For pride month I decided to draw a Trans Bee king. Had a -lot- of fun designing him.

Inspired by Bombus Pratorum ( Early bumblebee).

honestly feel like you can't fully understand why the nhl functions the way it does unless you have an in-depth understanding of american conservatism specifically. like. the nhl is run by a collection of people who function on conservative nostalgia, purposeful obtuseness, and a direct opposition to progressivism. they're the type of american traditionalists who think that we should go back to the good old days when people respected their elders and didn't think too hard about things like civil rights or what equity actually means. they believe in a homogenous culture of assimilation and obedience, and they rely on the people within that culture to perpetuate it via mutual surveillance. it's what the wealthy white american right has always been, especially since wwii and the cold war after it. and it's what the nhl has always been. it's a culture that is determined to keep itself locked away in the 1980s while the world around it evolves, and as it grows farther removed from the world it exists in, the more reactionary it gets. it's fucking. every 70 year old republican senator who refuses to step down until they keel over dead in congress. that's it. that's all.

Headcanons for all the survivors gender/sexuality

Wilson- Just Kinda decided he was gonna be a boy when he was like 8 and his dad was so desperate for an heir that didn’t want him dead to rights he just kinda let it happen. would fuck anyone but at the same time is not interested at all

Willow- Butch-ish but more in a tomboy kinda way. genuinely likes wearing skirts and more feminine clothing but doesn’t really think she deserves to? if that makes sense? (She doesn’t really feel like a genuine legit girl) hardcore lesbian.

Wolfgang- Very traditionally masculine but in the “My job is to protect and take care of everyone” and not the “im a man so I can do whatever I want” type way. Gay but could totally be in a lavender relationship/marriage and have no problems w/ it

WX-78- Born a cis female, figured out early on that wasn’t right but couldn’t change it until they were an adult. Transed their gender but then figured out being a male wasn’t right either. eventually found someone who felt similarly and abandoned their flesh for the machine. solidly aroace. they’re triple a (agender, asexual, aromantic) just like batteries

Wickerbottom- cis female and “traditionally” feminine, has never felt the need to explore or question it. Used to be married to a man who was secretly gay and looking for someone similarly emotionally unavailable. He has since passed but left wicker a small fortune so. alls well that ends well ig

Wes- kind of a stereotypical femme twink. The kinda gay whos loud and proud and will hit you with a brick if you have a problem with that. feels obligated to help the others try and figure themselves out- esp the ones who are more in denial abt it

Maxwell- I think the idea that max is trans and Jack is cis and they turned out looking the exact same is hilarious. Technically the only ppl who knows he’s trans are jack and charlie- their parents just think he’s a masculine woman and everyone else knows him as a man. Bi and so so weak for bears and gently bossy women.

Wendy- Non-binary but still in the process of realizing it. Does not give a single shit abt romance but would totally be qpp with Webber once they know what that means.

Woodie- Probably Not Cis but has too much religious trauma to even dare questioning himself. He’s like JUST accepted the fact that he’s gay (still thinks hes going straight to hell but we’re working on that) so ynknow baby steps. baby steps. Deffo has a shit ton of body dysphoria due to the wereforms tho

Webber- Since spiders work a lil different in the constant (probably more like bees) there are like three genders Webber could potentially see themselves as. Drone, warrior, and queen. During his childhood he thinks of himself mostly as a drone but as he gets older and his sway over the spiders increases they’ll shift into seeing themselves as more of a queen. But other that he’s pretty much whatever non-spider gender is most convenient. Definitely bi.

Wigfrid- her gender is… strange. What she outwardly presents is her character’s way of presenting herself so ig I see her as kinda fluid? Idk valiant-valkyrie if ur reading this you can probably do a better job of explaining it. you are the defacto wigfrid authority. Definitely lesbian but once again will do whatever the role requires

Winona- Solidly butch lesbian. Definitely a caretaker and a protector but in the butch kinda way and not the femme kinda way. if that makes sense.

