Top 5 Plumbing Emergencies That Require Immediate Attention
Regarding home maintenance, a few things are as disruptive as a plumbing emergency. These sudden issues can cause a ripple effect of damage if not dealt with swiftly, potentially leading to costly repairs and long-term damage. Whether it’s a burst pipe flooding your home or a blocked drain turning your daily routine upside down, plumbing issues can escalate quickly if not promptly handled by a plumber Brisbane North. Recognizing these emergencies and knowing when to act is crucial for protecting your home from unnecessary damage.
This guide presents the common emergencies that demand prompt action to protect your home from extensive damage and high repair costs.
Burst Pipes
A burst pipe can result in significant water damage in a matter of minutes. This issue is widespread during colder months when pipes are more prone to freezing and cracking. However, temperature fluctuations or older pipes can also cause this problem. When a pipe bursts, water can quickly flood areas of your home, leading to ruined floors, walls, and even ceilings. Apart from the structural damage, mould and mildew growth can become a concern if water is not promptly removed. Acting immediately when you notice water gushing from a burst pipe is vital to minimize damage and repair costs.
Blocked Drains
Blocked drains are a common but serious plumbing issue. They often start as minor annoyances but can quickly escalate into full-blown emergencies if ignored. Debris, hair, soap scum, and even tree roots can clog drains over time. When a drain is fully blocked, it can lead to slow drainage or, worse, a complete backup that brings water back into your sinks, tubs, or toilets. In extreme cases, blocked drains can cause sewage backups, which not only create a health hazard but can also result in extensive cleaning and repairs. The moment you notice that your drains are slower than usual, it’s essential to act swiftly before it becomes a bigger issue.
Overflowing Toilets
An overflowing toilet is a problem no one wants to face, but it’s more common than you might think. When a toilet overflows, it can cause a significant mess that is not only unsanitary but also damaging to your floors and walls. The cause is usually a blockage in the drain pipe or the toilet itself, and if left unchecked, it can lead to more severe plumbing problems down the line. Acting quickly by turning off the water supply to the toilet and addressing the blockage is crucial to prevent further damage and to ensure your home remains safe and clean.
Leaking Water Heaters
Water heaters are essential for maintaining comfort in your home, but when they malfunction, they can create significant problems. A leaking water heater is one such issue that requires immediate attention. Not only can a leak waste a substantial amount of water, but it can also lead to water damage in the surrounding area. Additionally, if the leak is a sign of a larger internal issue with the heater, it may stop functioning altogether, leaving you without hot water. Detecting a water heater leak early and addressing it quickly can prevent extensive water damage and save you from the inconvenience of a failed unit.
Low Water Pressure
While low water pressure may seem like a minor inconvenience, it can signal a more significant underlying issue within your plumbing system. The problem could be caused by a leak, a blockage, or even corrosion in the pipes. If not addressed, low water pressure can worsen over time, leading to more significant issues, including pipe bursts or leaks that could cause damage to your home. Monitoring water pressure and seeking prompt attention when it drops unexpectedly can prevent more severe problems in the future.
Plumbing emergencies are often unexpected and can cause a great deal of stress. By knowing the signs of these common issues that are presented in this guide, you can act quickly to mitigate damage and keep repair costs down. It's essential to understand that these problems don’t resolve themselves. Taking immediate action when you notice the first signs of a plumbing emergency can make all the difference between a minor inconvenience and a major repair project.

Power Pest Control Redcliffe
Tumblr media
Termites are incredibly destructive pests. They eat away at timber structures, causing structural damage and creating a potential health hazard for your family.
Regular termite inspections are vital to keeping these slow moving wood-eating pests at bay. Termite inspections are performed by trained professionals using specialised equipment to locate and identify termite infestations. To know more about Power Pest Control Redcliffe, visit the Bug Out Pest Solutions website or call 0426263320.
A reliable pre-purchase termite inspection is essential when purchasing any property in Redcliffe and North Brisbane. A thorough inspection will reveal any termite activity and allow you to take the necessary action to protect your investment.
Soil-applied barrier treatments such as Termidor are a great preventative measure. When termites pass through the treated soil on their way home, they are killed.
Brisbane’s warm, humid climate makes it easy for cockroaches to thrive. They enter homes and business through air ducts, cracks in walls, crevices, utility entry points and sewer connections. They are often found in kitchens and laundry rooms.
