No, seriously, I think that some people just choose to consume than to just enjoy.

They'll say an arc sucks now and be like "the story was good before" but then probably was that same person who wanted the story to pick up pace or have a "better MC" or so used to the same old formula that when they decide to dive into something new, and probably for popularity reasons, they think the story isn't good.

Or!! Shipping! Let's be real, some of you think an arc is bad because it doesn't cater to your fucking ship as if it was important in the first place! I like my ships, but I also like my characters without said ships FIRST.

I get it if the pacing is bad, hell, I write and I have an issue with that with myself sometimes. Or maybe something doesn't matter sense.

But, just me and I don't intend for anyone else to do this, I also like to go back and reread details and research beyond the story like interviews and or extra character info to understand the story better. And sometimes, I won't even put pacing on the fault of the creator because they do work under people who pressure them to put something out. (And you fandoms aren't any better in that regard.)

The funny thing is... watch years from now the same "critics" are going to go "Oh, maybe that story was good!"

I think I’m gonna redo my Beltane ritual tomorrow since it’s the “real” date and the full moon anyway. And I should be able to go outside this time lol.

I still need to edit the part I don’t like though.

I have always had a hard time relating to this holiday. It feels so heteronormative, binary and focused on procreation that it’s a bit alienating for me.

But I read a blog post yesterday about the holiday representing an end to (winter) seasonal depression for the writer and that I can understand. For me, Imbolc not only represents what it does but also the light coming back and the depression starting to lift, and Beltane feels like the end of that process. And also, when it gets warmer my joints hurt less. It’s like a return to being a person, mostly.

And you know what? I think that’s okay. I don’t like celebrating holidays for no reason (I am just once for my bardic course, just to give ‘em a try) but if there’s a practical element, it’s much more likely to ‘stick’ for me.

So yeah. Giving it another shot tomorrow. Just probably without the wand-in-chalice, etc imagery 😒

So my last post is really buggy. Tumblr keeps deleting the end of the story, despite me trying to add it back in via edits. So, please ignore for now as it’s incomplete. I will attempt to repost it tomorrow and hope tumblr decides to show all the content instead of randomly cutting off wherever it likes 😅

I’m just now starting Frost & Starlight but I’m dreading Silver Flames. I loved that we got to see Cassian, and more Azriel, and parts of Nesta’s redemption were beautiful to experience. Also the Nesta/Cassian storyline, once she stops being cruel to him, is sooooo cute. Him learning to dance and getting the music for her 🥹

But there are some truly tedious parts of this book that I am not looking forward to. Before I even joined fandom, Gw*n was my least fav and I skimmed almost all of her scenes. A lot of the library/priestess stuff was a trudge. And then the fact that I can’t really remember 75% of this 800+ page book does not bode well.
