Citizens of the European Union live in an internet built and ruled by foreign powers. Most people in the EU use an American search engine, shop on an American ecommerce site, thumb American phones, and scroll through American social media feeds.
That fact has triggered increasing alarm in the corridors of Brussels, as the EU tries to understand how exactly those companies warp the economy around them. Five years ago, Shoshana Zuboff’s book The Age of Surveillance Capitalism neatly articulated much of lawmakers’ critique of the tech giants, just as they were preparing to enforce the flagship GDPR privacy law. Now as the EU enacts another historic piece of tech regulation, the Digital Markets Act, which companies must comply with starting tomorrow, March 7, a different critic du jour sums up the new mood in Brussels.
In his 2023 book, Technofeudalism, Yanis Varoufakis argues the big US tech platforms have brought feudalism back to Europe. The former Greek finance minister sees little difference between the medieval serf toiling on land he does not own and the Amazon seller who must subject themselves to the company’s strict rules while giving the company a cut of each sale.
The idea that a handful of big tech companies have subjugated internet users into digital empires has permeated through Europe. Technofeudalism shares bookshelf space with Cloud Empires and Digital Empires, which make broadly similar arguments. For years, Europe’s wanna-be Big Tech rivals, like Sweden’s Spotify or Switzerland’s ProtonMail, have claimed that companies like Google, Meta, and Apple unfairly limit their ability to reach potential users, through tactics like preinstalling Gmail on new Android phones or Apple’s strict rules for the App Store. “It’s not a problem to be a monopoly,” says Sandra Wachter, professor of technology and regulation at Oxford University’s Internet Institute. “It becomes a problem if you're starting to exclude other people from the market.”
Crowbarred Open
In answer to that problem, Brussels’ politicos agreed to the Digital Markets Act in 2022. It is designed to rein in the largest tech companies—almost all of them from the US—that act as gatekeepers between consumers and other businesses. A sibling regulation, the Digital Services Act, which focuses more on freedom of expression, went into effect last month. Wachter says they follow a long tradition of laws trying to protect the public and the economy from state power, wielded either by the government or the monarch. “With the rise of the private sector and globalization, power has just shifted,” she adds. Tech platforms rule over digital lives like kings. The DMA is part of the attempt to keep up.
The rules change tomorrow for platforms deemed “gatekeepers” by the DMA—so far including Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, and TikTok parent Bytedance. The law essentially crowbars open what the EU calls the gatekeepers’ “core services.” In the past regulators have proposed containing corporate giants by taking them to pieces. EU lawmakers have adopted the motto “Don’t break up big tech companies, break them open.”
In theory, that means big changes for EU residents’ digital lives. Users of iPhones should soon be able to download apps from places other than Apple’s app store; Microsoft Windows will no longer have Microsoft-owned Bing as its default search tool; Meta-owned WhatsApp users will be able to communicate with people on rival messaging apps; and Google and Amazon will have to tweak their search results to create more room for rivals. There will also be limits on how users’ data can be shared between one company’s different services. Fines for noncompliance can reach up to 20 percent of global sales revenue. The law also gives the EU recourse to the nuclear option of forcing tech companies to sell off parts of their business.
Homegrown Challengers
Most tech giants have expressed uncharacteristic alarm about the changes required of them this week. Google has spoken of “difficult trade-offs,” which may mean its search results send more traffic to hotel or flight aggregators. Apple has claimed that the DMA jeopardizes its devices’ security. Apple, Meta and TikTok have all filed legal challenges against the EU, saying new rules unfairly target their services. The argument in favor of the status quo is that competition is actually thriving—just look at TikTok, a technology company launched in the past decade, now designated as one of the so-called gatekeepers.
But TikTok is an exception. The DMA wants to make it normal for new household names to emerge in the tech industry; to “drive innovation so that smaller businesses can really make it,” as the EU’s competition chief Margrethe Vestager explained to WIRED, back in 2022. Many hope some of the new businesses that “make it” will be European. For almost every big tech service, there is a smaller homegrown equivalent: from German search engine Ecosia to French messaging app Olvid and Polish Amazon alternative Allegro. These are the companies many hope will benefit from the DMA, even if there is widespread skepticism about how effective the new rules will be at forcing the tech giants to change.
Today, US-based Epic Games said Apple had terminated its European developer account, soon after Epic announced it would take advantage of the DMA to open a new games store for iOS. Apple told WIRED that Epic was untrustworthy and Apple has the right to terminate the accounts of any of Epic's wholly owned subsidiaries following a 2021 court judgment. “Apple chose to exercise that right,” a statement provided by company spokesperson Rob Saunders said.
App Stores will be an early area of focus for DMA enforcement, Vestager said this week. But Europeans can’t expect the internet to transform overnight. In its early days, the new law’s effects will be more about the power struggles behind the curtain of the world’s biggest companies; not about making netizens’ lives easier. In fact, their online experience is likely to get messier at first. There will probably be even more website pop-ups. “This dominant position that these companies have is partially because we have been so addicted to convenience,” says Anu Bradford, a professor at Columbia Law School and author of Digital Empires: The Global Battle to Regulate Technology. The new rules will mean users have to reengage with what they want their online lives to look like, she adds. Defaults set by US corporations will no longer be chosen for them.
Instead the DMA’s objective is to remind Europeans what they traded in exchange for that convenience in the first place. The DMA is about power, not necessarily convenience. Whether Europeans will be able to remember that as their online worlds are cracked open remains to be seen.

“From the river to the sea…”
Let’s talk about such a scenario in which Israel is erased.
7:00 a.m.: You wake up and try to unlock your iPhone to read email, but it won’t unlock.
Why? Because Face ID is Israeli tech. It was invented by PrimeSense, and acquired by Apple.
7:30 a.m.: Before heading to work, you go into your garden to make sure your grass is being watered.
Nope, can’t use drip irrigation. That’s an Israeli invention.
8:00 a.m.: You get into your car and try to turn on Waze so you can know where there is traffic.
It won’t open because Waze is Israeli.
8:30 a.m.: On the way to work, you almost lose control of your car because it didn’t notify you that you were swerving out of your lane.
That’s because Mobileye is based in Jerusalem.
