No gender restriction on romance with characters
――Will there be any romance elements with characters in the game?
Furuya:
Each character has story content and as you progress that story your level of closeness with that character grows. Once that level reaches the max, you activate an event called a “partnership.” This takes place after finishing the story and bringing peace to the world, but you will be able to live together after the event.
――Are there restrictions on which characters you can partner with based on your character’s gender?
Furuya:
There are no restrictions.

2023 Favourites
In no particular order. This is content I've read and watched in 2023, not necessarily content released in 2023.
Books
1. Notorious Sorcerer by Davinia Evans: fantasy with some m/m. The protagonist travels to other planes for alchemical ingredients and ends up having to learn greater workings. I love the Byzantine vibe of the worldbuilding.
2. The Daughters of Izdihar by Hadeer Elsbai: fantasy with some f/f. Two women, a waterweaver and an earthweaver, join a women's rights movement. I love the Egyptian-inspired worldbuilding.
3. Reforged by Seth Haddon: m/m fantasy. This King/Paladin novel has a surprising plot. The magic system is very original as well, I especially like the music part of it.
4. The Buried and the Bound by Rochelle Hassan: urban fantasy with some m/m (YA). The hedgewitch protecting the town teams up with a boy cursed to forget his true love and another one trapped as a bondservant.
5. [Spanish] Lazos de Sangre by LR Jeffers: m/m urban fantasy (erotica). This is a series about werewolves and big cat shifters, usually angsty and hot.
6. [French] Meute by Karine Rennberg: urban fantasy with some m/m + another protagonist is aroace and uses sign language. This is a novel about building your own werewolf pack. I think this is my first time encountering 2nd-person narration in French and it works surprisingly well.
7. Cascade by Rachel A. Rosen: science fantasy with mlm and wlw protagonists + no romance. An ecological disaster has freed magic. In Canada, the Party works with a wizard in order to try and save humanity. I love the intricacies of the plot, which skilfully mixes politics, science and magic.
8. Ocean's Echo by Everina Maxwell: m/m science fiction. Telepathy, my favourite trope, done by one of my fave authors! It was even better than I expected.
9. The Deep Sky by Yume Kitasei: science fiction/murder mystery with several non-binary major characters. 80 people from all around the world embark on a one-way interstellar voyage. As they're all required to get pregnant, they're obviously afab, but several are non-binary, with mentions of a trans man.
10. Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick: f/f romance (YA). This is a very romantic novel about two girls dating in secret until one gets amnesia. I enjoy this trope a lot.
TV shows
1. Good Omens: fantasy with queer protagonists + some f/f. I love the book and I love the adaptation. Season 2 is original content, but it's faithful to the spirit of the novel.
2. Shadow and Bone: fantasy with some m/m (YA). This successfully mixes the Shadow and Bone trilogy (that I haven't read) and the Six of Crows duology (that I have read and enjoyed).
3. Warrior Nun: fantasy with some f/f. Nuns literally fight against demons.
4. The Power: superpower fiction with some f/f + a trans woman and an intersex man. Teenage girls start developing an electrical superpower, which makes them safer from men.
5. Nü Er Hong: GL wuxia. This c-drama is a quick watch, with 27 episodes of 2 minutes. I love that these short webdramas always have more or less the same actresses.
6. The Devil Judge: dystopia/thriller with BL vibes. This k-drama has a tight plot and fascinating characters. There's a girl in a wheelchair and the rep is well done.
7. Naughty Babe: BL romance/murder (attempt) mystery. This Thai drama is the sequel to Cutie Pie, except that they switched up the main pairing and the secondary pairing. I think it's possible to watch it on its own.
8. Wedding Plan: BL + GL romcom. This Thai drama has mlm-wlw solidarity, which I hope to see more of in the future. There are also cameos from the BL couples from Love in the Air.
9. Oh! My Assistant: BL romcom. This hilarious k-drama is about a het porn webtoon creator and his assistant. Despite this topic, the drama is not explicit.
10. Welcome to the Lesbian Bar: GL contemporary fiction. This k-drama is a quick watch, with 5 episodes of 6 minutes. In each episode, 2 customers come have a drink and chat with the owner.
Movies
1. Barbie: fantasy that is so gender! This was such a big surprise coming from Hollywood.
2. Nimona: fantasy with a protagonist who is a trans/enby allegory + some m/m (YA). I haven't read the graphic novel, so this was more depressing than I expected (it deals a lot with discrimination), but still an excellent movie.
3. Wingwomen (Voleuses in the original French): action movie with a sapphic protagonist + f/f vibes between the other two. I love heist movies all about women.
4. Kill Bok-soon: action movie with some f/f. This Korean movie has interesting cinematography. Note that it's very violent, though.
5. Red, White & Royal Blue: m/m romcom. I love the book and I love the adaptation.
6. Anything's Possible: m/f romance with a trans female protagonist (YA). This is a very positive movie, about love, art and nature.
7. Fanfic: m/m romance with a trans male protagonist (YA). This Polish movie is sometimes dark, sometimes fun.

