The absurdity and stupidity of all shitflix cancelations lies in one simple question: How many of those canceled shows have you actually heard of before they got canceled?

- Warrior Nun - never heard of it until the moment I started seeing its fans spamming every shitflix post. And that was its second season. It had two seasons, for fucks sake, and most of us have never heard of it. You wanna know whose fault that is? Let me give you a hint. No, it's not the viewing numbers.

- First Kill (or whatever its name is) - Never heard of it until, once again, I saw people complaining about the cancelation under shitflix posts. Once again, guess whose fault that is.

- Santa Clarita Diet - Never heard of it. Didn't even know it was canceled until it made it to the list of pissed of people counting how many of them they axed. Whose fault is that?

- Inside Job - Yeah, never heard of it until it got canceled. Also, canceled after they renewed it. Shitflix: guess we changed our minds.

- Archive 81 - Heard of it when the cancelation was announced.

- The OA - Remember just hearing about it through the fog, even though it came out years ago.

- Sense 8 - know about it only thanks to fans' videos and fanart. I don't remember shitflix ever mentioning it.

- Lockwood & Co - I know about it thanks to fans spamming posts asking for renewal news.

And the list goes on with, I assume, shows I have never heard of.

I've never seen any of these shows, but my open wound is 1899 that I believe got treated the dirtiest of them all.

I have heard of it two years before the premiere, thanks to a 50 seconds long teaser that got me patiently waiting for years because it was my cup of tea. It came from the people who proved themselves before by creating a critically acclaimed show that you can find on a top 10 list of greatest shows of all time. Those people have spent years developing a new filming technique for shitflix. What a way to say thank you.

8 out of 10 people around me have seen 1899. Those people haven't even seen GoT or LotR for fucks sake, the most famous show and movie ever, but they have seen 1899. But not because shitflix promoted it, but because people did.

There was zero promotion, zero cast interviews, zero mentions after the release. It was still watched and talked about by so many people. It has more viewing hours than their hit shows running for 3+ seasons put together. It's a show you can't just binge and forget, you have to actually turn your fucking brain on. It was released in the most busy time of the year, during the damn World Cup and winter holidays. It was still number one for weeks. It was given less than 30 days. They decided to cancel it before it even premiered. They deleted the trailer with 10+ million views from YT.

The same goes with other shows. I have seen zero cast interviews, zero promotion or mentions by their own platform and they still have loyal fan bases that didn't stop talking about them.

But then you have dogshit shows like the Night agent that is getting hyped by shtflix every single fucking day. Fake numbers, pumped up to get people to watch a generic, a hundred times seen before, piece of crap. It got more hype than fucking GoT, and yet I know zero people who have actually watched it. Yep, there is no one I know, in real life or online, that has actually watched this show. So you figure it out.

People who have watched the shows I've mentioned probably have the statistics for them, and have probably seen the viewing hours being blamed for it, which was bullshit.

The latest nail in the coffin was Lockwood & Co. They kept fans waiting for months, and then they announced the cancelation during Eurovision so that fans wouldn't be able to go viral about it because everyone talked about fucking Eurovision.

Shitflix has canceled 26 sci-fi/fantasy shows in the last 3 years. 26! Do you all remember when we couldn't even name 26 shows of all genres put together, let alone watch them?

What all these shows had in common is that they were original and more or less unique and creative, not something you can find at least 6 copies of in either streaming or network TV.

It's like they created all these shows just so they can cancel them, because they are doing their best to actually burn every trace they ever existed.

Shitflix is killing creativity in every form, but in the end, that will be their undoing.

Ok, so after finishing my 6th rewatch of Warrior Nun season 2, and as I’m loading it up for rewatch rewatch #7, I gotta put some of my thoughts down:

1. I haven’t seen this too much, but the reveal of Miguel being Jillian‘s son Michael was so so so obvious from the first time we saw the first trailer. Casting is top tier for the show because Jack Mullarkey looks exactly like the child actor from season 1! I literally thought that was the child actor grown-up! Bravo!