9:00 a.m.: “Fine,” you say to yourself, “I don’t need Waze or Mobileye anyway. Soon my car will be autonomous.”
Nope. Innoviz is Israeli.
9:30 a.m.: You get to work and get ready to have your first meeting on Microsoft Teams. It won’t work.
All the AI on Teams? Built in Herzliya.
10:00 a.m.: You try to use your USB thumb drive on your computer. No go.
Thumb drives (a.k.a. flash drives or memory sticks) were invented by Dov Moran at Msystems, and acquired by SanDisk.
11:00 a.m.: You need to access some classified information but it’s behind a firewall. No way around it.
Firewall technology? Invented in Israel.
12:00 p.m.: You look out your office window and the sky is so beautiful, you want to take a photo.
Nope. Smartphone dual lens technology was invented by Israeli company Corephotonics.
1:00 p.m.: You have a lot of work to do. You fire up your PC but it won’t boot up.
Is it running on an Intel processor? Oh, yeah, that was designed in Israel.
2:00 p.m.: You’re getting really frustrated. Nothing is working! So you turn to Google, but even that won’t work.
Google builds many of its products in Tel Aviv.
3:00 p.m.: You decide to FaceTime your wife to vent your frustrations. Why won’t it work?!
Because voice over IP was invented in Israel.
3:30 p.m.: You’re really losing patience, so you go to your favorite instant messenger program to speak to a friend.
Nope, instant messaging was invented in Israel.
4:00 p.m.: You give up and decide to focus on work exclusively – you need to build a website.
Sorry, Wix is Israeli. You can’t use it.
5:00 p.m.: You get a call from your doctor. He wants you to come in because he saw something troubling in your last check-up. He wants to use the PillCam.
You have to inform him that’s a no-go. That’s Israeli tech.
6:00 p.m.: Since your car is unreliable, you decide to take public transportation. But your Moovit app won’t load for some reason.
It’s Israeli.
6:30 p.m.: You decide to do some shopping for a new car because it’s time to go electric.
Sorry. Better Place CEO Shai Agassi pioneered the infrastructure for electric cars in 2012.
7:00 p.m.: You get a call with bad news – your relative was recently diagnosed with cancer. He needs your help finding the best treatment.
Unfortunately, you can’t help him because many of the leading cancer treatments were developed in Israel by companies like Novocure and Vascular Biogenics.
8:00 p.m.: You’ve had a hard day and just want to chill out in front of your social media feeds. But none of your feeds will load.
Meta, parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, has many offices in Israel.
9:00 p.m.: Time for a late dinner. You want to prepare alternative meats or dairy products.
Your supermarket doesn’t sell them, however, because Redefine Meat and Remilk are Israeli startups.
10:30 p.m.: You decide to read your book, but you can’t find your glasses anywhere.
That’s because you bought them on GlassesUSA, an Israeli company.
11:00 p.m.: Your last resort: Watch some TV. Wait – your Samsung TV won’t turn on!
Samsung has many offices in Israel, including Samsung Next, a fund that invests in tech.
You go to sleep and hope tomorrow will be a better day.
Here, try this new rhyme instead: “From the river to the sea, if Israel is gone, what will be with me?!”

#OB WhatsApp APK v56 Download Latest Version 2024 Free | OB WhatsApp
Download OBWhatsApp latest version for Android. It is expected to be available soon for iOS as well. OBWhatsApp is a modified version of the official WhatsApp, offering different ways to communicate with friends. You will not face any defects while using it.
Of course, there are differences between OBWhatsApp and the regular WhatsApp APK, but all the differences are positive and in favor of OBWhatsApp. This application was developed in response to the requirements of users who are looking for freedom and privacy beyond what WhatsApp offers. As a result, OBWhatsApp gained a huge following when it was officially released. It quickly became as popular as the original WhatsApp app, surpassing 50 million downloads since its initial launch. There are many versions of OBWhatsApp, each with its own unique features and benefits. You'll have access to over 200 new features with this software, many of which were previously unavailable but are now within everyone's reach. It is worth noting that OBWhatsApp is not available on the Google Play Store, so we will provide you with a direct download link.
How to log in to OBWhatsApp:
There are no differences in the method and steps you are used to. After downloading and installing OBWhatsApp, you can launch OBWhatsApp. The registration window will appear, and the country code will be automatically selected. Simply enter your number in the designated field in OBWhatsApp.
OBWhatsApp will ask for permission to access the received text messages to verify the authenticity of the number. There is no problem if you deny permission to OBWhatsApp. However, in this case, you will need to copy and paste the code manually. After following these steps, you can add a personal photo and access the app's features.
Backup in new OBWhatsApp:
This is an important step for many people.. Through it, you will be able to restore your conversations that you had on the official application.
It is worth noting that in order to be able to use and run OBWhatsApp after downloading it, you must delete the original WhatsApp because they cannot be run simultaneously. To take a backup, go to the settings of the official application, specifically on the chats page. Perform this procedure, which will only take a few moments. After that you can uninstall the program and install the new OBWhatsApp.You will be asked to restore your backup. Agree to this option or go to Settings and restore it from there.
Why we use OBWhatsApp:
There are many reasons why people download OBWhatsApp. Since he gave them everything they needed, they now had complete freedom to communicate with others. And hide what you want to hide. OBWhatsApp is a new world of communication that does not impose any annoying conditions on its subscribers.
Many people were forced to use it after they lost hope that their demands would be met. Which is something developers always ignore, unlike OBWhatsApp. All options are available for your choice.
Features of the latest update OBWhatsApp:
In terms of updates, generally the OBWhatsApp version gets updated and includes all the new features.
Now this version of OBWhatsApp includes all new emojis. The shape of the posters and logos was also changed, and a watch sticker was added. The German language is available on WhatsApp, in addition to other languages, including Arabic, English, and others. You can update to the latest version from within without having to use websites.
Privacy in OBWhatsApp:
Undoubtedly, this is one of the main reasons why millions are downloading OBWhatsApp. Now, you can control different privacy options, whether to show or hide them.