Wurt- Butch but hasn’t really realized it yet. does not think human genders apply to her bcs she’s a merm and will 100% be king when she grows up. baby lesbiab. her and wilba’s eventual union shall bring peace to the pig/merm kingdoms once and for all

Wortox- human genders do not apply to him. They are whatever is most convenient at the time. Fluid like loki and bugs bunny.

Walter- if xenogenders existed back then he would totally be like pupgender/buggender. Non-binary but has no problem being called a boy/man. Would be fine with any prns but people have only ever used he/him for him. Probably going to be a monsterf*cker when he grows up.

Wormwood- He is plant. Plants have sexes but no genders and wormwood is intersex anyway but they kinda just chose the first option presented to him once he found the others. Loves all but has absolutely no interest or idea about non-plant reproductive activities.

Walani- Yknow that “as a girl who’s a gross dude men who are fancy ladies are my best friends”? Yeah that’s her and Warly. she’s the emotional support golden retriever to warly’s high-strung cheetah. Lesbian but like. endearingly loser lesbian who’s only ever smooth when she’s not trying to be.

Warly- as mentioned before he is very much a guy who is a fancy lady. Would probably do drag if he had the chance and would 100% be the baddest bitch who makes all the men question their sexuality. Gay and european.

Wanda- doesn’t have time for all that gender questioning bullshit she just wants to kiss women.

Wheeler- Solid futch, leans more feminine or masculine depending on the situation. Woman-leaning bisexual, has probably fucked someone wife and inadvertently caused a divorce.

Woodlegs- pretty solidly cis male but 100% an embarrassing old gay grandpa. Doesn’t know much abt the terminology but is incredibly supportive and was definitely a homewrecker back in the day. Probably got out of at least one arrest by seducing the naval officer meant to bring him in

Wilba- high femme and definitely a baby lesbian. I do really like the idea of her being trans just because why not so why not. She and wurt are fat femme x fat butch once they grow up

Wagstaff- born as a girl but realized he hated it and made attempts to transition early on. Eventually ran away to America to fully transition. Non-binary too but hasn’t realized it yet and just thinks that everyone feels weird when someone calls them mr or sir. men-liker and old man yaoi certified

Wilbur- yes I’m doing the monkey. Gender is a strange concept to him, so he just kinda calls himself male bcs apparently he is? He doesn’t really understand it but it seems to be pretty important in human society so he’ll do it if it means he gets respected as an actual person and not just some sideshow.

I usually go with Dream being some form of intersex or just, some level of trans. If Dream is a trans man, he usually gets magical top and bottom surgery from XD, gilded magical scars and all, because its what he deserves. Otherwise I give him both a penis and a vagina because I'm bigender and I desperately wish that was an option for Me. This is 100 percent projection. Dream generally thinks of himself as a man and uses he/him pronouns regardless of what's in his pants.

Punz is a nonbinary bee man who generally presents as he/him to the public, because its easier and Punz is not in the mood ever for drama related to their gender. When they told Dream their pronouns, Dream began to use they/them more often than he/him, and it felt very gender affirming. Comfortable. It can get tiring having part of your identity be considered less important, so someone who actually took the time to respect it was... nice. All the people who were in the Egg hivemind also now prioritize they/them pronouns for Punz instinctively, because when you share consciousness sometimes you learn someone has pronouns and also feelings.

Sam is. Sam. In my head I don't usually think of his gender outside of Creeper. I don't think Sam particularly thinks of his gender outside of Creeper. I think if you asked Sam what his gender was he wouldn't be able to answer you. He 100 percent only uses gendered terms because he listened to how other people interacted and took mental notes. Sam is a test tube baby cloned from the original King Sam that was dropped off into the woods and wandered around until he found the og smp members. He never learned what a gender was and at this point he's in too deep to ask.

LGBT+ rep in HB

- Moxie is actually beautiful male bisexual representation. He’s always shown some interest in men and women. King said the word “bisexual” I love you Moxie. Blitzo is problematic pansexual male rep and I suppose I can respect that begrudgingly. His polyamory is vilified as predatory and a flaw, and that’s bad.

