#WE'RE QUEER
Text
A Comprehensive List of all of the (Queer) books I've read since September 6th (as of September 28th):
Spell Bound by F.T. Lukens
Magic, chaos, a nonbinary protagonist, and a cursed rug that's a bit of a dick. (also I may or may not have bought this one in the first place because the two main characters reminded me of James and Regulus. Even after finishing it, I stand by that assessment lmao)
In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens
Pirates and Princes and Magic Oh My! Oh and magic. Did I mention magic? Because there's also magic.
So This is Ever After by F.T. Lukens
"And they were Soulmates!" (Oh my god they were soulmates...) but with the obligatory "I love him but he doesn't love me the same way" trope.
Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey Mcquistion (I read it twice this month)
I don't think this one needs a description at this point. If you've seen the movie, I recommend the book. Both are fucking amazing, but there are just so many things that the movie couldn't do with the time frame it had to fit into. <3
Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall
Fake dating so hard it becomes real. You know how it goes. ^.^
Simon vs. The Homo sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (I've read this one so many times ngl)
Not sure this needs a description, but this too, is better than the movie. Which I also love so so very much ^.^ <3
Fake Dates and Mooncakes by Sher Lee
Okay, this one made me emotional. I love it so much!
The Extraordinaries by TJ Klune (book 1)
Flash Fire by TJ Klune (book 2)
Heat Wave by TJ Klune (book 3)
SUPERHEROES. FANFICTION. LESBIANS. (the lesbians are side characters but they're always a presence and I love them) AND SO MUCH ADHD THAT IT'S A SUPERPOWER ALL ON ITS OWN. I just finished this series like five minutes ago and I'm so obsessed!!! ToT I love them all so much!!!
(totally has nothing at all to do with the fact that the Dnd campaign I'm a part of is about our modern world but with mutants and magic and heroes and all that jazz~)
I loved every single one of these books so much and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for some really cute lgbtq romances!

Hello to people who notice things:
Our queue may run out in the next little while, and apologies for not being in notes like usual. We are still going through the agonies, but they are becoming a bit less antagonistic. Right now though, we are hesitant about coming onto this side of the tumblrverse.
Point is: we are still here, and we aren't going anywhere. We just need to focus on the whole having a body and a brain in pain aspect of existence right now.
Also, have a Grundy meds reminder.

all the people who voted "I think it's fun but I don't take it seriously" in my astrology poll, please for the love of god explain to me what goes through your mind when you read a paragraph like this. because this is the kind of thing I was thinking of when I made that poll, and I simply cannot fathom how it's amusing or fun at all

All of these are by @mattxiv on Instagram.
Here's to all the shockingly single bachelor uncles or the two very close friends who just happened to be girls and are only living together until one of them finds a man (they lived together for forty two years).

Being a sex-positive personally-sex-repulsed ace is weird cuz like reading about sex? Awesome. Writing about sex? Not much more intolerable than writing about anything else. Sex is good. Sex is normal. Sex is only as important as you let/want it to be. Kinks are natural expressions of sexuality. Sexual purity is a scam. Bodies are nothing to be ashamed of. Sex work is no more exploitative than any other kind of labor. If you touch me I will throw up on you.

If you look closely you can see I accidentally signed this design "Beckidy 24" when I was digitally retouching it (the original says 23 lol), so these are technically stickers from the future x

I love you he/him lesbians
I love you she/her gays
I love you "weird kids" with split dyed black and pink hair and they/it/bun in their bio
I love you boys in skirts and dresses and corsets who are still cis
I love you trans girls who love their masculine features and don't change how masculine or feminine they present
I love you trans boys who still love being feminine and hope you land the best suckerpunch on anyone who says "but isn't that just being a girl"
I love you gays who kiss their boyfriends and girlfriends and partners and joyfriends and all kinds of significant others in the hallways to flaunt that they're not straight
I love you people who wear flags and rainbows to shove your gayness or transness in people's faces
I love you straight guys who love makeup but can't wear it around your friends
I love you people who coin obscure genders and use only neo/xenopronouns(seriously y'all are so cool and I wish i could design flags half as cool as yours)
I love you all aromantic/asexual people
I love you all the people that the lgbtq+ community chooses to outcast to appease the world which would destroy us all
I hate you lgbtq+ community members who choose to attack those who are on your team in an effort to seem "normal"

Two parts which are one part
Being lesbian and being trans have a thing in common, which is two things, which is one thing. Let me explain. (for the purposes of this essay, I'm using "lesbian" as a placeholder for any non-straight sexual orientation of your choice).
First of all there is the matter of identity. When we act, we shape who we are like water shapes rock. Acting the same way over and over carves deep trenches in our personality; it's how you can choose, through repeated effort, to make being kind easy. Doing something once makes it easier to do next time.
This does not apply to every part of you. Sometimes you find that there are parts of you that are simply not shaped by your actions; parts of you that just ARE, no matter how you act or pretend or wish it were different or love that you're not. Sometimes these parts change shape on their own, without your actions having any effect on them, but usually not.
Trans folk and lesbians have this in common; for trans folk, it is the feeling that you are Not The Expected Thing when it comes to your gender, and for lesbians it's that you're Not The Expected Thing when it comes to who you're attracted to.
You can't prove this Unexpected Thing. It's just part of you. But it DOES guide your actions, and that leads to the second thing; the matter of activity.
Transition is an activity in which you can engage by asking people to use different pronouns, dressing differently, changing your name, taking medication, undergoing surgery, and living your life in accordance with the Unexpected Thing inside you. Living a lesbian life is an activity in which you can engage by dating other women, expressing romantic or sexual interest in other women, or openly engaging in building a life together with other women or a specific woman.
There's an action you can take that the Unexpected Thing demands. You don't HAVE to do the action, but it's the one you feel built to take, and it causes an ache inside to not do it.
The actions are, incidentally, where most of the enemies of humanity (who are, sadly, human themselves) draw the line. You can be lesbian or trans on the inside, they say as though they are granting a concession. In your own head you can think what you like. You can even, in the special privacy of the bedroom that our society grants, engage in sex of the type you desire. But the moment, the MOMENT, you act in such a way that another person in society can perceive that you are acting in accordance with the Unexpected Thing, there's a huge, huge, huge "fuck you" waiting for you.
When they say "you can be the Unexpected Thing, because we are good people, but it is BAD to take any actions according to the Unexpected Thing, because you might contaminate vulnerable others to lead your sinful and forbidden life" They really mean "society has no place for those of you who insist on having the Unexpected Thing."
They say hate the sin, love the sinner, but that's only because they expect the sinner to repent.
We're just built different.
Us queers- anyone with an Unexpected Thing inside them about the way they fall in love, the way they date, or the way they fuck- need to stick together, because we're all we have.