The first option is to hide your online status, specifically hide the word “Online” when OBWhatsApp is active, so that no one can know when you are active. The second option is to hide the reading mark, so the other party will not see the double check marks when you read their messages. This way, you won't feel obligated to respond to messages you don't want to respond to. Additionally, you can hide the indication that you received a message and that it was delivered to you. This option has been satisfied and admired by many users. These two options will give you complete freedom to choose whether or not to respond to other people's conversations and messages. The privacy features don't stop there. You can also control the "Typing..." indicator that appears when you start typing on the keyboard or when you add emojis. This gives you the opportunity to delete what you have written and review the words and make sure they are accurate before sending. Moreover, OBWhatsApp allows you to hide that you are recording a voice message, which usually appears as “Recording...”. Therefore, you will not feel obligated to send recorded audio clips. None of your contacts will know if you've viewed their status or stories, whether it's a video or a photo. In the official app, this is visible to the status holder, but it was not well received by most users. Finally, you can activate the option to prevent deletion of messages within conversations, and avoid accidental deletion when copying messages or similar actions. You can also hide the "Writing..." indicator in group chats and discussions.
Stop the Internet from OBWhatsApp:
The new feature introduced recently makes OBWhatsApp unique among other social media apps. It has added many solutions for many types and categories of people, especially for those who receive messages on WhatsApp continuously and continuously.
Examples include corporate employees and meeting owners. This option will allow them to disable the Internet for the program only. Do they connect via Wi-Fi or mobile data. However, all other applications continue to work and are connected to the Internet. And also the ability to browse websites. This will not affect other applications or games that require the Internet during operation. This option appears at the top of the chat list. But you can hide it from this page and activate it in settings only to avoid accidental activation.
Scheduled messages within OBWhatsApp:
You can now compose or write a new message and specify the time at which it will be sent. You can schedule these messages for any day or month of the year. It will be sent automatically when the time you specify arrives.
This is considered an effective solution for those who do not have a strong memory to remember many events. For example, among other things, you can use this feature to wish your friends happy birthdays, public holidays, etc. OBWhatsApp will not need internet to send messages on time. This will do even if your phone is turned off. You can select any number of people to receive scheduled messages. With the option to cancel this message again at any time. The app allows you to select the hour, minute, and second you want to set and schedule an unlimited number of messages.
Status history inside OBWhatsApp:
condition: There have been significant changes and improvements. It allowed people to express their thoughts and desires in writing. It is worth noting that regular WhatsApp only allows a limited number of characters, which is not suitable for everyone and does not provide them with freedom of expression. This led them to shorten many words when adding their own case. Now, with OBWhatsApp, the character limit has increased significantly to 225 characters. This allows you to type whatever you want without worrying about character restrictions and maximums. story: Users also struggled with minimal video stories. It was not possible to add a video longer than half a minute. Now, with OBWhatsApp, this period has increased. The maximum length of videos is 7 minutes. Naturally, there is a big difference between the previous and current limit, which allows you to share long video clips from your gallery or any folder. Alternatively, you can record a new video internally using WhatsApp's color camera. And of course, you can add photos to your story. This media will remain in its original quality and resolution.
Send photos and videos to OBWhatsApp:
Pictures sent from OBWhatsApp:
With OBWhatsApp, the number of images that can be sent at once has become very large. Instead of selecting a small number of them to send at a time. Which took a lot of time. The sending process is also fast and smooth on OBWhatsApp. Without any transmission failure message, etc., the images will also arrive with the same quality and resolution.
Video sent from OBWhatsApp:
As for the videos, they had a large share of additions and benefits. Videos up to 50MB can now be shared instead of 15MB. This previously prompted the user to split the video into several parts in order to be able to send it. You won't have to take those annoying steps anymore. It is now possible to send clips in the highest HD quality and amazing transfer speeds.
Additional benefits within OBWhatsApp:
If you want to access the first part of one of your conversations that you had with anyone else. You won't have to spend a lot of time doing it the usual way, i.e. swiping up to read old messages.
In some cases, in large conversations with nearly a thousand messages, this may take an hour or more. But in OBWhatsApp there is a command in the chat settings that will take you to the first message with the click of a button. You can also stop receiving voice or video calls from others. Set a password for each conversation so that it can only be accessed after you type the lock code correctly. In addition to the ability to delete emojis that were recently present in the user's list. And turn off message and call notifications for any of your ongoing conversations. Also set the background for each chat from the wonderful collection of wallpapers that OBWhatsApp offers you, or import wallpapers from the gallery, as well as delete chat contents and block unwanted people.
OBWhatsApp settings:
Chat screen inside OBWhatsApp:
When talking about the top bar, its color and color gradient can be changed. In addition to the colors of the icons at the top. Also change the color of the contact name, make the font bold, and change the colors of the following items:
Hide the last time you were online. You can also remove the option to open your profile picture after downloading OBWhatsApp. Hide the contact icons and the person you are talking to, and change the design of the top bar.
Conversations:
Cancel the feature of highlighting text and messages when long pressing on the message and choose a different shape for chat bubbles in OBWhatsApp. Same for link colors, message size, and time size. If you want to be notified about last seen, you can set this option in this menu. Do not allow sensors to mute messages, hide camera icons, or record audio. The same applies to the status and size of icons. OBWhatsApp has a great option to view long messages in their entirety instead of using the Read More command. With dozens of other options.
Call screen:
You can change the background and colors of contact icons for outgoing, incoming, missed calls and call count. By controlling the size of the date and time of each call in the new OBWhatsApp, the same applies to the name and number.
The most important new notifications within OBWhatsApp:
It provides you with many and varied notifications. When one of your contacts goes online, you will receive a notification, provided they have enabled the option to share their online status, and their number is saved in your contacts. This feature allows you to stay updated on who is communicating with you and interact with them easily.
Widget settings:
OBWhatsApp offers various notifications, including the ability to customize the color, size, and number of messages, as well as the contact name, date, and message colors.

In addition, new themes are added periodically, including themes related to various sports, football clubs, famous players, romantic designs, sad themes, landscapes, celebrities, cartoon drawings, and many others. How Billionaires Organize Their WorkSpace—What You can Learn From it?
Do you ever wonder what billionaires’ workspace looks like and how they manage their workspaces?
What was their workspace before they were famous or Internet celebrities?