For now I believe (Angel Dust) Stolas, and Fizzarolli are the gay characters…Angel Dust sleeps with women if they pay him Stolas was forced to sleep with a woman and she with him, Fizz had to sell sex robots of himself to women

This is inherently traumatising for gay men and I don’t know why the comphet is so powerful in hell none of the gay characters made it out unscathed. They’re by far the most raunch oriented characters too. Gross.

- Vaggie is the one and only canonical lesbian…if you read her Wikipedia page. Her gf is more like her bestie. And she is basically asked if she hates men right off the bat which is a nasty lesbophobic stereotype

- Sallie Mae had maybe two lines of dialogue and you need to research Imp horn biology lore to know she’s trans so I’m not satisfied yet trans women deserve more than crumbs. There was an unnamed trans man and blitz simp in Bees …who seemed eager to take advantage of blitz when drunk…not cool

- background characters aren’t good enough

- Bisexual women are only hinted at , poorly

- No asexuals present (and no, finding sexual harassment gross doesn’t mean you’re asexual)

- no nonbinary characters

another bug world no mercy question, perhaps a little silly one. how do the different bugs view gender? is there trans / nonbinary bugs....like are certain societies more accepting of them than others? i noticed some of the terms you used in the naming post were gendered things (king/queen, mother, sir/madame) so im wondering how those would go if somebug transed their gender

So it somewhat depends on the bug kingdom itself and their culture. Something that also alters the views of gender in the bug kingdoms is the species itself as well

Gastropods and Annelids (Worms) have looser views on gender because in real life, snails, slugs, and worms are all intersex

So in the canon of Bug World No Mercy, all of the characters who fall under either gastropod or annelid are canonically intersex

Slug/Worm society uses their gendered terms very loosely and it's not uncommon to see a slug/worm refer to themselves with he/him, she/her, they/them, or even another set of pronouns

With the Slugs specifically, though they have the title of King/Queen, it doesn't automatically mean that the Slug ruler is a male or female slug based on their title.

Both the Slugs and Worms typically have a "Leaning" term for their citizen's identities

Let me give an example: While Queen Mulch's sister, Ditch, takes up she/her pronouns, Ditch leans more towards masculinity

Generally, Slug and Worm society don't have real "Ideal male/female slugs/snails" ideals going on

However, not all worms have these loose views on gender. Enter: The Hammerhead Slugs. This part might have themes of transphobia with their society, be warned:

While Hammerhead Slugs are both male and female in real life as well, the Hammerheads that came to America began to craft together a strict guide pertaining to them

They must adhere to these guidelines set in place by law

I don't have a solid list of their strict guides yet, that'll definitely be covered in their kingdom guide though (Whenever that comes out)

While a Hammerhead Slug can very much transition to the opposite gender, they are almost immediately expected to begin their process of adhering to the strict rules put onto that gender they're transitioning to. If they try fighting back against those guides? Shame, sneering, shunning. Maybe even prison time, because by law, they are to obey these guidelines

Ants/Bees/Wasps:

Drones (Which in the story, is just a term for males of the species) who decide to become workers doesn't always mean that they transition from MTF. But it's also not uncommon for that to be the case

Drones who transition from MTF have their pheromones change

The smell of the bugs depends on who we're talking about.

Ants:

Female Ants: Damp soil and freshly cut grass

Drone(Male) Ants: Soot

Bees:

Female Bees: Pollen, generally floral

Drone(Male) Bees: Sour fruit

Wasps:

Female Wasps: Tree sap

Drone(Male) Wasps: Wet stone

Once again though, not every Drone who becomes a worker will be MTF, nor will their pheromones change. That is only if the Drone chooses to transition.

These three kingdoms are pretty relaxed when it comes to the topic of transitioning, although not as loose with gender as the Slug/Worm kingdoms are

In all three kingdoms, an ant/bee/wasp can very much be nonbinary as well as FTM

Nonbinary and FTM ants/bees/wasps are typically with the Head/Lead ants

FTM Head or Lead ants/bees/wasps go through the same pheromone change process as their MTF bugs, although they stay as their previous rank

The reason I specifically named these bug kingdoms above is just because they're the ones I have a solid idea of. They're bound to change in some form later down the line.