2. I have not seen enough love for Lillith this season! Yes, I know she teams up with Adriel, but she’s also just so f*cking badass that I can’t help but love her. I mean the fight scene in episode one blew my mind the first time I watched it, and every time I watch it, it just gets better! Never thought I’d be attracted to a bat demon lady, but here we are.

3. I was sad Toya wasn’t able to be in this season and the lost of Shotgun Mary was definitely felt. In season one, she was just such a solid comedic character with a background that i wish we had gotten more of. I think the show runners including the part with Vincent tricking Lilith into thinking Mary was still alive made it more confusing for me, and I wish they’d kind of just said that she was dead from the beginning!

4. Mother Superior and Camila pairing off was a highlight of the season to me. I like that we got to see more of her motherly tendencies with the girls this season as opposed to last season were she kinda sucked until the last episode.

5. I saved it for last, but 1000% not least… AVATRICE!! Holy shit! I have never felt so fed in my life, watching this romance play out on screen! The subtle looks, casual touches, unspoken words, and actual intimacy developed between Ava and Beatrice this season was so beautiful. I have cried every time watching the “Be Free.”, “I love you” scene! Bravo!

Overall, let me just say we better get a season 3! Netflix…you’ve canceled all of my favorite shows recently with any kind of W/W content and it needs to stop!!

They have some amusingly straightbaity scenes where Michael initially appears to be interested in Ava (meeting her in a bar, asking questions about her, pursuing her to get her to do things with him and inviting her to kick ass with him) but almost all of these scenes are explicitly for plot reasons or end up displaying the closeness of Ava and Beatrice (and Beatrice’s jealousy over Ava seemingly being interested in a man) instead. Michael and Ava develop a strong close relationship that feels more sibling-esque by the end of season 2 and also Michael straight up dies at the end of season 2 as well.

neo, mew, and shin:

Before the show aired there was all this speculation over who Neo (a boy) was going to choose, Mew (a girl) or Shin (a boy). A lot of people suspected that Neo and Mew would get together and even though the trailers seemed to imply that there was something between Neo and Shin, that it wouldn't end well for them. Turns out the show went a completely different direction and ended up with polyamory with all three dating each other. Their relationship was clearly going in that direction before the writers killed Rowena.

Iirc, the whole time the audience was set up to believe that Galo will get together with a teammate named Aina (i might be completely wrong but i think she showed romantic interest in him). That's what usually happens, anyways. However, studio trigger turned that premise on its head with Galo's budding relationship with Lio. In order to save Lio, Galo kissed him. They kissed.

mako, korra, and asami:

it's that one meme where the guy ignores his girlfriend to check out another girl, only the two girls get to know each other and get together. S1/2 has love triangle drama between who Mako will be with (Korra or Asami). S3 no one is together but Korra and Asami become really close friends. S4 Korra and Asami are together. Mako is single. Like the only example of exes being good friends and Not getting back together, as well as giving the middle finger to heteronormative assumptions when after the love triangle is over, the two girls get together Shipping the two girls in a love triangle together but it actually happens

pat and ink:

Pat has a crush on Ink early on, and it seems possible at first that she may feel the same way. However, it is later revealed that she actually has a crush on his sister and is a lesbian. It's okay though because then Pat realizes he's in love with his childhood rival and they become wlw mlm solidarity! Everyone wins!

buffy driscoll and tj kippen:

in the show there's this thing were if a character looks back to someone while they're leaving it means they have a crush on them. so they had a scene were tj looked back towards were buffy was, but then it was revealed he was gay and in love with buffy's best friend who was standing right next to her in that scene enemies to friends were tj is redeem through the power of gay love towards buffy's best friend

alexa, liana, ian, and jeremy:

why is everyone so negative about warrior nun getting a s3? Was Netflix more lenient in renewing shows in 2020 as opposed to now? S1 was renewed within one month of its release and i didn’t see a single piece of advertisement besides a couple gifs on here. i know netflix has a habit of cancelling wlw shows but it’s not like they haven’t given other wlw shows more than 2 seasons. Yes they haven’t treated WN as well as it deserves but we’re making noise! The s2 trailer already has 1M views in 3 days and the teaser before that has 1.5M, Netflix’s WN tweets are getting 10k+ likes and it’s been trending on twitter. Maybe I’m foolishly optimistic but i know we can get that renewal as long as we watch it on Netflix on Nov 10 (thru netflix not 3rd party sites) and continue sharing it on social media

30 Days of Picard Postivity

With just over 30 days to go, the premiere of Star Trek: Picard season 2 (3rd March in the US, 4th March internationally) is fast approaching, and I for one cannot wait to get back into the world I fell in love with two years ago. Thirty days is quite some time, however, and even though new trailers and promo pics seem to be dropping daily, I felt like we could use something to tide us over until March.