In this post, we will explore the workspaces of Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Mike Bloomberg, and Kevin Kelly with many other articles and entrepreneurs to see how they are productive and what their workspace looks like.
We will also see what we can learn from them.
Bill Gates
Bill Gates is an American technology entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist better known for the software company Microsoft, As of Dec 2023 it's being valued at 2.76 trillion dollars.
The first person to achieve a $100 Billion net worth. He also owns Codex Leicester, a collection of scientific writing by Leonardo da Vinci.
Gates being a nerd is interesting to see what his workspace looks like.
These are some photographs of the workspace of Bill Gates when he was building Microsoft. You can clearly see the messy piles of papers with computers, keyboards, and telephones.
Gradually over the year, he becomes neat and clean as other work is delegated to others. Gates now uses a clean work setup with a water bottle, computer, keyboard, mouse, and other important things.
Throughout the images of Bill Gates, you can see a book near to him, as he likes to read a lot.
Elon Musk
Elon Musk is an interest entrepreneur and investor and the wealthiest person in the world with over $222 billion as of Dec 2023. He is the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, owner of X, formally Twitter, and also the founder of xAI.
Mr. Musk always grabs a vacant desk whenever he needs one to work and it's interesting to see what his workspace looks like.
Elon Musk always uses an oval-shaped desk to work from the end of his work desktop and other end his places his other important documents or projects.
The desk is somewhat clean and you always find some book near to him, being an avid reader like Bill Gates. The U-shaped desk is the most interesting thing I liked the most from his workspace.
It allows him to switch places from his desktop to the front when he meets someone.
You can also see Musk always works in a place that has large windows to allow natural sun lights to come.
Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg is a computer programmer and entrepreneur, better known for social media Apps like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Threads. He is the CEO of Facebook and its parent company, Meta.
Mark is also an interesting personality and it is interesting to see the workspace of Mark Zuckerberg.
From the early days of Facebook, Mark has been comfortable with a small setup with a monitor or laptop with a mouse or some paper around him. You can clearly see he only uses a laptop and it allows him to work from anywhere.
You can see the present day picture of Mark’s desk where you can see some books, a laptop with no mouse and cable connect to it, his phone and Meta Quest VR, which lunched recently.
Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was an American businessman, inventor, and investor better known for co-founding Apple Inc. He was also the primary investor of Pixar and the founder of NeXT.
As you can see the workspace of Steve Jobs from the last days of his life. He is kind of messy and that may be the sign of geniuses. He is filled with books, electronic devices, and piles of papers.
Nothing is expected more from a person who values and makes minimalist products like iPod, iPhone, and iPad.
Mike Bloomberg
Micheal Bloomberg is an American businessman and politician, who is better known for founding Bloomberg L.P. financial data services firm, and served as mayor of New York City from 2002-2013.
The workspace of Bloomberg looks like the modern coders with multiple screens and monitors opened with chats. Because of his industry, he is always open to news and chats on his multiple monitors.
Kevin Kelly
Kevin Kelly is a founding executive editor of Wired magazine. He is also a writer and photographer. Kelly is an interesting man and with also in his workspace. His workspace looks different from other billionaires.
He also has a messy desktop with a wall of Legos and a skeleton of some kind. You can see the mess of things like books, notebooks, papers, mic, desktops, and more.
See Workspaces of Great Minds, Artists, Scientists, and Writers
Jane Austen, Novelist:
Yoshitomo Nara, Artist:
Pablo Picasso, Painter:
Mark Twain, Writer:
Virginia Wolf, Writer:
Roald Dahl, Children's Writer:
Thomas Edison, Inventor:
Stephen Hawkings, Theoretical Physicist:
Nicholas Tesla, Inventor:
Martin Luther King, Political Leader:
Warren Buffet, Investor:
NASA Scientists:
Bob Dylan, Singer:
Winston Churchill, Former PM of the US and political Leader:
Neil Gaiman, Writer:
PS: You can see my workspace here.
What You can learn from their workspaces?
Looking at different kinds of workspaces from modern-day entrepreneurs to billionaires and artists to scientists, here are some of the things that we can learn from their workspaces.
Everybody is different in their own way, we can't say a clean background led to success or a messy own. They are the clear examples of this.
You can often find books in their workspace that allow them to read whenever they want to.
Some use a simple workspace and other messy or complex workspaces like Bloomberg with multiple monitors.
They seem to love their own workspace with their own choice of design.

Considering Threads
Back in the day - in other words, before it became a bigot-filled mess - I was a huge fan of Twitter.
I’ll admit to spending far too much time on the app, but I’ll also admit to enjoying myself and making some real friends along the way. Once Space Karen took over, I used it less and less, turning instead to Mastodon and Instagram to both express myself and keep in touch with friends.
The Twitter app came off my devices, I deleted one of my accounts, and spent my days getting to grips with all the nuances and differences on Mastodon.
This week saw the launch of Threads and reader, I signed up immediately. But before you shut your browser window in disgust, let me explain.
I was all in on Instagram, so the privacy and data use concerns being shouted from the rooftops were already familiar to me. Familiar, not agreeable or pleasant. Basically, I’ve already sold my soul to Meta by using Instagram and Whatsapp. Getting my hands on a contemporary Twitter-alternative seemed like a no-brainer.
And for these first few days, it seems like a place I’d like to keep using. It’s definitely a rough Beta, missing lots of functionality you’d expect in 2023 (alt text for images, lists, direct messages, a followers' feed…the list goes on) but lots of this stuff is on the way.
What I’ve found, once I’ve muted all the random accounts that annoy me, is reconnection with people I’ve missed since I left Twitter, and all the fun of Twitter circa 2009.
On the other hand, what I’ve seen on Mastodon has been a ton of condemnation of anyone who steps foot on Meta’s new platform. I understand a lot of the frustration with these platforms and why Mastondon fans are so wary of Meta, Twitter et al. But as far as I’m concerned, the benefits I’m getting outweigh the negatives.
I’ll be keeping a foot in both camps for the foreseeable future. Not to mention micro.blog, where I’m also sharing my ‘wisdom’. Let’s see how Threads pans out and whether it remains positive and fun, or it too descends into a cesspool of nastiness.

