I did eye Apo's necklace during the live, but then Mileapocloset (who is a hero) identified it as a pendant necklace from Dior:

And you can see that comes with a ring attached. IDK if he got to chose this necklace himself or a stylist chose it for him, but even if it's the latter option, I think it's someone paying attention to Apo's personal style and choices. So... as an idea, yeah. It could still be connected to Apo's love for his own rings on his necklace.

Just a summary (click here for more details and pics): Mile has had a double circle silver ring for years, way before he met Apo again. While Apo has had more than one trinket necklace, as far as I can tell it looks like the two silver rings joined together by a heart only appeared (at least in online pics) in Sep 2021, so by the time Apo gets them (whether he chose the rings himself or got them as a gift), he knows Mile's ring quite well. That means it is, in theory, possible that Apo got those with an intended connection to Mile, and it's what he expresses every time he wears the trinket necklace with the rings.

Honestly, he appreciated your strength and resilience… especially against Ace since that little stinker tends to get into a lot of trouble. You both often clashed heads, and Cater has been there to record and post it on his Magicam.

Speaking of, this is after you get over your camera shyness. You told him that you didn’t think you were very photogenic, and he just told you that you needed to learn how to get in touch with your good side. So, he takes this opportunity to help lead you and get closer to you.

What he wasn’t expecting was you not knowing how to smile. Everyone knew how to smile! Well, everyone except you, apparently. So he went online and searched up ways to make people smile. One thing came up, and he was excited to try it.

The next morning, you woke up to your doorbell ringing. You opened it to see Cater standing there with a bouquet of flowers that he picked up at Sam’s shop, and the kind gesture made you smile. He let out a cheer as he squealed about how he finally got the smile out of you, and you laughed at his antics.

You reminded him a lot of the women of his homeland: fierce people who were usually warriors and soldiers. In addition to this, he was a total simp for you and you didn’t even know it yet. When he saw how resourceful you were, it was over for him. He was down on his knee and holding a ring in his hand.

When he visits home, it upsets him when he writes so many letters to his parents about you but he has no pictures of you to show them how beautiful you were. So, he asked if he could take a picture of you, but you said no since you didn’t know how to smile.

Now, he has put many smiles on people’s faces within his life thus far, so he was confident in his abilities to bring one to yours. Ruggie decided that there was no gift like freshly prepared and well-made food to make you smile, so he set to work.

The hyena decided to surprise you on the way to lunch, since you both liked walking together to the cafeteria on days where Leona went to classes in-person. He handed you a container filled with a nice, warm meal, and you smiled at the kind gesture. He quickly snapped a picture, putting it as his lock-screen and homescreen, just so he can always be reminded of you.

Yeah, he fell in love with you when you attacked him with the boat paddle you always carried the first time he tried to give you a big squeeze. No one had ever fought back as bravely as you did, so he fell and he fell hard. 

There was one time where he asked why you never smiled, and he was shocked to learn that you simply didn’t know how. So now he was an eel on a mission: Operation Make Y/N Smile or Die Trying. He did thorough research, too.

He first tried to tell jokes, but a lot of them were really cheesy and dumb. Not really smile material, rather getting a huff out of your nose at the most. He was getting frustrated, and that got him in a bad mood for the entirety of the day. Not even you could cheer him up.

Eventually, you were fed up with his attitude and confronted him about it. He explained why he was upset, and that was enough to get you to laugh. This brightened his mood significantly as he exclaimed loudly about finally being able to see your smile.

Kalim Al-Asim

Mans tries to be friends with everyone, so it was no surprise that he tried to be friends with you. He thought you were interesting, since you were the only student without magic in a school full of students that have a natural affinity towards magic. He applauded your determination and diligence within your academics, and looked up to you because of it.

However, he noticed that he had never seen you smile, and it was very disheartening. So, he decided to try and make you laugh. He noticed that him spoiling you didn’t really make you smile, but you were still grateful for it all.

He tried jokes, wearing a really weird outfit, smiling at you whenever you both saw each other, but nothing was working. Kalim wasn’t discouraged, though. He became even more determined whenever his attempts failed.