only the option with the lowest percentage will be eliminated! propaganda under the cut (and more always welcome!):
ava silva and michael salvius:
They have some amusingly straightbaity scenes where Michael initially appears to be interested in Ava (meeting her in a bar, asking questions about her, pursuing her to get her to do things with him and inviting her to kick ass with him) but almost all of these scenes are explicitly for plot reasons or end up displaying the closeness of Ava and Beatrice (and Beatrice’s jealousy over Ava seemingly being interested in a man) instead. Michael and Ava develop a strong close relationship that feels more sibling-esque by the end of season 2 and also Michael straight up dies at the end of season 2 as well.
neo, mew, and shin:
Before the show aired there was all this speculation over who Neo (a boy) was going to choose, Mew (a girl) or Shin (a boy). A lot of people suspected that Neo and Mew would get together and even though the trailers seemed to imply that there was something between Neo and Shin, that it wouldn't end well for them. Turns out the show went a completely different direction and ended up with polyamory with all three dating each other. This song from the show released before the show came out and there's a lot of comments from people before the show came out trying to figure out who's going to end up together (with some people saying that they hope it'll be poly but are sure that it probably won't be) https://youtu.be/5w-nDbr2fxY And here's the famous kiss scene (there's no subs in this clip but the general vibe is that they're telling Shin (the shorter guy) that even the two of them have feelings for each other, they care about him too) https://youtu.be/Gr4fTrXqL8k https://64.media.tumblr.com/80a1b4441645c65825f221a42d2e88ed/36e07bb804d7de75-59/s540x810/bd1bb49d299d904c8ffe9a26b970caf9567eaae3.pnj
edward elric and winry rockbell:
literally in different dimensions by the end! they still have a lot of the hallmarks of "ohh endgame childhood best friends" or whatever but fma 2003 just said. naah. winry got the shortest end of the stick and i feel so bad for her!!! continuity specific straightbait. in every other universe they get married and have kids but screw you two specifically 🙏
hikaru hitachiin and haruhi fujioka:
Haruhi x Hikaru from ouran high school host club. Yes i know she technically gets together with another boy in the end, but there is something so Queer about this ship in particular. Their whole date episode is just screaming Not Straight. For both of them.
rowena macleod and sam winchester:
Their relationship was clearly going in that direction before the writers killed Rowena.
galo and aina (submitted as lio and galo):
Iirc, the whole time the audience was set up to believe that Galo will get together with a teammate named Aina (i might be completely wrong but i think she showed romantic interest in him). That's what usually happens, anyways. However, studio trigger turned that premise on its head with Galo's budding relationship with Lio. In order to save Lio, Galo kissed him. They kissed.
mako, korra, and asami:
it's that one meme where the guy ignores his girlfriend to check out another girl, only the two girls get to know each other and get together. S1/2 has love triangle drama between who Mako will be with (Korra or Asami). S3 no one is together but Korra and Asami become really close friends. S4 Korra and Asami are together. Mako is single. Like the only example of exes being good friends and Not getting back together, as well as giving the middle finger to heteronormative assumptions when after the love triangle is over, the two girls get together Shipping the two girls in a love triangle together but it actually happens
pat and ink:
Pat has a crush on Ink early on, and it seems possible at first that she may feel the same way. However, it is later revealed that she actually has a crush on his sister and is a lesbian. It's okay though because then Pat realizes he's in love with his childhood rival and they become wlw mlm solidarity! Everyone wins!
buffy driscoll and tj kippen:
in the show there's this thing were if a character looks back to someone while they're leaving it means they have a crush on them. so they had a scene were tj looked back towards were buffy was, but then it was revealed he was gay and in love with buffy's best friend who was standing right next to her in that scene enemies to friends were tj is redeem through the power of gay love towards buffy's best friend
alexa, liana, ian, and jeremy:
the Only barbie animated movie where the girl(s) do not end up with a guy. alexa & liana live together and enact a ton of romantic tropes together, the twin guys do flirt with them but then the girls are separated from them by... a magic rainbow. they do dance together at the end of the movie... before the girls leave to go live together again. wearing dresses that are literally the bi and lesbian pride flags. no joke. cottagecore wlw separated from potential male love interests by literal magic rainbow the gayest barbie movie
good luck everyone! now go vote!