Also before anyone can say this: I would rather everyone not say something like "Well the Hammerhead Slugs may be evil but at least they're a little cool with transitioning" just because there's so much other horrible shit to them and how they are in the story (Plus their motives)

on one hand i think the Wall Market's vibes managed to stay the same while also being quite different from the OG to the Remake -- and it's not to say one is better than the other, it's just, drastically different.

But i think it's really fun to see how they adjusted to this different set up.

Like in the OG Wall Market... is really dirty. diy dirty. There is no moral nor even an actual defined hierarchy other than "Corneo is on top". When Cloud and Aerith decide to both enter the "new bride tournament for Corneo" they're basically scrapping by from anything they can find in town.

They help the drunk dressmaker from a failing business to want inspiration again by finding his calling in helping people crossdress. They get the help of a drag queen in a random gym to get a wig for Cloud. They have to buy stuff out of a vending machine until a tiara falls down. You help some guy find puking medication and he gives you some stuff to help you cross dress properly. You have to buy a specific meal to have access to a special prize you can use to make Cloud the perfect girl.

and obviously there's the Honey Bee Inn, by far the section that needed to be made less problematic, but who was a dirty place. None of the dancers liked being here, all of them talk about being harassed, you're supposed to get lace underwears for Cloud on there and the two options to get it are widely homophobic, but require Cloud pretending to be a client and going in one of the room to steal some underwear he could use. (in case it's not known the homophobic parts include a room where Cloud gets dragged into a communal bath and it's pretty much implied he's being groped by other men and Cloud is uncomfortable, or another room which is much more ominous since it's one of the first place Cloud can have a full mental breakdown that is impossible to ignore, but once he wakes up it's because a naked man is slapping his face on top of him and it's, once again, really uncomfortable for Cloud)

And the OG was all built around the fact that you had to do a lot of quests in Wall Market to scrap by all of that to be picked as Corneo's best girl as Cloud, otherwise Tifa and Aerith would be the ones getting picked, and you don't want that.

It feels more like battling a secret mafia than anything else. You're scrapping by with what you find, you know it's not going to be flawless, to get to perfection you just need to get lucky finding the right items. But everything is so dirty and disgusting and yet it's this macabre look into the city's vices that get interesting.

I'd say the OG still handle the crossdressing itself okayish (and i sure have heard a lot of people talk about how it was their trans awakening so i don't want to dig on a 1997 game for that) but yeah.

It was undeniable while getting into the remake that they had to fix some things without letting go of what the people loved. There was a line to walk between problematic (because the antagonist is problematic) and problematic (because we aren't being respectful of groups of people)

In the Remake, Wall Market is pretty much Vegas. It's big and loud and flashy in a way the OG wasn't specifically. Not that the game WASNT, but not to this extend.

Now there's a clear hierarchy and Corneo's fingerprints can be found anywhere. He controls the town, he's the king of it. And now his "Bride Auction" is less of a dirty thing done quickly by his underling, and instead, while still dirty, something that comes from a huge system with a trio at the top, just under Corneo, who monitor anything Corneo gets or not.

So instead of the DIY portions of the game, the whole quests become about impressing the Trio instead. You need to get the good graces of the elite in order to get by, it's no longer about how helping other people in the same misery you're in can give you some goodies by the end.

Now you count on the Trio to help you, while all the little quests from the OG are spread around like easter eggs or don't carry the same weight either. Deciding of the dresses everyone will wear depends on whenever you completed a certain amount of quests or picked the right dialogue options in chapters predating Wall Market, compared to the OG where it's really just your actions in Wall Market that gives you any outcome for Wall Market.

