I was very pleased to come across this butterfly, the common birdwing, recently. Although it is fairly common, I had not had a chance to try and photograph it before. Common Birdwing - Troides helena cerberus

This beautiful butterfly is a female Common Birdwing, Troides helena cerberus (Papilionidae), which can be distinguished from the male because her hindwings have a complete series of rather large submarginal black spots, while the male has just one or a few submarginal spots.

The Common Birdwing has a wingspan up to 140 mm. This subspecies can be found in North India, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia and Indo-China.
