Night Vale Obscure Ship Tournament
Welcome one and all to the Night Vale Obscure Ship Tournament! This is to determine once and for all what is the best obscure Night Vale ship. This tournament brings together canon pairings from the supplementary media (like the books), fandom crack ships, rarepairs, and could-have-beens. Some of these ships have large fanbases on Tumblr, but are more lacking on other platforms. Some of these ships will genuinely make you question who in the world is interested in that. And all of these ships are up for your vote, starting tomorrow!
Official Bracket:
On the left we have:
Nilanjanet (Nilanjana Sikdar/Janet Lubelle) vs Kasvin (Kasper Rhodes/Kevin)
Cecearl (Cecil Gerswhin Palmer/Earl Harland) vs Charlos (Carlos Robles/Charles)
Josh/Monty vs Danielauren (Daniel/Lauren Mallard)
Kascil (Kasper Rhodes/Cecil Gerswhin Palmer) vs Blake/Larry Leroy
On the right we have:
Mallardinal (Lauren Mallard/Dana Cardinal) vs Pawn Sherrif (Jackie Fierro/Sherrif Sam)
Toxic Science (Blake Jones/Janet Lubelle) vs Pizzacat (Silas the Thief/Big Rico Goldblum)
Radio Scientology (Cecil Palmer/Kevin/Carlos Robles/Charles) vs Women's Wrong's (The Faceless Old Woman/The Woman From Italy)
Laurbelle (Lauren Mallard/Janet Lubelle) vs Kasplake (Kasper Rhodes/Blake Jones)
Vote correctly, or never see your loved ones again.

Whenever I see someone use the word "neat" I will automatically make the assumption you are a wtnv fan. People who use the word "neat" who are not fans of wtnv should Listen to wtnv immediately.

conversation i had recently:
sister: oh, mum, you know that [nastya] has been listening to a podcast about conspiracy theories? (referring to me listening to night vale)
mum: (teasing) oh, you'll have to tell your uncle about that one
me: oh, god, no, it's got gay people in it.
mum: oh, too scary for him. what about that other one you listen to? (referring to the magnus archives/protocol)
me: no, that one's got gay people, too.
sister: you'll drive him mad with that, you know what he's like.
mum: perfect, tell him all about it.

Yeah, Kevin's the mirror that shows everything Cecil fears and never wants to be, but do you think Kevin ever looks at Cecil and is reminded of his past imperfect self that Strex killed? Cecil has his silhouette but is drawn in the darkness that the Smiling God finds abhorrent; Kevin is Cecil's broken reflection but Cecil is Kevin's shadow.

"Listeners, today begins Night Vale Poetry Week - one of our most sacred town traditions. As you know, every citizen is required to write hundreds of poems. Nonstop poems. During this time, the City Council lifts their bans on writing utensils, thesauruses, and public descriptions of the moon. And they mandate that everybody use their municipally-granted free will to join in on the fun."
- WTNV episode 20, Poetry Week
Q: What's going on?
A: In celebration of hit podcast Welcome to Night Vale and the ways it has altered our brain chemistry over the years, I am organising a poetry week, just like in episode 20!
Q: Huh? So if we don't write a poem, you'll send us for another HR retraining session in the Dark Box?
A: Well, probably not, but are you willing to take that risk?
You can write as many or as few poems as you like.
They can be Night Vale related or not.
They can be short or long.
You can write them fast or slow.
The most important thing is to have fun, be yourself, and avert your hollow gaze from any hooded figures you may encounter.
Q: I mean... I'm not much of a poet, but the part about averting your hollow gaze sounds fun. What are the challenge prompts?
A: Here are the poem prompts for each day of the challenge:
Day 1 (April 28): Mirrors
Day 2 (April 29): Deer
Day 3 (April 30): Teeth
Day 4 (May 1): Spiders
Day 5 (May 2): Clouds
Day 6 (May 3): Radio
Day 7 (May 4): Owls
Tag your poems with #wtnv poetry week if you want me to see and reblog them.