Now, he was down to his last idea. He took you on a magic carpet ride. And lo and behold, there was a smile on your face as you both flew through the sky. You felt as though if you reached above you, you could touch the moon, and the breeze that ran across your skin was just heavenly. Kalim was glad to know that this made you smile, since he would love to do it more often.

Vil Schoenheit

You had a resilience that he admired. You weren’t a pushover, and you didn’t let anyone walk all over you. Vil has seen you beat both Ace and Epel since they decided to underestimate you very often.

When you both got into a relationship, he wanted to take at least one picture of you so he can be reminded of you during a stressful day at work. That is when you admitted to him that you didn’t know how to smile.

Vil had a bit of an idea of what he could do. You watched as he went through his entire vanity looking for the softest but functional brushes that he owned, along with his best skincare products. You see, his goal was to tickle you while getting you ready for the photo.

He was glad to see that it worked, and he quickly got a few photos of you, which he later saved into a private folder that was locked to everyone else. After all, he wanted to protect your privacy since you were already stepping out of your comfort zone by letting him keep these pictures.

You reminded him of the stories he heard about his grandmother when she was younger. She used to be hard-headed, resilient, independent; all a good sign of being a crowned heir of the throne. You acted just like her.

However, you never smiled. Did you not like him? Would you rather him stay away and go back to going on nightly walks by himself? After voicing his concerns, you resolved the misunderstanding and explained that you simply didn’t know how to smile.

Malleus went to his retainers to ask for methods that might get a grin to grace your face, and Lilia had a very special idea that the prince was hesitant on, but eventually agreed to try. It had to do with the heart of his dragon hoard.

During your nightly walk that night, the dragon fae explained the courting process of his species of fae, and told you that the heart of his hoard was an emerald. He held it out, and told you that he wanted you to have it. Since you knew the symbolism behind it, you smiled at how much trust he was placing into your hands. You gently put the necklace around your neck and hugged the tall prince, and he returned it just as happy.

My nightmare trip: a summary

At this point I need a bingo card because this trip has been horrific and I'm ready to go back to the US. It's every day y'all, not one day has passed without some bullshit happening.

First, I'm dropped off in the middle of the road by my taxi driver, and had to find my way to some Wi-Fi to contact my host. The owner of the store got mad because I wouldn't buy a phone, and my host was forced to translate.

I can't use my credit or debit cards unless I order online. No atm has worked with them. It's apparently a well known problem with tourists in Vietnam, and I can't get cash. 90% of stores only take cash meaning I can't buy anything.

Second night something bit all over my arms. I thought it was bed bugs but it never happened again. The bites are still here almost two weeks later.

I then stubbed my toe so hard that skin broke and my toe nail turned black. Good times.

A few nights into the trip, an animal got stuck in my roof. Every night, it tries to escape, so I'm woken up around 2:00am-3:00am as it bangs around.

Yesterday afternoon the power went out. The water is connected to the power, so I had no water or electricity. It's winter friends, I was freezing, my devices were dying and I still can't get a sim card because I have no useable money. I walked to the store, texted my host and got no answer. So I sulked back and hoped I'd hear from her in the morning. She sent people that night, thankfully.

This morning, whilst singing Christmas songs and changing, the host’s mother walked in (after unlocking my gate and front door) without prior mention of her coming, so she got a full view of my boobs and horrified face. A gift for her, a trauma for me.

I'm about five seconds from taking my ass back to America. It's like the universe saw I was having too much fun and said “Naw babe we gotta get some bad things going 🙂”