I think some of it is a little weird to scrutiny -- i totally believe in the dirty male centric mafia from the OG, while seeing Madam M, a strong dominatrix having to bow by the law of Corneo while being her higher adjudant, and Andrea the glam queen and definitely openly bi man, and yet all of them being directly involved in this bride auction is a little... questionable in some way, but i think it can work on the angle of, it's a bit like on the surface isn't it. Like how a dude like Reeve end up doing all the dirty work Shinra ask about because it's the system which is set in place and nothing can be done, but at least in a place of power you can mitigate damages. And for what it's worth Sam and Madam M both try to dissuade us.

But, undeniably, it makes the whole thing a lot more Glam. It's no lower a city by the sewer that's scrapping by, it's glamour, luxerious, like drowning the ugly truth under the bright lights.

The Honey Bee Inn stands therefore especially differently with how they changed it. Instead they go out of their way to show the dancers there love their work, genuinely see their work as art, and while the brothel aspect is still hinted at, it's with a lot more of a "everyone is very into it on here no biggie" ambiance than the OG where the women working there were disgusted with their work.

And obviously all the homophobic stuff instead are replaced by Andrea, Glam Queen of them all, who will encourage Cloud to embrace experimenting with gender, and instead respectfully explains that people are free to live their truth. it's honestly probably the best step up they could have done compared to the OG.

(though i am sad we're therefore losing one of the big "what the FUCK is wrong with Cloud moment" because this is one of my favorite scene from how terrifying and out of nowhere it is, and the fact it's optional and Cloud never mentions it again, and in the OG it's one of the real first time Cloud acts EXTREMELY WEIRD. The Remake kinda hammed it up a lot more imo (mostly because some subtle elements didn't come out as subtle in HD, but also bc they did such weird choices with them, re the scrapped knees scene) so in a sense i feel like this scene wouldn't have its place in the remake because it's just oh, another weird Cloud moment. But in the OG it's just SO GOOD.)

(but it's also something to say about how surprisingly the Remake removes any agency the player does have on Cloud, which is a shame because the OG does a really interesting metatextual thing by regularly facing you with choices that actually do alter some plotbeats or the way you experience the plot, to build up to the moment Cloud realize what's wrong with him and suddenly you no longer have a choice to control him, because Cloud is no longer controlable and everything. The Remake is so quick to make itself a story about how it's a timeloop the characters have no escape from, things replay the same anytime, but by removing the themes of agency that were in the gameplay at first. How can you say that the player is forcing the timeline to repeat itself while also removing the player's print on the gameplay? Especially since Cloud gets picked as prettiest girl no matter what in the Remake so it loses how much your choices change anything aside from the aesthetics changes. It becomes really superficial. i know it might seem weird to mention but the fact AC!Cloud took people by surprise because people played Cloud very differently and therefore had a different perception of him, really show imo how the OG managed to have you control him until he finds himself again. Like it's really weird that the remake has this subtext of fate and the characters being unable to change their fate (or are they?) when during this portion of the game the players could get alternative storylines depending on their choices and the way they decided to control Cloud. that was a tangent)

I do really like it, i don't actually have anything to say in the idea of "they missed the point!!" because no, i actually think i get it. The OG is a lot more scrapping by, but still with the idea Shinra secretly support Corneo's grip on this town. So instead really making it a mindnumbing town where Corneo's power is felt genuinely does work.

But there's definitely a real difference from going from the dirty DIY where you'll make it out in the dirt with the people in the dirt with you, compared to playing by the system's rules to get what you need.

Anyway actually the reason i started this post is that, because of this radical change, others things had to change, and mainly, the whole section where Aerith guides you through the collapsed sector is straight up haunted in the OG. That's where you run into the hell house originally, major haunted houses that attack you on sight. The point is that a lot of people died here and people are haunting the place.

but it would have been too gaudy to have the haunted houses there, and tbh i do think they completely dropped the idea of the sector being straight up haunted to just replace it with traditional shinra weapons, but it's whatever imo, there's the train graveyard scene later so i can imagine they didn't want the redundancy with this specific haunted part. (though considering what i've heard about the adaptation of the Shinra's Mansion in Rebirth it does strike me as a patern of the remake genuinely being scared to dip into some of the horror-atmosphere element of the OG. But i'll really judge that when i reach the Train Graveyard and the Shinra Massacre, as to me those are the others big horror moment in this section of the OG)

So, instead, using the flashiness of the new Wall Market, to have Corneo organize gladiator arena matches where you end up fighting one of the major Hell House? I think it's a fine compromise.

