Hindenburg news: Congress demands Centre to ‘eliminate all conflicts…’; TMC asks ‘will CBI, ED file cases?’ - Notice Global Online https://www.merchant-business.com/hindenburg-news-congress-demands-centre-to-eliminate-all-conflicts-tmc-asks-will-cbi-ed-file-cases/?feed_id=161998&_unique_id=66b83d21e1841 #GLOBAL - BLOGGER BLOGGER Hours after US short-seller Hindenburg Research levelled allegations against Sebi chairperson Madhabi Buch, the Congress on Saturday asked the Central government to immediately eliminate all conflicts of interest in the regulator’s investigation of the Adani Group.Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh, in an official statement, said the Sebi’s “strange reluctance” to investigate the “Adani mega scam” has been long noted, not least by the Supreme Court’s Expert Committee.“Under public pressure, after the Adani horse had bolted, SEBI’s board reintroduced stricter reporting rules on 28 June 2023. It told the Supreme Court’s Expert Committee on 25 August 2023 that it was investigating 13 suspicious transactions. Yet the investigations never bore fruit,” the Congress leader added. He stated that Hindenburg Research’s revelations on Saturday indicate that Buch and her husband invested in the same offshore funds based in Bermuda and Mauritius, where “Vinod Adani and his close associates, Chang Chung-Ling and Nasser Ali Shahban Ahli, had also invested money obtained from the over-invoicing of power equipment.”“The government must act immediately to eliminate all conflicts of interest in the SEBI investigation of Adani. The fact is that the seeming complicity of the highest officials of the land can only be resolved by setting up a JPC (joint parliamentary committee) to investigate the full scope of the Adani mega scam,” he said.Similarly, Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra also said, “crony capitalism is at its finest”. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Moitra wrote, “In true Adani style – even SEBI Chairman is investor in his group.”“Crony Capitalism at its finest. @CBiHeadquarters&@Dir_ED – will you be filing POCA and PMLA cases or not?” she asked.Google News What does Hindenburg’s new report say?Hindenburg Research has released an exclusive new report implicating SEBI chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch in the ‘Adani money siphoning scandal.’ This report follows more than a year after Hindenburg first accused the Adani Group of insider trading and other stock market violations—allegations consistently denied by the conglomerate led by Gautam Adani. The latest report highlights an offshore Mauritius fund called IPE Plus Fund, reportedly established by Vinod Adani through India Infoline. It also references the Bermuda-based Global Dynamic Opportunities Fund, which invested in IPE Plus Fund 1. Vinod Adani, a Dubai-based businessman and the elder brother of Gautam Adani, is still connected to the Adani Group.“We had previously noted Adani’s total confidence in continuing to operate without the risk of serious regulatory intervention, suggesting that this may be explained through his relationship with the SEBI Chairperson. What we hadn’t realized: the current SEBI Chairperson and her husband, Dhaval Buch, had hidden stakes in the exact same obscure offshore Bermuda and Mauritius funds, found in the same complex nested structure, used by Vinod Adani,” the report said.Google News What did Hindenburg’s previous report say?Last January, Hindenburg Research, known for shorting companies like electric truck maker Nikola Corp and Twitter (now X), accused the Adani Group of orchestrating “the largest con in corporate history.” The report claimed that the conglomerate used a complex network of offshore companies in tax havens to inflate revenues and manipulate stock prices while accumulating significant debt.Despite the Adani Group’s strong denial of these accusations, the report caused a sharp decline in the group’s stock prices, erasing over USD 150 billion in market value across its 10 listed companies at their lowest point.
However, most of these companies have since recovered their losses.Following the Hindenburg report, the Supreme Court of India directed the market regulator SEBI to investigate and formed an expert panel to examine potential regulatory lapses. The panel did not issue any negative findings against Adani, and the Supreme Court concluded that no additional investigations were necessary beyond SEBI’s ongoing inquiry.SEBI informed the Supreme Court-appointed panel that it was investigating 13 opaque offshore entities holding between 14% and 20% in five publicly traded stocks of the conglomerate. It remains unclear if these two ongoing investigations have since been completed.(With inputs from agencies)Catch all the Budget News , Business News , Breaking News Events and Latest News Updates on Live Mint. BJP Prioritizes Ideology Over National Interest: Opposition Reacts to Lifting Ban on Government Employees in RSS
The recent central government order lifting the long-standing ban on government employees participating in RSS activities has ignited a political firestorm. Ahead of the Budget Session of the Lok Sabha, this move has been met with sharp criticism from opposition parties, while the RSS and BJP have staunchly defended it.
Tumblr media
The Controversial Order
Earlier this month, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pension issued an order lifting the ban on government employees engaging in RSS activities. This ban, initially imposed in 1966, was deemed “unconstitutional” by the RSS and BJP, who argue that it should never have been implemented.
Silence from Allies
Allies such as the Janata Dal (United) and Rashtriya Lok Dal have remained silent on the matter. JD(U) national spokesperson K C Tyagi refused to comment, while RLD national spokesperson Mohammad Islam indicated he would discuss the issue within the party before making any statements.