WhatsApp API Face-Off: Cloud vs. On-Premise – What You Need to Know
WhatApp is the best application for communicating personally and professionally. Meta makes necessary changes daily to improve the customer experience. That’s why they expanded WhatsApp to suit the business market. The WhatsApp cloud API is the best option for fulfilling all customers’ needs when considering core business requirements. This API plays a great role in the Whatsapp ecosystem. Choosing the API sounds wise if you are interested in getting benefits with WhatsApp automation but are unaware of the WhatsApp ecosystem.
Tumblr media
You should not doubt whether to use WhatsApp in the cloud or on-premise to engage with more customers. Be cool and read the description below.
Brief description of the WhatsApp API
WhatsApp Business API is the smart choice for medium and large companies whose professionals want to communicate with their maximum customers. Compared to the common WhatsApp business, WhatsApp Business API is quite complex and powerful in conveying messages. The application does not contain any app or front-end interface that would be helpful for customization. However, users are allowed to integrate into your business application and software. To use it in real-time practice, you have two hosting options: cloud or on-premise.
Availability of WhatsApp hosting options: If you do not like to engage in simple WhatsApp business and switch to WhatsApp API, you have two hosting options: cloud and on-premise hosting platforms. Third-party and business service providers provide you with the on-premise WhatsApp API.
Go through the valuable difference between WhatsApp API and cloud API: There is no absolute declaration of which API fits perfectly to achieve your business objective. Your preference to select WhatsApp API depends on which function you need to use. The cloud and on-premise WhatsApp do not impact the end-user in the context of performance. However, they notice the minute difference when sending messages on their device screen.
Hosting: To use the WhatsApp API, you should have a server and data center to host API software. Meta hosts the API on its server. However, you should choose particular hosting options based on your budget and business objectives.
Access: While considering WhatsApp cloud API, Facebook will provide instant access to the cloud API. One can start instant messaging prospective customers. On the other hand, instant messaging is not possible using WhatsApp business API as your business must be approved through the WhatsApp business API service.
Maintenance: The cloud API Whatapps upgrades automatically because Meta manages everything. Developers do not do any set-up, maintenance, or scaling work. The code change happens to accept long-term API changes. In the case of Windows API, business professionals periodically upgrade their API to access their new features and functions.
Cost: When comparing the On-premise WhatsApp API and cloud Whatsapp API, BSPs must pay for set-up, server messages, pay-per-message, and conversion. They should also have to go through WhatsApp API pricing rules. After a while, they decide whether to adhere to this pricing. On the other hand, you need to pay for messages and conversion. Therefore, you are less likely to pay more for cloud API hosting.
Ensure which API is perfect for you: Go through your needs and limitations for accepting APIs. If you want to achieve hosting and API from a single platform, end your search with a cloud Whatsapp business API to explore business.

download whatsapp group phone number
WhatsApp has become one of the most widely used communication platforms worldwide, connecting millions of users daily. Whether you’re looking to extract contacts for business purposes or find new groups and links, using a WhatsApp contacts extractor can make the process quick and seamless. In this blog post, we’ll explore how tools like the WhatsApp extractor, WA contacts extractor, and WhatsApp groups and links finder can help you maximize your usage of the platform while ensuring privacy with extensions for WhatsApp Web.
Why Use a WhatsApp Contacts Extractor?
If you manage large groups or use WhatsApp for marketing purposes, manually retrieving phone numbers can be time-consuming. A WhatsApp contacts extractor simplifies this process by pulling contacts from your chats and groups in just a few clicks.
Key Benefits:
Save time and effort in gathering contacts.
Ideal for business promotions or personal group management.
Avoids manual data entry errors.
By extracting these contacts, you can streamline your communication and marketing efforts, focusing on growing your business or network.
How to Use a WhatsApp Extractor
A WhatsApp extractor is a tool that can pull phone numbers and other contact information directly from your WhatsApp account. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to use a typical extractor tool:
Download and Install the Tool: Look for a trusted WhatsApp extractor tool compatible with your device (Windows, Mac, Android, etc.).
Login to WhatsApp: Ensure that you are logged into your WhatsApp account either on the app or via WhatsApp Web.
Select Chats/Groups: Choose the specific chats or groups from which you wish to extract phone numbers.
Start Extraction: Hit the ‘extract’ button, and the tool will retrieve and list all the phone numbers from the selected chats or groups.
Export Contacts: Export the extracted contacts in formats like CSV or Excel for easy use in marketing or organization purposes.
Download WhatsApp Group Phone Numbers
When participating in large groups, manually noting down each phone number can be overwhelming. Luckily, there are ways to download WhatsApp group phone numbers quickly:
WhatsApp Group Extractor Tools: These tools allow you to easily extract and download all the phone numbers from any group you're part of.
Contact Management Software: Integrate your WhatsApp extractor with contact management software to automatically update your database with new contacts.
Important Consideration: Be sure to respect privacy and legal guidelines. Only use these tools with consent or within the limits of WhatsApp's terms and conditions.
WA Contacts Extractor: A Powerful Tool for Business
The WA contacts extractor is a valuable tool for anyone needing to manage multiple contacts from their WhatsApp account. It can be particularly useful for businesses looking to:
Build a customer database: Easily extract customer contact information for follow-ups or promotions.
Simplify communication: Organize contacts from multiple groups and chats for quick access.
The WA contacts extractor works similarly to other extraction tools but is often more tailored to WhatsApp Business users, providing features such as filtering and tagging contacts by group or conversation.
Privacy Extensions for WhatsApp Web
Using WhatsApp on your desktop through WhatsApp Web can be convenient, but it may expose your privacy to some risks. To ensure that your conversations and contact information remain secure, consider using a privacy extension for WhatsApp Web.
What Do Privacy Extensions Offer?
Hide Contacts & Conversations: Mask your contacts and chat history from prying eyes.
Encryption & Security: Protect your chats and personal data from unauthorized access.
Automatic Logout: Set up your extension to log out automatically after a certain time to prevent data leaks.
WhatsApp Groups and Links Finder
One of the best features of WhatsApp is the ability to connect with like-minded individuals through groups. A WhatsApp groups and links finder helps you find public groups related to your interests or business needs.
