I am once again obsessing over The three musketeers, so here i am discussing whether they would be cats or dogs.
Athos: Cat. Laying on the sofa, drinking wine, being so stoic and chill about everything
Porthos: St Bernards dog. Big, loveable, huggable, and always there to help you even at the cost of his life
Aramis: Definitely a cat, like a very arrogant drama queen, who would shove your favourite plant off the shelf with the most angelic big eyes ever
D'Artagnan: Chiuaua. Smol and agressive, like he's literally ready to fight you any time

The Musketeers absolutely live rent-free in my head right now, so if I may present, a moment in praise of Porthos?
I love dearest Porthos, for although the adaptations turn him into a buffoon (excepting the BBC version, where he's absolutely brilliant), he's such a sweet man. He has his moments of being an utter heel (his communications with Coquenard come to mind), but there are moments where his good heart shines through.
I think of his opposition to d'Artagnan's plan to get rid of Bonacieux (a plan that, to be fair, actually came back to bite d'Art later), which Porthos readily identifies as being really unkind. That he makes sure d'Artagnan eats something when he comes to visit him at the inn. Also, way back at the start of the book, Porthos trying to protect Athos from de Tréville's wrath. xD That he defends the queen's honour when Aramis -- of all people! -- makes that infamous remark!
In Twenty Years After, his loneliness is heartbreaking -- all Porthos wants to do is be boisterous and spar with people, but everyone's afraid of this giant of a man. Yet, he speaks in the manner of a gentle older brother when d'Artagnan is worrying about meeting with Athos and Aramis prior to the scene with the argument -- Porthos has his doubts that Athos or Aramis would harm them, but he calmly tells d'Artagnan they'll go and see what happens. He tears up when everyone reconciles, delighted to have his friends reunited and once more in concert with each other.
I think I love him, your honour. Dearest Porthos, the heart of the group. =)
I am very grateful for your on point descriptions of the lovely Musketeers. 💕 Porthos does in fact have the biggest heart!! It‘s so big that he cannot even turn his back on his friends when they go down the wrong path, endangering his life. More Porthos love woohoo!! And it would obviously be nice to see him portrayed as justly as in BBC musketeers more often.

et puis les trois mousquetaires c’est sympa mais quand est-ce qu’on a une adaptation de vingt ans après avec aramis en dilf (littéralement iykyk) et où ils sont tous slutty enough ?

Dumas never said this but I do: Raoul's birthday is on July 7th
Raisins:
It's Saint Raoul’s day, so here you have some inspo for the name, future parent
It fits nicely with October 11th, 1633, La Roche-l’Abeille.

Nevvie, if you don't mind, I just need a moment to wail about Athos being even more of a gentleman and a sweetheart in Twenty Years After.
I'm following along by audiobook, and I'm just past the chapter with the business of the ferry on the Oise, but in the chapter prior to that, the musketeers are in the middle of a falling out of sorts because Athos and Aramis are on the opposing side to d'Artagnan and Porthos, and I just -- d'Artagnan's so disappointed in the pair of them, and saying the most hurtful things in the heat of anger, and Aramis is shaking with rage (the fact that both d'Art and Aramis supposed that they could be walking into a trap and were ready to fight!). And Athos's gentle reproach of d'Artagnan, and it's all so sad, and then --
And then Athos breaks his sword over his knee, and commands Aramis to do likewise. And d'Artagnan not wanting the argument to end with all of them splitting up and Athos telling d'Art and Aramis that they are brothers and always have been, like a dad trying to reconcile his battling sons.
And gosh, Porthos isn't the only one who felt a bit choked up by all of them reconciling, I have to admit. xDDD
I am continually surprised by how lovely Athos is! How kind and warm he is! I've mentioned before, but the screen adaptations never do justice to these qualities in Athos. I really wish they would.
I don‘t mind in the least and I thank you so so dearly for this beautiful message. 💕 Athos really is incredibly soft, with all of them really. He‘s the rock, the one to balance all. The friendship wouldn‘t work without him. He always seems to know what must be done and he‘s always so strong for them all. Which is also the case bc he needs THEM. Maybe even more so than they need him. The moment he loses them, he locks himself in the wine cellar (which was hilarious but still tells you a lot about him really). Thank you for summarizing that heart-wrenching scene from Vingt Ans Après! 💕 And for sharing the Athos feels.
