Hello, I haven't used tumblr in a while but I used to be an avid user--
I've been searching online for a way to find out about a few countries but reddit-no dice and I pretty much ran out of ideas after that so here I am on tumblr trying to find some assistance. If you've been or live in one of these countries...Tell me about it :)
1)Yemen (specifically Al-Saleh Mosque)
2)Ughyur (International Bazaar) - I know how unlikely it will be that I find someone on here that knows anything about this country and what's going on but I'm shooting my shot.
3)Al Aqsa Mosque/ Palestine in general
4) Syria (Damascus -Umayyad Mosque)
5)Iran (Nasir Al Mulk Mosque)
6) Somalia (Hargeysa)
Thank you in advance to everyone who is able to help.

Let's see 500k people in the street in NYC for the Palestinians who are living under an *actual* [apartheid in Lebanon](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinians_in_Lebanon#:~:text=Palestinians%20are%20in%20a%20'grey,refugees%20are%20not%20fairly%20protected.) right now. Shouldn't this be headline news for people who claim to be pro Palestinian? In fact shouldn't their crap treatment across the Middle East be a subject of concern?
Could it be at least mentioned by the educators and full time activists to people at marches who might not know? Why don't the professors preaching to these kids mention it in their classes? Don't claim they don't know. That's absurd. It's their job to know. Why aren't they informing people?
The US [funds Lebanon's Army ](https://apnews.com/article/politics-united-states-government-lebanon-business-19e414af05493d71adcbf0f49d638141) by the way - you know, the army that enforces apartheid on Palestinians? Yeah. American taxpayers pay for that. Weird how the activists and educators don't mention it.
No? Not even a mention? Just *one* set of oppressed Palestinians gets all the attention? Why is that?
I mean how long have we known about the Ughyurs? It's a big counter China narrative in US media and has been for years. Not a single protest to divest from China until the genocide ends, not even by brother Muslims. Why? Where are the hunger strikes?
The US could not be further intertwined economically with China. Muslim activists in the US can't even ask the US government to impose some sort *tariff* on Chinese goods until the genocide stops? They'll block a bridge and let people die in ambulances for Palestine, why are the Ughyurs so shafted?

Am I wrong for thinking that there’s a link between cancel culture and pro censorship? I don’t know… the whole thing of, ‘if you say or do the wrong thing, your career or life will be ruined and destroyed’ is quite disturbing to me. And yes, I understand that there’s nuance to it. E.g. someone like Trump or Weinstein or R. Kelly should probably not be in the same vicinity as most people because they pose a danger to the public and their employees (who could get raped or some shit. Trafficked maybe). Or someone like that lady from Baby Reindeer should be “cancelled” because she actually harms lots of people.
But society has created this culture of making individuals feel scared of saying the wrong thing in fear of their lives getting ruined. People wonder why more celebrities don’t speak up about the genocide in Palestine, well maybe it’s because if they say what people have deemed is the “wrong thing” they’ll lose their livelihood? It’s a double edged sword.
If they are pro Palestine, the pro Israel camp will crucify them and they’ll lose endorsements. If they’re pro Israel, the pro Palestine camp will crucify them and they’ll lose endorsements. So most choose to remain silent. But they’re crucified for that as well.
The Israel/Palestine issue does have nuance, it’s not as black and white as people say and I’m saying that as someone who is very pro Palestine. I was HORRIFIED at the amount of antisemitism thrown at Jewish people for mourning their loved ones and their loved ones’ loved ones on the 7th of Oct. Bullied people into absolute silence using antisemitism. But I’m also simultaneously horrified at the Islamophobia and anti Arab sentiment being spread around.
People tried to cancel Hozier because his statement wasn’t pro Palestine enough, same with Lewis Hamilton. God forbid someone shows compassion towards CITIZENS (not the government but CITIZENS). Same with Neil Gaiman, a literal Jewish man. God forbid he show compassion towards JEWISH PEOPLE.
[and yes, I’m aware that Judaism ≠ Zionism, but 73.6% of Israelis are Jewish people and majority (not all) of Israelis are Zionists, so are Jewish people abroad not allowed to feel sad about the deaths of other Jewish people?]
And reducing people to one statement is horrible. If someone is pro Israel, I don’t think that makes them a bad person overall just because of their one opinion. Someone could be pro Israel and a stand up guy. Someone could be pro Palestine and a bully towards everyone in their life, does them being pro Palestine erase the fact that they’re a horrible person? Does someone being pro Israel erase all of the good things they’ve done in their life?
Idk man, to me, cancel culture and censorship are two sides of the same coin. Censorship is done by corporations and businesses while Cancel culture is done by society. Both the same thing though.
And side note, if people think that all Israelis are sick and evil people, does this logic apply to Russians when it comes to Ukrainians? Or Chinese people when it comes to the Ughyurs? Or the Turkish when it comes to Armenians? Or Dominicans when it comes to Haitians?
Is every single Israeli/Russian/Chinese/Turkish/Dominican/etc a sick psychopath while every single Palestinian/Ukrainian/Ughyur/Armenian/Haitian/etc a wonderful soft and delicate fairy?
Is Obama a pure and good man simply because he supports Palestine? What about all of the Arab blood that he has on his hands? Is Zelenskyy an evil man for supporting Israel? What about all that he’s done and has been doing to support the Ukrainian people, his people? Which action are you going to reduce them to? The good one or the evil one?
My point is that black and white thinking will be the death of this earth as we know it.
And to reiterate, I am pro Palestine and do not support Zionism.
That’s just current culture with rise of social media and everyone having to be in everything ( regardless if it effects or about them)
I’ve seen people get upset at YouTubers for holding Starbucks cup in frame of their video. Followed by comments going “ how could you support them!!!?” Followed by said youtuber having to explain “ hey that’s old cup I reuse etc etc I’m not in loop but I support xyz”
That type of knee jerk reaction is very (??) cause on global scale YouTuber with 100k subscribers having product that supports a certain group ain’t really helping the main cause.

Idk I’m Muslim. I know I’m not Arab or Palestinian but the way the U.S. govt talks abt this has been giving me early 2000s flashbacks.
Theres such tragedy in being Muslim American because you’ve seen the ethnic cleansing and attacks of so many Muslim majority groups globally (Kashmir, Iraq, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Lebanon, Ughyurs, always Palestine and Iran)

"Dulu, mereka (sahabat Nabi) mohon pada Allah sejak 6 bulan sebelum Ramadhan agar sampai ke bulan itu, dan berdoa 6 bulan setelah Ramadhan agar Allah Terima amal mereka."
Lah kita, jangankan 6 bulan, bahkan puluhan hari menuju ramadhan aja masih biasa aja, ga mempersiapkan apa-apa, bahkan masih punya hutang puasa juga bodo amat.

It’s kind of heartbreaking for western world to talk so harshly about Qatar when they have their own set of hypocrisies to work at. Qatar has welcomed everyone for the game. They may have not allowed beer inside the stadium and yet installed 200 booths for beer outside the field. They just asked people to respect their culture and belief in public.
Why is there never enough hate about Islamophobia in France? Germany proposing bills on hijab ban and ozil quitting the national team due to discrimination and racism while the team displays LGBT support on national tv. Where was this commotion when China hosted winter Olympics while the ughyur muslims are prisoned and treated like animals to this day? Why is Iran still playing with their recent human rights violation? Why don’t we condemn Iran and the kind of extremism that is actually unacceptable? The world is witnessing Palestine vanish in thin air but Qatar asking people to respect their values is worse.
this is just pure definition of whataboutism. I'm sorry but I'm not gonna respect 'values' such as putting gay people in jail and treating women like they are inferior species. but this is exactly what happens when you mix religion with law

I hate how word genocide has been trivialized these days. Instead of meaning "destruction of people" , these days it means every incident that kills more than 10 people. It's infuriating to scroll through various fandoms and see people call any mass murder genocide.
But I feel it lost almost all meaning during Gaza discourse. Everything that happens in Gaza is labeled as genocide. And if person elaborates, it's usually something along the lines of: (insert whatever number they are currently parroting) people died and buildings were reduced to rubble.
It's almost bizarre that reasoning Pro Pals use in context of supposed genocide in Gaza is similar to one used by Neonazis in regards to late WW2 incidents like Dresden bombing.
People miss the point of genocide, it's not about how many people died or how many buildings were damaged, it's about intent to destroy ethnic/racial/religious group.
If Israel wanted, they could have destroyed the population of Gaza. There would be no safe zones or retreat corridors and they would have indiscriminately murdered whoever they could find.
And once again, it's not about the numbers even if we go by number they are currently parroting which is 180k. In the War of Triple Alliance, Paraguay lost 90% of its male population. No sane individual would say that was Paraguayan genocide. On the other hand, Srebrenica massacre is recognized as genocide despite "only" 8k people being killed (fraction of Bosniak population). Why? Because Paraguayan war casualties were result of dictator Lopez refusing to surrender and continuing the war through any means necessary, while Karadžić stated at multiple occasions their goal was destruction of Muslim population of Bosnia.
Casualties in Gaza are result of Hamas trying to survive through any means necessaries, hiding like cockroaches among the civilians. Labeling Israel's actions as genocide will encourage future regimes to use similar tactics with the intent of garnering international sympathy and support. It will also encourage more incidents like October 7th since they'll know that Israel won't be able to retaliate without being labeled as genocidal regime.
Dear anon
thank you for the essay
one thing "Israel COULD have destroyed Gaza and it's people, so be grateful they're only bombing it to hell" is kahanist rhetoric, I don't want to see it on my blog
the same people who believe in a genocide in gaza also deny the holodomor, the armenian and ughyur genocide and Russia's culture genocide against Ukraine
It's tankie hypocrisy and holocaust inversion EVERY time
please write again,
Cecil