Here’s how you can benefit from using a WhatsApp groups and links finder:
Explore new communities: Join groups relevant to your business, hobbies, or professional interests.
Expand your network: Find groups with thousands of members to promote your services or products.
Stay Updated: Join groups that share important updates, trends, and insights within your industry.
Safety Tips When Using Extractor Tools
While using tools like a WhatsApp contacts extractor or WhatsApp groups and links finder can be highly beneficial, it's important to stay mindful of privacy concerns. Here are a few safety tips:
Use Verified Tools: Only download extractor tools from trusted sources to avoid malware or phishing attacks.
Respect Privacy: Ensure you have permission before extracting or using someone else’s contact information.
Backup Data: Always backup your WhatsApp chats and contact data in case of any unforeseen issues with the extractor tool.
Conclusion
Using a WhatsApp contacts extractor or a WhatsApp groups and links finder can significantly enhance how you interact with WhatsApp for personal or business use. Whether you want to download WhatsApp group phone numbers or use a privacy extension for WhatsApp Web, the right tools can save you time, improve efficiency, and help you grow your network. By ensuring you're using these tools responsibly and securely, you can take full advantage of the benefits they offer.

How Online Misinformation Stoked Anti-Migrant Riots in Britain
New Post has been published on https://sa7ab.info/2024/08/06/how-online-misinformation-stoked-anti-migrant-riots-in-britain/
How Online Misinformation Stoked Anti-Migrant Riots in Britain
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Britain is grappling with escalating violence after a weekend of anti-immigration attacks raged across the country, culminating with rioters lighting fires at two hotels used to house asylum seekers while guests and staff were still inside.
Around 250 rioters have been arrested in connection to the attacks, which broke out in predominantly English towns and cities, but also in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Far-right groups were seen looting, attacking police and locals, and performing Nazi salutes in the street. As the mobs chanted “send them home” and “Islam out,” they also destroyed mosques, libraries, and graffitied racial slurs on homes.
In some of the more violent instances, rioters stormed hotels housing asylum seekers in the towns of Tamworth, Staffordshire, and Rotherham, Yorkshire. Footage shows men in Rotherham breaking into the hotel, while those outside attempted to set the building alight.
The uprisings were organized on social media following the spread of online misinformation that the fatal stabbing on July 29 of three young girls attending a dance class in Southport, northwest England, was carried out by a Muslim immigrant. After mounting media pressure, a U.K. judge revealed that Axel Rudakubana, the accused 17-year-old assailant—whose identity was initially concealed due to laws protecting minors—was born in Cardiff, Wales and is not Muslim. But that didn’t stop the rumor from spreading quickly online, mobilizing anti-immigrant groups on social media into a week of violent outbursts.
U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the violence as “far-right thuggery” and “racist rhetoric,” stopping short of describing the attacks as islamophobic in a TV address. “Let me also say to large social media companies and those who run them: Violent disorder, clearly whipped up online—that is also a crime. It’s happening on your premises, and the law must be upheld everywhere,” Starmer said.
Downing Street hosted an emergency COBRA meeting on Monday to coordinate a response with ministers and police officials. Starmer pledged the deployment of a “standing army” of specialist officers to tackle violent outbreaks; further attacks are planned on Wednesday evening, according to social media apps such as Whatsapp.
As U.K. leaders scramble to curb further aggressions, here’s what to know about the riots.
Where did the riots take place?
Police presence was required at 56 far-right gatherings or heated counter protests on Saturday and Sunday.
At first, unrest broke out on July 30, in Southport near the scene of the dance class stabbing, with hundreds of masked people gathering at a local mosque to throw bricks and rocks at it, as well as torching a police van.
Wider action coordinated on social media apps soon spread to other towns and cities across the U.K. On Saturday, far-right gatherings took place in Hull, Liverpool, Bristol, Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Blackpool, and Belfast. Sunday’s violence escalated in Rotherham, Tamworth, Middlesbrough, Bolton, Hull and Weymouth.
In Rotherham on Sunday, a crowd of around 700 predominantly men began to congregate outside a Holiday Inn Express, home to asylum seekers. The group clashed with police clad in riot gear, throwing chairs and other debris at the officers, before setting a bin on fire and throwing it through a smashed window at the hotel. One video, taken by a migrant trapped inside the hotel and shared by a journalist at The Times, shows a rioter miming the cutting of a neck. The incident saw at least 10 police officers injured but employees and guests were not physically harmed.
In a similar incident in Tamworth on Sunday, a Holiday Inn that has long housed asylum seekers became a target for enraged attackers. Individuals launched petrol bombs and fireworks at police outside the hotel. Staffordshire Police have described the attacks as “senseless violence” and said that acts of “despicable thuggery” are inexcusable.
Middlesbrough also saw around 300 people gathering at the town’s cenotaph. Scenes of chaos erupted as a group of masked men began marching and smashing windows in their path. In Bolton, rioters holding England flags clashed with a group of counter-protesters.
How did social media ignite the violence?
Facebook posts, images shared across Telegram, and lists of national targets forwarded on Whatsapp groups contributed to the organized wave of uprisings that began as an isolated incident in Southport. One claim that an asylum seeker or migrant was responsible for the Southport stabbing reached at least 15.7 million accounts across a number of social media platforms, Reuters reported. A news channel also published an unsubstantiated claim that the attacker had arrived in the U.K. on a small boat, before apologizing for inaccurate reporting.
Social media is an essential tool for extremist groups to galvanize a “spark to flash,” says Jacob Davey, Director of Policy and Research for Counter-Hate at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. “We wouldn’t see the types of activity we saw over the weekend without it,” he says.
Davey says that social media creates the background noise and “permissive environment” that enables violent or radical individuals to engage in herd mentality. Isolated incidents, he says, are platformed by high-profile, “deeply cynical actors” who encourage their followers to commit hate crimes and acts of violence.
In this case, both Tommy Robinson, founder of the far-right group English Defense League, and Nigel Farage, a controversial anti-immigration figure elected to Parliament this year, publicly shared conspiracies that the police force was withholding information about the Southport assailant’s identity as a Muslim or a migrant, before details were released.
