And then Zoey's Dad has a neurological condition that had some similarities to my dad's stroke/vascular dementia. So it got heavy.

But I'm curious to see how it turns out. And the final episode/tv movie is Christmas themed it would coincide with the season.

In 2020, we were introduced to Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, a unique musical dramedy about a computer coder (Jane Levy) who suddenly began to hear people’s innermost thoughts through song, allowing for many impressive performances and some of our favorite moments of TV to this day. After two seasons at NBC, it was canceled, but then fans got a follow-up movie on The Roku Channel, Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas, in 2021. So what are the chances for more of any kind? We’ll take another season, movie, anything!

“I’m sitting right now in the production office of Zoey’s because we actually shoot on this exact same lot,” Skylar Astin (who played Max) tells TV Insider while discussing his current hit show, So Help Me Todd. “I’m currently in what was [Zoey’s creator] Austin Winsberg’s office. So it’s always a bit of a time warp to come here to work.”

He doesn’t rule out the possibility of more Zoey’s at some point. “Never say never. We love it. We all miss it. I’ve spoken to Alex Newell and Jane Levy, and we all miss doing it,” he continues. “I think if there ever was an opportunity where we can even make another movie or another limited series for whatever network would be interested, I know that they’d have a lot of people who would want to get back to work and give people that great escape. I’m caught up right now a little busy doing Todd, but if we could fit it into the schedule, I’d never say no.”

The 2021 movie began with Max also being able to hear people’s “heart songs”—that was the cliffhanger the series ended on—but he lost it by the end. “I like the idea that maybe Mitch [Peter Gallagher] or the universe gave Max the power as a way to allow Zoey to finally be with him,” Levy told us in 2021. “It also just gave them great intimacy and ultimately trust. Zoey was very afraid and she seems less afraid, and that’s beautiful.”

What the movie didn’t do—and therefore something that could be explored in any sort of follow-up—is choose a reason why Zoey gained the ability in the first place. “Maybe I got these powers because the universe was trying to tell me to look up,” Levy suggested. “When I read that, I thought, look up from her computer screen and see Max sitting next to her and this person who, while you’re losing one love of your life, you’re gaining another. There’s deep sadness in that and then there’s also profound love.” Her theory was her character “got them because of losing her dad and instead of becoming more withdrawn from life to become more involved with it.”

Sparing my friends in other places who don’t want to hear all this lol. Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist... I knew a Max/Zoey break-up was probably coming, but I'm still so upset. I just need nice things right now. Give them another nice ep before this!! Allegedly someone (showrunner? idk i’m new here) said the love triangle was over but idk how lmao these LIES. Anyways, I hope they are endgame and actually have a chance to get there before the show is canceled.

But also it is no surprise this hasn't worked out bc Zoey can't take on Max's understandable insecurities, nor should she have to. But also I hope Max gets a chance to get over that bc I do believe he really loves her and in a selfless way--he just did not have any time to feel confident in his new role in her life, and after all of her back and forth last season, there was a lot of historical uncertainty. I didn’t like Say Something because it felt like an overstatement, a larger indictment of Zoey than I think he would feel based on what we’ve seen in the past. 

It will be weird, but I hope they go back to good friendship scenes between them rather than the darker tension that was there when she was fending him off despite what was in her heart (I’m Yours). I know Max is hurt, but again, he really does love her, I think, so I hope he can keep the pressure off of her. I think he is capable, I think it is believable that he would give her the space she needs, but I guess I’m worried the writers won’t go that way haha. But now that he doesn’t even work with her, when are they really gonna see each other if they don’t try to get back to being friends? They won’t ever get over this break up if they don’t. But also it’s gotta be super painful for Max, so that sucks. 

Anyways, I hope he can continue to be a good support for her even though he has to fit himself back into a role that is hurtful to him. Be superhuman, Max, haha. I’d love still the occasional love song but idk, maybe that will just make Zoey resent him. Maybe more love songs in the vein of 500 miles, where he’s just getting done w/e she needs w/no demands, you know? 

