The Death Toll of the Earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria may have reached 20,000 people, and that’s outside of all those who are injured and lost.
If you could donate PLEASE do!!!
Here’s a post full of charities you could donate to, but I’ll add my own trustworthy ones here:
Islamic Relief:  teams are on the ground right now providing emergency food assistance, shelter, medical supplies to hospitals and clinics, as well as blankets and tents for those made homeless by the quake in Turkey and Syria
Molham: The team at Molham are currently on the ground helping displaced families in Turkey and Syria who have been affected by the earthquake
The White Helmets: The team are on the ground in Northwest Syria searching for survivors and removing the dead from the rubble.
MSF: remaining in close contact with the local authorities in northwestern Syria and with the authorities in Turkey to extend their support where it’s needed. They’re providing essential life kits to displaced people in the region
please PLEASE reblog. Syria and Turkiye need our help!!!

Turkey has filed a case against Israel in the International Criminal Court.
For their ongoing genocide of the Palestinians.
"Today... we have filed a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court in The Hague against the Hitler of the 21st century of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, who must stand trial for the genocide he committed in the Gaza Strip and all crimes against humanity."
And it's not just Turkey.
Algeria has filed a case against Israel with the International Criminal Court.
With their president Abdelmadjid Tebboune saying "Where is humanity? And where is the global conscience that has become absent regarding the genocide being committed?”
Algeria's case is being backed by Colombia.
3 Palestinian organisations Al-Haq, al-Mezan, and the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights are filing their own case against Israel in the International Criminal Court.

hi, if you want to help people affected by the earthquakes in turkey but don't want to support government-affiliated channels, AKUT and AHBAP are two trusted non-governmental organizations you can donate. AKUT's website supports english and this tweet shows how you can donate to AHBAP (the website does not support english as of now). HAYTAP is another turkish organization that helps our animal friends and you can see how you can donate to them here. this twitter account shares multiple translations for people to find medicine, food, water, and other supplies in the region.
multiple earthquakes killed already more than 14 thousand people already and it's very cold. every little bit helps, thank you.
editing to add: this linktree also has additional resources for syria as well although i cannot confirm if they're reliable, please let me know!

oh my god, i just read some news about an earthquake in turkey, are you okay??
hello anon, thank you for checking in with me! I'm thankfully not that close to Kahramanmaraş where the M7.7 earthquake happened, me and my family made it out of our building safely and were only frightened.
For those who don't know, the southern part of Turkey (Kahramanmaraş as the epicenter) along with northern Syria were hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 followed by aftershocks and another wave of a 7.6 magnitude hours later. I cannot speak for what's happening in Syria but they are in dire need of help as well.
The entire region is devastated with more than 3000 deaths (and counting, news channels are hiding the real amount, or so they say) and 10s of thousands of injured and an unfathomable amount of people still stuck under the rubble, it has left hundreds of thousands homeless. The earthquake hit 4 a.m. at night, so many were caught defenseless and disoriented in their sleep.
The damage is this unbelievably devastating because the southeastern areas are criminally underdeveloped, and help cannot get anywhere in time due to collapsed roads and because the ratio of helpers to those who are in need of help are severely lacking. In some areas, people have been waiting for help for an entire day now, and no government aid has arrived.
We are in the middle of a snowstorm and people are dying of hypothermia if not from fallen buildings. Don't go searching for these videos if you're faint of heart, but I have to say that people are sending help calls and videos from under the rubble, some cities and towns still haven't received any support at all and people are still under rubble. The way their loved ones are trying to lift rocks and debris with their own hands is just... saying it's extremely upsetting is an understatement. The numbers of collapsed buildings and those fighting for life under are unfathomable.
It's so bad that Turkey has declared a state four level emergency, it's an international call for help.
Thoughts and prayers are heartwarming and mean a lot, but if you're able to donate just one dollar/euro or anything at all, please do. Turkish Lira is at an all time low right now, we are in the middle of an economic crisis. Imagine some currency is 20 dollars each, that's how bad it is.
1 dollar = 18 turkish liras 1 euro = 20 turkish liras
Therefore, this kind of money is lifechanging right now, so don't feel bad you aren't doing anything by donating so little, you're making considerable change. If you're able to help, please help.
Here are places you can donate to and explanations of the work they do

Prehistoric piercings may have been coming-of-age ritual
Tumblr media
Archaeologists have discovered more than 100 ornaments for use in piercings in ~11,000-year-old adult burials in Türkiye, providing the earliest conclusive evidence for body perforation and suggesting that piercing may have been a coming-of-age ritual.
Earring-like objects have been found at Neolithic sites in South-west Asia before, but there was no clear evidence for their use in piercings.
"We knew that there were earring-like artifacts in the Neolithic, they have been found at many sites," says co-author of the research, Dr. Emma Baysal from Ankara University. "But we were lacking in situ finds confirming their use on the human body before the late Neolithic." Read more.

so, when I first got news last night that Turkey and Syria had been hit by an earthquake, I posted that we didn't know how bad it was yet but that I'd post some charities to donate to once there was more news out. well, it's bad. it's really fucking bad. it's 2,000 dead and counting bad.
AKUT: !!! Turkish-based search and rescue NGO
Doctors without borders, as always they're some of the best NGOs out there
Syrian American Medical Society for Syria-specific help
Union of Medical Relief and Care Organizations (UOSSM)
Save the Children
Turkish Red Crescent
The White Helmets: Syria grassroots charity
globalgiving
One of the best things you can do right now is donate blood. Turkey was already running critically low on their reserves and Syria has been getting fucked by Russia (surprise!) since 2015. if you're able to donate, please donate blood!

🇹🇷🇵🇸 MASSIVE RALLY TODAY IN ISTANBUL, TURKIYE IN SOLIDARITY WITH PALESTINIANS UNDER SIEGE AND BOMBARDMENT IN GAZA
A massive rally of thousands of people standing in solidarity with Palestine is ongoing in Istanbul, Turkiye on Friday as Turkish President, Racep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the "Great Palestine Meeting" as it is being called.
The Turkish President invited the entire nation to join the rally to show their support for Palestinians suffering under Israeli occupation and bombardment. Erdogan called on the rally to show “brotherhood between Turks and Palestinians to the world.”
With Palestinian and Turkish flags waving in the crowds that, by some estimates, has reached over 1.5 million across Turkiye, Erdogan told the rally that Western nations were responsible for the current crisis in the Middle East.
"The main culprit behind the massacre unfolding in Gaza is the West," Erdogan told his nation. "If we leave aside some conscientious voices... the massacre in Gaza is entirely the work of the West."
Erdogan also accused Israel of acting as a "War Criminal."
"Of course, every country has the right to defend itself. But where is the justice in this case?"
In addition, Erdogan accused Western Countries of "shedding [crocodile] tears" over the deaths of Ukrainian civilians in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, while turning a blind-eye to the suffering and murder of Palestinians.
"We are against all these double standards and all these hypocrisies," Erdogan told the throngs gathered in support of Palestine.
Erdogan went on to accuse Israel's allies of creating a "crusade war atmosphere" to encourage conflict in the region.
"Listen to our call for dialogue," President Erdogan said. "No one loses from a just peace."
Aside from President Erdogan, various Turkish Party leaders, state authorities, and officials from different countries are expected to give remarks at the rally, along with representatives of the media, arts, sports, culture and business interests in Turkiye.
According to the updated figures on the war in Gaza, 7'703 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli air strikes and shelling, with more than 3'500 of those deaths among children. Another 17'000+ have been wounded.
