Quebec's English universities are experiencing significant drops in out-of-province and international enrolment, leading to financial strain that school officials attribute to province's tuition hikes. Initially, Quebec planned to charge new out-of-province Canadian students $17,000 but settled on $12,000 by mid-December, still a $3,000 increase. While the hike was reduced, the damage was already done as potential students set their sights elsewhere, according to Graham Carr, president and vice-chancellor of Concordia University.

Institutional access to paywalled articles is basically the same as a deal with Hermaeus Mora but the debt you're in for all eternity is less fantastical and interesting

The cost of going to university in Wales is going up from September. Undergraduate university tuition fees are being raised to £9,250-a-year in line with the cost in England and the rest of the UK, the Welsh Government announced in February. Grants currently available to postgraduate Master’s students will also be replaced fully by repayable student loans. That change will apply to new students in 2024/25. University vice chancellors in Wales had long lobbied for higher tuition fees, saying £9,000 a year did not cover their costs and put them at a competitive disadvantage with institutions across the border who brought in more money for fees. But it seems even this will not be enough to stem mass job losses and cuts.

Most graduates have no hope of paying off their fees, and those fees no longer cover the cost of many degrees. Leaving universities reliant on private investment and overcharging international students.
It's time to admit the system is broken, abolish fees and fund university education properly. Education benefits us all and we should be proud of having some of the best in the world.

Keir Starmer will no longer scrap tuition fees. Just what does his Labour Party stand for?
“No leader of a major political party has so comprehensively junked their leadership platform in British democratic history. When Tony Blair ran for leader in 1994, he did not pose as a Bennite before abruptly shifting rightwards. Blair’s broad vision for both party and country was clear from the start. To Gordon Brown’s credit, he had a much clearer set of political values than Starmer, but was unable to translate that into a clear offer when he became prime minister. ‘You’d imagine that after 10 years of waiting, and 10 years complaining about Tony, we would have some idea of what we are going to do, but we don’t seem to have any policies,’ one of his lieutenants complained at the time. The result? His government was buffeted by events, ending up in a perpetual tailspin.
“This risks being the fate of a Starmer government. It would come to power in far more adverse circumstances than Brown suffered: the legacy of 14 years of slash-and-burn cuts, neglected services and infrastructure, a collapsing NHS and falling living standards. Without a clear sense of purpose, let alone answers to basic questions – where will the money come from to pay for rebuilding public services across the board? – crisis and disappointment may swiftly follow.
“Having a clear vision isn’t some nerdy abstraction for wonks: it’s what keeps a government anchored, rather than drifting at the mercy of circumstance. And so Starmer’s deceit may have bought him the leadership of his party, but may well sink him in government.”

Former premier Jean Charest is speaking out against tuition hikes for out-of-province students at Quebec universities to defend his hometown school of Bishop’s University.
Charest, whose plans to raise tuition fees at universities in 2012 led to massive student protests and ultimately to his downfall as leader of the province, spoke out to CJAD’s Andrew Carter against the move by the Quebec government to nearly double tuition fees for students from other provinces.

As in the first and second semester, my mother and I paid my tuition fee at BNI bank. I forgot to take a photo when I was at the bank, so I just took a photo of the proof of payment from the bank, which is this photo (sorry I cropped it, hehe).
Sorry it took me a while to post this because I often forget to post this. By the way, I've received my semester book package for this third semester, I'll post the photos of it later but hey, I don't think I've posted the photos of the books for the second semester either.