Outdoors, cockroaches can be found in rotting tree branches, leaf litter, tool sheds and piles of firewood. They can also hide in the soil under plants and soffits.
To reduce cockroach numbers, use glue traps along baseboards, under sinks and in bathrooms. You can also apply D-Fense Dust in a duster, puffing it into wall voids, behind electrical outlets and near plumbing connections. This product is a synthetic pyrethroid and works by interfering with nerve signals.
Ants are one of the most common pests in and around homes. They are opportunistic and will enter your home looking for food, water or shelter.
They love rotting logs and tend to nest in these, however they can also forage into gardens where they may disturb flower beds. They are a nuisance in many homes and contribute to structural wood damage.
Keeping rubbish bins emptied, wiping up liquid foods and not leaving pet food out if possible will help reduce ants in your property. Our KM Ant Pro dispenser uses non-repellent sprays to control ants, they are low in toxicity and contain boron which stops the ant’s digestive system.
Rodents are notorious for wriggling into your home or business through the tiniest of openings. This allows them to nestle in secluded spaces such as ceiling cavities or attics and cause severe damage.
They are also a health risk as their droppings can spread the potentially lethal Hantavirus which manifests with flu-like symptoms and may progress to respiratory issues. They can also chew through electrical wires causing fire hazards.
To prevent an infestation, regularly sweep and vacuum the area to remove food scraps, pet bedding, leaves, and other rodent debris. Also install door sweeps and repair cracks, screens vents and chimneys. Consider installing a mouse trap baited with peanut butter.
Mosquito control is a key element in protecting the public from mosquito-borne diseases, like West Nile virus. It involves four components: source reduction, larval control, adulticiding and biological control.
Eliminate standing water in old tires, flower pots, children’s toys and other containers where mosquitoes breed. Change out bird baths, wading pools and rain barrel water weekly, and keep swimming pool water treated and circulating.
Use a larvicide, such as Bti, in artificial ponds and in uncovered rain barrels to eliminate mosquito larvae. Another larval control product is methoprene, an insect growth regulator that disrupts a mosquito’s life cycle. This is a safer alternative to Bti.
If you’re plagued with Bed Bugs in your home, a professional pest control company can help. These tiny ecto-parasites interrupt sleep, tarnish bedding and cause skin problems. They’re difficult to kill and spread quickly without professional assistance. To know more about Power Pest Control Redcliffe, visit the Bug Out Pest Solutions website or call 0426263320.
Vacuum and wash all fabrics in the affected room frequently to limit their spread. Double bag items that can’t be washed, and seal them in plastic bags until they can be properly treated or discarded. Use a crack and crevice treatment on baseboards, moldings, behind pictures, doors and window frames and along carpet edges.

Arborist Caboolture
Arborist Caboolture
Choosing and planting the right trees is only the first step in good tree care. Regular maintenance and inspections by a qualified professional are essential to keep your trees healthy and beautiful. A professional can spot and treat pest infestations, dead limbs, and other problems that you might not notice. They also have a deep understanding of safety protocols and follow standardized procedures for their work.
Before starting a job, the worker should thoroughly examine the area and the tree. He should make sure that the tree is not in a position where it could fall on people or structures. He should also ensure that there are no overhead power lines nearby. Moreover, the work area should be free of any other tripping hazards, and the area should be at least twice as wide as the height of the tree.
Allround Tree Services provides qualified and professional tree removal, pruning, stump grinding, and emergency storm damage services for Bribie Island, North Brisbane, Caboolture, Kallangur, Narangba, Burpengary, and Landsborough communities since 1994. They have a team of trained and experienced professionals who are highly knowledgeable about all aspects of tree service and are licensed, insured, and qualified.

Taylor Swift Tours Masterpost
Hey everyone! For absolutely no reason at all, I’ve decided to compile a masterpost of all the regular setlists, surprise songs, covers, and guests on Taylor’s tours with links to YouTube videos when available (I’m only including videos that weren’t featured in official tour movies). I’ve noticed that, although there are posts like this for specific tours, like Red or reputation, some of this information is pretty hard to find, and it might be useful to some to have it all in one place. Also, I’m something of a Taylor Swift live performance ~connoisseur (💀), so I thought I might share. :) Here we go
Note: This is only part one. I don’t know when the posts for Red, 1989, and reputation will be up.
