If you had to add one fan OC to the NWR, who would it be? (Only caveat is that it cannot be a copy of a pre-existing RWS character. This includes Scott.)

This is a tough question! I'm going to guess that I can't include Andrew in this answer (cause that's way too biased), so I'll run on with that in mind. Cause if he was included, it'd be him. He's my OC, and therefore would be my instant pick - and that kind of negates the entire question. Sorry Andrew, maybe next time!

I'm also going to avoid picking Alfred the B12, mostly cause he's one of those characters who has practically melded his way into the series already as 98462.

Ok, so I think a preface to my answer is to note that I grew up on the very early years of the Thomas fandom on YouTube - we're talking 2011 and 2012 (to give you an idea of what was going on around this time, it's only about 2 years after Alfred the B12 was introduced). This era was very much coloured by a hatred of the HiT era, SiF was still the dominant place to find Thomas content, and many of the cornerstones of the Thomas fandom on YouTube were just starting out. And I was not on SiF much at this point (I was a kid back then, and YouTube was easy to find and use) - so I grew up on EE93, WildNorWester and DieselD199.

With this in mind, I would have to pick Alice.

Alice is a WildNorWester OC from their series 'Sodor the Early Years' (link to her debut episode here) and perhaps one of my favourite early era OCs. Then again, it's hard to decide when it comes to WildNorWester simply because they created several of the most notable and well-remembered fan engines - Peter, Eric, Iris, Lily, Adam, Colin and Patrick all originated with WildNorWester, not to mention Andreas and Atlas. And most of them have had up to 10 years to bed into the fandom. EE93's Young Tucker is another good contender, though they're a bit more obscure.

I recommend all three YouTubers and their series'. The quality may not be exactly the greatest anymore, but wow are they incredible to watch!

Hang on, random question for Thomas Tumblr, what fan series have you watched on YouTube, if any?

I know there's some who've got into the fandom mainly through Tumblr, while most I know grew up on fan series' by the likes of CombineHarvester01, trainlover476, tardisrescue, WildNorWester etc, so this is something that lingered on my mind today.

Also have you watched WildNorWester's adaptation series? Adeline the phantom engine.

Or more shadows? Idk. I'm a real spoilsport. I know this episode is beloved—and I'm fine with it, overall!—but I do think they could have done more with the set to create a spooky atmosphere than to just use the usual night lights. Compare and contrast Clearwater 😤

Still, it's very nice to look at and I love the character work with Duncan. He is 100% the kind of guy to scoff at the idea of ghosts and then to get spooked. That's him. In RWS Mr Plain-Spoken is remarkably soft-hearted and susceptible to stories.

I do have some mild complaints about the other characters, though. Did we need another story where Rusty is the smart and perfect one? I'd have loved if their role in this story had been given to Duke or even Sir Handel—"you're going to have a go at our Stuart? well then prepare to be slapped down, punk." They could have even used Duke just for the scene where Duncan is told the story—he'd be stationary the whole time so it wouldn't matter if (as I assume) the model wasn't running well!

Here r some headcanons from my au I have going on, sorry if it’s long

Rebecca and Peter(wildnorwester) r the standard gauge parents in my big engine/express gang, Peter managed to get both gordon and flying Scotsman to have a proper meal, restaurant and get along. He kinda like Edward in a way but at the same time different (Gordon might’ve called him dad once but was instantly mortified but Peter promises he’ll a secret)

speaking of, they share custody with ivo hugh and Luke with the narrow gauge and diesels, they take them on weekends, Rebecca adopts them. She’s also very close friends with Stanley(msr/narrow gauge) cause clumsy but well meaning. Stanley’s a honorary member of the big engines club even if he’s lost and confused over their shenanigans but he chills with them.

Falcon and Andreas(wildnorwester) r express gossip buddies, have been since the beginning and closure of the msr, they often try and get Terence and Godred so they can exchange the hot scoops with one another

Edward and Cecil(87546) are best friends, Cecil kinda acts like his bodyguard and is protective of his friends even though he’s super quiet, he was frightened of roughly everyone even the narrow and mini gauge engines at first, but everyone can tell he slowly becoming more happier even if he doesn’t talk much, he appreciates it a lot

Adam (wildnorwester) diesel and Alfred r friends cause they’re trying to redeem themselves (Alfred here is different, he was a huge jerk but he’s different) they still put tricks and pranks but it’s more lighthearted now(Alfred finds diesel’s names to the strike trio to be hilarious and wished he taught of that sooner) they often just vibe

Out of curiosity, what exactly do you think of the Adeline miniseries from WildNorWester?

I really liked it! I'm a big fan of WildNorWester - I remember waiting every weekend for a new upload back when he was doing Season 5 of 'Sodor the Early Years', as well as both 'Sodor the Modern Years' seasons! I'll admit it's been a good while since I last watched the Adeline miniseries, but I remember watching it and then immediately sleuthing with a friend on Discord over the various mystery aspects of the series.

WildNorWester is probably one of the biggest influences in me starting to write fanfic, if I'm honest!

Also, apologies for the long wait - my computer went and died on me (and now I have a heap of Uni exams... yay...) so I'm only now able to start popping back in. I hope to start getting back into the swing of things soon...ish. Depends on Uni.

Some wips of some ghost ladies. Adeline maybe when she was younger and Lucy currently as a phantom. I need to add their burns and other scars but here’s what Lucy would look like.

Lucy’s character is quite tragic if one thinks about it. She only collected scrap she doesn’t participate in the killing (or being the one to do the final firing) she attempts to comfort them in their last moments of life. Too bad not many saw this and saw her as a traitor to their own kind.

Sorry for the lull in posts lately, I’ve been so busy with so much trying to get a video done :/ So I decided to give a little sneak preview of a storyboard animatic I’m making for one of my favorite “The Extended Railway Series” story’s, I won’t say which but it’s from ‘Mid Sodor Engines’ ;) The standard gauge engine seen in the 4th image is 'Lily' who was created by and belongs to WildNorWester who himself has created an amazing fan-series which I highly advise checking out :)