And after all, what is better than an ordinary prom every nobody can be at? Tell you what, a lavish trip to Paris, Shanghai, Milan, Tokyo, Seoul or all of the above his princess can be happy and proud of, creating memories that will last a lifetime as opposed to some stupid, nonsense teenage dance, that, alongside the added bonus of a barrage of expensive gifts for her graduation which Terry lavishes her with to get her mood up, such as cars, branded clothes, an endangered pet lion cub on a silver chain leash for all Terry is concerned. The graduation ball doesn't deserve his kid anyway. She is worthier of some Met Gala anyway, in Terry's eyes. All her dreams come true within a fortnight, though. Money sure makes grieving easier, doesn't it? As for the boyfriend that bailed and betrayed his darling and screwed up such an important evening, well, Terry finds creative ways to make his and his parent's lives miserable because nobody breaks his angel's heart and walks off scot free. Revenge is to be had. Maybe Brad, Josh or Ted find that that prestigious college they applied at declined them. Maybe finding jobs becomes mysteriously difficult. Maybe their credit score is tampered with. Maybe, just maybe, papa Terry hires some skillful hacker to mess with any and every online accounts this punk has if this happens present day. Maybe the boyfriend gets attacked by someone and lo and behold, it leads to him having a police record. Maybe the boyfriend's father loses his job too. Maybe the mother does. Maybe their standing at the local country club spirals. Maybe their reputation ends up strangely smeared for unknown reasons and a number of dramatic events that befall them around this time. Maybe, again, if this happens present day, living in a city overrun by Cobra Kai thugs out to get you for their boss and boss' daughter is a literal death sentence and the Valley becomes difficult to dwell in for this family. Almost as if ever since Brad, Josh or Ted broke up with that one girl that one time, everything in their lives became hellish.

And kids, that's the price one pays for standing up Terry Silver's daughter.

Terry takes this break up with more offense and gravitas than his own princess.

Brad, Josh or Ted will be lucky wiggle out of this in one piece.

(Chapter 3 of Talks With Dad)

Slade waits all morning for the call to come.

He sets up his usual black coffee with no sugar, scrolls through his latest contract offers, combs his hair, shaves his sideburns (he liked the goatee look, sue him), brushes his teeth… and still, the call does not come.

It’s not like it matters if she takes a few extra hours to come to terms with what happened yesterday, he reminds himself, his gaze flickering to the phone he’s left on the sink. She will call. She has to. It’s not like she has anyone else, right?

Right?

Right?

Shaking his head at his own overthinking—of course Rose will call, who else would she turn to after being betrayed by her mentor, the very man who took her away from him in the first place?—he turns back to the sink and spits before grabbing a towel and wiping at his mouth. He’s being stupid. Being anxious is one thing, but being anxious for no reason is an unforgivable thing for a man like him, no matter the circumstances. He isn’t like the rest of the world, worrying about things they have no control over despite knowing things will probably work out fine in the end. He’s better than that—better than them. Smarter. More capable of seeing things clearly.

And still his eyes flicker to the phone.

With a sigh, he picks it up and walks back into the central area of his safe house, laying his phone down on the coffee table and fetching his coffee. He takes one sip of it and immediately spits it out—it tastes like ass, and he suddenly doesn’t know why he keeps insisting on taking his coffee black when he doesn’t even like it that way. When had he stopped trying to replicate the iced Asian coffee the locals supplied the base with in Vietnam? He’d loved that coffee more than most of his comrades. Sure, his attempts weren’t always great—something about the traditional process continued to elude him, and he refused to just look it up online or ask anyone from Vietnam about it—but they were better than this.

He should start trying again, he decides, throwing the coffee, cup and all, into the trash. Maybe Rose would like that. She’s not Vietnamese, sure… but was there really so much of a difference that she wouldn’t appreciate him trying to learn something about her culture? That seemed unlikely. Rose was easy to impress, at the end of the day, as long as you knew what to impress her with. She had no inclination towards fancy gifts or grand declarations, true, but the right words, the right gestures…

That’s what people didn’t get about Rose—and Slade has never understood why, because she makes it so painfully obvious. The truth is, Rose is far from the vengeful, aloof badass she likes to come across as. If you just told her she was smart, or brave, or cared for, or even just competent, she’d be falling at your feet to do anything you asked her to do faster than you could say ‘abandonment issues’. She would forgive you anything if you just said the right words and did the right things, and made her believe you meant them. It was that simple. Just tell Rose what she wanted to hear and she’d be yours, like a magnet to metal.

So why isn’t she calling?