Part One: Fearless & Speak Now
Fearless Tour (April 23, 2009-July 10, 2010)
This tour did not feature a ‘surprise song slot,’ but she did sometimes change the setlist up a bit. She also brought out a couple of surprise guests (most notably John Mayer and Katy Perry), but not nearly as many as she did on her later tours.
Regular setlist: Fearless Tour
1. ‘You Belong with Me’
2. ‘Our Song’
3. ‘Tell Me Why’
4. ‘Teardrops on My Guitar’
5. ‘Fearless’
6. ‘Forever & Always’
7. ‘Hey Stephen’
8. ‘Fifteen’
9. ‘Tim McGraw’
10. ‘White Horse’ (x)
11. ‘Love Story’
12. ‘The Way I Loved You’ (x)
13. ‘You’re Not Sorry’ / ‘What Goes Around… Comes Around’ (x)
14. ‘Picture to Burn’
15. ‘Change’ (x)
16. ‘I’m Only Me When I’m with You’ (2009) (x) OR ‘Today Was a Fairytale’ (2010)
17. ‘Should’ve Said No’ (extended version)
Footnotes:
*Starting from the show in Uncasville, Connecticut on August 28, 2009, ‘Change’ was removed from the setlist. It was added back in Greensville, South Carolina on September 4, 2009. Starting from the show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 1, 2009, it was removed again.
*European shows on the 2009 leg often removed ‘I’m Only Me When I’m with You’ as well as ‘Change.’
*Starting from the show in Brisbane, Australia on February 4, 2010, ‘Today Was a Fairytale’ replaced ‘I’m Only Me When I’m with You’ in the encore.
Surprise songs:
1. ‘The Best Day’ - Evansville, Indiana (April 23, 2009) Note: This was actually the first show of the tour. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a video of this performance.
2. ‘Two Is Better Than One’ - Brisbane, Australia (February 4, 2010) (x)
3. ‘The Best Day’ - Moline, Illinois (May 8, 2010) (x)
4. ‘Jump Then Fall’ - Foxborough, Massachusetts (June 5, 2010) (x)
Surprise guest performances:
1. ‘Your Body is a Wonderland’ and ‘White Horse’ (already part of the regular acoustic set but performed as a duet here) with John Mayer - Los Angeles, CA (May 22, 2009) (x)
2. ‘The Way You Love Me’ with Faith Hill - Nashville, TN (September 12, 2009) (x)
3. ‘Hot N Cold’ with Katy Perry - Los Angeles, CA (April 15, 2010)
Speak Now World Tour (February 9, 2011-March 18, 2012)
Regular setlists:
Eurasia (February 9, 2011-March 30, 2011)
Note: All of the performances linked below are from the Eurasian leg. Therefore, their quality is questionable. I’m only including these because this leg had a slightly different wardrobe than the North American leg which was recorded for the tour movie. I’m not including videos from performances where the costume is the same.
1. ‘Sparks Fly’
2. ‘Mine’
3. ‘The Story of Us’
4. ‘Back to December’ / ‘Apologize’ / ‘You’re Not Sorry’ (x)
5. ‘Better Than Revenge’ (x)
6. ‘Speak Now’
7. ‘Fearless’ / ‘I’m Yours’ / ‘Hey, Soul Sister’
8. ‘Fifteen’ (x)
9. ‘You Belong with Me’
10. ‘Dear John’ (x) - I’m only including this video because she wore her hair loose lol
11. ‘Enchanted’ (x)
12. ‘Long Live’ (x)
13. ‘Love Story’ (x)
North America & Oceania (May 21, 2011-March 18, 2012)
This is based solely on the first North American show
1. ‘Sparks Fly’
2. ‘Mine’
3. ‘The Story of Us’
4. ‘Our Song’
5. ‘Mean’
6. ‘Back to December’ / ‘Apologize’ / ‘You’re Not Sorry’
7. ‘Better Than Revenge’
8. ‘Speak Now’
9. ‘Fearless’ / ‘I’m Yours’ / ‘Hey, Soul Sister’
10. ‘Last Kiss’
11. ‘You Belong with Me’
12. ‘Dear John’
13. ‘Enchanted’
14. ‘Haunted’
15. ‘Long Live’
16. ‘Fifteen’
17. ‘Love Story’
Notes:
Starting from the show in Toronto, Canada on July 15, 2011, Taylor started playing acoustic covers right after her performance of ‘Last Kiss.’