According to Davey, content recommendation systems and algorithms can amplify disinformation to a boiling point. The U.K. has introduced recent online protections under the Online Safety Act 2023, which places certain responsibilities on social media companies to ensure user safety on their platforms.
Elon Musk, X’s CEO, has responded to scenes emerging from the U.K. riots with two tweets that appear to shrug at the effects of online conspiracies. One post saw him simply replying “Insane” to a video of Starmer’s speech holding large social media companies responsible for attacks that brew online. In another, Musk posted “civil war is inevitable” in response to videos of a crowd lighting fires and setting off fireworks.
Did British immigration anxiety fuel unrest?
The ongoing riots have brought renewed attention to anxieties about U.K. migration. Stopping the arrival of small boats arriving in Britain was a policy priority for the Labour party and the Conservative party during last month’s election.
Donna Jones, a Conservative politician and the police and crime commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, has suggested that current unrest is an act of “rebellion” against “mass uncontrolled immigration.”
“I’ve spoken to people from both sides of the spectrum and the only way to stem the tide of violent disorder is to acknowledge what is causing it,” Jones said, calling the Southport attacks a catalyst.
Other politicians, such as Charlotte Nichols, Labour MP for Warrington North, have called Jones’ comments “untenable” and drawn a distinction between concerns about immigration, and the legitimization of “thuggery.”
But rising fears about migration are concentrated in small communities rather than part of a broader trend in British society, says Anand Menon, the director of U.K. in a Changing Europe, a London-based think tank. “If you look at the British people as a whole, what you’re talking about is a low levels of concern about immigration, and actually a far more positive view of immigration overall than was the case” in 2016 when 52% of the nation voted to leave the European Union, says Menon.
According to a Ipsos poll on Brits’ attitudes towards immigration, conducted in February, the percentage of people with a positive view towards immigration has decreased since July 2022, but remains overall more positive than negative. In a survey of 3,000 adults, 40% still believe that migration has had a positive impact on the nation, compared with 35% who hold a negative view, 17% who are neutral, and an 8% who did not know.

When we kept past travel blogs, I typically posted everyday, which was a great way for me to stay on top of what we'd done and remember the names of places we went and all our details! Now that I'm only posting to this one twice a week, I feel like I'm forgetting and leaving out so much! I'll do my best to capture a little bit of what we've done since last Friday.
Over the weekend the weather wasn't very cold. But, there were periods of nice sunshine; however, rain storms kept popping up. Once on Saturday, while I was on an outing with Alex, we got caught in a big rainstorm and had to take shelter in the central market square under a cafe umbrella. It was just pouring. But they had a large screen TV that was showing the Olympics, so at least we were entertained.
I'm not sure if I mentioned that we live right across the street from the main train station in a old building, on a street called Ratautienkatu (which means like "train station street"), on the top floor, in a very nice three-bedroom apartment, which Tampere University is providing for us. There are buses and trams readily available both on our street and right around the corner, on the main drag (Hämeenkatu). All the shopping anyone could ever want is available just out our doorstep. There are also many nice restaurants all around and some really happenin' bars on the ground floor of our building; beer-drinking seems to be going on at one of the bars from the earliest hours we've been out, like 9 a.m. (no we haven't gone out very early yet; that's about to change!). We discovered that those can be quite noisy over the weekend. But with the double windows all Finnish buildings have, most of the noise is kept out, except for the booming bass, which seemed to go until after 5:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. We all had a bit of a rocky go of it with sleeping over the weekend. I did the best of all of us. It was more a jet-lag thing than it was a nightclub-interference thing.
Basically, over the weekend, we had lots of running around to do. While our apartment has all of the basics we might need, there were lots of things we knew we would need to get when we got here. The kids were desperate, for example, to get rollerblades and we needed to get them some back-to-school supplies. My childhood friend Ryley, who lives in Norway, tipped me off to the fact that her kids just go to school with a backpack and their pencil box. I knew our kids would not need to take much, but I wasn't hip to this pencil-box concept. I looked up a woman on WhatsApp who I had communicated with through the "English-speaking Mums in Tampere" Facebook group, whose kids will go to my kids' school, and I contacted her. She told me that back to school information was sent last week through the school's app (Wilma), but we were not yet associated with the app, so I was totally in the dark! She explained to me what was needed and then the kids and I went to this adorable bookstore/stationery store (Suomalainen Kirjakauppa, which means "Finnish Bookshop"), in one of the malls nearby and asked the employee there to help us determine what they would need for a pencil box. Cece brought a snap box from home and she filled it with all of her school supplies that she had, and Rowan got a new black zipper pouch. I think we're all set in the pencil box department now! 🙃
Other weekend highlights were me going to a used sewing machine store where the older woman that ran it only spoke Finnish. That was a real adventure. The least expensive used machine she had was a 1970 Husqvarna Viking (similar to this one, but all tan, not brown) with interchangeable cams. It was so amazing. But it weighed like 100 lb, so it wasn't practical. But it was really neat to think about it and to watch some YouTube videos about that amazing machine. We also went to a really cool flea market and didn't buy anything, but they had some neat pitchers with pour spouts (like this, but purple) designed by Kaj Franck, who I actually mention in a book chapter of the project I'm working on right now. And finally we went to an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet, and it was incredible. Perhaps I'm just paranoid but at places that are all-you-can-eat buffets, I always worry that I'm going to get food poisoning, but we all cleared that hurdle with no issues. We also did several long walks and checked out where the kids school is. So relieved to know where that is!
Finally, on Monday, we went first-thing to a skate shop that happens to be in the lower level of a woman's house and we got the kids' ice skates for the season (the first brand-new skates they've ever had!). They started with their ice skating club yesterday (Varala-Tiimi) and had a great first session. It was really exciting for them to get going and to meet some other kids. Cece already made a friend who speaks some English and Rowan showed everyone how much zip he has, in the off-ice training ❤️
As for Eric, he's already worked out, gone swimming in a lake twice, gone swimming in the lovely public pool, and gone running. I have corresponded with my colleagues and will meet with one this week! Today is Tuesday and since it is the last summer-break day before school starts, we started it off at the pool and now we're heading to skating training.