He sighs again and walks back to the living room, picking up his tablet from the coffee table and pulling up the app he uses for his contracts before sitting down on the couch. He had spotted one from Black Mask earlier that he’d thought looked interesting. Nice payout, too. Maybe…

His one eye flickers to the phone again. It was dark as the midnight sea, devoid of any notifications that might indicate an attempt to contact him, save for the four white numbers indicating the time: 11:30 am.

She should have called already. She—

“Ah, screw it,” he curses, dropping his tablet on the sofa and leaning over to grab his phone. “Guess we’re doing this the hard way.”

He swiftly logs into the anonymous accounts he uses to keep an eye on her social media and swipes through them, finding no new posts in any of them that—oh! An idea turning in his head, he swipes out of her Ultragram page and looks up Wonder Girl’s public account, which has a yellow ring around it, indicating a new friends-only Tale. He quickly switches to his shadow account—a Blue Beetle “backup account” that none of the Titans have figured out doesn’t actually belong to him yet and logs back in, ignoring the curious mix of super-strength workout videos and pictures featuring various archeological artifacts Wonder Girl’s Ultagram page is composed of and clicking on the Tale.

The Tale opens to display a GIF of her seated next to a grumpy-looking Rose on what looks like a park bench. It takes a second to load, but when it does, Slade is forced to watch a grinning Wonder Girl put an arm around his daughter’s shoulders and lean in to kiss her cheek—and worse, he’s forced to watch Rose’s grumpy look morph into an unwilling smile at the Titan’s intrusion. By the time he manages to calm down, he has his mind made up on what he should do. The Titans might have their hooks deep into his daughter, but he knows he has his in deeper.

“Find exactly where they are,” he snarls into the miniature radio. “I’m going to pay my daughter a visit.”

“Easy,” he interrupts, not even looking up from the newspaper he’s pretending to read. Nonchalantly, he passes the page, the sunglasses over his eyes making it look like he really is paying attention despite his one good eye being focused entirely on them. “I come in peace.”

“Somehow I doubt that,” Wonder Girl snarls at the time Rose scoffs out, “Sure you are.”

“No, really,” he says, passing the page again as if bored. “What, is a parent not allowed to want to meet their daughter’s significant other these days?”

“Not when that parent is you,” Rose growls, taking a step forward, and he sighs.

“Rose, do we really have to do this every time?” he asks, clicking his tongue when Rose doesn’t answer. “Alright, fine. Hostages, hired goons, scattered around park, blah blah blah. You probably have enough gung-ho to rescue all of them without that many casualties, but why do that when all I ask is that you give me a few hours of your time and I’ll let them go?”

They both tense, clearly not looking forward to whatever it is that he has to say. He grins and closes the newspaper, tapping the remaining space on the bench mockingly.

“Come on, sit down,” he taunts, grinning wider when Wonder Girl’s hands curl into fists. “Unless you would prefer to sit on Uncle Slade’s lap? I don’t have any presents on me at the moment, unfortunately, but I’m sure I can scrounge something up for you kiddos if you ask nicely.”

Rose shakes her head, muttering beneath her breath. “Jesus, Slade.”

“We don’t have to do this,” Wonder Girl tells Rose, shooting Slade a look of disgust. “We—”

“Yes we do,” Rose interrupts, gritting her teeth and walking forward. “You don’t know him like I do, Cass. He’ll kill all of those people just to get back at you for… well, you know.”

Just as Rose is about to sit down, Slade stands up, his grin widening. “Hold on, I changed my mind.”

“Changed your…”

“Why don’t we have lunch instead?” He turns and gestures at the fancy high rise restaurant he’d seen fit to secure a reservation in. “Up there, maybe. My treat.”

Rose looks at him, knowing full well what he’s doing. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”

Instead of replying, he presses his earpiece and grins wider. “Alexios, kill one of the—”

“No!” Wonder Girl cries, stepping forward. “Don’t! We’ll do whatever you ask, just don’t… just don’t hurt anyone.”

“Alexios, belay that order.” He let’s go of his earpiece and turns back to face them, his grin turning into a sneer as he mock-bows. “Ladies, if you’ll follow me.”

He turns and walks away, and he hears them cursing beneath their breath—but they follow after him, anyway. Of course they do. What other option do they have.