Starting from the show in Denver, CO, on September 27, 2011, ‘Ours’ was added to the encore, right before the performance of ‘Fifteen’. This marked the live debut of the song. If Taylor had a surprise guest, this was the song she would usually cut from the setlist.
Starting from the show in Perth, Australia on March 2, 2012, ‘Safe & Sound’ (x) was added to the encore. ‘Ours’ (x) was shifted to the acoustic set and was played right before ‘Last Kiss.’ It was only skipped at the show in Auckland on March 17. I’m including a video because, although the performance from the encore was featured in the tour movie, this version takes place on the B-stage and has a different costume (the purple Susan Hilferty dress she wore for half the show lol).
At the shows in Melbourne, Australia on March 12, 2012 and Auckland, New Zealand on March 16, 2012, ‘Fearless’ was skipped.
Surprise covers:
1. ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi - Newark, NJ (July 19, 2011) (x)
2. ‘Dancing in the Dark’ by Bruce Springsteen / ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi - Newark, NJ (July 20 & 24, 2011) (x), (x)
3. ‘Cowboy Take Me Away’ by the Dixie Chicks - Newark, NJ (July 23, 2011) (x)
4. ‘Lose Yourself’ by Eminem and ‘Smile’ by Uncle Kracker’ - Grand Rapids, MI (July 28, 2011) (x)
5. ‘Jack & Diane’ by John Mallencamp and ‘I Want You Back’ by the Jackson 5 - Indianapolis, IN (July 29, 2011) (x), (x)
Note: ‘I Want You Back’ was featured on the Speak Now World Tour Live CD. The second link will direct you to the audio.

Identifying the 9 Common Causes of Clogged Shower Drains
People love to shower, even if they do not leave the house, making them feel clean and refreshed. However, your shower drains also need to feel and experience the same. Keeping them unclean and clogged can cause water buildup inside your bathroom until it gets flooded. A plumber Brisbane North professional can help with this problem, especially if it is becoming more persistent. But before getting their services, you must be aware first of the common causes of clogged shower drains, and here are some of them:
Hair Build-Up
The most common cause of clogged shower drains is hair build-up. People who have problems with hair fall must be aware of this because they are the ones who get victimised by both hair fall and clogging. If hair keeps building up in the drain and you do not take immediate action, it is no surprise that the problem becomes persistent and could affect other parts of the plumbing system.
Soap Scum
Aside from hair build-up, another cause of clogged shower drains is soap scum. The residue of the soap can eventually solidify, causing the clogging. One or two soap scum can be easily removed using water. However, if there are many of them, you need to pick them up and clean the shower drain.
Dirt and Grime
Dirt and debris might look small and nothing to some, but they can also cause clogging and other problems in your plumbing system. In shower drains, keeping them built up can be the reason for blocking the water from flowing freely. Keep checking the drains for daily debris and remove them as soon as you can.
Excess Shampoo and Conditioner
Some people think that shampoo and conditioner might not cause problems in the plumbing system, considering that they get dissolved when applied to the hair and washed with water. However, its residue can cause clogged shower drains. Their accumulation will give homeowners a headache, so do not let it happen to your bathroom.
Food Particles
Believe it or not, some people bring food to the bathroom. Because of this, it is no wonder that food particles can be seen on the shower drains. If you see one, ensure to remove it immediately and throw it properly. To keep the cleanliness of the bathroom and the drains, it is better to keep food away from the bathroom and just stick to having it in the kitchen.
Toiletries
Toiletries can clog drains by flushing cotton pads and wet wipes on the toilet. But when it comes to shower drains, the most common toiletry you will see is Q-tips or cotton buds. Since they are small and thin, some people think that letting them in the drain can make them washed away by water instantly. Though there is a little possibility that it will happen, throwing them in the trash bin is better because having them in your plumbing system can cause more pressing issues in the future.