After the long hiatus, I think this is the perfect time to revisit all the things we enjoyed about season 1. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has forgotten a lot of the details of those episodes, and who would love to see some of the wonderful characters, locations, and stories back on my dash. So, without further ado:

As you can see, this calendar has two prompts for (almost) every day between now and the premiere of season 2. Each day will have one character prompt and one other prompt (Places, Groups, Technology, Production aspects, etc.). Pick one or both, and gush about them to your heart’s content.

Now, I know that we are all incredibly busy - this isn’t Early Pandemic Times after all - so I don’t intend this to be a call to Create All Of The Things. If a prompt inspires you, you could, for example, simply post a short quote or a screenshot that fits the theme. Maybe you have a gif lying around somewhere, or you remember this fanfic you read (or wrote) way back in the day and want to share a link. Perhaps there's some fitting art or meta you posted in the last two years that you think deserves a reblog.

The idea is to engage with this list in any way that gives you joy, however small or elaborate it may be.

And if you are a day (or a week) late or early with your posts, I don’t think anyone will mind. Between time-zone weirdness and tumblr shenanigans, things will get a little jumbled anyway. In the end, we will all have a little more Star Trek: Picard on our dashes, and that‘s what counts ;)

Can we talk about how important this tweet is for a second?

I'm gonna say this again once a Trailer for Season 2 drops but this person is absolutely right and it reminded me of something @ground-zoro posted a while ago:

Netflix does NOT put enough work into promoting Warrior Nun, it is up to us fans, I think someone on the production team even mentioned that they only got renewed because Netflix saw how dedicated the fans of this series are. Things we can do are listed down below, feel free to add :)

The plot of Warrior Nun develops relatively slowly compared to other shows on streaming platforms. Normally we have a clear "team" and clear team dynamics by episode 3, and the couple gets together either in the middle or at the end of the season and the end goal of the protagonists is also clear very early on. Because streaming platforms want audiences to binge watch, there isn't really time for good slowburns or for the 'real conflict' / 'real enemy' to be revealed later on.

This slow pace was one of the things reviewers didn't like on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDB and maybe WN also lost some viewers who didn't complete the first season because only at the end of S1 we have all those things I listed above.

Warrior Nun has potential and I think it needs and deserves at least 3 or 4 seasons to tell its story, our job is to make sure that happens and these are some things we can do:

▪︎ once a trailer comes out we need to promote it online as well as offline so that even people who only watched Season 1 casually remember the show and come back for Season 2 (ergo WN doesn't lose viewers)

▪︎ once the episodes are out we should watch them within 28 days, complete the season and if possible, watch more than 2 episodes directly after another!!!(This is something that the Netflix algorithm really likes)

▪︎Rewatches also help

▪︎ If you have access to other Netflix accounts, watch WN on them and give a positive rating. You can mute your laptop/TV while doing homework, workouts, work, etc.

▪︎ make TikToks, Twitter and YouTube edits and memes of Ava and Beatrice (add more moments from S2)!! THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT STEP! We all know that queer people watch stuff with queer couples in it and often you find out that there's a wlw couple on social media. The wilds on Amazon Prime, for example, partly became so popular because people already knew that they could expect a lesbian couple (Shelby and Toni) in it because they saw them on TikTok.

▪︎ don't only promote Warrior Nun in English but also in your native language/ the languages that you speak. One of this show's biggest strenghts is that it was able to get many views from non-english speaking countries and we should take that into consideration.

▪︎ spam the RenewWarriorNun Hashtag on Twitter

▪︎ leave a good rating on Netflix

▪︎ leave good reviews and ratings on IMBD/Rotten Tomatoes etc. and point out the strenghts of the show and that S2 (hopefully) ties the events of S1 together.