I’d love to hear other people’s thoughts.

Side note ETA: I’m coming at this from thinking about Max. As for Zoey, I want her to be happy and healthy and get that can’t be with Max right now bc she needs to focus on herself. I care about what happens with Max going forward bc I think she deserves such devotion and thoughtfulness that he’s shown before and that I hope he shows in the weeks ahead. Also was very happy SOMEONE ON THIS SHOW *FINALLY* MENTIONED THEY HAVE A THERAPIST and hope she gets one, sheesh.

Yeah, I am late to the party. But I guess it's time to stand to my trials...I mean fanfics! Fanfics! Now I wanted say something like "I write mostly in fandom XY" but honestly? I am kinda all over the place. I try to make sense out of it in this post. First: My ao3 handle ist reddish_umbrella I only publish fanfics on ao3. Back in 2020 I was very into the Titan-verse and there are some fanfics out there which are all about the relationship of Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth.

Rachel's Way Out When Rachel's get her head injured during a mission, she looses all her memories about herself but also her history. Suddenly Dick's is confronted with the decision if he wants to keep her that way to provide her the chance of normal life...but the way out is never the easy one. Belongs to the series Long Journey Home (Part 1) Rachel's Escape They just got back from their last adventure which almost cost Rachel's life when suddenly a new thread appears on the horizon. Rachel decides it's best if she manages the thread on her own, much to Dick's dismay... Belongs to the series Long Journey Home (Part 2) I planned to write a third part but somehow I "fell out of the fandom" and there probably won't be a third part to the series. Together we can be heroes (One-shot) After Dick's last mission with the Justice League went haywire, he promised Rachel to stay out of it. When he break his promise (once) again, she decided she had enough to wait at home and plans out a plan. Back in 2020 I also was very into Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and from this time I have some unfinished and discontinued fanfics laying around. Mixing business with girls and thrills Zoey just wanted to spend the weekend with her friends Mary and Sue in L.A. as suddenly she get dragged into a story of spies and world conspiracies. From SPRQPoint with Love Zoey has a normal life as IT support for a boring start-up. As suddenly her whole world changes...to the better? She got a way (One-Shot) After her father's death Zoey just want to disappear under her blanket, but...her phone has other plans. In 2021 I started to write my first novels, finished up my second novel (yeah, I finished up the first before the second one. I'm weird.) and started my third novel. Before that I had written down 48 pages of a new fanfic and in-between all of these things, I started another one. Chaos? Right. I try to break that up for you. My in-between is a ongoing story in the AWAE fandom. Can't we be friends? Gilbert was just crashing on the couch after a long shift in the hospital as his phone vibrated in his front pocket. He took it oud, blinking because of the bright light, and looked at it. It was 4.30 am and Anne just texted him. It was a screenshot of a pseudo-medical side. The caption under the screenshot said: „I asked Google about my neck pain and it says I'm pregnant. Should I be worried?“

*** Anne just had a breakup with her girlfriend Marisa and can't sleep at night. She starts to call Gilbert to talk about everything and nothing. My 48 pages fanfic is now my December project and I started to post it. It's a *whispers* Jo x Teddy Modern AU *clears throat* I know it's controversial. "Hope" is the thing with feathers Jo had her chance to be with Laurie and the moment she realized their friendship could mean more to her, she was too late. Amy and Laurie had found their luck together.

But what happens if their love story came to an end and Jo sees herself in the situation to seek out Laurie again? Will she find their friendship - and even love - again? My second novel will also be a fanfic - which isn't publish yet - but to give you a teaser, title is below. I probably gonna change in a later edit to an original work because aaaah...I am lousy fanfic writer, tbh. ^^ (smart move to write that at the very end of your own fanfiction masterpost *hehe*) It's turning out sublime RPF with Timothée Chalamet, AU, Aged-up Characters, Poly Relationship.