Old Pipes
If your home still uses old pipes, it can also be a cause of clogged shower drains. Corrosion and rust are something you would never want to have in your plumbing system, so have them checked regularly. Do not let clogging occur before you take action.
Excessive Toilet Paper
Some people use toilet paper to wipe their hands or body when in the shower. But since it is thin and can easily deteriorate, they do not notice that it is going on the shower drain. Having a buildup of toilet paper can block the entire shower drain until water does not flow freely anymore.
Improper Installation
One mistake in the installation of the shower drain can cause more problems in the future. With this, always get the help of professionals because they have the tools, knowledge, experience, and skills to do the job. They can prevent the flaws in DIY plumbing setup, making the entire project of quality and standard.
Here are other things that can cause clogged shower drains:
Children's Toys
Hardened Grease
Pipe Damage
Tree Roots
Construction Debris
Knowing the causes of clogged shower drains can help you prevent them from building up and maintain efficient drainage in your bathroom. Give yourself a hassle-free showering experience by understanding this list.

WHY YOU SHOULD COME TO BRISBANE AND/OR ITS SURROUNDINGS
It’s about time I make this post! As a native of Bris Vegas, I forget that sometimes people come to QLD for holidays! So here’s a list of things to do if you’re staying in Brisbane! This is also in no particular order!
1) Eat Street. This is a fantastic open area with restaurants and other food places operating out of shipping containers. If you’ve been there before but it was a few years ago, they’ve moved since then! Just get there early or late, because the parking is awful.
2) Queen Street Mall. Ah yes, where you can walk on one street, catch a bus or train and shop to your heart’s content. I don’t know much else, tbh, because I don’t often hang there, but if you come during December (warning: the city is hotter than the beach sometimes), then the Christmas Tree is up! It’s pretty big, although not as big as the one in Rockefeller.
3) Theme parks. I’ll be honest: nothing tops Disney and Universal, but Movie World sure gives them a run for their money! Please don’t be spooked by the Dreamworld mess from a few years ago - said ride has been removed, and it’s perfectly safe now. Also, the water parks rock. I’ll count Australia Zoo among these too, but you have to go north instead of south. If you miss Steve Irwin as much as I do, I recommend going there.
4) The beach. Whether you go north to the Sunshine Coast or south to the Gold Coast, there’s always a beach (maybe even a dog beach) for you to visit. I personally hate the beach (a variety of reasons) but a ton of people obviously love them! The water is beautiful, and if you feel like getting absolutely dumped by waves, drop by King’s Beach in Caloundra. The waves are AWESOME. Watch out for jellyfish though - those are actually more common than sharks (I have never heard a shark warning in my life, although my mum once mistook dolphins for sharks!).
5) SOUTHBANK! Home to restaurants, a great movie theatre, QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre) and the Brisbane Eye, this is the place to go for a good night out. There’s also the museums there and the art galleries and the state library... depending on the time of year, you might even drop in on the Brisbane Writer’s Festival or another event! I recommend going to Olé though - its a fantastic restaurant. Also, explore the surrounding parklands - there’s stuff left over from the Expo that was here, and the river is niceish to walk by (it’s not clean, which was made worse by 2011 lmao).
6) Events. There’s a lot of them. Riverfire usually happens at the end of September (it might get cancelled this year because of the bushfires), there’s Christmas fireworks, Pride happens towards the end of September (it’s tomorrow, actually, and I’ll probably be there!), I think we have NYE fireworks (we usually just watch Sydney) and then... the mother of all Brisbane events...
7) THE EKKA! What was once just a farmer’s exhibition is now HUGE! Showbags, rides, animals and a fireworks show at the end of each night! This takes place in the middle of August, and is so iconic that we have a day off for the event (Exhibition Day - I’m not kidding!). I highly recommend going, even if it’s just for an Oreos showbag and a dagwood dog.
8) Minor but still excellent locations. Mt Tambourine, the planetarium whose name I’ve forgotten and Oxford Street are fairly relaxing to hang out at. I especially recommend the first two, because Mt Tambourine has excellent shops and the planetarium is right next to one set of Botanic Gardens and also hosts amazing shows.
So that’s my list of stuff to do in Brisbane! You can visit other places too, like Chinatown (I highly recommend that actually) and the Valley (former brothel area, idk what it does now) but that’s about all I can think of! Please come visit us.
