Sunday, Sunday, Sunday ...
What a strange week!?! Stuck in the house for what felt like two or three weeks due to snow and ice. So stuck that I had to go out of the back door and walk round to the front so I could give that door a good kick and get it to open. ;-D
The router decided on intermittent service so engineers coming out this week.
Gave up on getting the washing off the line as it had turned into a frozen sculpture.
Finally managed to get out of the house yesterday and went back into the shiny metropolis for much needed supplies. Not as many people as I figured would be milling around ... but those that were, were in the mood for a chat.
Um ...
I'm crap at small talk at the best of times ... so shut me in for a bit and then let me out and my one and only marble has no intention whatsoever of co-operating.
One lady reversed into my trolley whilst gazing into the dairy section ... she apologised and said she'd been lost in a world of cheese. She waited for a response ... I'd found whst she said funny and my mind went off at several tangents ... but in the end all she got was a nod. After all, she couldn't see my smile as I had a mask on (December/January being the months for trying to avoid all manner of germ spreading).
By the time I reached the till, all I wanted to do was pay and get the hell out of there. The queues said otherwise. And, of course, as I stood and waited, another lady told me all about her cats and building a whack-a-mole toy for them. More nodding from me plus I think I managed an 'Um' and an 'Oh yes'.
A big 'Phew!' Once I reached the car and thoughts of all the responses I could have given. If only I could say to the people that insist on talking to me 'oh yes' and 'really' and 'how interesting' and 'how about you give me 3 days to organise the jangle of thoughts in my head and then I could meet you back here next week and respond in a clear and concise manner' ;-D
Ach well ... time for breakfast ...

GRINDING THE LENS
I am pulling myself together.
Don't want to go on a trip.
I have painted the living room white
and taken out most of my things.
The room has never been so empty.
Just now a banging thunder
and suddenly falling rain.
I leave the typewriter and run
outside in my nightgown and take
the cotton blanket off the line.
It is summer and I am in the middle
of my life. Alone and happy.