It does change a "horror inclined" moment into a divertisment moment which is eehhhh, but, i think at this point, the dices were set.

to make the Honey Bee Inn less problematic it changed Wall Market drastically and by result they needed to work around the new set up.

And, for all the complains i have there, i do think it's cool.

it's not in a "one is better than the other" but in a "the two of them tell their story very differently and there's two very specific image of Wall Market resonating from those changes".

It's an interesting bit of the game in term of Adaptation. What to leave in, what to upgrade, what can be added for the social commentary ect....

i'll miss the dirty DIY angle of the OG, but i'm having a blast with this glam explosion of vices in the Remake.

Different takes, both interesting in their own way. hell yeah.

another question the miloverse but what are the adults (abby,wymack,bee) opinions on neil and milo not based off of neil’s perspective/what he thinks they think about him

This is a great question! I’ve been wanting to share their perspective of the story (but I gotta wait for the Raven King arc before any of their POVs are seen)

These opinions will be based on what I currently have in the fic and not go further than that (wouldn’t want to spoil anything)

Abby sees Neil as this sad and lonely boy who’s had to grow up way too fast and it’s the reason he’s mistrusting of adults. She wants to help unburden him and give Neil and Milo someone they can lean on (unfortunately she doesn’t know that it can’t be her—not completely anyways)

Abby also thinks Neil is too young to be a parent and it’s not that she wants someone to take away Milo but she wants Neil to realize he isn’t wholly mature for this responsibility yet. Abby wants to give Neil the chance to realize that being responsible for a child isn’t just their basic physical needs but their emotional ones too.

Abby’s less attached opinion of Neil is that he’s sarcastic but polite to adults, he needs to learn to take care of his body and set good examples. Neil’s also reckless and clumsy and in desperate need of round the clock first aid.

Her opinions on Milo are far more basic. He’s a cute kid, highly intelligent which scares her. She worries for his mental health but she knows she’s no professional and shouldn’t make assumptions. Abby can tell Milo is malnourished but considering his growing diet, she won’t bring it up until Milo shows signs of sickness (Milo is growing fast and healthy for someone who’s had a bad diet since birth) She thinks Milo looks like Neil despite everyone believing otherwise. Abby wants Milo to be able to go to school and get as many chances as he can get. She thinks Milo is lonely. Abby can tell something isn’t okay with Milo because sometimes he just spaces out for hours and his appetite disappears and he takes longer naps and all of it worries her.

Wymack thinks Neil is in need of this chance at Palmetto. It isn’t just because Neil needs this chance to play exy and make something of himself. It’s this chance to sleep on a bed under a roof, have breakfast on a table, have a private shower, and someone to turn to if he needs help.

Wymack wasn’t expecting Neil to be trans, let alone come out to everyone so soon. Neil’s old coach had mentioned Neil always changed and showered separately but Wymack assumed it had to do with scars or bruising he wanted to hide. This doesn’t change his opinions about Neil in the slightest and now Wymack is looking for books on Transgender people so he knows what Neil needs and doesn’t accidentally offend him.

Wymack thinks Neil is this kicked cat he found on the side of the road, it’s got these mean old claws but that’s just because it’s scared and has been taking hits instead of being cared for. Milo is the extension of it. Wymack can’t read Milo at all. He’s quiet and wary of Wymack but not in the way Neil is. When Neil looks at him, there’s fear in his eyes and he stares right through Wymack as if seeing a ghost. Milo doesn’t have that fear, just caution. Milo is insanely smart and has a knack for picking up things quickly (Wymack’s tempted to let him watch the Foxes scrimmage so Milo can let them have it on what they’re doing wrong)

Wymack thinks Neil has a soft heart and raised a smart and kind boy. But he thinks they both need some parental guidance that obviously shouldn’t come from whatever two abusive pricks they were living with before.