Strenghts of the show are: queer representation in the form of Avatrice as well as Mary, Shannon and Chanel, the scenery, cast diversity, multiple languages are spoken, fight scenes/ action, an overall feminist theme, the theme of dealing with catholic trauma, A BADASS SISTER BEATRICE DAMN, the show doesn't shy away from using swear words, the humour, etc.

▪︎ when you see ppl looking for show reccomendations (with queer representation) on TikTok, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. recommend Warrior Nun in the comments, bring it up so that people will see the title of the show more often.

▪︎ when recommending the show, remind ppl that the plot of the show/ the romance isn't supposed to feel rushed and that by watching the show they contribute to a renewal.

Because productions in Europe, especially Spain, are often cheaper than productions in the US I hope that Netflix won't be too hesitant to renew Warrior Nun for a third season, especially after Warrior Nun was in the Netflix Top Ten (I think) in many countries after it came out so it is our goal that S2 can reach that status as well.

They have some amusingly straightbaity scenes where Michael initially appears to be interested in Ava (meeting her in a bar, asking questions about her, pursuing her to get her to do things with him and inviting her to kick ass with him) but almost all of these scenes are explicitly for plot reasons or end up displaying the closeness of Ava and Beatrice (and Beatrice’s jealousy over Ava seemingly being interested in a man) instead. Michael and Ava develop a strong close relationship that feels more sibling-esque by the end of season 2 and also Michael straight up dies at the end of season 2 as well.

neo, mew, and shin:

Before the show aired there was all this speculation over who Neo (a boy) was going to choose, Mew (a girl) or Shin (a boy). A lot of people suspected that Neo and Mew would get together and even though the trailers seemed to imply that there was something between Neo and Shin, that it wouldn't end well for them. Turns out the show went a completely different direction and ended up with polyamory with all three dating each other. That's what usually happens, anyways. However, studio trigger turned that premise on its head with Galo's budding relationship with Lio. In order to save Lio, Galo kissed him. They kissed.

mako, korra, and asami:

it's that one meme where the guy ignores his girlfriend to check out another girl, only the two girls get to know each other and get together. S1/2 has love triangle drama between who Mako will be with (Korra or Asami). S3 no one is together but Korra and Asami become really close friends. S4 Korra and Asami are together. Mako is single. Like the only example of exes being good friends and Not getting back together, as well as giving the middle finger to heteronormative assumptions when after the love triangle is over, the two girls get together Shipping the two girls in a love triangle together but it actually happens

Pat has a crush on Ink early on, and it seems possible at first that she may feel the same way. However, it is later revealed that she actually has a crush on his sister and is a lesbian. Kipo and the Ago of Wonderbeasts (Season 1 / 2 / 3) - Great character work and I especially love how they worked music into the narrative.

One Day at a Time (Season 1 / 2 / 3 / 4)

She-Ra (Season 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5) - I don't think I need to tell Tumblr why I love that one.

Tatort Saarbrücken (Episode 1 / 2 / 3) - Tumblr made me watch it, I take no responsibility this obsession.

The Good Place (Season 1 / 2 / 3 / 4) - This is my comfort show and I will probably watch it at least one more time this year.

So yeah, there is a lot I want to watch so I will absolutely not be able to watch all of that because I will get distracted by other shows as well. (PULLS UP CHAIR) okay, so about Warrior Nun. Coming from a ex-church-goer who just recently watched it!! First: the gay is to the latter of the season, with a relationship hinted between the main and another girl. Nothing suuuuper explicit yet. There's also a very poignant scene involving the story of a Jewish lesbian during the Holocaust (that has to do with the main and her possible love interest) [P1/2]

Religious themes: YES. It starts out pretty pro-church-y, which made me side-eye so hard. But as the story goes on, it gets kinda more complex. Some people in the church are allies, others are not. Season finale twist that It Is Not As You Thought. I don't think it will be such a visceral, on-point exploration like SPOP, but by the end I was super invested and not, you know. Rolling my eyes with annoyance, which is how I began. [P2/2]

OH, ALSO. The first half, 2/3-ish of the season is pretty character-focused, with slooooowww action, and towards the end the plot kicks back in, like, "HERE WE GO, BITCHES, IT'S TIME FOR LORE." I was very invested cause the characters won me over, but the plot does take a wee bit to really kick in.