9. Best new fandom discovery of the year
hmmmm... I didn't get heavily into a new fandom this year; my big 3 (WoT, WN, TLT) are all 2020 or earlier obsessions. I enjoyed ALOTO as a show, but... yeah, I don't know
10. Biggest fandom disappointment of the year
no WoT season 2 release date, no release of the WoT season 2 clips that aired at cons, no WoT Origins season 2 release (what happened to that August release date??), very few WoT casting confirmations (we Know whose descriptions half the people you've cast fit, just confirm them already), the obvious prioritization of RoP over WoT and the advertising effort that WoT sure didn't receive, and-
21. Overall favorite fandoms of the year
WoT introduced me to some of my best friends, and Warrior Nun hit such a specific emotional niche for me and has me creating more fervently than I have in a while (and I've been getting to know some neat people through it as well)

Ooops, looks like the media has also noticed Alba didn't promote the show as much as Tonteri Young.
Warrior Nun season 3 cast speculation
We imagine at least some of the original Warrior Nun cast, particularly Kristina Tonteri-Young, would be back for season 3 but there’s no confirmation.
We say Tonteri-Young (Beatrice in the show) because we, unfortunately, do see a potential future where series lead Alba Baptista doesn’t return. The season 2 finale saw her character, Ava, be sent off to another dimension, so if issues with her contract or other obligations arise, there’s wiggle room for season 3 to either bring her back in a more limited capacity than originally planned or focus on someone else.
Of course, we want everyone back, but we feel confident Tonteri-Young, who spent a lot of time promoting the show, would be the sure thing. Supporting characters, like the absent Shotgun Mary could even lead a spin-off or prequel if that’s how things pan out. Below is our wishful thinking.

Note
do you think the release date for warrior nun changed and if so why did it? because netflix said it would come this winter, but november 10 is definitely not winter yet it’s autumn, i’m scared i really want a season 3 (and 4 and 5) but netflix just keeps canceling shows
honestly (and sadly) i think they had no idea of when they were gonna release it at the time so they just said "winter" like "yeah we don't know either, just figure it out" then they probably got a free spot in that period and went with it (it's not even a friday...).
look I'm pessimist and i'm preparing to the worst but i do think there may be a really small chance to get a season 3, but it's veeeery small we really gotta make people watch it :')