Bee is different in her opinions. I mean they relatively follow the same idea but she hasn’t gotten to meet Neil and has only heard things about him from about every person but Neil himself. From what she’s heard, she thinks Neil won’t stick around to meet her when classes start. The optimistic in her hopes he’ll stick around for the long run.

Bee has met Milo, even if he hadn’t said a word, his body language spoke volumes. Bee thinks Milo is either scared of adults, or adult women but seeing as Abby and Mandy are constantly chatting about what a great kid he is, maybe he’s just scared of strangers. Milo was drawn in on himself when they met, although he wouldn’t flinch, he’d freeze and his eyes would widen ever so slight as if he were trying to hide his fear. He’d do that every time Bee did so much as sit down or fold her hands together. She realized that Milo can’t be bought with sweets because he won’t eat or drink something a stranger gives him (smart kid)

Bee thinks Milo has some level of insomnia considering what Abby has told her about Milo’s nightmares and seeing the boy’s deep sunken exhausted eyes, it’s just confirmed more. Milo is too good at staying still so Bee thinks someone has either beaten that teaching into him or he’s learned to mindlessly follow orders from adults (Bee hopes Neil isn’t the one who’s made his son into a statue)

Despite all of this, Bee thinks Milo has a very curious personality. His eyes had tracked Bee’s every movement and had attempted to drink up the sight of every inch of her house when he thought she wasn’t looking. His eyes don’t scan exits like Bee has heard Neil does frequently, instead he watches for rooms and spaces which makes her think Milo likes to hide in times of desperation and just maybe, he’s good at it.

Bee wants to get to know both Neil and Milo and more importantly than her curiosities, she wants to help them.

My (Mostly OOC) Headcanons for the serpentine [PART 2]

Todays part is on... Acidicus!

Right of the bat, in my headcanons as well as my personal interpretations, Acidicus is always a lady (more specifically trans mtf :D)

Initially when Pythor became king she was against the idea of releasing the devourer on humanity, as she believed revenge on humans would only continue the conflict between both humans and serpentine.

(To follow hc 2) She was eventually swayed by hearing the legends of their ancestors and by the theories on whether or not the devourer even existed.

In her free time she tells stories to the younglings of the tribes.

"Evil bees" are an actual species that lives in the toxic bogs but because Skales has never been there he thought it wasn't a serious suggestion (Acidicus was offended) (this is the least serious headcanon but probably my favourite)

She usually remains the brain amongst the generals not seeking trouble, but, when allowed to/ordered to cause trouble she does sometimes let free a wilder side.

Is the oldest of the generals and has stayed general longest too. (Many have challenged her position but she has fought back with knowledge and physical strength)

Because she's the oldest she'll sometimes call younger generals like Skales "young one" (Skales hates it)

When writing historical texts about what happened in season 1 (the release of their species + the devourer), she would write little insults toward Pythor in the bylines

People who bend the spines of books are the bane of her existance

Has researched Aspheera to death (knows practically everything on her)

Is the tallest of the serpentine generals (besides Pythor obvs)

do the cats in wac have any stuff about gender and sexuality? what was it like for cats like canary and lain figuring out who they are?

see, for once in my stupid life, bigotry towards queer people isn't a theme in WAC at all so I haven't thought THAT much about how these cats do gender and such. I know it is widely accepted and most people won't give a shit about it. a "do what you want kinda thing." There are however pretty ingrained gender roles. Men go to war women care for children you know the deal. They are often freely allowed to do the other's roles with little to no pushback, but there are expectations ya know.

Lain figured out his gender near the start of the war/conquest. He was still fairly young and was surrounded by other guys, and just felt much more connected to them and manhood than to womanhood (women were allowed to fight in the war but. you know.). Of course, him exploring his identity and feeling more like himself was stifled by the King choosing out his new name for him, instead of allowing him to pick one himself.