Sure, and believe me it’s a FUN RIDE. I’ve just finished all 10 episodes and believe you me I was thoroughly entertained.

It’s a story about the Order of the Cruciform Sword, which is a holy order of warrior nuns whose sacred mission is to fight demons. And their holy ‘weapon’ is a halo that gets embedded in the back of the sister who then becomes the Warrior Nun (capital letters and all).

It actually kinda reminds me of the Slayer mythos a bit. Except that for the most part the nuns actually get to consent.

EXCEPT then of course stuff hits the fan and instead of being placed in the next nun as they were supposed to they get interrupted and place it inside Ava Silva. A 19 year old recently deceased orphan. This was NOT supposed to happen.

Her being brought back from the dead because of it has ALSO never before happened. And so cue the entrance of Ava, the girl who did not choose this, does not want it, does not understand it and would really rather enjoy the life she suddenly has.

And I know this can be a really annoying trope, I get it. The inexperienced Chosen One who fucks everything up, keeps running away and discarding her duty (that she didn’t choose) when there’s a whole bunch of women who would probably have done a better job? This trope can be a real drag BUT here it’s saved by a few facts: 1)She’s not yet another dude; 2) Until she died and woke up with superpowers she’d spent the majority of her life almost entirely paralyzed from the neck down and getting emotionally and mentally abused by her ‘caretaker’ at the orphanage so who can really blame the girl for wanting to live a little?; and 3) She’s utterly charming and funny (in a ‘makes endless puns and then laughs at them herself’ sort of way).

Plus at the end of the day, when the cards are on the table and all the shit hits the fan she always comes through.

And then there’s the Sister Nuns.

Lets start with Shotgun Mary.

I don’t want to tell her story because I feel like that would take away from the way she tells it herself. Just know she’s a complete badass but one who we also get to really know beyond just the way she can beat people up and use shotguns (though the scenes where she beats people up and uses shotguns are REALLY COOL). Also she and the previous halo bearer were totally girlfriends (like... they don’t really come out and SAY it but the subtext is so heavy it might as well be text, and yes, I guess it’s got that annoying dead girlfriend trope and if she was the only representation we got I’d call foul but it’s not).

Then there’s Sister Beatrice.

Spoilers. She’s a lesbian. I just wanted to put that out there. I’ll let the rest be said by her in the show itself but I wanted to make that clear. She’s absolutely a 100% queer. Canonically. Also YET ANOTHER badass, actually near the beginning of the season she gets my absolute favorite fight scene, you know that trope where someone takes down a whole roomful of dudes? YEAAAAAAAAAH GIRL!!!

After that we’ve got Sister Lilith.

She’s the nun that was SUPPOSED to take on the halo next and she might have some issues about it BUT if you’re expecting to end up hating her you’ve got another thing coming. She starts out cold but believe me you’ll end up wanting to wrap her in warm blankets and keep her safe from the world forever. I’m almost getting tired of saying it but... ALSO a complete badassssssss. Let’s just say if Mary is shoot them in the face!badass, and Beatrice is martial arts!badass, then Lilith is TERMINATOR!badass.

And finally there’s Sister Camila.

She’s the baby. The newbie. Well if Ava wasn’t there then Camila would be the newbie anyway. She’s awkward as hell but the SWEETEST person there. We all love and adore her. But give her a submachine gun and grin at the chaos.

Those five are who I’d say are the core of the show (or at least will be, it takes a while to get there but the road is fun and once we get there it was SO worth the wait).

Now you might be tricked into thinking it’s just a show about the demon of the week but actually it’s a very serialized show with an overarching plot that ends up dealing with a lot more (including institutional patriarchy that might have been taking advantage of these girls for centuries, and the morality of using a line of Warrior Nuns that keep dying in their fight against darkness).

And it’s just a very fun show that kept me entertained all the way through. And just to cover my bases, here’s the trailer:
