Henry's acting...CAGEY. Honestly, Alex doesn't know WHY, or what it is that sets him off, but he can tell that something is bothering the other man. They've been friends for over a year now, and Alex is taking the last chance he gets to spend some time with Henry in London before he'll be busy going off to college, and he doesn't want to spend that time being awkward for no fucking reason.

The ARC Captain held a t'an between his fingers, examining the game piece before slotting it into the puzzle. Though his modus operandi was considered unsophisticated, he was perfectly capable of impressive tactical feats. It suited him just fine, for allowing his enemies to underestimate him was a tactic in and of itself.

"I take it there's more to this game than simply constructing the shape." When his next turn arrived, he placed the piece opposite the first, symmetrically, and watched for the Vulcan's reaction.

They'd been watching a movie, one of Barry's picks but somehow halfway through they'd become preoccupied with other things. It had only started as a quick little peck because he'd had the cutest reaction to something in the movie, then it had graduated to something not at all like a little peck. They'd been kissing for a few minutes now, and she'd pulled away from his lips, only to begin kissing along his jaw, then moving downwards, focusing on his neck, and finally along his collarbone, allowing him the ability to focus on the movie again, or get distracted once more.

It's not that he doesn't LIKE Henry. He does, fucking hell, they've been pretty much best friends ever since meeting in Rio, when Alex had found him hiding in one of the adjacent rooms to the party and simply had REFUSED to leave when he'd felt the oncoming signs of a panic attack with the other boy. He'd held Henry through it, and that had been that, until he'd gotten a text back in Washington, and it had been the two of them against the rest of the world ever since.

They didn't have as much time to see each other, with Henry busy with his engagements for the crown and Alex at college, but there'd been texts and calls almost every day, and whenever they see each other at events across the globe, they gravitate towards each other. It had been ENOUGH for Alex, enough to the point where he hadn't even bothered about looking for his soulmate, but it's only now that he realizes the ERROR of his ways. That, maybe, he hadn't been looking for his soulmate because he'd already found him.

It's a terrifying though, though, because what if it DOESN'T WORK? Just because someone's your soulmate doesn't mean you can make it work, he had seen it happen before, and the impact these things have had on relationships had been terrible.

The thing is: He'd seen Henry without a shirt on, too, but it had always been stolen glances, like he hadn't allowed himself to fully look, like he's doing NOW, where he can clearly see the small, heart shaped mark on the right side of Henry's ribcage, exactly where Alex' own has always been. There's no way out of it, now, not when they're spending the long weekend at the lake house, and Alex had all but JUMPED at the chance to spend some time with Henry. "Hey," he says, trying not to let his voice sound SHAKY. "You know what? I think I changed my mind, I don't feel like swimming. We should go into town, get some stuff for a barbecue, what do you think?"

There's NO WAY IN HELL Alex is taking his shirt off right now.