October 24 Digital, Blu-ray and DVD Releases
October 24 Digital, Blu-ray and DVD Releases
Welcome into the October 24 Digital HD, Blu-ray and also DVD column of ComingSoon.net! We have added a player in the top highlighting that this week’s releases, since you can see, and you’ll be able to discover more of titles below! You can click each title that is highlighted to purchase through Amazon!
New Movies on Blu-ray/DVD
War to the Planet of the Apes (exclusive clip) This week’s most anticipated release finds that the saga of Caesar (Andy Serkis) coming to a conclusion within this trilogy capper comprising a previous stand between apes and militaristic individuals led by Woody Harrelson’s deranged Colonel. ComingSoon.net also snagged an exclusive clip from the Kinect which highlights the struggles of creating/designing Bad fated, War from the Planet of the Apes‘ fan-favorite personality, featuring the effects wizards at Weta Digital. Take a look below!
Annabelle: Creation Manager David F. Sandberg’s prequel into 2014’s Annabelle — and the fourth episode in The Conjuring world — proved a smash hit, grossing over $300 million over a $15 million dollar funding. This time, we understand the origin of this Annabelle doll that is creepy, dating back to if his wife and a dollmaker shed their kid in a car collision. Years later, the few let girls that are young, under the attention of a nun, to come in their home, and that is if the haunted antics start. Particular features on the Blu-ray include two terror shorts known as “Attic Panic” and “Coffer,” deleted scenes, director commentary and a sneak peek at the upcoming Conjuring spin-off The Nun.
The Emoji Movie This phone-based animated film got Candy CRUSHED by critics but must prove to be a fun offering for your little ones. T.J. Miller is your voice lead, a “meh” emoji who can really show numerous expressions.
An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power Al Gore’s Oscar-winning documentary which helped win him the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize returns for a regrettably much-needed follow up. With the struggle to produce the U.S. citizens and Government comprehend the urgency of climate change, it does not hurt to have a refresher program.
Bushwick Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Drax) leads this activity thriller where a Texas militia takes over a Brooklyn neighborhood. Bautista and Pitch Perfect‘s Brittany Snow need to fight their way out in order to escape to New Jersey.
Dave Produced a Maze One of the most creative and, quite frankly, insanely-imaginative pictures of this year is that this low-budget indie comedy from first-time manager Bill Watterson (no relation to the cartoonist). It follows a frustrated artist named Dave (comedian Nick Thune), that assembles a fancy cardboard labyrinth in his living space which goes magically out of control. The Meera Rohit Kumbhani that is fantastic performs his girlfriend, who ignites a rescue party save Dave and to join the DIY wonderland. The film is full of Michel Gondry-esque set pieces and some bits that are genuinely funny, although it does suffer from slow pacing even though a runtime. If you’re searching for something unusual that you won’t soon forget, we can’t recommend Dave Produced a Maze sufficient!
Reissues
Demon Wind Our pals at vintage reissue tag Vinegar Syndrome have got two terror oddities out this week just in time for Halloween. The first is the 1990 film Demon Wind, wherein a bunch of youngsters travel to an isolated farm to find out exactly what happened to a guy’s grandparents 60 decades before. They end up getting attacked by demons, with a lot of nods to Sam Raimi’s first two Evil Dead movies along the way and a few halfway decent monster makeups.
Blood Beat The next Vinegar Syndrome reissue is that the eccentric 1983 chiller Blood Beat, about a girl possessed by a big, blue-glowing soul of a murderous samurai warrior. This is surreal terror than you may be employed to but it sure is one-of-a-kind.
Web of the Spider Garagehouse is publishing this shocker from 1971 on Blu-ray to the first time. It’s Italian manager Anthony M. Dawson’s color remake of his own black and black 1964 horror film Castle of Blood, and contains Klaus Kinski as Edgar Allan Poe, that makes a wager with a journalist (Anthony Franciosa) that he can’t spend on night in a haunted castle.

only the option with the least votes will be eliminated! everyone else moves on the round 3. propaganda under the cut (and more always welcome!):
ava silva and michael salvius:
This song from the show released before the show came out and there's a lot of comments trying to figure out who's going to end up together (with some people saying that they hope it'll be poly but are sure that it probably won't be) https://youtu.be/5w-nDbr2fxY And here's the famous kiss scene (there's no subs in this clip but the general vibe is that they're telling Shin (the shorter guy) that even the two of them have feelings for each other, they care about him too) https://youtu.be/Gr4fTrXqL8k https://64.media.tumblr.com/80a1b4441645c65825f221a42d2e88ed/36e07bb804d7de75-59/s540x810/bd1bb49d299d904c8ffe9a26b970caf9567eaae3.pnj
edward elric and winry rockbell:
literally in different dimensions by the end! they still have a lot of the hallmarks of "ohh endgame childhood best friends" or whatever but fma 2003 just said. naah. winry got the shortest end of the stick and i feel so bad for her!!! continuity specific straightbait. in every other universe they get married and have kids but screw you two specifically 🙏
hikaru hitachiin and haruhi fujioka:
Everyone wins!
alexa, liana, ian, and jeremy:
the Only barbie animated movie where the girl(s) do not end up with a guy. alexa & liana live together and enact a ton of romantic tropes together, the twin guys do flirt with them but then the girls are separated from them by... a magic rainbow. they do dance together at the end of the movie... before the girls leave to go live together again. wearing dresses that are literally the bi and lesbian pride flags. no joke. cottagecore wlw separated from potential male love interests by literal magic rainbow the gayest barbie movie
good luck everyone! now go vote!
