to hurt me at the time. You can even see this in my old characters, where I'd always have at least one person who was wise to the cruelty and openly disdainful.

Obviously, now, I write manipulators basically everyday. Hi, Jhin! Hi, Kabru! Hi, [insert OCs] here! And they're all very different, of course, because manipulation on its own doesn't mean much. I could guide someone into giving someone else a scholarship, and I could also make it so they'd never consider giving that money away. (General I, not me. I can't persuade anyone-)

If you can recognise that Lucien was taken advantage of by having to go in Tamlim’s place, use the same logic and just apply it to the other character, you don’t need to like him to do that, just make an effort to not be an hypocrite.

Sorry for the rant, but sometimes I cant help but be deeply disturbed by some really incoherent takes that are posted here, and I need a place to just express my frustrations 🫠

Oh I definitely feel you - unfortunately this kind of disconnect is kind of par for the course with SJM works because of her way of building narratives. Rhys and Lucien are victims of assault because them being male assault victims absolved them - in Feyre's eyes - of wrongdoing committed against her. I think @worldsnotsaid has a great post about this (sorry for the tag but they have a great link tree on the blog about some of these issues) - where abuse in ACOTAR isn't bad because abuse is bad, abuse is bad because Feyre is good. So characters that hurt Feyre need to be redeemed some way because she is good and people who dont or cant protect her are bad - even though Lucien risked his life multiple times and was actively punished for trying to help and protect Feyre when she was held prisoner by Amarantha, he is "tainted" with his loyalty to Tamlin, who is positioned as the narrative's bad actor. At the beginning of ACOWAR, Lucien tells Feyre he's sorry that he prioritized the guy he's been close personal friends with for hundreds of years and who is also his boss over Feyre, whom he has known for a year and whom he believed to be kidnapped by someone who had actively assaulted her, someone with the ability to brainwash her. Then it is revealed that Lucien was raped (because the biracial disabled faerie who watched his fiance get fridged while his family held him down doesnt have enough trauma) and THEN Feyre decides that he was good all along and is worthy of help. This is a pattern: the reveal that Rhys never wanted to be Amarantha's right hand man and that he was forced to have sex with her as part of "the mask" immediately absolved Rhysand of any bad actions he committed against Feyre. Now they "share" trauma and can reminisce about how a sanctuary for SA survivors is a healing place for both of them... even though Rhysand is the cause of Feyre's sexual trauma.

The problem with this narrative is that SJM can't acknowledge that Calanmai involves rape by its very nature because then she'd have to acknowledge that Tamlin is a victim, and he can't be a victim, because he is not good. That's why Ianthe specifically had to get involved when Lucien enacts Calanmai - because Ianthe is Bad and if it were any random female then we might get close to acknowledging that hey, Calanmai is pretty fucked up, isn't it? Maybe we shouldn't frame Tamlin as being sexually aggressive since the only time he's ever shown acting in a sexually aggressive way is when he gets roofied because that is a super necessary part of this yearly ritual for some fucking reason.

It's incredibly fucked up. I hate hate Hate HATE the idea of rape as redemption or rape as a means of empowerment and I don't understand why authors fucking do this. And again - I'm of the opinion that Tamlin doesn't need redemption in this narrative. He needs to be on meds for PTSD and chronic depression but he's not evil. Only... he has to be because if we acknowledge Tamlin as a sympathetic character then it breaks the entire world of ACOTAR because it means that people who aren't nice to Feyre can also have trauma and be victims.

I understand your point but "Rape" is not about interpretation. The book has multiple rape scenes, worse are the vegaspete ones where pete actually passes out because of the pain of being rape multiple times. I was thankgul on how the series handle it but still we cannot dismiss the abuse. We can like the fictional story but minimizing the abuse on it is not how to. The whole separate art from the artists for me doesn't work when you see the abuse the actors went through. Like I said, is not up to interpretation on the books (especially those authors have several of them) there are multiple rape scenes and people needs to acknowledge the issue with it because those scenes are made as romantic when they were not and people needs to understand why that was wrong.

Listen anon, I'm not going to claim to have read the books or all the official content, so I have no idea how severe or explicit the rape depicted is. But. My general stance on the topic of non-consent or problematic themes in fiction is this; it's the responsibility of the individual, and not the collective, to be accountable for their own experiences and evaluations of media. Basically I believe it's your job, JUST YOURS, to evaluate what you think and feel about something, not someone else's, certainly not a whole horde of people online. You cannot put the burden of moral integrity onto the popular masses. It doesn't work like that. You cannot stand on a soap box and demand that everyone acknowledge how right or wrong something is. it doesn't work like that.

It's not our job as a fandom to stand around talking about how problematic things are in the content we're fans of, as though we have something to be ashamed of. It's not our job, as a fandom, to apologize for the things we like being less than perfect representations of whatever they're popularly representing. It's not our job as a fandom to enjoy the content we enjoy with a big disclaimer slapped in front of it.

It IS our job as a fandom to curate our own, individual experience. And that can look like many things! Discussing the problematic aspects of the problematic things depicted is awesome, I wholeheartedly support you wanting to discuss the problematic themes and relate them to the real world in meaningful ways! It's good media analysis, honestly! But it also doesn't give you a relative moral high ground for choosing to do so, just like it doesn't make you morally bankrupt to not want to. Let me tell you, the entire genre of BL would not exist if people didn't *hand wave* at problematic media. That doesn't make it right or wrong, it just means that obviously it's popular enough that maybe we shouldn't be asking ourselves whether its right or wrong, like we're not all capable of a nuanced, mature interpretation of the material.

However, anon, at the end of the day, if the rape content of the kinnporsche books doesn't sit right with you, then that is fine. It's absolutely ok, and I hope you take care of yourself. But that doesn't make you more, or less, right than the person who does like that content, for whatever reason they might do. Because their experience, like your experience, is completely unique. And it's special. And it doesn't deserve to be shit on for the sake of advertising how aware you are of something that's problematic, nor does the integrity of content creators.

This is very long, but the last thing I will say is that if anyone outright rejects the notion that is IS rape, or that there ARE problematic themes at all, that's a different can of worms altogether, and has more to do with the media maturity of the individual than it does with the source material. But I don't see people doing that. People are, as a rule, pretty well aware of how messed up something is. We all live in a society, after all, we have the evidence of right and wrong in our daily lives all around us. It doesn't need to be uniformly depicted in the books we read, or the media we consume. Suspension of disbelief builds empires, my friends.