Warbler grew up in a colony that did not give people's names until they had a job. Until they had one, they were simply called "molly" or "tom" based on their gender. Warbler even as a young child didn't really like being constantly referred to by her birth gender and was very happy when Crane took her in and she found out she was able to pick out her own name! After that she very quickly put together that she wasn't boy. Warbler really wants to connect with other trans people and she tried to with Canary but then she died. and then she tries to with Grouse and Grouse is a bitch.

GROUSE IS ALSO TRANS. I FORGET IF I'VE SAID THAT. Grouse figured out he was trans when he was young and still living on his own with his family. he simply just Felt More Boy. They were all chill and fine with it! Though honestly when Condor saved him I think Condor would be a bit thick skulled and be like..... "boy?? with pussy????" about it. not in a bigoted way but in a. he genuinely does not understand.

Canary is a special case cause she's not binary trans like the rest of them. She's like. Genderfluid cis guy. She identifies wholly with being a dude but she likes to have fun with it. She's always liked doing some of the more "womanly tasks" (primarily nest making and caring for kittens and cleaning stuff up) and found it more fun then hunting or anything. She's a dude but also a housewife. you understand. you get me. This probably came out the most when she met Mariner and mariner said some like. insane shit like "you're a bee on the outside but you're as graceful as a flower" and she was just like "sure yeah i'll adopt that into my world view can you call me a woman even tho i am literally a man"

Shows to Watch/Get Caught Up On:

There aren’t any anime in the Spring 2023 season that appeal to me, so I’m going to use this time to catch up on some (mostly) Western TV shows and animation series. 

I do also end to dig into older anime at some point or another, but those are a lot harder to locate (most of the time) so require some more energy in finding them. Something which I don’t really have right now. Anyway, I’m just making this list to ensure that I’ll actually watch these shows. More potential for actual initiative.

Also, if you notice that there might be some series that I might like, based on these shows, feel free to drop recommendations in the comments! 

The Fire Hunter: I need to rewatch this from Episode 1. It’s the only anime here. It’s based on a Japanese novel and had some really excellent world building in the first two episodes. 

Bee and Puppycat: I remember watching episodes of this series when it was still a Youtube series. I love, love, love the colors in this series and just the soft style of it.

Proud Family: Louder and Prouder : I remember this show when I was a kid. I didn’t watch all that much of it, since it aired around the time I was really starting to get into anime (2001, I was 11). But, I remember enjoying it when I did watch it. I also love everything I’ve heard about this reboot.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: I hadn’t realized that this was based on a Marvel comic, but I LOVE the visuals and it just looks so interesting and cool!

Dead End: Paranormal Park: The lead character for this series is trans and I’ve heard great things about it. I’m also partial to paranormal, supernatural, light horror stuff, so this seems like it will itch that scratch.

Willow: I need to rewatch the movie first, I haven’t watched that movie since I was a kid, but I remember liking it a lot. I also just remember Warwick Davis as being a part of my childhood through Willow, the Leprechaun movies, and even in HP.

The Mandalorian (S3) : To the surprise of probably no one, I find Grogu precious and adorable and am a sucker for cold hardass gets given kid that then softens them up. It’s just way too cute a combo, so I’ll be checking this season out too.

The Owl House: My friend knows Dana Terrace (they had some class together, iirc), she’s also from my home state, so I feel I need to watch it not only because of that, but also because I have enjoyed a lot of what I’ve seen in the show. So, I want to finish watching this one. I know it is well beloved and that is likely for a reason.

Infinity Train: I watched the first season of this show when it first came out and I LOVED it. But, it wasn’t easy for me to watch, and that ended up being what made watching the rest of the seasons a lot harder for me. I want to watch the other seasons that came out for it though. It was such a wonderfully creative show that explored some great themes.

Amphibia: This one has interested me for a while and supposedly is quite good. So I want to give it a watch (especially now that it is finished, iirc, it’s easier to binge watch that way).

Hilda and the Mountain King (TV Movie): I watched the first and second season and I really enjoyed this series. It’s very character focused and I love the fantasy elements of this series. It’s all very magical and also kinda has a Welcome to Night Vale vibe about it, but child friendly. Since this is just a movie, I should be able to watch it quickly.