Opposition’s Outcry
The opposition, however, has not held back. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh took to social media to highlight the order, pointing out the historical context of the ban, which was reinforced in 1966 despite assurances from the RSS after Gandhi’s assassination. Ramesh criticized the government, noting the recent strain in relations between the Modi administration and the RSS.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi condemned the order, stating it threatens India’s integrity and unity. He emphasized that the RSS has historically refused to accept the Constitution, national flag, and national anthem, making it incompatible with civil service duties.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi expressed concerns about the potential bias in government agencies, stating that the order allows officials to overtly display their RSS affiliations. She criticized the BJP for prioritizing ideological interests over national interests.
Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien voiced his disappointment, while BSP president Mayawati accused the government of appeasing the RSS for political gains, calling the order politically motivated and against national interests.
Defending the Decision
In contrast, the RSS and BJP defended the lifting of the ban. RSS publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar argued that the Sangh has been a constructive force in nation-building and disaster response, making the ban unjustified. He claimed that the decision strengthens India’s democratic system.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya echoed these sentiments, calling the original 1966 ban unconstitutional. He highlighted the historical context of the ban following a massive anti-cow-slaughter protest and noted that even Indira Gandhi had considered lifting the ban in 1977 for political support.
Conclusion
As the debate rages on, the central government’s decision to lift the ban on government employees participating in RSS activities continues to polarize political opinions. While the RSS and BJP see it as a correction of historical wrongs, the opposition views it as a dangerous blending of state and ideology that undermines national interests.

Mamata Banerjee Pushed From The Back? Doctor Explains What He Really Meant
Tumblr media
A day after suggesting that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered a fall at her Kalighat residence due to a push from behind, SSKM Hospital director Manimoy Bandyopadhyay clarified today. He stated that he merely meant Banerjee may have felt a sensation of push, retracting the previous statement regarding the cause of her injuries to her forehead and nose.
Mamata Banerjee, aged 69, sustained significant injuries to her forehead and nose following a fall within her Kalighat residence in South Kolkata on Thursday evening. Dr. Bandyopadhyay clarified, stating, “There was a sensation of pushing from behind which resulted in Ms. Banerjee’s fall. Our responsibility is to provide treatment, and we have fulfilled that. There was a misunderstanding regarding my previous statement.”
On Thursday evening, the director of SSKM Hospital stated that Mamata Banerjee experienced a fall near her home, attributing it to a push from behind. This assertion led to widespread confusion and speculation regarding the cause of the incident involving the Trinamool Congress leader.
Following the fall, Banerjee received medical attention and underwent necessary procedures at the hospital, including receiving three stitches on her forehead and one on her nose. She also underwent medical tests, including brain imaging and an ECG, before being discharged.
Doctors have advised Mamata Banerjee to rest and have reported her condition as clinically stable as of this morning. Further routine checks are planned throughout the day to monitor her recovery progress. This update comes amidst ongoing concerns and interest in the health status of the prominent political figure.
An official informed the news agency PTI on Friday that the Chief Minister’s health remains stable, with senior doctors closely monitoring her overnight. Another assessment of her condition is scheduled. Regarding speculations surrounding the cause of her fall, a police officer told Press Trust of India that no complaints have been filed. However, security around the CM’s residence has been heightened as a precautionary measure. Mamata Banerjee receives “Z category” security cover, with a dedicated team of officers overseeing her safety, even at her residence. Pictures showing Banerjee with bleeding from her forehead were shared by the TMC on Thursday evening, further fueling public interest and concern about her well-being.
Abhishek, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and national general secretary of the party, transported her to the hospital in his vehicle and facilitated her admission. This action underscores the familial and political ties within the Trinamool Congress, as family members step in to support their leader during times of need.

Sandeshkhali: SC stays LS notices to West Bengal chief secretary, DGP on complaint of BJP MP
Tumblr media
The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the notices issued by the privileges committee of the Lok Sabha Secretariat to the West Bengal chief secretary, DGP and others over a complaint of "misconduct" filed against them by BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar.
Majumdar sustained injuries last week as BJP workers clashed with police personnel after being stopped from going to violence-hit Sandeshkhali in West Bengal.
A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and justices JB Pardiwla and Manoj Misra took note of the submissions of senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for the state officials, and stayed the notices issued seeking their presence at 10.30 am on Monday.
The counsel for the Lok Sabha secretariat opposed the grant of stay by the top court, saying this is the first sitting of the privileges committee.
“They are not being accused of anything. This is a regular process. Once an MP sends a notice and the speaker thinks there is something to look into then notices are issued,” the counsel said.
West Bengal Chief Secretary Bhagwati Prasad Gopalika and Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar were summoned by the Lok Sabha Secretariat to appear on Monday.
The bench issued notices to the Lok Sabha Secretariat and others and sought their responses in four weeks and in the meanwhile stayed the proceedings before the panel of the lower House.
The MP and others were stopped from entering Sandeshkhali, where women have been agitating over alleged atrocities committed against them by Trinamool Congress leader Shajahan Sheikh and his aides.
Sandeshkhali has been tense with a large number of women in the locality accusing Trinamool Congress strongman Shajahan Sheikh and his supporters of "land-grab and sexually assaulting" them under coercion.