A few quick observations: 1) we still can't register for anything (like a cell phone plan or a bank account) without our Finnish ID number and that'll be 4-6 weeks; 2) the weather has been incredible today, sunny and in the 70s; just delightful, 3) as we knew but are now experiencing everyday, the public transportation is incredible.
More in a few days! Take care, everyone 💝

Meta AI on WhatsApp: Your Photo Editing Assistant Arrives
Tumblr media
You may access Gen AI on the go with Meta  AI on WhatsApp: This is how to apply it. Have you updated to WhatsApp’s Meta  AI yet? This is a thorough examination of Meta AI, an AI helper that will transform communication.
Luckily all been amazed by ChatGPT’s accuracy, which is human-like, in providing answers to queries and helping with everyday tasks. Imagine now having your most-used smartphone app equipped with this generative AI superpower. With Meta AI, Meta has made this feasible.
Meta AI on WhatsApp works on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger using its in-house LLM LLaMA 3. LLaMA 3 improves Meta AI’s intelligence, speed, fun, and customization. This helpful AI produces human-like responses directly within the apps after being educated on an enormous dataset consisting of 15 trillion tokens.
Meta  AI uses feeds, chats, and other capabilities in Meta apps to help users create content, research topics, and complete tasks without leaving the app.
Meta  AI can answer questions and converse with WhatsApp users. The AI assistant’s LLM provides responses but may also search the internet for more information.
This article discusses Meta AI on WhatsApp numerous uses, how to use it, and more. Remember that Meta AI can only read and react to inquiries that reference it. Questions beyond this are rejected. Meta says all private chats and texts are still end-to-end encrypted, so WhatsApp and Meta cannot see or hear them.
How To Use Meta AI on WhatsApp
First, update WhatsApp on your iOS or Android phone. An iridescent purple-blue ring will unlock Meta  AI after completion. On Android smartphones, the ring appears in the bottom right corner above the group + icon, and on iOS devices, it appears in the top right next to the camera icon. Clicking the symbol opens Meta  AI chat instantly.
Group talks with Meta AI are fun. Open a group chat and type Meta AI to activate the AI Assistant. The terms can be viewed and agreed to after entering the tag. After accepting, type your prompt. With Meta  AI on WhatsApp, you can rapidly produce and exchange ideas and in-depth analysis. You save time by not needing to open Google or ChatGPT to continue talks.
Meta AI can have informal chats on various topics and answer with knowledge and humors.
It also helps with searches by displaying relevant internet results in the app. Meta  AI also lets you describe an image and generate a photorealistic one.
It’s great for work productivity. Meta AI can help you write emails, change tone instantly, and have professional conversations. It’s also great for organizing meeting notes and brainstorming writing ideas.
Meta AI has several daily updates and news. If a user wants top news from their preferred news outlet, the AI assistant will gather the most popular items.
Meta  AI is a great word and image generator with a few flaws. I found that Meta AI is great for group talks, however it sometimes misses the plot and doesn’t respond well.
It may be because it reads direct communications. Similarly, every image appeared to be AI-generated. Perhaps more iterations could yield more realistic visuals.
How to disable Meta AI on WhatsApp
At present, Meta  AI on WhatsApp cannot be disabled or uninstalled. Meta AI can be muted on Facebook and Instagram, but WhatsApp and Messenger discussion threads should be deleted. You will lose touch with Meta AI and any conversations you have with it.

In addition, the business has now released a stand-alone website that lets users use Meta AI directly and for free from any online browser.
For now, Meta  AI is available for free, but in order to interact with the website’s AI virtual assistant, you need to have a Facebook account. This implies that access to the web version of Meta AI will be restricted to anyone without a Facebook account.
Llama 3, which is capable of producing both text and graphics, powers Meta  AI. Meta AI can also convert AI-generated photos into brief animated clips with a single click; these movies can be further modified through text prompts. Real-time image production previews are available to users.
Meta AI functions very much the same as any other generative AI tool. You may ask it any kind of question and use it to compose an essay or an email. It is said to be able to provide current and pertinent findings because it has access to the most recent data from the internet.
In contrast to ChatGPT Plus and Gemini Advanced, Meta  AI does not have a premium edition. Right now, anyone can use all of the functions without any restrictions and for free.
How to use any web browser to access Meta AI
Using Meta  AI’s web version is a simple process that can be accessed using desktop and mobile web browsers. If you are already logged in, you can put your query directly into the chat box, or Meta AI will offer you some of the prompts you can attempt on the main page.
Like other chatbots, Meta AI keeps track of every discussion it has with users, making it accessible at any moment. Users can also choose to remove a particular conversation. As of right now, Meta  AI does not offer a temporary chat function like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Edit Photos in WhatsApp?
According to reports, Meta  AI on WhatsApp is going to roll out new features that will let it respond to and alter user-submitted photographs. This feature improves user interactions within the app by utilising cutting-edge AI technology. Here are some salient details regarding this impending development:
Improved User Interaction: Users will be able to email photos to Meta AI, which will process them and reply with pertinent information. This could include remarks, recommendations, or responses to inquiries concerning the substance of the picture.
Photo Editing: Meta AI will be able to alter images in addition to responding. This might entail simple edits like cropping, filtering, or adding annotations to images, enabling users to improve their shots right in the chat window.
Personalised Assistance: A further level of personalisation is added by the  AI’s capacity to engage with images. For example, it may offer photographic advice, point out things or locations in users’ images, or even recommend artistic modifications.
Time-Saving Tool: By incorporating photo editing and interaction right into the chat, this tool tries to save users time by removing the need to use third-party programmes for simple photo adjustments.
AI-Driven Communication: With the addition of photo reply and edit functions, communication will become increasingly AI-driven. This means that conversations will become more lively and interesting as the  AI is able to comprehend and engage with visual information.
Potential Use Cases: Users could utilise this functionality for a number of things, such receiving comments on their images, having fun with the  AI’s creative changes, or receiving automated upgrades for social media sharing.
Future Integration: This feature is a part of Meta’s larger plan to provide more  artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to its platforms. This could result in more sophisticated features and increased app integration.
Overall, the addition of Meta AI’s photo reply and edit features to WhatsApp is expected to improve user experience overall by streamlining interactions and offering useful tools inside the messaging app.
